What a knowledgeable, friendly company. While on vacation I had a battery problem. He immediately took care of it and reset my computer. Plus, he gave me some maintenance tips on my car which were very welcome. Wish more companies cared as much about customer satisfaction. Thank you!

After taking my Honda Odyssey to at least three other mechanics (including the dealership where I live) these guys were the only ones that actually drove the vehicle to find out what was wrong with it. In two hours they figured out that I have a defective tire. This has been an issue for years, and I've spent more money chasing it than I care to admit. For less than a hundred bucks these guys solved it in two hours. And they're cool.

The last thing I wanted to deal with on a short vacation was a car repair, especially in a generally expensive resort town, but I was shocked at how great my experience was, what I believe was fair pricing, and the spectacular speed of service I received on short notice!I popped in around 4pm on a Friday concerned about a check engine light coming on while visiting Sun Valley on a weekend trip from my home in SLC, Utah. I had already planned on a late lunch at Grumpy s and Ketchum Auto was just around the block, so simply out of pure convenience I thought I d see if they could take a look at my car. I had my car serviced only two weeks earlier back home and was concerned about the light coming on after the drive to SV the day before, with a drive back home planned for Monday. I was expecting to possibly get brushed off due to the late hour on a Friday, popping in two hours before closing for the weekend. That was not the case, within an hour while I grabbed a burger and beer at Grumpy s they checked the codes, identified the issue, and offered to order the part. They said they could get the part in by Monday morning and installed by Monday afternoon. I was planning to drive back to SLC on Monday afternoon and was a little skeptical all would realisticallyget done by the time I was hoping to leave town. The last thing you wanna do is be waiting on a car to be fixed when you re on a short timeline, especially when ordering a part is involved. I had some flexibility to stay one more night if worse case we got delayed, but figured I should just get this taken care of when I have a day off instead of trying to drive the car home almost 400 miles to have to go through all this again with a local mechanic.I dropped the car off Monday just a little before 10am, was told to expect it to be done by 1 or 2pm, which was fine as I wanted to head out of town by 3pm.Well, to my surprise at 11am I got a call it was done and all ready to go.My experience with Ketchum Auto far exceeded my expectations. Me and my family visit Sun Valley multiple times a year, so It s great to know of a good place go while in town if we need a service or repair.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance

When I got a flat on Trail Creek, Spencer fit me in the same day to help get me back on the road!Furthermore, when I had questions regarding my manual transmission (that was still under warranty with Toyota), Ryan took the time to explain the issue I was having and what I needed to say to Toyota so that I would receive an honest assessment and not spend extra money that wasn't necessary. Thanks

I live in Stanley and my breaks pretty much stopped working on Galena Summit. I brought my truck here and they were able to fix them that day despite being pretty busy. They were super nice and the prices are fair. Definitely recommend.

It looks like I am one of the few who was not happy with my experience. First, they charge a 4% "up charge" to use a credit card. They wanted to charge a large shipping fee on one special order tire. I got a quote for the same tire for half down at Les Scwabbs in Hailey. Additionally, they left my car unlocked overnight out on the street with the keys IN the car. I am traveling so have my passport and a lot of electronics in my car.

Very satisfied! We were in town for a few days and our Sprinter rear bumper had a run in with the ground causing our rear doors to not be able to open. We spoke with Spencer in the morning and he was able to squeeze us in in the afternoon. We were back on the road in under 15 minutes. Thanks so much guys!

This is a family business and they certainly treat you as such. Laura, who I assume is the shop manager, was incredibly nice, responsive, helpful, and accommodating. I had my '95 Toyota van overheat on me on the way to Ketchum and I had it towed here. They worked with the shop I usually take my van to, to help diagnose the problem and tried everything at their disposal to fix it. My van is a Japanese import, right-side-drive that is certainly not what mechanics in the states are used to working on. They ultimately weren't able to figure out exactly what was causing the issue or remedy it but the amount of time and hard work they put into it plus coordinating a pick from a tow company on a Sunday is ultimately what made me give them 5 stars.

