I had a great experience at big island motors. Ryan helped get the process started. Had me start at a basic model Subaru then move up to get a good idea of all the different features. Tom took me test driving and educated me about the different safety features and other mechanical aspects of the car that make a difference in knowing how it operates and exactly what you re purchasing. He handled everything from there on. Helping me get the right deal and the right model etc. I left very pleased with my purchase and felt like I got a good deal at the price I was looking for in financing a car in my budget.

Ara, the gal at the Service Desk, is super helpful and kind. Her customer service was wonderful. My technician, was also very thorough and kind. I had a great experience getting my control arm replaced here.

The salesperson Jay was great, he met me half way on my trade in, and hooked us up with a brand new 2024 crosstrek. Grateful that my wife and I now have matching subarus. Subarus are very fairly priced and a good quality vehicle. Love my Subaru.

That changed last week when we walked into Big Island Motors looking for a car for the island. Working with Paul was easily the best car-buying experience we ve ever had, and we ve had a few. Marvin and Jay were the perfect team in finding a new vehicle for my family. They were extremely helpful with all of our questions and needs. They actually went above and beyond to make sure we had our vehicle. Eli, one of the managers, was very friendly and helpful in the final purchasing process as well. The salesperson Jay is exceptionally helpful. The dealership could use more room. Very hard to park, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.When I made clear that I did not want to go through the dealer negotiation games, they dealt with me in a straight forward way. I appreciated that.The 2 year access to Level 3 charger is a great reason to buy here. But they do need to get the access cards to the customer. That apparently is a Hyundai issue.Overall I recommend buying here. They have decent inventory for an Island dealership, and they treat customers with respect.

The staff is very pleasant very knowledgeable. I had brought my car in about 1:15p. They took my car in at 1:30. My appointment was at two so I believe my car was done around 2:45. I m Really impress how fast it was completed. Staff members have been very helpful. My questions got answered and I appreciate that. I will continue to bring my vehicle there when it needs to be serviced. I give them a five star. Thank you Junedale Tasaka.

Sales Rep was very professional and knowledgeable. I first went in with my daughter who lives on the mainland and despite knowing that she would be purchasing there, Tom spent the time to show her all the potential autos that she might like. Took her on a good test drive and explained all the features and benefits as if she would be buying from him. I had been looking at a different make but similar model to the Forrester. I changed my mind and bought from him. I would highly recommend Tom and Big Island Motors

Service quality is great, however they do not have any type of shuttle so you have to sit and wait or take a walk on the beach. The fact that the service takes 3 hours with an appointment for standard oil change is ridiculous. Plus, they would not allow us to schedule our next appointment. I just don t have time to lose a half day waiting on service.

Couldn t be more thankful than I already am for Big island Motors. I was hesitant at first that I d even get the car I was looking at, long story short this car had a very sentimental core memory with the fam and the goal was to bring it back home. Beyond thankful for these guys, they really know what they re doing. They re really nice, very professional and committed they re all in making me feel secured that I would get it and sure enough I got my car. Big Island Motors in Kona has so many new cars in stock, I was able to go through them choose exactly what I wanted - unlike some other dealers which had only few for each model. DO NOT USE BIG ISLAND MOTORS KONA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. This review will be lengthy but inform yourself of my experience to save yourself a lot of money and most importantly your time. I rarely make public reviews, and I even selected private when I returned Subaru's after service review I received. When I submitted the review, the screen said Subaru will make things right. It has been just over a month now, and I have not received any contact about making things right. This public review is the result. Full disclosure, I purchased my car vehicle from Big Island Motors Kona and have had other services completed there with no issues.I stopped in at Big Island Motors Kona Service Department and made my appointment. The lady at the service counter who sits on your left is great. She is super knowledgeable, helpful and was able to squeeze me in for an appointment much sooner than usual. This was outstanding service. I told her of the specific problem and she annotated it in the notes for the mechanic. I also asked what if they mechanic cannot find the problem, and she said her mechanics are very good and most times they can determine what is going on. My 2021 Subaru Crosstrek's issue was the engine not starting at times or slow to turn over and start other times. When I made the appointment, I also told her my specific make and model had a Safety Recall Notice out for a defective part.Appointment day came and I dropped my car off. I gave my key to the woman in the service department on your right as you walk in. If you ignore anything I say in this review and still decide to use this Subaru service center, absolutely do not do any part of your service transaction with the woman on the right as you walk in. Wait until the woman on the left is there. You have been warned. I handed the woman on the right my key and we reviewed the problem I was having with my vehicle.A few hours lady I got a call my service was complete and my vehicle was ready to pick up. I went in to get my key and the woman on the right said the mechanics didn't find anything wrong but cleared a few codes that may have been interfering with the radio. I told her this was my exact concern when I made the appointment- the mechanic not finding anything wrong. She then proceeded to explain to me that the mechanics scan the vehicle's computer and use a tree diagram to diagnose problems. I asked her if they go beyond using their computer scanner and checked things like the electrical system, fuel filter and spark plugs that could be causing this specific issue. There indeed is a problem, my vehicle either won't start or has trouble starting. She kept referring back to the mechanics using the tree diagram, and this circle just continued on a few more times. She even told me if the mechanic doesn't experience the issue, he/she cannot fix it. I asked if the mechanic can go off of what I am saying the problem is? An intermittent problem is just that, intermittent. I also asked her what happens if I drive down to the stop sign and my engine issue happens again, do I need to make another appointment and be charged to find nothing again? She actually said, yes, you will need to make another appointment. At this point I knew I was not going to get my vehicle repaired and asked if I could pay the charge and depart. I was charged $188.42 to not have my vehicle fixed. Guess what? My engine had a starting issue at the first stop sign when I left the dealership. My vehicle still has the same issue to this day.Fast forward...guess what I just received in the mail? A Subaru Safety Recall. Guess what the Description of the Defect and Safety Risk notes...wait for it.... inability to start the engine. I remind you I notified the woman I made the appointment with there was a recall out for my vehicle. I was notified by the US Department of Transportation NHTA of this notice. The story goes on but I am limited in text here. I expect the employees to deny most of this because they failed to annotate it in their service notes.

