Dowdy s automotive did an amazing job helping me restore my 4Runner. From start to finish. The staff was competent, honest and friendly. Justin and Wes in particular did a great job on my specific vehicle. I would recommend Dowdy s automotive to anyone in the Treasure Valley looking for a great mechanic.

I recommend Dowdy s Automotive on Grove St. for any automotive needs. They are fast and professional. They replaced my front brakes and reset my e-brakes. My truck is back up and running great.

Took my Jeep in because the check engine light was on and it seemed to be having some problems with acceleration driving up the mountains. Ended up being a major oil leak that covered the transmission and the whole intake manifold needed to be replaced. This happened less than a week before I was supposed to drive to Washington and back then right to California the following day. They fixed it in less than 24hrs and aired up my tires for me. Super pleased with the service here.

I was behind on maintenance of my vehicle and wanted to catch up before I have any problems so I figured I'd start with my spark plugs. Going in to make an appointment for spark plugs he talked me into a diagnostic for $89 instead of just "throwing parts at it" because I had mentioned it has a ticking sound. I wasn't trying to get that fixed though, I just wanted to catch up on my maintenance, but I agreed. In talking to my son he reminded me that my car does need spark plugs, haven't they haven't been changed in 4 years and almost 50,000 miles, so I called the shop and said let's go with the original plan and was quoted $250 to change 4 spark plugs that are right on top of engine under a plastic cover on my Chevy HHR. Although I have barely any knowledge about car repair that seems incredibly high so I'm not going there to have car repair done. I gave two stars because I stand by my review of their other shop in Meridian.

Took my FJ Cruiser in for an inspection to see if something was wrong with my back tires/brakes. Ended up getting my struts replaced. Justin told me during the replacement, my ABS light came on so, they replaced the front ABS sensor (for free, claims he did it out of good will, was not included on my paperwork or had my signature to replace those). After replacing the ABS sensor, they couldn't get my ABS lights to come off on my dash (ABS light, parking brake light, traction light), Justin told me they tried to reset - to drive it around and after 200 miles, the lights should come off. They didn't. So I brought it back. They inspected again (free of charge), Justin later called to tell me they couldn't figure out what was wrong and to take it to Toyota Peterson. So I did. Toyota technician found that the wiring was stretched during replacement of my struts. He also said during replacement of the ABS sensor, that Dowdy's reset all the programming. I was extremely transparent and gave Justin the Toyota technician's number so, he could discuss it further. Justin finally gave me a call to tell me it was no fault of Dowdy's what so ever and that he would not be fixing or helping with the payment... which was about $1100. Let me add, I have had this car for over 5 years and have never had an issue with ABS, regardless of the lift, which Justin said was the issue and "this issue would happen to you eventually." Those lights have never come on except the day I brought it home from Dowdy's when they messed with the ABS sensor. I am astounded to say the least that the store manager wouldn't own up to it even the slightest. Claiming the Toyota technician told him the exact opposite of what I have paper work to prove. I am not one to go and give negative reviews but, I am truly disappointed in the lack of respect, analyzing of the situation, and blatant disregard of mistake. Don't go to Dowdy's if you want to pay $1300 for a strut replacement and then leave with your dash board lights on, for them to tell you they don't know what's wrong BUT, that its your fault it happened.

Super friendly and honest people. Needed an oil change and have been having some squeakyness in the brakes so got an inspection too. The inspection was free and there was no pressure to get my breaks replaced even though the pads were down to about 2mm. They also filled up my tires while they were at it which were 5 pounds under pressure and sent me on my way.

Taylor F was super personable and helpful- he took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and was honest and genuine. He communicated everything well and made sure to clarify so that we were both on the same page at all important junctures- as well as being judgment free on what I wasn t sure I wanted to pay for yet or not. According to the (also very thorough) paperwork that displays what they did and what needs to be done Wes H did the work on the car. Based on my conversations with Taylor, Wes was as thorough as everything else they ve done so far. I m excited to have found a mechanic shop that feels like they re doing everything right and being rad about it. These guys deserve raises!

Would definitely recommend this shop if you have anything wrong with your car. My alternator went out and they fixed it within one day of calling. It is also pretty reasonably priced for auto repairs these days. I felt like they were very knowledgeable and filled me in on everything throughout the process. Will come back if I ever need to.

These guys are AWESOME. This is my second time coming to them with a car emergency and I can confidently say that they actually care about providing good service. They communicate so well and don t do any services without providing pricing (provided via phone call for any questions and also sent in a text message) and receive approval.

Stay as far away from this place as possible!! I went in there and asked them how much it would cost to replace a blend door AC accuator and the 2 guys working there told me it would be $1500 to $2000 because they would have to remove the whole dash and it would be 8 hours of labor. I knew this didn't sound right so I called my cousin who is a 37 year veteran mechanic and he said thats insane and for me to call a local Meineke and they should tell you it should only be around $230 to $300, sure enough I called my local Meineke and the owner qouted me $225 and he told me you don't have to remove the dash board and that you only have to remove the bottom panel and then just pop it right in and it should only be a half hours worth of work and thats exaclty what I ended up paying at Meineke. Thank God for my cousin and thank God for the honest guy at Meineke.

Brandon at the Federal Way branch diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, and got them installed within 3 business days. The part was faulty but Brandon and Dowdy stood behind their work and got the car back up and running within one business day. I have used Dowdy's for eight years and have always been satisfied with their work and the fact that they stand behind their work.
