I usually work on my car but I had a leaky PS hose and being unable to lift the car up to check further, I took it to K auto to check for further leakage. Alan warned me they would have to charge for time and I told him that it was fine, expecting 30 minutes of labor MAX. Come back at the end of the day for a $100 invoice. When I asked what they did he said they found the a leak (the same one I told him about) and that they didn't even put the car up. I asked if they checked the fluid and/or reservoir to which he told me that its something I can do on my own. ??? I then asked why he charged me so much for labor. His reply was "research for the part". He called one shop to check and even though he told me they had it, I called and went in only to find out they don't even carry my year. I don't know if he even called.Wouldn't recommend this shop if you want your car properly looked at.Won't be making this $100 mistake again.Giving two-stars because they were able to accommodate me without an appointment. Now I know why...

This morning my steering wheel locked up around the corner from Kaimuki Auto Repair. I called and spoke with Alan who talked me through how to solve the issue. So much gratitude for their aloha this morning. They will be my go-to for any other needs from now on. Mahalo!!

Local Spot. My go-to for car related issues if I have to go somewhere. They honestly do their best to accommodate you. Boasted as cheapest gas in the Kaimuki area. Bonus; You can't make an appointment for safety check, but if you make an appointment for say a alignment or a tire change with that safety check, you can do one appointment. Just something to keep in mind..

Alan and Gerald are Da Best! They plugged my tire in 15 minutes and only cost me $30. They even helped me out before they opened at 8:00 am. Much Mahalos!

The owner of Kaimuki auto is not honest. One day my driver side wiper wouldn't move so I brought it in and after leaving car for couple of days he claimed that my windshield wiper transmission arm was mechanically broken and he said I needed a new one and charged 260.00 for the part and another 250 or so to install it but I had to wait a week cause they were busy. That night I saw my neighbor and he said he had that happen to him and all it was was a plastic bushing that popped out and the part was 12.00. when I went back Kaimuki auto to ask if he was sure they checked to see if it was the whole arm that needed replaced he said yes they checked but I was skeptical and told him I wanted to return the wiper trans arm and he refused after calling a few times they said they will keep 30.00. so I got refund minus 30.00. Due to this I had to drive my car without a driver side wiper for 7 months always checking weather reports until I finally got another mechanic who took apart the vent plate and found that only the plastic bushing popped off and he installed a new one for 70.00. The part was 12.00. when I told k auto, the lady, the owners daughter, just as arrogant as him said no... They need to look into it. So feeling like I would not get my refund I let it go for 3 months then finally got the nerve to call back and the lady said I don't care I don't want to deal with this anymore and told me come down and they would give me check I got only 21.00

Called for safety inspection. Said they still accepted people and I could come immediately. I was there a few min later. Was welcomed by a rude gentleman with an attitude. Was told I should come back an hour later as the purpose of me coming was just to get me in line. Refused and went to jiffy lube down the road. Smooth process. Everyone out there had a weird and non chaland attitude .As I read more reviews I see it s recurrent that they treat certain category of people poorly. Be aware. Feels discriminatory.

I do not recommend kaimuki auto repair and I will never go back for any services. Their owner and staff are very unprofessional, short tempered, and rude without any reason. They were extremely sexist and made negative, demeaning comments straight to my face and in front of other customers. I was beyond uncomfortable and the way they continued to escalate their frustration made me feel unsafe. The whole situation made my safety inspection take way longer than it needed to and how they handled themselves was completely unacceptable.

We had to wait a little bit, but as soon as the mechanic was ready he could fix our tire in less than 5 min. Very professional!

Took my car here for a safety check, ask to leave my registration and they will call when its my turn, said in about an hour. No problem I thought, almost 2.5 hours later I get a call to come back. They take my car to do a check, came back and said I need a belt replaced because it was cracking to the tune of $200. Showed me the belt and I m not seeing any cracks, said no thanks. Took my car somewhere else for safety check and passed without an issue. Suspect place, won t be back.

