I had an incredible experience at East Hawaii Auto Center with a truck I purchased as is from a car dealer. The car was evaluated and the evaluation came out as no surprise. 8 problems with the truck that I expected. Perfect calls from the staff. I was impressed with the knowledge, professionalism and the friendliness of the staff. Repair costs were no surprise either.

Best Auto shop I've been to. Extremely transparent about pricing and quickly got me in for inspection. Very good communication skills and friendly staff. They fixed everything on my Mustang that I needed so far to get everything in good shape! These are some of the things they fixed/ or are still repairing:Paracidic battery drainAir-conditioningCooling Fan ResistorThermostat HousingBelt Tensioner PulleyTie RodsStabilizer Bar Link Kit (Front, Both Sides)Stabilizer Bar Link Kit (Rear, Both Sides)Update: I will no longer go to this place.They charged me for a Battery $300 when I told them I had the battery tested at Autozone it was fine. They swore this would fix the problem they lied to me! Not only that they put a Battery in my car with bad cells when I had it tested. They stole my good battery! This has been mentally and emotionally draining. I gave them every chance to fix the issue because there was Paracidic drain. They were incompetent wasted time and money! They decided they couldn't fix the issue and left me to do it myself. Terrible mechanics and no accountability. Everything was fine when I was giving them thousands of my hard earned money. When it comes time for them to fix a problem they created they couldn't be bothered.

East Hawaii Auto has some of the best mechanics around. They are extremely knowledgeable and versed in their craft and work on all types of vehicles from minor issues to major problems. They are reliable, honest, and have absolutely stellar customer service. I have never had a bad experience when taking my vehicle there. I highly recommend this auto shop for all of your automotive needs.

HANDS DOWN the BEST experience ive EVER had at any auto shop!! A million thank you's to Kalani, he went out of his way, over and above what anybody would consider standard service from the moment he answered the phone until the minute he lowered the floor jack to set our car back down. I'm officially onboarded as their newest return customer! He worked with me on what i could afford, took my car in right away, did the work himself, is funny, welcoming, and just easy to get along with. He let me know the cost beforehand and was genuinely upfront about everything, even calling around to other shops to get me a better deal if he could and put it on speakerphone so i could listen.. i decided that this guy definitely earned my trust and my business. i cant say enough wonderful things about Kalani and his business, so if you want complete honesty, transparency in pricing, good work, fast service, welcoming demeanor, and some hilarious signs to read in his office- do yourself a favor and call him first!Service: Tires

Told me that they could do the work on my transmission only after they kept the car overnight, that they don't do transmission work.What??�

I took my wife s Nissan in for a repair I couldn t figure out, and couldn t be happier with my experience. Professional and friendly staff, amazing communication, and quality work. Kalani diagnosed the problem, called and gave me a fair and upfront quote, was honest about probable delays on parts, and made sure we knew what was happening every step of the way. I can t remember a better auto repair experience in my life. Big Mahalo s to the crew at East Hawaii Auto! Awesome quick services!!! Needed to do my safety and they were the only Shop who would see me without an appointment. It was important that I get it done on that day as my schedule is always booked. They also put my license plate back on which was really helpful. Thank you for your services I appreciate it.

Wonderful experience overall. We were recommended to EHAC by two relatives and after an unexpected car stall, we had our vehicle towed to Kemo. The tow truck driver confirmed the place is top-notch and that his car buddies get their work done there, too. Keno assured us the car would be fixed right away despite the shop being quite busy. I was hesitant about repair needs and price, knowing little about cars, so they took the time to describe the needed work and how to prepare for future care. It was very appreciated and sealed the deal of EHAC being our go-to place. Very trustworthy, professional maintenance along with a guarantee for future work. We'll be back! Thanks much.

1/3/2019 SERVICE (5 stars): Brought my car in for routine oil change and tire rotation. Garrett was very thorough. He even caught that one of my tires was mounted incorrectly. Shawna in the office was professional and courteous.6/18/19 SERVICE (2 stars): Checked the lug nuts on the day after a tire rotation, and the majority of them were very loose (two of them were so loose, they were sticking out and would have come off with a few turns to loosen with my hand). Not sure who worked on my car this time. I took away a few stars because of this safety issue. It's a good thing I checked them before driving across the island for the weekend. Kemo was at the reception desk. He was professional and up-front.

I've read some of the reviews on this place....UNBELIEVABLE....especially if you've never been to the shop!!I needed to have my fuel pump replaced and a couple more things...could have gone anywhere else....It sounds soooo cliche' when I say "I was referred by a friend of a friend". Kemo was FRIENDLY AND EASY GOING!! So was his receptionist Shawna (hope spelling is correct)!! They understood that my Explorer was my baby.. and they took EXCELLENT care of my vehicle! Shawna provided great customer service---keeping me updated on everything. Sure.... everyone wants a good deal... but I'd rather pay for a job well done AND excellent customer service!!Thanks East Hawaii Auto!!

