I have been using Kihei Automotive for a couple of years now. My 2006 Honda pilot is not the easiest SUV to work on. Kihei automotive was always precise, punctual, fair, and a good value.Peter MKihei.

A friend saw an ad for A/C recharge here and I called because my a/c not working and I couldn t get an appointment at Subaru for more than a month, it s too hot to go that long without a/c. A friend checked my car and said my compressor wasn t working. I showed up for my 7:30 appointment I needed to wait for my car, quoted to have info my noon. I was so happy to find out that instead of a new compressor I needed 2 new hoses and a lot of a/c recharge and in a bit more than two hours I was on my way. Personally I was a mess when I showed up and zJohn was very kind and caring. I will be back and recommend bringing your car here. Mahalo, MahaloServices: Auto A/C recharge, Air conditioning

Never wrote a review before but thought appropriate in this situation: Bought a used 2008 Toyota Highlander. Previous owner's roommate was mechanic and told me that the Fuse box B in engine compartment had issue other than that all good. So I bought used Fuse box B off Ebay and it fixed issue of headlights problem but two days later car would not start.. So I brought it in to Kihei AutomotiveI told John I will follow tow truck in and show what part I replaced, he said no worries we will test all and find issue. I said okay. He called me few days later and said he had spent 3 hours diagnosing and still had not found the problem and if I wanted him to keep going since he was +$300 into it. I said yeah, but I feel like the problem has to be something with fuse box and headlights that I replaced. He called back next day and said found the problem, and it was the Fuse Box B, that I had replaced and I owed $550 for his diagnostic!Now I don't doubt that he spent 4-5 hours diagnosing, I just feel like he was not listening to me and it cost me! ..Or it just takes him that long to find problem? I said its crazy if someone tells you the problem then $550 later you tell him its the same problem. John explained he had to test everything to find the issue and its why he doesn't buy aftermarket parts. Okay so I'm minus $550 now.John wanted to charge me extra $700 to fix problem. $500 for new Fuse box and $200 to install. I explained, I installed already, it literally took me 45 seconds to slide in the new fuse box with two clips. He shrugged shoulders. So returned damaged fuse box to ebay got refund and got a new one and fixed problem myself, car ran fine...Problem 2: two weeks later)there was a battery drain somewhere; so i tried pulling fuses to find. Like idiot I put fuses back wrong (didnt know) and car would not start. Since John and Kihei automotive knew car, I thought humorously okay, lets bring it back to them to figure out why car wont start.I really felt like I was nice and considerate during this whole process. Have to say John was nice and respectful in return. John called and said yup was a missing fuse and that fixed the problem. I was grateful such a simple problem and hoping when I get bill he would cut me some slack since it was replacing a fuse, or maybe he would take quick look at battery drain. I get bill. $133 to replace fuse. No diagnostic on battery drain.Now I know mechanics time is valuable. But wow I feel like he screwed me so bad on this deal!! $680 to just tell me, have a problem where I told him problem was, and to put in a new fuse. I mean take this story for what you will, it could not be more than 100% accurate and even unbiased when accounting all details here. But I promise I will never take my car to Kihei Automotive again and make sure none of my friends on island do as well

I would highly highly recommend. My car broke down, and John the owner recommended A speedy tow with reasonable price. John diagnose the problem and had it fixed within 24 hours. Fair price

I am an off-Island buyer, and John, the owner, went above and beyond to examine my future truck. His service and price alone are worth the visit. What will always stick with me, however, is how personally caring he was to me. After finding out that we had just had our first child, he prayed over us! Who else would do that?! John is a great person that also happens to be a great mechanic and I am so glad that I found him.