DO NOT GET YOUR CAR FIXED HERE!! My family was on a vacation and we took the car into the shop on Monday, and we needed to leave on Wednesday. on Tuesday we still had not heard anything so we called and were told the issue and that we needed to order a part and if we order the part in the next hour, we could get it today and then they would start work on it. We told them to order it and they said they would call back and confirm that they ordered the part. 55 minutes later we called and they still have not ordered it so we asked him to order it and then they said they did. we called them three hours later and they had never ordered the part so they had to wait till Wednesday morning to order the part. They get it in the store Wednesday at 10 AM and they say they will have it done by noon. We call at 10:30 to check on it and also at 11:30 to check on it for an update and they have not started. They finally start on it at 1:30 PM and they cannot get it fixed and working so by 6 PM. They say they can t get it working. We had to drive it to a dealership in twin falls to get it fixed. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Up visiting the area and a snow storm hit. I noticed I had a small rip in my side wall. We had to drive back to Stanley that night in the storm. I called to see if they had studded tires that fit my car. Thankfully they did. Best price I ve ever had on tires and they had them mounted in a half hour. This was hands down the best experience I ve ever had getting new tires and mounted ever.Service: Tires

I can't reccomend this place enough. The staff was beyond friendly, very accommodating and the price was affordable. We were heading back to Boise when our strut broke from the mount. We were stuck out of town and didn't know who to turn to. Luckily ketchum auto fit us in immediately and got us up and going in 1 day. Absolutely wonderful shop. We appreciate the help in an emergency. Thank you ketchum auto for getting us back on the road and home so quickly.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I write this review of my experience from Ketchum Auto to get this off of my chest and to inform any customers about what kind of people they are. My car broke down mid-driving on November 2nd and had AAA tow it to Ketchum Auto. We left it there for a day or two, and then called to see if they knew what had happened because nobody informed us yet. They said the timing belt snapped and that they were going to work on it within the next few days. After 3 days, we called again and after the 5th call, they answered and told us again that it was the timing belt and that it should be ready the next day. The next day, we took a bus into town and when we passed by the shop, our car was still out front untouched. It had just snowed so I was trying to be patient, but we called to make sure that everything was ok. They didn't answer and it went to a voice-mail. We left them alone because they were busy and I didn't want to bother them. So the next day, we called and they had informed us that it was the timing belt and the water pump and they have to order new parts and he quoted us $1,000 for parts and labor. We were upset, but understanding. We waited another couple of days and called them and they again told us it would be ready the next day. After about a week of more phone tag, I decided to just go into the shop to see what exactly was going on. As soon as my partner and I walked in, a worker exclaimed, "Uh oh. Someone is in trouble." That isn't something you want to hear when getting an update about your vehicle. We talked to a mechanic and he said that the timing belt had warped the engine and an engine replacement was around $3,000 - $5,000 which isn't even close to what we had discussed over the phone. I'm not sure why they didn't know that the engine was busted before charging me for parts that they put in for no reason. Extremely upset about how my car has been handled for the last 2 weeks, I talked to a man at the front desk who was still trying to charge me $800 for a car that doesn't even run. My partner told them to stop working on the car because they were just going to continue to jack the price up without communicating with us about it. We fought about the price because it is absurd to pay almost $1,000 for a broken vehicle. I just bought this car from Pioneer Motors in Twin Falls 3 months prior, so I'm devastated. Between being sold a lemon from the dealership and now an auto shop hassling me and selling me a car that is more broken than when I took it in, I'm in tears and beyond frustrated. The guy apologized for the complete lack of communication between the auto shop and offered to tow it home for free which was kind of him. I went to go get some food so they can get the car ready and when I came back, they were wrestling in the shop. I was trying to talk to them about the next steps I needed to do and they completely set me aside to continue wrestling with each other which made me feel ignored. We all drove home and they treated my car problems like a joke. They got my broken car to my home and when they drove away, I just bawled. I couldn't believe the way I was just treated. As a local that praised Ketchum Auto and even gave them business from my friends, I was appaled and devastated. Between the lack of customer care and communication, constant phone tag and having my car in the shop for 3 weeks only to pay $600 for it to be broken, I am never going there again and I will stop recommending them. Nobody deserves to have their trust abused and sit there with a broken car sitting in their driveway. I write this to share my personal experience with you and in hopes that you don't make the same mistakes that I did.Service: Engine repair

