What a gem! Found this oasis on a last-minute booking site after a very long day on the road. Stunning, intimate setting unlike any lodging I've ever seen. Lovely staff who called me by name, beautiful grounds, and super comfortable room. Very quiet and serene--drank wine and watched the wildlife by the pond. This place is stunning!Rooms: Huge room with comfy king bed. Copper sink and deep bathtub. Beautifully decorated.Food & drinks: Honor bar downstairs was well-stocked with wine and beer and snacks to tempt you to sit on the great room and watch the wildlife out in the yard. Hot coffee and continental breakfast ready in the morning with farm fresh boiled eggs.Noteworthy details: Stunning home with quite the backstory!

Our stay was short and sweet but absolutely perfect. My husband and I wanted a quiet place to celebrate our anniversary. When we ran across this place, it was exactly what we were looking for! The host, Chad, greeted us when we got there and gave us a quick tour. Everyone was very nice. We stayed in the Arbor room, which was breathtaking. You can tell a lot is custom done. The shower is so unique and relaxing. The heated floors are also really a really nice touch. The view from our room was stunning with everything covered in fresh snow. You're only ten minutes from downtown, which made it convenient for us to grab dinner before heading there. Overall, it was an amazing stay, and I would highly recommend it if you're looking for that perfect quiet getaway.

Such an amazingly beautiful relaxing retreat! The hosts are great and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. This retreat is quiet and comfortable. The jacuzzi was very nice as well.Rooms: We had a beautiful room. The bed was a firm memory foam bed which was what we needed! We had a great view of the grounds.Nearby activities: Less than 10 minutes from downtown Sandpoint. Different kinds of restaurants and stores.

The attention to detail is second to none. Truly the owners were inspired to create something very unique for their visitors. Their love for serving others outside this this hotel is also very evident in the pictures and art spread though out the building. May the LORD bless you and keep and make his face shine upon you and grant you peace!

The stay was beautiful. We stayed in the syringa suite. The bathroom is very small. And the hot tub is right outside the room. Which is awesome but awkward at the same time. The whole place has so much character I would say it s more of an air bnb than a resort. The breakfast is toast, jam, yogurt, apple and a banana. The floors are heated which was amazing! Plenty of blankets and pillows- not enough towels. I wish they had a better lay out on the website of where the rooms are and what they are next too. Paying to check in early I think is to nickel and diming, offering complementary socks or slippers ( shoes off while inside) would be awesome. The feel is home away from home which is great but also meaning the place has quarks that need to be fixed. Amber bear in is similar to this feel but with a stay you get an actual home cooked breakfast and they offer a bonfire at night. I wouldn t choose that room again ( it did look better in photos) there s notes everywhere about if you use this make sure you do this - that s to much when your paying to stay somewhere. I understand the concept but it needs to be revamped. The marketing is great but the reality is different. We met Chad and Jill. I m not sure if they were hosts or owners. Chad is very friendly Jill very stand off.

What can we say except WOW!!!!! This property is absolutely breathtaking, with so much nature and wildlife around, you forget Downtown Sandpoint is just a 3 minute drive down the road! We stayed in the Arbor Room and were just blown away with how romantic it was. This property is just tucked away enough that we could see so many stars at night. So clean and we felt right at home. The staff was nothing but wonderful and welcoming the whole stay, we especially loved the doggies running around! We also had our first couple massage ever and our therapists Debbie and Amanda were amazing. This place is such a beautiful gem, and we will definitely be back in the future!Walkability: There are quite a bit elevation changes throughout the property, so a step either up or down to various areas either in the rooms or livings room.

I cannot say enough about Jill (the Inn keeper). My daughter and her new husband had reservations there for one night on a quick honeymoon trip. I was able to call Jill the night before and ask what I could do to make their room special. She was quick to call the local baker and asked them to make up a chocolate dipped strawberry tray and a berry lemon cake to have in the room for when they checked in. I really wanted to pay for a couples massage, but my daughter had already paid for it up front. Jill suggested I could leave the tip for the massages if I would like to do that. She even through in a complimentary bottle of champagne! She made everything seemless and had fantastic ideas! I can't thank her enough for making the evening special for my daughter and her new husband! Thank you Jill!!!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary in early December. We really had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The place is beautiful and the grounds were quite expansive. We found the entire weekend there to be relaxing and quiet which is what we wanted! The first night we stayed in the Grand Arbor room. The shower is pretty awesome. The room was quite large and quiet even though it s on the main floor. There isn t a place to hang out but it s a great room to experience. The next. Ugh t we had the Kipling room upstairs. It was a lot smaller but we enjoyed it more. It was just more warm and comfortable plus the view outside of the mountains was epic.We didn t eat here other than the breakfast. You definitely need a car as there isn t anything nearby.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. From the moment you walk in, it feels like home. Getting to walk around in my slippers, watch the sunrise over the mountains, and get an incredible massage were just some of the reasons I will continue to come back time and time again. Seriously, I've never felt just as refreshed and relaxed after a trip as I was after staying here. So so so gorgeous and refreshing!!

