This review is concerning the SERVICE DEPARTMENT.I brought my vehicle (2016 Chevrolet Suburban) for repairs to the fuel tank vent. I was having issues filling the tank and brought the vehicle in for diagnosis and service.Tried to call to make an appointment several times, but no one answered the phone. This should have been a red flag. I was in the neighborhood and stopped in to make an appointment and they took my vehicle about a week later.Once they had my vehicle it went down hill pretty quickly. Within 24 hours I got a call about what repairs were needed. While they were looking at the vent, they noticed the charcoal canister needed to be replaced (sure whatever) and a few other items. I gave authorization for the repairs. In conjunction with the repairs to the fuel system, I had asked for a safety inspection.Communication from that point became extremely difficult. No one answers the phone at the service department. Fortunately, I have three vehicles and I could afford to miss the car. Two weeks after authorizing repairs, the work was complete. However, during the safety inspection they noticed a rear seal was leaking and needed to be fixed to pass the safety inspection. Two more weeks, again with no communication on timeline, progress, or estimates. All in all it was over a month before I got my vehicle back.Then there was the bill. $4,000. Even the woman who processed my payment was shocked at how big the repair cost was for what seemed like a limited amount of work (crushed fuel tank vent line replacement, charcoal canister replacement, rear axle shaft seal replacement, and safety inspection).I have lived on island for several years, and I understand that there are challenges in obtaining parts for repairs which can result in delays in vehicle repairs. What I can't forgive is how difficult it is to get someone from their service department on the phone, why the issues were identified in series vice parallel, and the significant markup on services and repairs provided.I recommend finding somewhere else to take your Chevrolet for service.

EDIT4/3/2024 currently 10k in repairs with no end in sightEDIT 3/17/22: currently $4K in repairsEDIT: I keep finding new poor-quality quick-fixes that have been done on this vehicle.EDIT: I reached out to both addresses provided in the owner response months ago and never heard back. The owner response comments are clearly for show.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I am extremely disappointed by my experience at Cutter Chevrolet. I reached out to my salesperson several times without any response. I'm sharing my story publicly in hopes that it helps someone else make an informed decision about whether they want to do business here.I purchased an Audi Q5 from Cutter that was a trade-in from another new-vehicle customer.The sales rep couldn't answer a lot of questions about what had been done to the vehicle and what was worked on. I was able to overhear them talking about work that had to be done to get the vehicle up to standards to be able to sell it but they never disclosed this to me. Neither the sales rep, nor the manager would to tell me what work had been done and if there were any outstanding recalls that had been completed or needed to be completed.During the negotiation phase they tried every slimy sales trick in the book. The "a lot of people are looking at the vehicle", the twenty trips back-and-forth to talk to the "manager" and "finance guy". They constantly beat me down in negotiation about price. The manager later let-on that they needed to recoup the cost of whatever air conditioning repairs had to be done to the vehicle. I offered 20% profit margin above the retail price but the manager wasn't having it.When we finally settled on a price, I made the mistake of asking what they would offer for financing. The sales manager refused to give me any sort of terms until I signed an authorization to run a hard inquiry on my credit. When I authorized the credit inquiry, they placed FOUR hard inquiries on my credit. After placing so many inquiries, they had the audacity to come back with a financing offer that was 11% APR ABOVE what I was able to get at a local credit union. Learn from my mistake, DO NOT FINANCE through this dealer, DO NOT allow them to run your credit.During the finance/paperwork stage, they constantly tried to slip in $100 and $250 unnecessary upcharges like VIN security services in the contract which increase the contract price as a high-revenue upcharge.After purchasing, the salesman made the usual "Let me know if there's anything I can do for you" reassurances. After a few weeks the battery stopped holding a charge and there was a slow consumption of oil happening. I had two battery-techs confirm that the battery was old and needed to be replaced. I drove back to Cutter to have them clear the OBS code. When I approached the service tech, they told me that he could not look at the vehicle or clear the codes or do anything at all. He directed me back to the sales department. I spoke to the salesman and he shrugged off my concerns. It is "AS-IS after all".At this point I take the vehicle to the Audi Dealership here in Honolulu. They handle the battery replacement and diagnose the oil issue. The vehicle had some sort of work done on it outside of authorized service because the valve cover is loose and leaking, but there is some foreign RTV sealant that someone tried to use on the valve cover. The rear main seal is also seeping. If Cutter did any sort of inspection on this vehicle at all when they did whatever AC work had to be done, they would have seen this problem at that time. I don't know what work was actually done at Cutter or from the previous owner because the sales team stonewalled me when I asked about it. Now the sales rep won't return my emails. That sure is an absolutely terrible way to treat a customer.This garbage should have gone to auction, not to a regular customer.

