Great price for a compact car rental for the day. The car was a little rough on the outside but it ran great. They had great friendly service and tips for exploring the island. The office is a little messy and the cars are a little older, but I would definitely rent from them in the future. For a small fee they drove us back to our ship. Overall great experience!

Best rent a car. Fair deal, cars are great and easy in and out with a special note to see the attractions. The staff are the owners ask for Joel, his wife or their son. Just amazing! Thank you and Be Blessed,Jim B. and my daughter Sydnie B.

If you don t know where to get your rental and don t want to bail out $900 for a Camry for 5 days hit up Island Cars!!I didn t know who to go with and ended up going with them based on reviews, the owner is a great dude, he ll hook you up with all the good spots and for a fantastic price. This comes with cars that have slight scratches and stuff.Our jeep had some sun fading/peeling paint and some scratches but it helped us blend in perfectly and granted access to any spot we wanted. Locals would stop to let us turn.. and for just $480 for a week!!I usually don t write reviews but i had to for whoever is now looking for the review I was.

My husband and I had a very smooth experience renting a car from Joel at Island Cars, Lihue, Kauai. We got picked up at the hotel and left the car in the hotel parking lot for pickup. A very convenient and trustworthy establishment in our experience! (Hi Luke, you make a great mascot!)

Great experience and will absolutely rent from them again. Easy pickup and friendly and fast check-in; they even offered a review/map of some of the best places to go on the island for food/activities. Our truck was well-loved aesthetically but absolutely in fine working order and got us everywhere we wanted to go around the island for half the price we would have paid with any other company. Business is easy to get to and get in/out quickly because it s away from the chaos of the on-site airport rental companies. Lovely local ownership and a very sweet doggo to say hello to at the office. They kindly gave me a ride back to the airport after I dropped the truck off. 10/10, stop looking at other options and rent from Island Cars!

I did not actually compare prices, primarily I rented here for these 4 reasons though:A. I liked the guy ( the owner operator) on the phone &when I met him. I felt like he was square with me..B. I was referred by a local..C. I most commonly like to support very small businessesD. It did appear to be a reasonable savings.Edward Kopen-Indian Wells California

Two things that mattered to us when renting a car and that's the air conditioning has to be working and that the car will get us from point A to point B. If you are looking for the newest car with all of the gizmos, this isn't the place for you. If you want a reliable car but may be older or may have some minor dents, then this is the place for you. For us, the price was the best on the island. Joel picked us from the airport in the car that we would be renting. It was a very short wait. The process was quick after filling out the paperwork and we were on the road in no time. Only thing we missed was that the car stereo wasn't working but we had our phones to listen to some island vibes. The process of returning the car is easy and they can drop you off to the airport. We look forward to renting from them again on our next Kauai vacation. Thanks Joel and thanks Island Cars!!

Island cars was great! I love the fact that they are a local family ran business. The price is unbeatable! We got a van as we were a group of 7. We had no problems at all and the air conditioning was perfect! The check in and out was quick and easy. Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use island car s again when I visit Kauai and I highly recommend them!

This is a great business. They do not make you wait hours like the other rentals by the airport and tack on extra fees. Very nice service and easy to business with. Prices are super reasonable. I will rent again from him next year. Thanks Joel.

Island Rental Cars was spectacular! Easy, affordable, reliable, and made our trip to Kauai that much better. We loved working with the friendly staff, and how easy it was to get a hold of them. We even got picked up at the airport, and drop off was simple and fast. Do yourself a favor and just book with Island Cards now - you won't regret it!

A guy picked us up from the airport in a dirty somewhat beater of a Honda. Never said hello, didn't help with luggage. Took us to the rental place where we signed the papers. Turns out that the beater Honda was our car! Didn't want to touch anything inside the car! General grime. The car ran fine during our 5-day stay on Kauai. But we won't use them again.

Very friendly and helpful. They were able to provide a toddler car seat for us.Rented two mini vans. A little worn but both worked fine. One battery died and they came to our hotel immediately with another vehicle which we ended up keeping for the rest of the trip.Definitely less expensive than major car rental companies.

We rented a car for 4 weeks in December 2023. The service provided was excellent. The cost was very reasonable. We had a tire problem and Joel solved it quickly and efficiently. We will definitely use Island Cars for all our future car rentals.

