My car and I are very grateful to have such an excellent, fast and affordable mechanic in Hilo downtown. Nathan is experienced, friendly and provides honest, expert advice. Nate is the most nicest and amazing mechanic I ve been to. He is very affordable! This is the only place I take my car to and he always puts it in top shape. If you re gonna take your car somewhere definitely take it here! Prior to getting my car repaired by Speed-O someone at another repair shop gave me a quote of over $3,000 and so I was going to sell my car instead of fixing it. This was sad for me since my car has sentimental value.So, I took it to Nathan at Speed-O for a second opinion. He fixed it for about 15% of the original quote! With this lower cost to repair, it now makes sense that I keep my car and this makes me very happy.I later heard that a potential customer went by Speed-o asking for a quote and that this person tried to negotiate the price and kept questioning the necessity of the fix. I feel for this person. I understand very well that - as a person who does not repair cars - it is hard to trust repair shops - especially when you have garages - like the first one I went to that quoted me $3,000 - about $2,500 more than Speed-O s final amount. This story prompted me to write this review.Nathan has now done 3 repairs on one of my vehicles plus oil changes on both of my vehicles. I have found that he is fairly priced and highly competent.I hope that by sharing this it will help people new to the area who may not be aware of the reputation he has rightfully earned in Hilo.If your car needs something fixed - this is the place to take it. They are expert mechanics, professionals and fairly priced. A place you can trust.

I was conducting a shop case study for my class project and after being denied to ask questions at multiple shops, the lady who answered the phone here was really nice and helpful, she helped me answer all my questions, and didn t make me feel like I was just bothering her and wasting her time. Really appreciate the Speed-O's team for fitting me in to deal with an expired safety check. I was able to get my car and registration handled super fast because they were super easy to work with. Big mahalo for making the process easy.

They installed parts without my concent when I only asked for them to change the computer that I already bought.Then I ended up with a $900 bill and the car wasn't running. I'm no dummy I was a machanic for a long time on both airplanes and cars. They were nice to me but very rude to my wife. I would not use them again.

They told me the price for a oil change is 50-60 dollar's,but when i picked it up n paid my bill it was $112.i called back to check about the bill but they have not responded
