Did not have a good experience. I pulled in the parking lot. There was a old man. Taking a picture of one of the cars In front of store. As I was getting out of car. 2 of the employees came out started yelling at this old man for taking pictures of the car. I later found out the old man name was Robert Boyd & he is a 76 old. Retired Coast Guard pilot.As I was talking with Robert another short mail came out and started verbalizing both of us. So I decided to take my business somewhere else this guy is definitely didn't have no respect for anybody I DO NOT recommend AKM PERFORMANCE.

I arrived in Hilo after shipping my 1973 C10 from California only to be gutted that Pasha of Hawaii had mistreated my truck. They had left the ignition on and ruined ignition, battery, and performance of my truck. I was given AKM Performance as a reliable place to get it repaired. Because I was relocating to Ohua, I had to place it in storage and leave it.After making a stop at AKM Performance I was relieved to leave it in their hands. They went out of their way to go and pick it up from storage, and fix it top notch. I had never been to this shop, but was treated as if I had been a customer for years. They only needed the keys, they would take care of the rest.My truck couldn t of been in better hands.I just picked it up and it runs like a champ, on the ship to Ohua.Talk about red carpet service, if my truck ever needs anything else it s back on the ship to AKM Performance. Great honest and trustworthy service!! Went in to diagnose a pinging sound I ve had with my Tahoe and they were able to diagnose and fix it that day. Always called to let me know with the quotes and price was right they got the job done. Chelsea was great in setting me up and communicating with me every step. This guys are awesome! Had an electrical problem on my truck that a few places couldn t figure out, yes, even the Toyota dealer and other prestigious shops, it just took a couple hours to the guys at AKM to figure out the problem, highly recommended, fast and reasonable prices. AKM performance went above and beyond with their customer service. I was stuck without a vehicle and the dealership was booked out for over a month. AKM helped me fix the problem within 2 business days, and was texting me to communicate despite my busy schedule. When there was a misunderstanding about the cost, they went above and beyond to be fair and generous.

These guys are fantastic. They are affordable and super easy to work with. It is a family owned business. They are easy to talk to if you have any issues and I would recommend them to anyone with car issues in the Hilo area.

The workers were professional, kind, and helpful. I called before coming in for safety inspection and they were available for me as they said they would be. There was an issue w my registration due to dealer delays in my paperwork (months-long delay!) and the workers explained to me patiently how it's a common issue and what to do to try to resolve it. Kent from around the corner auto shop recommended AKM, and I think they are both good businesses I will recommend to others with my experience so far!

Excellent customer service, very professional. Best Quality work for good prices. Just had the breaks on my jeep done there. I feel like I was giving a secret that only professional businesses knew about. Recommended by a local business owner who uses this mechanic for his professional vehicle's to be serviced/repaired. I appreciate bring told about this great place that people know of . I would has never known to take my jeep there otherwise. it's located in a industrial looking. Definitely a hidden Gem.

Shout out to AKM Performance for their work on my car. Friendly, professional service. Reasonable prices. Great family owned business. I had major repairs on my car and they not only fixed what I needed to get done, but they also did a full evaluation to make sure everything was running properly and made note of anything that might need attention. They are conveniently located right behind Target so you can go do some shopping while they do your oil change too! They were super quick and communicated at every point to make sure I knew what was going on with my car. I ll be going back to AKM Performance for any of my car needs.

I had them replace my front end wheel bearings, inner and outer-both sides. I got less than 4 miles away after I left their shop and my left side wheel locked up. (It was scary as I was on the highway) AKM told me to get my car towed back to them but as I didn't trust them and had misgivings about them already, plus the awful customer service, I ended up towing my vehicle to another shop and they fixed my car correctly - had to totally replace my wheel bearings again as AKM didn't do the job right- left out the brace or spacer on left side. I also was told and written on my receipt by AKM before I left was that I needed to get spindle bearings and ball joint work done on left side front end. Not true as new mechanic looked at that and said were fine. I do not recommend AKM to anyone. The prices are cheaper then others, but then you pay a far larger price in the long run if you go to them. BEWARE !!!

I dont know where i would be with out this company but i know one thing for sure without them my car may never have been repaired. No one wanted to work on my car. They had all kinds of issues mostly the timimg belt .Everyone else wanted more money to do less. When i got my car back they rebuilt my engine and replaced my timing belt for under $1100 in labour. I had an issue with an oil leak from an o ring, they fixed it the next day for free. Trust worthy . Affordable. Helpful.

The owner of AKM Performance, Mr. Alika ( I believe this is spelled correct) is one of the most generous men I have met, constant aloha and is by far one of the most intelligent younger mechanics I have ever met. He really is a magician with a torque wrench. I recommend AKM to anyone, support local business and get the best results!!!

They are the best, I think they #1 when it comes to your cars...affordable,they dont rip u off in any way & most of all they'll find the problem quick and get the job done..I'd reccomend AKM PERFORMANCE ANY DAY ANY TIME ANY WEA.........AU'RYTE