The most incompetent service department I've ever experienced. The lack of respect for customer time or money is astounding. I came by in November to get my AC fixed; It's 3 months later and my AC is still broken. At one point I was told to come back on a Saturday and when I arrived they turned me away stating "We only do oil changes on Saturdays". If you enjoy wasting time and paying to NOT have your issues fixed, I invite you to swing by.

"Buyer Beware" In my opinion, this dealership is doing deceptive acts against buyers. I bought a brand new truck. The so called "Cutter Price" is false advertisement. They also have a weird forced add-on insurance. They claim to have sprayed something on the auto, to protect it (Truck has scratches all over it) I shipped it to the big island, unseen. They claim that the spray is an install for $1995, charged me $2295. They have another add-on of VTR theft insurance $195. They call this an install as well. This stuff is ridiculous. Don't let these people scam you too. My advice, Get your auto somewhere else. There is no telling what else they are doing to place more cost on their customers. Also, either most of these positive reviews are fake or people are so dumb that they don't realize that they're being scammed out of thousands of dollars. IDK

Cutter Chevy in Honolulu was great to work with.Our family moved to the island last minute and needed to get a vehicle lined up.With a new baby in the family, Russell, Sean and Ben were swift at what they did and made sure we didn t waste a lot of time in the dealership. If we wind up in another Chevy, Cutter is where we d go.

This is our 2nd Chevy we have purchased from Cutter in a year! I can t express how thankful we are to have dealt with your team there. Especially Russell L. who is the Finance Manager. If I could give him 100k + stars for the service he has given us from start to ending I would! He communicated with us every step of the way. Very patient, understanding, helpful, he listened to our concerns and answered any questions we had thru text, email and on the phone. He is not your typical car salesman that tries to push you to purchase just any vehicle.This 2nd vehicle we just purchase was even easier than the 1st (the 1st purchase to us seem VERY EASY to say the least, we didn t even have to step foot in the dealership) He professionally handles everything from start to finish including getting the vehicle(s) shipped to Kauai.We re really glad we took the time to travel to Oahu to actually meet him in person this time around. He answered any concerns we had before we did the paperwork. We appreciate EVERYTHING Cutter & Russell has done for us and will be back to purchase another vehicle for sure!Mahalo! He was able to take time to really listen to what I was looking for. He was very patient and kind. I truly felt like he was working with me to find what I was looking for which was a huge benefit. Last night, we went home with a truck of our dream! The new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT RST Red Stripe Edition and it was the easiest quickest transaction we ve had experienced in buying cars on the Island!First, I was so impressed when the sales representative Kelv came out from the office to greet us while we are just about to park our car!His energy and smiles makes the whole process feels accommodating!He tried his best to give us all his knowledge about the truck.2nd, the managers who helped us was so quick to get us approved! Very knowledgeable and easy to deal with!Lastly! the office is clean and well maintained. Thank you so much Cutter Chevrolet.

