After driving twelve hours we were so glad to arrive at this Idaho gem, right off the highway. Dave and Bonnie and puppy Trixie greeted us like old friends. Correspondence with Dave beforehand had given us assurance that they were open and on arrival we found a level lawn to pitch our tent, a parking spot beside it on pavement, electricity in the gazebo nearby and our own Wifi password with a very strong signal. Not to mention clean warm washrooms with hot showers and an on site laundry! Did I mention how friendly the hosts were? Yes, there is freeway noise but we d camped beside train tracks with trains going by all night that rattled our teeth, so muffled freeway noises were just white noise to us. We spent from 6pm to 6am the next day on our way home to BC Canada but would have stayed longer if able to. Highly recommend this spot and hope to stay again in the future. Thanks Dave and Bonnie for your warm hospitality. George and Barbara

Just looking for a place half way between us and our granddaughter. What a wonderful place. The most helpful people. Dave gets an A+. We keep extending our stay. Special bonus, this is where my husband is from, so lots of nostalgic things to see. I love the fact that it feels like family. Everything clean and well cared for.Nearby activities: Winter skiing, summer fishing, mining tours, wonderful history, Old Mission.Walkability: 75 mile paved trail for hiking or bike riding.Noteworthy details: Gondola & movie sites

Owners could not be nicer. This place is tired and adjacent to the freeway. It is a good value . If you have sound insulation and don't mind clean but somewhat disheveled surroundings , check it out.Walkability: Could walk to restaurants and coffee in the morning.

Absolutely loved my week stay here. Great value. I was in water / electric back-in spot 6. There is a dump station on site. The wi-fi is incredible. Had no issue working remotely. It backs up to a park. On certain evenings around 7-8pm, you get visited by moose who come in to feed on the vegetation in the area. So neat. The Park owner is super friendly. They stay on site and are around for any questions that pop-up or whatnot. The grounds are taken care of nicely. And though it's right off the expressway I did not find it noisy at all. They offer DVDs at the office to borrow. They have a nice laundry room, bathrooms and showers and a pop machine out front. Also, a community area in the middle with a gazebo for sitting and chatting with the other guests. It's in a great location with a grocery store, restaurant and gas station nearby. And the sunsets are pretty too. Definitely would stay here again.

For the last 3 years my family and I have been coming to this campground, Dave & Bonnie are great! This campground is our home when we go to North Idaho. Campground is well maintained, bathrooms stocked and clean. Not much noise from the highway, I sleep very peacefully when I m here. We are really well taken care of every time we come. Wifi available and great rates. We just left a couple weeks ago and cannot wait for next year to return. Highly recommended 10/10 !

It's a family tradition now to camp here! When we come to Idaho we know our place is here at the campsite with Dave & Bonnie ! My wife has been coming here with her family for approx 4 years, I have came the last two and have no plans on stopping our yearly family trip to pinehurst ! Camp ground is well maintained, and clean restrooms. Great rates! Highly recommend. We can't wait to return !

The owners/managers are so very hospitable. Pleasant to deal w on phone during booking and very nice in person. For a camping experience, the bathrooms were exceptional! Privacy, hot showers, flushing toilets, mirrors... this is why I m giving it stars at all.The tent camping area is very, very small. We had guests flanking both sides of us (4/6 of the campsites were being used for the night) and it felt cramped. The grounds are adjacent to the freeway on-ramp separated by a chain link fence. To say the interstate s traffic noise was loud is an understatement; I m not sure if the reviewer who left noise is not a problem slept inside an RV or was deaf, but noise was definitely a problem for us! We all slept with earplugs in and I was only able to get about 3 hours of shuteye.Maybe the area is fine for RVing, but we will not be returning. Also, we ran over a nail in their parking lot and were stuck there until the next morning when we could get to a tire shop; we may have just driven home for the night otherwise.

Amazing little campground. Set up our tent on a lovely grassy area. There are small little trees at the moment, so the promise of shade in the years to come. Best shower I've ever had on any trip. Hot, great water pressure, and clean. Owner Dave said that about every hour or so he goes in and sprays them down with bleach water. I could smell the bleach when I walked in (not super strong) and it was so comforting to know that it was clean. Definitely will return.

The manager here is friendly and helpful. He suggested we pull through our site from the back so our view would be the mountain and so we have a private space for our table. It s Labor Day so their were tents next to us on the other side. Our site is on grass which is clean and nice compared to the usual pavement or gravel. He invited us to move the table to wherever we d like it, and there is a hole in the middle for people who bring umbrellas. He said a moose enjoys eating the bush by our table, but we close our blinds at night so I don t know whether one has appeared. However our friends saw 2 moose less than a mile away on the bike trail at about 6pm.