After my horrible experience a couple of days ago, I thought I would provide some recommendations. I had an appointment at 11:00 for a simple oil change and tire rotation. Thought I would leave car, walk and grab a bite to eat and then pick up my car and leave. First of all, I have to drive an hour to and from where I live to get to the dealership. I waited for over 5 hours to finally get my car at nearly 4:00 for a $176 oil change. They didn't even go over the multi-point inspection with me. I have learned my lesson. I will never take my car to this dealership again unless there is something seriously wrong with the particular model. I will get my oil changes elsewhere. Second, if I ever do need to take it in, I will drop it off the day before and only pick it up after they call and tell me it is ready. Disappointed customer to say the least.

This place has no.Love for their customers. Complete disregard.On servicing my vehicle when it's the only. Subaru dealership on the island besides Hilo side. And even over there they won't service it as well.because of an aftermarket exhaust I put in itI bought the car from them and the engine blew at 30k. So iI paid for a brand new engine had them install it cost over 12k and then the brain (ecu) went bad so had to buy a new one and keys and everything they told me it would fix the problem and didn't. I was still was stuck with the bill. Had to pay to get my car back over $2500 .The aftermarket exhaust is a stocks. exhaust and and now since they didn't put it in, they wont-work on my car to program the ecu to the new abs modulator because now the abs modulator is defective that came in my car and can only be reset by the dealership.So they wanted me to pay full price for the part. And pay them to put it in so I said I couldn't afford Paying full price for the part. I had to buy one used online. That is $50 instead of $1600 through them. Then the service fee to put it in was another $700 and to reset the ECU would be who knows how much more for tbut, so I said screw this. I had somebody else Do it because everything else I've done to the car has broken. so they wouldn't Program the abs modulator two My car. Because they didn't put it in and I didn't buy it through them.But there are the only ones that can reprogram the e c u to the modulator so now i'm stuck with a car that doesn't work and i've spent over fifty thousand dollars with these people.They told If the parts aren't installed by them they don't work on the car Some stuck with a large paper weight And when I mean paper, it's literally a paper weight.Considering all the money I've spent for nothing to be left with a c*****That was a lemon from the gego. I would never recommend these people to any. Please don't buy car from here and don't have them service your vehicle. They don't know what they're doing and their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced before. Thank you for reading Aloha.

Bought a car from them about a year ago and just finally sold it to get it off my hands. When i bought the car i definitely should have trusted my gut to not continue with the purchase. The first red flag was when nobody came to greet or check on me for about an hour, despite seeing the salesmen just hanging out. When I finally got to test drive a car, it went smoothly and found the one I wanted, but when I was just about done filling out the paper work I was informed that the car I wanted was already sold to someone... so clearly there was no communication. There was another model available that had a lot of damages hidden in the "dirt" of the car that i didn't notice at the time. When it came time to sign i felt pressured to sign for the hyundai. I didn't leave until about 6:30 that night despite getting there at 11am that same day. There was just a lack of communication, customer service, and rush to get me to sign so that they could go home. To try to make up for the lack of service, the man who sold me the car offered a complimentary interior cleaning the next day. I was told that I would drop my car off at 8am and be done by 11am so I could go to work. When I did so, I didn't get my car back until 5:30pm and had to wait at my workplace until i could pick it up. It wasn't until the next day that I noticed what a horrible, rushed job they did. I brought it up to the dealership, but I got a very bland response that translated into a "what do you want us to do about it" and "you can pay for a better cleaning next time" . Idk, it was not the best experience and it definitely haunts me. I've seen what good customer service is from them through my uncle, but the side I saw was definitely not that. Their consistency in service is not good and till this day I feel ripped off. All i can say is goodluck and hopefully you don't get an experience like i did.

Having made an appointment through Hyundai USA for a warranty issue I arrived to find that I was not actually "booked" in the Big Island Motors schedule. Aura (service manager) went above and beyond in fitting me into their full schedule and the professionalism and communication was well worth the extra wait before the issue was professionally resolved by the service department. I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Kona location again from the east side of the island for future service needs. Mahalo Aura and BIM!
