I just went to Gearheadz for a vehicle inspection, and I knew I was going to like this place when I saw a magnet with my classic '68 Plymouth at the top right corner of their fridge. Jason is a class act. He got me in for the inspection in about 5 minutes, and he was so friendly, as we shared stories of our classic cars. In and out was probably less than 15 minutes and I was on my way. I will definitely be back to do all my vehicle inspections (and service - they do that too) in the future. Went there right before closing to ask them a question about a signal light problem I was having. Evan asked me to bring the vehicle in to try a quick test that might fix it. The test did not fix the problem but he did tell me what I needed to fix it. The effort and information was much appreciated. Good bunch of guys over there.

I had such an amazing experience at Gearheadz! Not only did they take the time to educate me on Hawaii DMV regulations, but they went the extra mile to make sure my car was safe, sold me a used tire (which I had been searching for) and they made me feel like an important customer. I will come back for all my personal needs and I highly recommend the staff at Gearheadz to everyone. Those gentlemen are a class act! I've done business with a couple of other garages on the island over the past two decades, but since I found Gearheadz a few years ago I would never use anyone else! Friendly, Honest and dependable service at very reasonable prices. No hype or unnecessary up-sales. I trust them, and I have only heard good stories about them from other people!

We just moved to Waimea and needed a very small thing fixed on our Honda. Gearheadz team fixed it while we were waiting and didn t charge us. We then took our car there for an oil change. Good price, friendly service. We ll be going there for our next scheduled service for sure. 100% reccomend.A quick update - a few months later - we took our Honda back for its 60k service. They could have easily followed the recommended service and charged a few hundred even for work not needed. Instead, they inspected everything and only found the engine oil to be a problem. They are quickly building trust with us. Additionally, our headlight covers have that brown, Hawaiian glaze the makes the headlights dim. We asked if they could clean that off and for an hours labor, they are *totally* like new.

Can't say enough good stuff about this shop. Jason and the guys were a pleasure to do business with. Courteous, professional, passionate about what they do. Customer service 10/10 as well. Drove me to a coffee shop nearby while my truck was being worked on. Then picked me up. Seriously a very pleasant experience from every aspect. tried to get my wheels mounted with everyone in kona and they all had excuses on why it couldn t be done, texted a buddy of mine from here and they got it done same day less then an hour. and the price was less then half of the quote all r&g and firestone. i ll definitely be back guys Service: TiresService: Tires

These Braddahz are amazing!! I had a melt down! my car was giving me problems. I know anything about cars! So I came by and asked if they could diagnose my car. they found the problem and fixed it right away. I immediately felt a huge relief lifted off my shoulders. thank you guys so much I truly appreciate you guys from the bottom of my heart. If it wasn t for them i probably would have spent the night in Waimea away from my Babies (I live Hilo) Mahalo nui loa May God bless you all

These guys are absolutely THE BEST!!! I would not trust my car to anyone else...anywhere. I always know that when my car goes in for whatever it needs, it will come out better because THEY REALLY CARE. Find THAT anywhere else!!

When our vehicle started overheating we took it to Gearheadz to get it sorted. We were immediately greeted by Evan who made us feel very welcome and couldn t do more to help us out. He was very accommodating to all our requests and organised our vehicle to be looked at within the hour despite them having a full afternoon of work already! When it was identified that our vehicle would not be fixable on the same day Jason very kindly arranged transport for us back to our accommodation. All in all, we couldn t have asked for a friendlier bunch to help us out, and would 100% recommend them to anyone!

My car broke down, I needed to tow my car somewhere. I called Gearheadz and asked if I could have it towed to their lot. I had never done business with these folks at this point. So, I go in the next day they tell me my engine was blown. Jason asked me what was I going to do for a car? Then he said take one of ours tell you get things worked out. Such unbelievable aloha pure and simple is what this was. Kindness for no reason. This is why I moved to Hawaii 42 years ago the kindness. I will take my car and refer all my friends to these folks!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

We were stranded at the NAPA next door and Gearheadz was kind enough to fit us into thier schedule last minute to replace the alternator and fried cables. So happy we found Gearheadz! We had to stop here an hour before they closed when we got a flat tire on our drive from Hilo to Kona. From the moment I called, they were so nice and said they d look out for us to come in.They were even kind and engaging with my toddler in the car! So sweet. Very efficient and effective service that saved time and money, they prevented us from having to deal with ordering and buying a new tire. I consider myself very lucky to have found Gearheadz with the best crew on the island, or maybe even the state of Hawaii! Very competent mechanics, easy to make an appointment and they are all very service minded and friendly. I got a problem with my BMW right before closing time on a Friday recently and they went out of their way to help me get my car driveable before the weekend, and succeeded. I highly recommend these guys for any job, small or big.

First experience with their crew and great customer service. They helped me diagnose a check engine light, so I was able to get the right part the first time and resolve the issue. Definitely giving them a call for the next vehicle service that gets beyond what I can do at home. Had a nice conversation while there, and these are a bunch of auto enthusiasts/gear heads.

I myself am very mechanically inclined, and for that reason, it's hard for me to find a shop that I like because when I'm talking to the mechanics, if I feel like they're not listening to me, or not understanding my issue, I won't leave my vehicle there and will just move onto another shop. So with that being said, when I brought my truck to Gearheadz, they actually listened and I felt very comfortable in their knowledge and competence. No need to look for another shop. Super cool guys, professional & very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend Gearheadz in Waimea to anyone needing mechanical work done.

Squeezed me in for a last minute safety inspection and the whole process was super friendly. Very communicative and trustworthy. Worth it to go here. Feels like everyone s a family here and takes care of one another. Evan helped me out with complications on my vehicle registration and was super nice!

These guys are great! They went out of their way to try and patch my truck up so I could drive it home to Hilo but my power steering pump couldn't be patched up and had to be replaced. I left my truck with them and they did a great job researching and sourcing the right way to fix my problem. I'd highly recommend these guys to anyone I know.

Update as of May 4th:As a recap I had stated in a previous review (5 months prior to today), I had gone in for an oil change and they tried to rip me off. Told me I had balding tires and needed new breaks and rotors all around. The issue was, I had put all 4 brand new tires on not even 4 months prior. Its also worth mentioning I was full time furloughed and during quarantine so I had barely driven my car at all. My tires were above 98% tread life. First lie. So I had someone else look at my breaks and rotors to find out they were at 40/50% front to back. Second lie.Fast forward to today. Had another oil change done (not with Gearheadz). When I picked up my car the mechanic tells me the last people that changed the oil filter had left the bolt almost round . Meaning they tightened it so hard it changed the shape of the bolt. Now I have to get that part replaced too. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE. Idk what happened. I have now heard of others with similar trouble from this auto shop. Avoid it.Service: Oil change