Workers are rude. Sent me away without even listening to me, had a feeling it was because I'm female and they think I don't know what I'm talking about. Reality is they don't know what much about cars.

This place is small but the best service in town! Needed a vehicle safety inspection and this place made it so easy. I went early and within an hour I was called for my inspection. Laurie was awesome! She was thorough and quickly took care of us. We needed to repair a small item and return which we did and we were done! I highly recommend them for any service because they get it done and have excellent customer service!Service: Vehicle safety inspection

Two weeks ago, on my way back home in Kaimuki my 2005 Toyota Matrix started making a rough loud rumbling sound ( like it was going to die. )So I stopped into Kaimuki Auto Repair. They were extremely busy but Mr. Alan Nakamuratook the time to quickly check my car.He could'nt fix it right then but gave me the soonest appointment possible. Also he reassured me that I could at least drive it home. I really appreciate him going the extra mile to help me out even when he did'nt have enough time to take a much needed break. He is a great people person and that's priceless.

Alan and his crew are the best! I am the second generation in my family going here. I can count on them to be honest and fully trust them. I just moved back from CA after 11+ years and Alan recognized my family right away. Just keep in mind that this place is busy but I don't mind waiting for the great service we receive.Service: Vehicle InspectionService: Vehicle Inspection

I always go here to get my safety check done. It's fast service, but if there is a lot of people in front of you, you can go run errands, and they will take your phone number and call you when it's your turn.If you have a headlight or turn signal light that is burnt out, they have it, and will replace it on the spot before finishing your safety check. Super efficient, affordable, and there's seating outside where you can wait in the shade.Their cold drink fridge has Aloha Maid and Gatorade.

I drove in as they were about to close for the day. They found a giant nail in the tire and unfortunately the tire could not be saved. Luckily, they were kind enough to patch up my tire for a temporary fix. Mahalo!

This place slaps, they took good care of me in an extremely timely manner. I took my 2006 Nissan Sentra in that was idling rough w/ the engine light on and they got it back in my hands in two days without costing me an arm and a leg. Very happy with this service, I ll be back for my regular safety s and oil changes.

I wasn't going to post a review until they scratched my car and didn't feel the need to say anything about it. I had an appointment and was 5 minutes early and still ended up waiting an extra hour past my appointment time for them to do a simple oil change. They're disorganized and would stop talking to me when I was just trying to pay to help someone else. The owner talked down to me the whole time saying I probably didn't know about the repairs they wanted to do because I'm "young". I tried to go to them because they're in a convenient place and I like to support local businesses but I won't be back.

A+ service! I am so thankful I found an honest auto shop. I like that this is a family run business. I dealt mostly with Laurie and she was amazing. We communicated back and forth about my insurance and she made a confusing situation feel effortless and stress free. I will definitely take all my car issues to Kaimuki Auto Repair.

Not very happy with the honesty of this place. When I ask how much will they charge me for safety inspection & tire rotation he told me $68.00 for both. After they got it done, he charged me 68.00 for tire rotation + 26.18 for safety inspection. If I knew he will do that, I would of gone some place else where they only charge $25.00 for tire rotation. I'm not coming back here.

I came here for a basic safety check and was told 45 minutes. That would have been no problem if it was accurate. They take your registration so you can't go get in line elsewhere. I came back 80 minutes later after no phone call and they said "there was no estimate and it could be two hours". If this place can't manage a basic safety check service I wouldn't even trust them with an oil change. Go elsewhere. I went to McCully Union Service, as I had all times prior, and was done in 20 minutes.

Never again! Went there just for a battery check, gave me a reading which let me know my battery is getting near the end of its life and need another one soon then, actually wanted to charge me $45! For a basic battery check which is courtesy EVERYWHERE! Then proceeded to give a lecture about business, nothing is free, and personal family business history which was all gaslighting to make me feel like the one outta line- brah!? So unnecessary, coulda just let me know the cost first so I can politely decline and go Oreillys or Napa or Autozone! I love to support family-owned local business, but this one - NO CAN!Service: Electrical