I live here in Ketchum and sent my father who drove 14hrs to visit me and found out he had a possible transmission leak to you. He was miles away from home and didn t have any tools to check the problem he was having so I sent him your way. He told you to be careful with the bolts for the fifty pound plate underneath his jeep but apparently no one listened and you guys just cross threaded new bolts thru the body causing more damage than what you charged for creating it.. then he drove 14 hours back home with what you did and could have caused injury or death and put his life in danger.. shame on you! However, the real kicker is you told him the transmission fluid was full and he drove 3 miles back to my place to find that it was 2+ quarts low. If you guys can t determine fluid levels (which is basic auto mechanics) how the hec should we trust you with any vehicle maintenance?

Amazing small town service! Our car was over heating, check engine turned on, we were in a major bind. They ran the code for us, let my husband tinker with the car next to the lot, loaned us a tool and even let us top off with coolant! Talk about first class service! It's nice to know that their are still good people in this world! Thanks again for you help.

My vehicle literally died in front of the Sun Valley Lodge doing winter break when my family and I were vacationing from Portland. Ryan started working on it immediately as soon as it was towed in and kept me apprised of the situation as it unfolded so I could deal with the complex logistics of changing our travel plans and securing last minute air travel home. Ryan replaced the alternator and even went so far as to offer to find someone to drive my vehicle back to Oregon! Not a typical service offered in major American cities! I flew back to Hailey to retrieve my car and not only were all our skis and other personal belongings still safely inside the car, despite the fact that it was left unlocked, (only in Sun Valley,) but my car was checked by my Audi dealership when I returned and all had been done properly. I can't thank Ketchum Auto enough for helping me deal with an extremely stressful and inconvenient situation.

My 20 year old Daughter has a 1985 Toyota Odyssey Motor home that had a bad hydraulic clutch. We limped it into Ryan's shop and he was tremendous. My son and I had to drive back to Seattle and leave my daughter in Sun Valley till Monday to get it fixed. Ryan was fantastic , he ordered the parts he thought were bad ahead of time and got her back on the road. From one father to another, I can't thank you enough Ryan!

It took a month of effort to get a 30% refund. Phone etiquette is lacking.-My girlfriend scraped the front of our Mercedes Sprinter van on a snowbank pulling out of a parking space in Ketchum and an air temperature sensor fell off. The check engine light and def light counter came on and she brought the sensor she had found in with her to Ketchum Automotive and asked for the engine codes to be read. She waited about 4 hours and they charged her $118 to read engine codes and reset the def light counter (which is good because you can only start the vehicle so many times once that light comes on). They also added a gallon of def. She headed for Twin Falls. The engine and def lights came back on half way home. I told her to just come home and I would fix it (I'm a mechanic btw). She arrived home in twin falls and I couldn't find the sensor and electrical pigtail she told me about. I also noticed the front door steps behind the wheels on both sides of the van were dented up from the bottom about 3 inches into the cabin and gouged (probably from a car lift used in the wrong place). This was definitely not from the snowbank my girlfriend had scraped on the front bumper's plastic. I asked the shop about the sensor/ connector pigtail and they said they had accidentally kept it and they didn't know anything about the body damage underneath. I gave my address and they agreed to send a check to refund the money for the parts they had inadvertently kept. I found the sensor at O'reilly but had to special order the electrical connector pigtail from Mercedes in boise as they were hard to find. Cost me $74. We were on a time crunch. I got the parts, repaired the vehicle, cleared the codes, and sent my girl on her way to Cali where she was running late for a job. I had decided to forget about the damage underneath and had repaired it as best I could. I continued trying to get a refund and waiting for 3 plus weeks and it was very hard to get ahold of the owner. I finally got ahold of him and he agreed to put the refund on my card as the check didn't seem to be happening. They emailed me the next day saying the credit card didn't work and the address I had previously given was undeliverable. I saw he had written down a credit card number wrong and corrected it, and asked what address they had tried to send the check to. They didn't get back to me. About 4 days later I finally received a check for $47, not the full amount but something. I guess they did have the right address all along. It took a month all told. I consider this a win and am happy the owner did something for me in the end.
