Our older class b van threw a belt. We were stranded at the Love's Truck stop in Bliss.I found Black Bear on Google and chose them based on the Google rating. Brian went above and beyond to tow the van, transport my wife and I and even our dog to his shop. He had to have the part ordered but made room in his busy schedule to fix the van and get us on our way. Great small business. A veteran, excellent mechanic and a person who demonstrated a great deal of integrity. The price was reasonable. He got us back on the rad in just a couple of hours.If I lived in the area, he would be my go to mechanic.

We were stranded in our loaded toy hauler outside of Shoshone yesterday with a blown tire. The tread was wrapped around the axle and we needed help. No way to get all the way off the highway and the truck traffic was heavy.I called Black Bear (it was after 5:30 pm) and he answered. After getting details on our location and what we needed he told me he d be to us in 25-30 minutes. He arrived as promised and quickly & safely got us back on the road. The price was more than fair and he was very professional!Service: Tire change

I drive an EV car, and I ran out of battery due to the coldness of winter. (Learned my lesson!) I contacted my insurance roadside assistance. After waiting in the cold for 4 hours, I couldn't wait anymore for my insurance to keep failing me. I called a lot of tow companies in the area, and none of them knew how to tow an electric vehicle. Fortunately for me Brian knows his stuff and saved the day. He was able to tow me to the nearest fast charging station and he was able to unload my car perfectly so I could charge it up. 5 stars is clearly not enough. Brian truly was a life saver!

We are so grateful for the fast, professional services we got from Black Bear Automotive. From a tow on the side of the interstate to driving home in less than 24 hours with the problems our old van had was absolutely incredible. The price for service was competitive. We'd come back in a heartbeat!

After getting the vehicle towed to Brian's shop, he quoted $900 .went to get vehicle the bill was over $1400!!!!! We were not notified of the extra work, so we could give our approval. Needless to say when we picked up the vehicle it was quite a shock!!!! The work was ok, but we won't be back, due to what I consider unprofessional business practice, by not getting our approval on the extra $500Buyer beware

Brian was great! We ended up with a fuel engine light as we were traveling through Jerome to WA. He was able to fix the truck and get us on our way even though it was a holiday weekend.

Brian from Black Bear Automotive and Towing is not only a professional at what he does but also very kind, a true gentleman. When I broke down on I84 just outside of Jerome Idaho and called Brian's company not only was he at my location in about fifteen minutes he also had my car loaded on his truck in about five and unloaded in front of my house seventy miles away about an hour later. Top-notch service from start to finish!

On the Friday before Christmas (17 degrees outside) our 2012 Ram suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Not knowing anyone in the Twin Falls area we randomly called Black Bear. That turned out to be an absolute stroke of luck. Brian responded to our needs within minutes and towed us to the Ram dealership in Twin. But the dealership was weeks backlogged and couldn't provide us with any immediate relief. Brian, then towed our truck to his shop and preformed the initial diagnostic on the engine. Brian is a head and shoulders above anyone in the automotive business I have ever used in the past. Extremely patient, methodical and professional throughout our association. He provided us with the timely information and advise. Thank you a bunch Brian!!! You're the BEST!!!!!Service: Car towing

Brian is an exceptional mechanic who went above and beyond for use while we were passing through. Would recommend him to anyone. We called as an emergency and he said bring it down and got it done very quick. Cost of repairs was exceptional. He has great dogs and allowed us to hang around while he did the job. I was traveling from Twin Falls to Ogden on a SUNDAY and my Van died about 10 minutes into my trip, Brian came and towed my van and fixed my problem the same day and got me on my way so I could go home. Definitely recommend, he did a great job, very thorough and I got home safe. Brian was a Rockstar. Not only did he quote me for less than half of what 2 other shops quoted me. He also did his best to squeeze a brake service in, in between jobs, and didnt try and set an appointment for 3 weeks out. Looking at his shop, you can tell that professionalism is key to him, and that he has invested his own time and money into expanding and improving his business, which means pride in his work and ability. Dude is definitely the only mechanic I'll even talk to around here, let alone take my business to.

