Phenomenal people. I received a flashing check engine light for a stuttering engine just days before a 1,000+ mile road trip for Christmas. The folks at Douglas told me they would get it looked at "as fast as humanly possible". Less than 24-hours later, the keys are back in my hands, the engine runs like new, and I can make my drive safely. The entire process was transparent, and the communication was clear and honest. Thank you, team!!

By far the most friendly and honest workers, I m new to the barrington area and I ve had a family mechanic I used to go to for years, I immediately decided from now on I m taking my truck to Douglas automotive. They found the problem within minutes and fixed it right away and told me exactly what was wrong. I ve never looked forward to taking my truck to a mechanic, but with the crew at Douglas, I can t wait to take my truck back as funny as it sounds. Amazing people, amazing service and amazing pricing. By far the best place to go to. I highly recommend Douglas Automotive and Carl helped me enormously by suggesting a stepwise approach to diagnosing the check engine light and transmission problem. This place is great! An auto shop that actually cares about its consumers, their communication and attention to detail is second to none. Chuck at the front desk was very helpful, informative and updated me throughout the entire service. Had my truck radiator replaced and everything works perfect, just as new. We are always so grateful for the reliable service and extra efforts we receive from Douglas! We have been bringing our 2003 Yukon to them for about 16 years now, and we are certain that it is their excellent care that has it running so well at 220,000 miles! I had the water pump/exhaust system in my car completely replaced. The prices were reasonable and on par to other quotes I had received. I like that they text you pictures of what repairs are needed.They let me look at the underside of my car, as it is starting to rust. Carl was friendly and they answered all my questions without feeling rushed. Service was pretty fast.

I had an excellent experience at the Douglas Automotive in Barrington. I appreciated the depth that the mechanics at this location went into diagnosing my vehicle. I knew a lot of the work I needed was pretty substantial and validated what I thought needed to get done. Chuck is very punctual in his communication and very helpful. I have been taking my MB 350 to Douglas Automotive Barrington around 4 times now over the past 5 years. I am very pleased with the consistent service and experience I have received. Their process to evaluate, inspect and prices are very reasonable than the dealers and I have been very comfortable having Douglas Automotive take care of my service needs. I have been taking my two cars here for the past couple of years. Chuck and the Douglas team have always been helpful and give an honest assessment of the required repairs. They perform quality work in a timely manner and are easy to communicate with. They even drove my son home after school since they were still working on the car. I have been a Douglas Automotive client for more than 20 years & have always appreciated the great service. Appointments are completed on time and repairs are accurate (I ve never had to return for warranty work). They keep great records of each auto and carefully monitor the wear & tear - always helpful so repairs are not done unnecessarily or done so late that they are even more expensive! The front desk crew in Barrington is great - always cheerful and helpful.

Chuck was very professional in my interaction with him. They did a thorough job in inspecting my car, a 2013 Toyota Camry which had a mileage of over 507,000 miles! The work was done in a timely fashion as the car was ready the same day. I joined the Car Care Club which Chuck recommended. I have been working with Douglas Automotive now for about five or six years. I have a 2001 Volvo S60 and a 2002 Trans Am, and both have had work done at Douglas. The Volvo is at about 225,000 miles, and I just visited Douglas again in an attempt to keep it running. It had a broken oil line to the Turbo, and it was spewing oil everywhere. I also had some additional work done, since the car was there. They identified that the rear brakes were frozen and inoperable.I really like working with Douglas, and I prefer to take my cars there rather than somewhere closer. They are one hour away from me. Because of the bad oil leak, I initially took my car to a Dealership in my town, as I didn't think I could make it to Douglas. As it turns out, the Dealership made excuses why they couldn't repair the car and told me that I would need to buy a new car. I called Carl at Douglas, and he encouraged me to have the car towed over there, which I did. They have a European car specialist there, and he is very, very good at what he does. Suffice it to say, the car has been repaired and is running just fine. I'm very grateful to Douglas for allowing me to keep my Volvo for a while longer!I also want to give a shout out to the staff, in general. I am always treated with respect, and they are happy to explain things and answer all of my (many) questions. Also, they make arrangements for me, so that I don't have to. In this case they made arrangements with the towing company to come get the car and also with Enterprise, so a car would be waiting for me to drive home after dropping off the Volvo. This is a shop that truly knows the meaning of Customer Service! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs an outstanding mechanic or is trying to keep an older (beloved) car running.Services: Engine repair, Brakes

Douglas Automotive and their staff in their Barrington location are THE BEST!!!Recently went there for what appeared to be a serious brake issue that was making a loud screeching sound and rattled like the brakes were going to fall off!!!Sean and his front desk associate looked at my car before it was even put up on the garage rack. They quickly found the source of the problem - a squirrel had placed a walnut shell that got stuck in the braking caliper. Sean simply pulled it out and I was good to go for NO CHARGE! Douglas Automotive easily could have charged me for servicing my car or they could have replaced my brakes - I would have been pleased either way.Congratulations to DOUGLAS AUTOMOTIVE for being HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY.I will be taking my car there for all future servicing needs.I strongly recommend Douglas Automotive for all your auto repairs!They are THE BEST!!!!Lance Murdock - 40 year resident of Barrington.Services: Steering & suspension replacement, General repairs

I would recommend if you want fast a quality work done on your vehicle. I was eleven hours away from home. I was Having water pump issues with my Truck. I was due to leave in the next 3 days. Without hesitation they repaired my vehicle in a first class fashion. They were very professional and went above and beyond to make sure I was fixed probably and good to go . The team at Douglas Automotive are honest, fair, efficient, and highly skilled! Not only did they quickly take care of me and resolve my car issues and needs, but they thoughtfully followed up to see how how everything was going! It is difficult to find that level of service in our busy world. If you are looking for automotive work you can depend on and trust, I would highly recommend giving Douglas Automotive a chance to prove themselves.

It's been over a year now, and nothing has changed. I went back twice after the initial visit, only to be told that it would cost more money to fix the same problem. I was quoted a price to stop the squeezing of belts. When I picked up the car, it was still squealing. When I went back inside to let them know, Carl said it was going to cost more money, but it might get better over time. I said that I paid for it to be fixed, not to be told that it was fixed. Further, he charged me an extra $100 to diagnose and replace a fuse. I was never charged for diagnosis in the past, so this came as a shock. Now, over a year and $200 later, all I got was a fuse and a requirement to put more money into it to fix the same problem. And nothing has changed.