I've been going to east side auto for almost 4 years now, and they have always taken the best care of my vehicles. I've been to three other mechanics and these guys are by far my go to for any problems with my cars. They have seen my Honda civic, Toyota tundra and Nissan Exterra, and have always given me a fair price with excellent service.I recently looked on google to see how early east auto is open to get my vehicle and was disturbed by the guy below who obviously had it out for them; so bad even that they wrote three reviews under different accounts, you can tell by the writing style. Others and myself look at reviews to get an insight of a business. Its very sad to see someone leave false reviews. As a business owner of a spa here in town, it can be frustrating to be trolled by those who hide behind a computer. I choose to write this review in order to have others see the truth, that East side auto is a great and honest place to take your car. Go and meet them yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Quality work man ship. My mechanic knew what to do. He knew how to fix my Accord AC and Engine light.. AC is blowing cold now. Fair price. Customer waiting area is so-so. But workers are good.

I ve had general oil changes & safety checks before. Our AC in our car broke. I thought it would take a few days but it was done & repaired the next day!Very friendly place & they do an excellent job!Thank you! I can breathe again!

Got my brake pads and rotors changed today.Pros - Fast service, good communication, didn t have to wait long for my apt.Cons - more expensive than other places.

Don't bother paying attention to the FAKE negative reviews about East Hawaii Auto. Kemo is a straight shooter and not out to scam anyone. I have had 1000s in work done on 4 trucks. Always timely and professional. I've never worked with another shop where I am able to speak directly with the head mechanic anytime I call. If you are in Hilo w car troubles its worth to pay a little extra for Kemo's Legitimate work then dealing with the few cheaper run around mechanics. You get what you pay for. BLAKE w the BEARD

Best place to have your car worked on. Fair prices, outstanding and honest service. I only take my cars here. Locally owned business. From big jobs to small, do yourself a favor and get your car serviced here.

Went in for a wheel alignment after putting on Icon UCA on my tacoma. Icon recommends putting the caster setting to max. Choke guys on many tacoma forums can get at least 4 degree of caster from these Icon UCA but for some reason this shop said no can and gave me the run around and also damaged my dust caps that cover the ball joints... Very untrustworthy and very shady these guys. DO NOT take your truck or car here these guys no care. I hope this post saves someone from taking their car here.Service: Wheel alignment

Went to this place for a oil change . This kemo guy tried to convince me that I needed all kinds of services before they did the oil change . I told them that I only wanted an oil change . As soon as I said that kemos attitude changed and he made me feel very uncomfortable . least to say I didnt want this guy touching my car .If i could give a zero star review these guys would deserve it .

These guys are the best around. I don t take my vehicles anywhere else! Their work has been on point every time and unlike a few other places I went to before I found them, I feel I m being treated fairly and with patience and that goes a long way with me! You guys are ze best Mahalo

Very shady shop. Rude lady at the front desk and a mechanic that seemed more interested with how much he could get away with telling me I needed to repair rather than diagnosing my car. Went in to get my trans serviced and apparently I needed thousands of $$$ worth of repairs. Went to transmission technology (great shop, very upfront and honest) and got it diognosed/serviced for just under $400.Stay far away from these filthy crooks!!

East Hawaii Auto got me right in the same day that I called them. Super nice and extremely helpful. Got me squared away within the day and back on the road. Don't believe the BS reviews here, these guys are on the level. Thanks again!

Very honest and great customer service... I'm very skeptical when it comes to mechanics I don't know, but they were straight forward with the diagnostic on my truck... Mahalo East Hawaii Auto Center

A local Hilo shop installed my Icon suspension and had East Hawaii Auto (EHA) do the wheel-alignment. I was impressed with how SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) "tracked," handled, with proper-compensation to 3" inch lift (within-vehicle-specifications). Thus, for my classic Porsche, I drove-(trailered)-from-the-other-side-of the-island (1.4 hours): prompt, professional, cost-effective pricing. Finding a shop / owner who takes-pride-in-doing-the-job-right (i.e. the first-time) is invaluable: I offered to pay-more (due-to-more-shop-time to-do-it-right) as it appeared the previous-owner (Porsche) did not do a four-wheel-alignment. Kemo said no and honored the original-quote. Thank you very much EHA for taking-care-of-my-needs.

Owner looks like he smokes ice . And his fat hawaiian mechanic smelled like alcohol . Not going back to this place .As for the "owner" replying . What else would the owner say about his own business , why dont you do a drug screening before hiring your mechanics ? Because i bet you dont . And while your at it go take one yourself !!!!