Went and made my first big purchase on getting me a car and throughout the whole process, Ernor(erns) Sewell- Welle, was very patient and helpful in making sure that I was getting what I wanted for the right price. He broke everything down to where I could understand what it was that I was looking and not just slap a bunch of numbers and info in my face. Erns even went out of his way to take me to the Aiea lot to look at another car I was interested in. After I had wasted his time and decided to go with the first choice of car lol he was still very helpful and had the greatest customer service, did everything with a smile and kept a positive energy. Later was able to sit with the Finance Manager Russell Lamay, who finalized it all off with nothing but professionalism and true Aloha ensuring that I was all set to drive off with my new ride. Mahalo to the Men down at Cutter Chevy.

Took my car im cause the stability track light would come on intermittently. Juliana said her technician said he is only getting one code but when he checked the switch it was still working. Said they would replace it and maybe that would fix the light that would intermittently come on. $500 plus dollars later we picked up the car and that same day the stability track light, ABS light and engine light came on and never went off. She said to bring it back. We scheduled an appointment and drove back from the windward side got there and the technician called in sick. So we bought the car back home. We were told that sometimes when they clear a code another code can appear. We took it back today and now they want to charge me 2400 plus and a 3% charge to pay with my CC. Plus they will probably charge us anoher diagnoaic fee. They sent a quote but no break down of what is being fixed.

My husband and I were looking for a new car, and made an appointment we were helped by Tyler Hall and drove away with the 2020 Chevy traverse!!! From the beginning he was very helpful and knowledgeable what ever we asked he got the answers for!!! A little part from my drivers side door was missing and a week later the part came in and Tyler gave us a call and installed it!!! Thanks again Tyler we love our car!!!!!

My salesman was Tyler, he did an outstanding job. He let me look around without any pressure. If I had a question or wanted to look at another vehicle he helped out. Then he helped me get a great deal and my payments where I wanted them. I will definitely get another vehicle here.

Our salesman was ERNZ from Palolo. I had my eye on a Chevy traverse and in the end was able to get a reasonable deal for it. Thanks ERNZ and the team for being so patient with me and my indecisiveness This will be my first NEW vehicle purchase and I am so glad I went to Cutter Chevy they were professional, not too pushy, and willing to go above and beyond to make your car buying experience great!

My truck buying experience with Cutter Chevrolet was much easier than expected. From previous experience, I know that buying a car can be a pain. As a small business owner, I didn t want to spend all day haggling with a salesman; I don t like the back and forth and don t have time for that. I was direct about what I wanted from the start. Erns listened, he was patient and easy-going which was a nice change from previous car buying experiences. He helped me pick out the perfect truck quickly. Thankfully, it was not an all-day affair and the deal was made in about two hours. I love my Chevy Silverado and am grateful for the good customer service experience provided by Earns and the crew at Cutter Chevrolet.

Service department needs to improve on communication - with customers and each other. I rescheduled my first appointment because I was not informed it would take all day & my car would need to be dropped off. Service manager did not communicate that it would take longer and eventually not be complete same day as we were told. After we drove into town at 4pm and had asked how long more, he advised possibly another hour. No problem. But shortly after, advised it wouldn't be done till next day around noon. We understand unforeseen issues may arise. However, keeping in good communication and being honest about the expectations goes a longer way and creates customer loyalty.

We were trying to buy a new truck using the Costco Auto Program. It's supposed to be pretty black and white... you speak to a "Costco trained" salesman, they give you the Costco Members-Only Price Sheet and you decide if you want to buy or not. However, that's not at all what we got. Instead we got what seemed like a typical "salesy" experience. We finally just left after essentially just being left alone. Someone called the next day and asked about our experience, but that's the last we've heard from anyone. We went to Windward Nissan and bought a brand new Titan through the Costco Auto Program and what a night and day difference in customer service.

This was one of the worsts car buying experiences I ve had in 30 years. 10k over MSRP. And crazy Dealership add ons I do feel bad for the young man that was helping me. He is fighting a losing battle when negotiating with anyone who has any sense about Vehicles. They State military Discount of a whole 500 bucks they had a car listed at 51k (47k MSRP) online you get there and it s priced at 57k please if you are a young first time buyer Try JN Chevy if looking for a better deal. Don t get ripped off buy scumbag dealerships.