Super grateful they were able to get my old car up and running again. Highly recommend. Very quick and communicative. They try to make the best use of your money when doing diagnostics. They're dependable, accurate work is most appreciated. I'm always able to get an appointment at my convenience. The cost is reasonable and it fits my budget. I'm always notified if they found other things that needs repaired outside of what I came in to the shop for. Professional caring, knowledgeable , licensed mechanics on staff. I've been a customer for many years and I never had to return for a job not done well beyond my expectations. Thank you kihei Automotive mechanics, you are the best and worth more than 5 stars.

Excellent service, excellent and competent staff. Moderate with suggestions for repairs (honest and will fix only what is needed.) Trustworthy and best Auto Repair Shop on Maui. First time was great, friendly and service was great and cost was affordable. They always let me know prices before doing work. My dad has been going here for years. Second time was also great, quick brake service and a couple days later John called (I wasn't home but my mom took the message) to see if everything was alright. It's the first time in my life that's happened by a car mechanic.

Went in to give the vehicle I had just purchased a routine check up and John and the staff were very helpful. John went through everything with me to make sure I knew what was going on with my car and what may be a problem in the future. I felt like they had my best interests in mind without ulterior motives. Kind and genuine guys! Their service will keep my business!

I just had a wonderful and welcoming experience here! Received an oil change and to my pleasant surprise my car had been vacuumed seats and all upon pickup! The staff is so friendly and genuine. They helped me with walking directions so I could juggle a couple other errands/ appts while my car was worked on. Fees like a small town vibe here where they greet you by first name and really get to know and value their customers. Mahalo!

I have taken my older Honda Pilot to Kihei Automotive several times and have had a great experience. John, the owner, is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to explain everything. He always finishes his work on schedule at the price quoted. I recommend his shop to everyone I know.

Came in for something silly as a maintenence required from (previous oil change not reset, as I was explained) and they were super busy but John still came out to explain and correct it for me. Noticing another problem and quoting me a fair price.Much appreciated as a novice in cars I was nervous driving around .Because that kindness I will now take my car there for whatever it may need :)

Had a very pleasant experience with Kihei Automotive with my oil change. Not only I paid less than quoted, but got done sooner too. John put a chair under a tree so I sat in the shade while waiting. I also appreciated that John gave me heads up on my vehicle.

Kihei Automotive diagnosed my car with a fair price. John was very honest about the condition of my car trouble, gave me detailed information and he was very friendly. Although I can t get the work done yet, I am glad that I came and would highly recommend. Thanks!

Brought car in for diagnostic test. Paul said if they could not find the problem, the would not charge me. After testing they asked for 3 hours more in diagnostic time to see if what they suspected was true. If true, they quoted me over $5000 to repair which would be over $3000 more than what the dealer quoted to me. Dealer diagnosed completely different problem. Kihei Automotive refused to refund their diagnostic charge, saying they spent time on the vehicle. They knew when I brought it in that they would spend time on the vehicle and should not have made guarantee if they would not honor it. John refused to let me speak to the owner. Bureau of Automotive Repair suggested I file a complaint about bait and switch. My complaint is that they made a guarantee they did not honor, and quoted me an exhorbitantly ridiculous price for a repair. I am guessing they erred in quoting me 3 times for a part that comes as one unit instead of 3 pieces as they had stated. I will be filing complaint.

Having car service is not my most favorite thing to do, but the staff at Kihei Automotive have changed my perspective. I have found them to be fair, professional, accurate in their advice - and more than once I have left actually paying less than I had expected. I trust them and highly recommend their service.

SO kind! I m driving a car that I m not familiar with and the low tire pressure warning light came on. I don t know anything about cars, so I took it to Kihei Automotive, and they put air in and were so friendly!! I wish I could transport them back to Portland to be my local auto repair shop

the guys there are super friendly and service is ok for maintenance (cheap and fast oil change). but they're NOT PONO! they quoted me $800 for a job that required $100 in parts, and was a 30mn job for a non-professional without specialized tools. i understand they have overheads, but this is really stretching it and taking advantage of people! shame. take your business elsewhere, to someone you can trust.