Great service. Great Price. Friendly staff. Close to the airport (walkable or quick ride share). So nice not having to use one of the major national rental companies. Planning on using Island Cars for every visit!

Great company to work with and rent from. We were on the cruise ship and wanted to rent a car for the day and they offered to pick us up and drop us off at the ship for a low fee (much cheaper than a taxi or Uber would have been). The car was clean and ran well...absolutely no complaints. Their website explains that their cars are a little older and have more character, which we had no problem with. Will definitely use them again when we get back to Kauai!

Island Cars was amazing to work with! My friend and I hadn t completely worked out how to plan our travels on the island and the concierge at our hotel recommended we contact Joel at Island Cars. He is super friendly and it was so easy to rent a car. Joel picked us up and dropped us off when the rental was done. He also gave some great recommendations since it was our first visit to Kaua'i. I would highly recommend his business.

Great experience, our Nissan Versa was a perfect size and perfect car for what we needed. Pickup at the airport was very perfect as our car was waiting for us as our flight was very delayed. company allowed us to show up the next day to settle our outstanding bill and we re very nice. When we visit Kauai again we will be sure to book with island Cars. If you are reading reviews to see what company you should rent with you can stop here, locally owned and operated this is the company to support during your vacation. Mahalo

Joel at Island Cars was very helpful and provided great service in both booking and delivery for our week-long rental. While it was an older Toyota with noticeable dings, it was dependable and comfortable with excellent mileage. Overall, the significant savings on the rental rate made it a good value.

Joel is the most caring, professional, friendly guy! Truly so accommodating and ensuring that you re taken care of and have what you need to get around the island. Was flexible in me extending my rental an additional day and made sure I had transportation after I returned my rental. The cars are reliable, and exactly what you need. If you are coming to the island, only use Island Cars

I wouldn t use this car company again, the pick up and sorting the car was very chaotic - but the worst bit was that the car they gave us - the brakes would not work properly which was very difficult and scary going down the canyon, and the condition of the car was awful. Confusing and disappointing as the rest of the reviews are quite positive! I would recommend laying the difference and going for a different company

Island Cars is a great place to rent a late model car at a discount. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'm unsure what the typical year of your car is likely to be, but you could ask if this is an issue for you. We got a 2008 Honda CRV, which was absolutely perfect for us. If we're lucky enough to return to Kaua'i, we will rent from Island Cars again. Highly recommended.

Definitely the way to go over airport car rental! It s just a 4 min drive/ Uber (or apparently you can even walk a half hour if you re feeling like getting your steps in). Super easy and better prices than what you ll find at the airport. Happy to support local and a perfect cruiser for around the island.

We have used this company for years & highly recommend it to Kauai visitors. Cars are well-maintained & reliable. Owners go out of their way to accommodate our requests. We especially like being picked up at the airport upon our arrival & dropped off for our departure. The quality of service is the best, and prices can't be beat.

We recently rented a car from Island cars during our visit to Kauai from a cruise ship,they were super friendly and flexible the car was ready for us before they even opened they let us sign the waiver and leave with the car and dealt with the paper work upon our return. they even offered a ride back to the ship for a small fee which was truly appreciated after a long day of visiting the incredible island. Great service and good car. totally satisfied we absolutely recommend fair prices we were happy to encourage a local business. we are definitely going back and will rent from them again for sure. thanks for making our experience smoothe and enjoyable! Owners were great. Picked us up at the hotel and went back to the car rental company. The car was perfect and trusted us and everyone else to leave the car in the parking lot unlocked with key under mat when we were done with the car. Thank you for your service. (Loved your pup also)

I ve been renting Island Cars for the past 20 years and it s always been a great experience. I m taken care of with the car/ SUV I need, it s comfortable and I always get one with great A/C. They re clean and I love never worrying about looking like a tourist. Thank you for always taking great care of me!

I have used Island Rentals twice now and both times it was smooth and easy to get the car when coming off the cruise ship. Joel and Terry work very hard in minimizing the time between picking you up near the cruise ship to getting you sent on your way. They are also helpful in showing you were to go and what to see in the amount of time you have to visit. I ll rent from them next time I m in Kauai.
