We had an amazing lunch here. All theee of us had amazing burgers . My hubby says the jalepno burger is to die for. Take a look at our pics!!! They look right out of a magazine. The waitress was super friendly. Attached to this building is a museum plan on spending a lot least an hour in it. Just when you think the museum is done you find a new room. Great time in Murray and will definately recommend worth the stop!

Great place to stop for drinks and food when out riding all day. Usually very busy, but I've never not been able to find a table, there is also outdoor seating which is minimal. Staff are all very prompt, friendly, funny and accommodating. Our group loves stopping at Spragpole when riding in that area! Delicious jell-o shots too!Check out the museum located inside, very cool place.Parking: Street parking, even when the place is packed, there is still plenty of parking on either side of the road directly in front of bar/restaurant and on either side of bar/restaurant...depending on whether you are in a side by side or a vehicle.Kid-friendliness: Children are allowed in dining area. Very kid friendly place.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs or steps, making it wheelchair accessible.

Oh My!What a pleasant surprise! Who would think an off the beaten path little Inn nestled amid the pines near the base of Thompson Pass in an obscure little village called Murray (Idaho) under new ownership would have food to rival any 5-star restaurant! You simply must take the time to make the drive, an hour from Coeur d Alene. Eric, the host/owner cheerfully took our party of four orders and those orders were fulfilled most expediently. Eric s wife prepared our lunch sandwiches and she had to have been not a mere cook but a chef somewhere else because our sandwiches were prepared to perfection I must say, the best Reuben I ve ever had Chef Gordon better check this little jewel of an Inn out!!

The spragpole is owned by one of the most historic families up the CDA River. Their local history museum is free to pass through and has really interesting stuff, great for families. And the food... They always do a really price friendly delicious dinner special on Saturdays and the breakfasts are just as good. The rest of the menu is also delicious and the drinks are never dry. I can't recommend this place enough!

Eat here!! We had burgers last week and they were amazing. The bacon jam burger is delicious! The staff and other patrons were super friendly. Highly recommended!

I was told this place had legendary prime rib. It ended up being a complete rat nest piece of meat and I asked for some Au Jus and the waitress gave me a load of crap just for asking. The only reason I bothered going was because I had a $25 gift certificate which I presented to the waitress when I ordered and was told they would accept it when I ordered however when the bill came (didn't see that waitress again the rest of the evening) the owner Lou marched out and told me he no longer accepted it because it was 2 years old (even though it clearly stated right on it there was no expiration date). I would avoid this place unless you are completely desperate because the owner has no integrity what so ever and the food is not worth the price they charge.

Your place is wonderful to eat at and the museum is awesome but cold, but it's great in the summer. Please change your picture on your post, people have asked me about your place and they look at the picture and wonder is that whete we will be eating? Outside in a field?

Good burgers, full service bar and a great museum- much bigger and better than expected. Nice tribute to Walt Almquistwho recognized the need to preserve the town's rich history.

On June 11,2016 12 members of the Inland Empire Region of the Nash Car Club held a meeting at the spragpole restaurant in Murray. Here are several comments from their newsletter "The Inland Empire Statesman" ."We had a lot of time to sit and ponder as we waited, waited, and waited some more for our food to arrive. It is quite possible, the cook had to go catch a chicken out of a nearby backyard to prepare Sharon's meal and Mark must have ordered a disappearing hamburger, because it never did appear at the table. Needless to say, the service left a lot to be desired! However the trip through the museum after lunch was a pleasant surprise."They also showed a picture of a very dilapidated house in the area and said "Seriously, the house is better than the food and service we received that day! Yes, seriously.Years ago the spragpole was fantastic but I have heard that it has a new owner. Since a am 80 years old, i have learned one thing to be a fact. When a restaurant with a great reputation gets a new owner, they are not smart enough to leave a good thing alone, they will either cheapen the quality, decrease the amount of food, increase the price, or all three! After all they usually have a big mortgage to pay off!As far as the service goes, I hope they were smart enough not to leave a tip...If the waitress doesn't get a tip and it is the cooks fault, she will read the riot act to him and if she is responsible and doesn't get a tip ..good that is the way it 's supposed to be. My mom worked in the restaurant business and she said a "GOOD" tip is supposed to be a reward for very good service. I will never go to a restaurant where the tip is automatically added to the check. That is a stupid European idea , and the only way to stop it is quit patronizing that place.

It's the better bar. Service and people make the difference. Then you add the largest museum around. FREE! Definitely a destination with your time.