I ended up having a complete crate motor replacement in my 2011 F350. Brian was outstanding at letting me know and understand what the time line would be and the cost. He even finished ahead of schedule. This was a fairly stressful situation because of the cost involved but Brian kept the information and communication open and frequent. I don t remember the last time I was really happy with both the customer service and the quality and professionalism. **Fast Service and Fair Prices... Open Weekends**I was staying at the Comfort suites in Jerome and went to start my car late on a Friday morning and heard what sounded like loud clacking inside of my car. Having had a bad belt before, I knew I was in trouble! I checked some reviews and found Brian at Black Bear. First off, he was the only place that was open 24/7. Plus, he also has a tow truck. I called him up and he was at the hotel in about an hour. He picked up my car (2011 Nissan Altima 79K miles) and had the repair done in just a few hours! He also checked the squeak in my brakes and replaced a headlight for me, all for much less than expected. When it came time to pick up my vehicle, he gave me a ride from the hotel to his shop. I live 230 miles away but I just might start making the trip to see Brian for my future car needs! Thanks for all your help. :)Services: General repairs & maintenance, Car towing, Brakes

There is not enough space to say just how wonderful Brian is. He is honest, hard working, and accommodating. Brian will be my mechanic from now on. He does not charge outrageous fees, if you need a part or two he can get it pretty quickly, and he won't push anything on you that you don't need. He is friendly, and a fast worker. Brian was a delight from the initial phone call to the end of the service. We had an exhaust pipe burst in our RV while traveling, had it checked out within 30 minutes by black bear diesel for diagnosis. He even took the time to back up our unit with a trailer hook up. I blew a wheel bearing on my cummins, this guy picked me up off the side of the highway, and had me rolling again in 3 hours...on a sunday. He came through in a pinch and was a very good mechanic. Five stars isn't enough. He was willing to take our car in last minute, knowing it could be a 4+ hour fix. Not only did he do the work, he had conversation with us and told us a little bit about the area and his story. Was a great experience. Couldn't recommend this business enough. Whether you need a tow or work done on your car, this is the place for you.

Brian was incredibly helpful when we broke down in Jerome Idaho. He provided the tow and mechanic work all the while accommodating us on a Saturday with all three of our dogs in the back of the car. My wife, kids, and I packed up our home and hit the road in our brand new fifth wheel on Saturday 9/25 and were heading to Texas from Central Oregon. Along the way we ran into trailer brake issues which we got fixed and headed to Twin Falls.We got as far as the Bliss Rest Area before our truck displayed Cleaning Engine. Continue driving followed by Engine Power Reduced and we were crawling up a hill towing our 43 5ver.All diesel repair places were closed or did not answer their phone so we had to camp at the rest area for the night (not ideal with a wife and 2 kids IMO).After calling a few other places with no luck, I had to wait the night out at the truck stop before I called and spoke to Brian at 6am and told him my situation. He answered right away and was very friendly, accommodating, and very calm which helped me tremendously as I was feeling defeated and super concerned with dealing with the other issues we had along our way plus I slept for 1 hr that night due to my concerns with being at a truck stop and looking for any possible solution to get my family back on track. Brian did not say that couldn t help or say find someone else and actually was FAR more helpful/confident than I could ve asked and was a GMC certified mechanic which was perfect to work on my Sierra 3500HD. He offered multiple options for me to feel comfortable and confident in the safety of my family.He showed up on time and towed me to his garage and quickly got to work fixing my truck (my wife and kids remained with our 5ver at the rest area). Knowing this he got to work diagnosing my truck and immediately found the issue to be my regen didn t complete, MAF sensor, and air filter needed attention.He got me fixed up and on the road safely and with confidence the issue was fixed. We have had no issues since. This may seem easy for some but not for us. This is now our home and being a father with 2 daughters and a wife, staying at a rest stop is not what you want for your family so our ENTIRE life in his hands. Thank you sooooooo much Brian for all the help, education, recommendations and work you did for my family and me. I HIGHLY recommend Black Bear to anyone having issues with their diesel or gasser. Brian is VERY knowledgeable and offers only what you NEED and nothing more. The experience I had with Black Bear was incredible and will definitely tell my friends and family about it. What an amazing honest man. I was broke down a little past Jerome and he had no problem coming to tow me to his shop to see what was wrong. Ended up being a blown engine pretty much so he towed me and my vehicle back to Pocatello which was a 122 mile drive. I have never had such a great experience with someone, especially being from out of town. He was willing to do anything to get me and my wife home. Very honest and upfront with his prices and timing as well.. I will absolutely recommend this man to ANYONE.Service: Special vehicle towing

Very accommodating and was understanding of my situation. Provided options and updates throughout the process. More importantly, work was completed ahead of expected time and was done correctly.� Replaced my power steering pump, and completed a brake job. Also rotated my tires without me even have to ask!