The managers are super helpful and friendly and I do not blame them for my 3 star review. They were great. The location is convenient and we were grateful to find a place open in the off-season during our cross country trek. There are technically 3 pull-through sites, but it is a very small park and navigating those sites with a big rig or long trailer is not advised. The bathrooms had ample hot water, but were in desperate need of a cleaning. The location is right by the on-ramp, so the convenience comes with the noise of acceleration. Not a big deal if you run a noise machine, which is what we do anyway. The park also needed some general clean-up (cigarette butts in the firepit area, a random port-o-potty next to a long-term camper's site). It was very affordable though, so these things are easy to overlook if you are a smallish rig and just passing through.

I would be happy to update this review please read on. The prices are reasonable and Dave the manager is running a tight ship. Everything is clean and for tent campers (us) the included shower was a huge plus. The poor rating comes from the what are apparently permanent residents of the small park. Setting the scene. 15 or so RV sites in a horseshoe with a gazebo in the middle surrounded by grass that the half dozen tent sites share. Small, but reasonable. Now add the couple with the old RV with the American flag and enough personal possessions outside their camper to let you know they have been there a while. Bit of a red flag, as we are moving into trailer park territory, not campground. Red flag is earned as the evening progresses. This couple moves strongly into cocktail hour with their music blaring across the small park as the rest of the campground settles into going to bed. Their friends show up toting another bottle of booze. Top off the evening with a bout of screaming over their predictable domestic dispute complete with slamming doors and plenty of yelling. The solution is pretty simple, give Dave the ability to put up that 14 day limit that most public parks have and keep it a travelers way point. The low price point is attracting the wrong crowd. Or just give Dave the power to send the undesirables packing.I just wanted a peaceful night to move onto next activity. Didn't get it and wouldn't go back.Sorry Dave, not really on you, but those folks and people like them got to be asked to leave.Edit: owner is aware of issues presented in this review and cares enough to respond. Plus one star. (was originally 3)

Great campground right off I-90 for a quick overnight. Easy to access with our 36 coach pulling a 24 trailer. Very kind and helpful manager. We didn t hear any road noise. We ll definitely be back!

The manager was so nice! He made sure we had a spot waiting for us when we pulled in during heavy snow. This campground was very well kept and very clean. With two clean bathrooms that were always warm, it had everything we needed!

Stayed here as a last minute stop on our way east to Glacier NP. It is a great little campground and the host are excellent. Bathrooms were spotless and the new pavilion and grills they had set up was great to cook dinner under. Provided a perfect restful night. Nice walk to the stream and the folks fishing along it were very friendly.

The camp hosts were super, very friendly and accommodating! We arrived with no tent reservations and on a 3 day bikecamping trip with 10 people, mostly kids. They went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. I cannot say how much all of us enjoyed staying at By the Way. Big kudos for their service excellence!! We would certainly stay here again if the opportunity arises. Thank you for your hospitality and attention to the details. Chris and family

Small and right off the road so if you're tent camping you'll hear the traffic, but if your in a camper or RV it shouldn't be a problem. By far the friendliest managers we've encountered. Facility is clean and well stocked. We would definitely stay here again if passing through.

Called late to see if they had room for a tent. Dave was super awesome and came out to great us even though we arrived pretty late. Nice green grass, clean bathroom facilities and free fresh coffee in the gazebo for anyone in the morning. Had our coffee and talked to some of the other campers. All and all a really nice stop that we are glad we took. Thanks Dave ur hospitality is something we dont see alot and we will allways remember. Definitely stay again of we travel through this area.

My family and I (4 kids, husband, and 4 dogs) stayed here for 48 nights (tenting) waiting for a house we were purchasing to close escrow. Because of the friendly people (some live full-time here), and managers Dick and Dave, what could have been a horrendous time turned out to be a wonderful experience. The grounds and bathrooms are kept clean, the management is very accommodating, and definitely dog and kid friendly. By the Way is within walking distance to a grocery store, the Coeur d'Alene bike/walking trail, and the Coeur d'Alene River. Definitely a great place to stay!!!

Very clean. Small park which is a plus to us. Dave is a fantastic guy that runs it. Espresso shop in the lot and in walking distance is a little place for buscuits and gravy or burgers and shakes.
