Always busy. So hard to even get in touch with clerk as they rarely answer or are unable to answer the phone. The waiting room could use a good cleaning and I fear there's no bathroom easily accessible to customers. They are pretty conveniently located, being between Safeway and Costco in Lihue, so if you've got a long wait, you can shop.

These are the rotors they said needed to be replaced I had no brake grabbing no issues other than a intermittent squealer - 29000 miles on the truck NO abnormal wear on the rotors - could hardly feel the wear with your finger- yes the pads were worn and needed to be changed that is why the squeal- also said the calipers needed to be changed because they might not release going down the road. NO evidence of that at all when driving -So the cost of OEM $69.52 pads? $801.68. This was 04/04 2022 Not a good way to treat anyone. Went here a couple years ago because my check engine light was going off. I scanned it myself and it said it was a t-map sensor. After I replace the tmap and mass air flow sensor I brought it here and they said it was a mass airflow sensor. I said since I just replaced that sensor maybe it's the PCV valve They responded that they didn't even know that was. That should have been my sign right there to have never gone here. They replaced the mass air flow sensor which involves two screws and a $17 part, however charge me $300 for it. For the first 30 mi it ran fine but then the check engine light came back on. I thought about bringing it back to the shop, but I honest felt they were just trying to milk me for as much money as possible. Come two later I figured I would try Gray's out again for a simple belt tensioner repair. When I brought it there I told the mechanic how I have an idler pulley in the car, and if that needs to replace as well please do so. When I got the car back at the end of the day the mechanic was telling me how the idler pulley was making a noise and how I would have to bring the car back to get it replaced. By this point I had little to no faith in Gray's anymore. This is my first one-star review ever, but I feel it's pretty justified.

Glen the Owner of Gary's is the bomb! He is a straight shooter with an excellent reputation! I knew His Dad Gary who is in heaven. Both are so much alike with knowledge and people care. Some might consider him a shrewd business man; that's their choice. I don't see him like that. I respect him a lot! I also enjoy learning about parts refurbished and or new where usually both have lifetime warranties! And discussions on choice. To Glen, "please don't retire!" Staff! Amazing; Mahalo for your speedy service!

Terrible customer service. Rude and disrespectful. Took vehicle to dealership, at Gary s order. Gary just said we can fix it . NO SUGGESTED OR INDICATED RESOLUTION?!?! Dealership diagnosed as transmission issue. Gary s should have known this much, even if you can not repair the issue. I hope I never have to use them again.

I have been coming here for more than 6 years total so far and nothing but great service and good experience. Sorry to hear about other people's negative experiences. Like any other places staff can sound rude and forget to smile sometimes but I have been to worse places. Price here is fair and service is fast. I have not brought any of my vehicles here for major repairs but I always come here for inspections and when there is something that I cannot fix myself. I hope to continue to have positive experiences at Gary's.

Highly recommend Gary s Services, one of the most humbling man I know and really takes care of his customers. When you first meet him it s like you ve known him for years- just all around cool dude and his awesome staff are very pono. Genuine place to get your car fixed you won t regret it! May God continue to bless his business coworkers and everyone who gives him business! Thank you my friend I will never forget your act of kindness!

Absolutely the worse service and over charge!!! They made me pay $83 for a oil change plus labor. They said on the description they vacuumed my car and that definitely did not happen. What else did they not do that they said they did. They don t know what they talking about and you tell them one thing and do the other or have to tell them multiple times to get it through their head. Never going there again. I don t even wanna give them a one star they need zero.Service: Oil change

You can come to this place for safety checks but not for other issues. I'm new to this island and bought a used car. My check engine light came on and a friend recommended this place. I wish I went directly to the dealership which my other friend suggested but I want to save some money so I went to this place instead.Made an appointment, was there told them my check engine light was on. They changed the thermostat and charged almost $300. 3 weeks after check engine light was on again and this time when I start the car, its shaking and I can hear water noise in the front. I took it back to Gary's without appointments. They said spark plugs and ignition coils needed to be changed, quote was $500+. Honestly I wanted to back out upon seeing the price but I had to do it. The next day when I started the car, the engine made a different noise and can still hear the water noise. When I left work at night, the check engine light came on again. I was driving home crying and didn't know what to do.I called a friend who is a car mechanic and told him the problem, he said I just got scammed. The problem might be the water pump. I wish I can get my money back. This place doesn't know what they're supposed to do with the problem of the car and they should be closed down for scamming people.I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ANY OTHER CAR ISSUES.

Unprofessional rude and dishonest.When I arrived I was immediately told I wouldn t pass for safety until I got two new tires. Got the tires fitted and was back in forty minutes. They asked me to move my vehicle but wouldn t give me my key to do so. Ignored me when I said they had my key and left me waiting. Then rudely told me again I need to move my vehicle. This time they told me I needed to repair my bumper. They could have told me this the first time. When I was on my way out the door they stopped me and asked if I wanted a temporary safety, i said yes. So they charged my card then out the garage door handed my husband a voided failed safety check. This is misleading and dishonest on top of the beyond rude service.

This place attempted to fail me for state inspection based on a faulty brake indicator light on my dash. Glen and the receptionist acknowledged my brakes are functional, but insist that inspection covers indicator lights (it doesn't). His rationale was that if the brakes develop a problem, "maybe two months from now", he doesn't want to be held responsible for passing me now. State inspection tests current functionality of the vehicle. It doesn't assume a condition that currently does not exist. He is clearly attempting to coerce me into paying him for a brake inspection because he charges hundreds for that, as opposed to $23 for inspection. I went straight to another mechanic and passed immediately.

Gary is a kook... maybe he just hates people, or his job. You can waste your money there, but I wouldn't waste your time. He can't wait to call you a liar makes and no eye contact himself. Makes you wonder if you can trust him at all.Should rebranded as "Gary no like Service"!

this was the worst service ever ! I will never return & I'm letting everyone know .... Gary himself was unprofessional , His staff was Horrible ... All I wanted was my safety check that I paid for it the day before , came back and they said I had to put my license plate on before they can issue my safety check . No tools .... they made me wait in parking lot until license plate was on .... no tools , no one came ,finally I found some wire to wire it on.... They Gary came out and said , it's going to fall off ... than his clerk came out took a picture with safety check in hand , and put it on the wrong side .....

These guys are fast and efficient, very by the book as far as safety inspection. Can't review quality of repair service quality as I haven't used their services for that.