I travel often for both work and pleasure, and have stayed in many different places all over Idaho, Washington and Oregon. This B&B was by far one of the best experiences I've had. The rooms are all so unique and charming. The owner and staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable. I also loved the massage and breakfast in bed. Quite a peaceful and relaxing place to escape, and shut off when you need it. Thank you Heather and everyone for your amazing hospitality. We will be coming back for sure!

We stayed one night in the Grand Arbor room (the tree room). So we didn't use any of the extras offered or spend a lot of time on the property. We liked it and I'm already making plans to go back. The room met my main requirements. The bed was comfortable, it had coffee and it was quiet. Also, the open concept tree shower and the view were both amazing. However, I think it's important to know I would not use the words "luxury" or "elegant" in a description. Talus Rock is "unique" "funky" "cozy" "artsy". Not luxury. It needs a fair amount of TLC, some deep cleaning, and it isn't a resort. It's more like an old school (pre airbnb) bed and breakfast. Which was fun in the morning. Hanging in the great room talking to other guests and the host. I'm not sure about the word "retreat" either. It is relaxing and peaceful and if you book the extras and use more of the property, could maybe feel like a retreat. If you're not expecting luxury or looking for it then this is a great spot.

My husband and I chose to celebrate our 30th anniversary at Talus this March. Communication pre-stay was top-notch, we ordered extra's to include couple's massage, private chef dinner & breakfast in bed. We were greeted outdoors by cute little dogs & inside staff with "Welcome Home" upon our arrival, what an amazing custom front door. We stayed in the Grand Arbor room and it was very nice & quiet, the bed was very comfortable, the custom 2 head rain shower was unique and beautiful. We had everything we needed in the room including coffee, wine glasses and even some chocolate kisses. The view overlooked the backyard with the natural ponds & pools, although it was all ice & snow covered it was still beautiful, I can only imagine the beauty in the summer. The massage was great, although 1 masseuse had their car break down, but the 1 that was there was able to accommodate us perfectly. Now, the dinner was the highlight of our stay! Chef Chris Arlo & his assistant (sorry don't remember her name) not only prepared our custom 7 course dinner in this interactive experience, but they entertained us with many stories. The only improvement that I could recommend is that we missed the entrance sign at the driveway and then maybe have another sign where to park, I know there was lots of snow, so maybe they were just buried. The other thing I wanted to mention is that although wine was included in our dinner, they don't have any other alcohol there for purchase, so bring your own. This was an experience we'll remember for our lifetime and will be sure to come back to enjoy again.

A decent stay in a lovely lodge. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing. The staff is friendly and professional. Friendly dogs roam unfettered. The drawbacks are the standard breakfast: coffee, juice, and either toast or bagel plus hard boiled eggs. Given the $400+/night cost and with nothing walkable close, this was a huge disappointment. Guests can order a lavish breakfast brought to the room at additional cost. Same is true for turndown, mint service. Also disappointing was no champagne or something to commemorate our anniversary. Lots of service options like massages available at additional cost. Perhaps my expectations were too high for our anniversary stay. There is nothing particular special to warrant staying here again. Nothing went wrong or was bad at all; I expected a real breakfast, perhaps a cocktail, sherry, or wine hour, and more things to do at the property. Neither a retreat nor a B&B and $400+/night is a lot for only a little.

My husband and I spent a weekend celebrating our anniversary earlier this month at Talus Rock and loved it. I can't say enough good things about the customer service (everyone was just lovely and so very helpful!), the couples massage (wonderful!), the grounds (beautiful views--I can't wait to see the scenery in the summer as well!) and the room (the Grand Arbor is amazing!!). We will definitely be back.

The lodge is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed our 2 night stay. Make sure to review the extras offered as my wife thoroughly enjoyed the professional massage and the breakfast in bed with mimosas. There is also a large hot tub and sauna here and a pool for the warmer months. We would highly recommend a getaway here!

My colleagues and I wanted something different for our annual work party so decided to do the murder mystery at Talus Rock Retreat. What a fun night!! From beginning to end, we felt glamorous and well taken care of. The catering from Arlo s restaurant was 5-star as well. Whether it be with family or friends or colleagues I would definitely recommend switching up the usual party and spicing it up with a murder mystery dinner.

When we first got to Talus Rock, we explored the property, walked some trails through the woods, saw a giant frog in the pond (he was so cool), visited with the animals (dogs, chickens), and gawked at the goose who was about ready to lay her eggs. Our room, the Grande Arbor, was beyond amazing- the coolest place I've slept in a long time. The view of the mountains made it perfect! From the ceiling, the tree shower, the GIANT jacuzzi, all the little details of the room- we were just so relaxed and content. It was the best way to spend our anniversary. Heather, the owner, was so sweet and lovely to be around, she made us feel so at home. The breakfast options to choose from were wonderful and there were even gluten free options. You'll love everything about your visit at Talus Rock!
