Mr. Craig and everyone here was so nice and easy to work with. I had lots of questions and they all took the time to answer them. They communicated clearly and set my expectations about cost and timeline appropriately. My truck had been sitting at the dealership for over a month waiting to be looked at. When the dealership finally got to my truck they quoted me a price about a third higher than American Transmission. I had the truck towed to American and not only did they look at it the next day, they had it repaired within a week. They had me come back two weeks later to double check the repair and explained the proper maintenance for maintaining my new transmission which I had no idea about. I m so glad my friend recommended this place to me. Would go here again in a minute.

I came to American Transmissions with some kind of rattle that I was sure was the transmission. They did a diagnostic and took a look, only to find that the transmission was fine, and the rattle was likely the catalytic converter. They recommended another shop, which turned out to be another 5 star rating! Thanks!

This review is long overdue. Craig replaced my transmission in my Sonata back in 2019 . He did an amazing job still going strong . His price was over a thousand dollars less then what the dealership wanted to charge me. Wonderful customer service and performed the service in a timely manner. Thank you so much you are a life saver.

I was referred when my transmission went out. Craig & his team have been top notch. They were very transparent with what needed to be done & the cost. I received my van back with instructions to return in 10 days so they could do a recheck. They let me know exactly what needed to be done & let me know the cost. I didn't feel like I had been taken. I'm a woman & don't know much about transmissions. Unfortunately before the 10 days were up, I was on I20 merging to 75-85 & my transmission went. I got to the side of the road. I immediately called Craig. His 1st concern was for my safety. Then he gave me the number of tow service. My friend picked my pup & myself up & took us home. I received a call & pictures when the tow company delivered my van back to American transmission. I received a call the next day from Craig letting me know that a line came loose. My van was fixed in the next couple of days. The tow & repairs were paid by American transmission. Even though it happened I do know things happen. They jumped on the repair & took complete responsibility. The entire staff was extremely polite & professional. I highly recommend them! I even took cards to my regular mechanic who doesn't do transmissions. I was very pleased with the service.

I can not speak highly enough of this place. I live in the heart of Atlanta so it was a bit of a hike but we ll worth it. My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee was having some transmission issues, and these folks diagnosed and rebuilt it, keeping me updated along the way. I started to have issues due to a faulty part and they were more than helpful in getting it fixed quickly and without any cost to me. A transmission rebuild is not a fun diagnosis to come across but I would trust Craig and his team more than anyone else in Atlanta to do so!

I am absolutely disappointed in the standard of care at this establishment. No urgency. I am a HUGE review person and after having read these amazing reviews I decided to take my business here.** After having searched high and low for a shop to fix the transmission on my recently acquired Jeep, I decided to come here. I came here happily and excitedly because I believed Craig when he said I was in good hands. I was originally given an estimate of $2200 which I had no problem with. I immediately paid $1000 down towards the balance. I was given an initial time frame of about 3 weeks. A few days later, Craig called to inform me the new balance was looking closer to $3600 after taxes. I had no problem with that. I just wanted my Jeep fixed. Finally after they had the Jeep over five weeks they called to inform me there was yet another problem but that they would cover the cost of it. (That's kinda the least you can do five weeks later, considering you didn't find the issue to begin with). Now, today, over SIX WEEKS LATER, my Jeep is still not ready to be picked up. I regret ever coming here and will NEVER recommend this establishment. So sorry.Luisa Ramos94 Jeep WranglerService: Transmission

Craig was very informative with what was going on with my transmission issues.For my specific case, he recommended I go to the dealership due to probable warranty (hello Ford Focus owners) to ensure I get the best deal for myself. These guys really seem to look after the customer first, which is refreshing. I was referred to them, and I can see why. The diagnostic process was entirely free and they gave me a copy of what they found. There was no inherent pressure or up-selling involved at all.

Craig s entire crew at American Transmissions is exceptional.Their communication throughout the process, explanation of the issues, and detailed descriptions of the work involved made me feel like a seasoned member of the team.The quality of their service is excellent and backed by a warranty.American Transmissions treated my old Toyota Taco like an unblemished Bugatti, regardless of the subtle differences between the two.I'd like to say I'll be back soon, but their great work will keep me away for at least 175,000 miles.

Craig and his team rebuilt my Jeep's transmission last year. This year, they were able to diagnose and repair an unrelated problem that had another mechanic stumped. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!! My 2017 Explored engine light and wrench came on. My favorite mechanic B&E of Tucker,referred me to American Transmission. I was a'high achiever' with multiple codes coming on. The solenoid pack shorted out. Craig with American Transmission did not give up. He replaced the Solenoid and it blew again!! Electrical problem. These guys were so fantastic, they kept looking and found the problem in power-train control module. The price was more than fair (I think they worked harder than they charge) and my car runs great. I would recommend this shop to any and everyone and if I ever need to go back with my other truck or my son's car, I will not hesitate. I was so worried my 2017 Explorer was done for when they said electrical. But it runs like New!!!! Thanks guys and Happy New Year.

Relocated to Clarkston and had to find a new mechanic. Craig and his team lived up to the reviews. Locally owned, smart, courteous folks who stand behind their work. Their pricing was right in line what what I expected to pay for the automatic transmission rebuild in my Cummins Dodge Ram. Everyone in the shop was friendly. They explained a lot about what had to be done to rebuild my transmission. It seems like they did a great job. I now have a couple of thousand miles on the rebuild. Their work comes with a warranty, and hey honor that warranty without hesitation. I had an issue after the fact (with the installation, not the rebuild) while out of state for work, and the way they handled my problem was so much better than I could have expected. My truck was on a roll back headed to a local transmission shop within an hour of contacting them. They paid for that type and the work done at the local shop.

I was having trouble with my car two weeks ago. Thinking it was the transmission, I was recommended by a friend to take it to American Transmission. The gentlemen there were all extremely helpful and kind. The one who took my car for a test drive, promptly told me it was not my transmission, but rather my cam sensor. With quick instructions on how to fix it or who to take it to if I preferred not to take on the endeavor myself, he sent me on my way: free of charge. I replaced the cam sensor. Two weeks and a trip to New Orleans later, My car is still running great. I cannot recommend American Transmission enough for any of you auto needs.

Professional service, friendly, and always on point. We've take a few older vehicles here for new transmissions and we've never had an issue. We HIGHLY recommend you do the same! No haggling, no hidden fees, just good people doing good work.

I work at an auto parts warehouse. American is our customer and when it was time to replace the transmission in our transfer van we got them to do it. This van drives 200+ miles a day and it has been more than a year with no issues. This is a good shop and a good customer that pays their bill on time.Update 12-6-18 still driving five days a week with no problems.

I took my vehicle here to get a diagnostic on my transmission and to get my cv axels checked because I heard a clicking noise everytime I would turn right or left. Craig told me I needed 4 new tires to take away the clicking noise and that I have an engine performance problem but didn't specify what exactly that was. The whole thing didn't sound right to me. I took my vehicle to another mechanic the same day I picked my vehicle up from American Transmission and come to find out there was nothing wrong with my tires it was the differential carrier assembly. They completely diagnosed my vehicle wrong and almost had me spend unnecessary money on tires I don't even need. I honestly don't even think they did a diagnostic on my vehicle or checked it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They will have you spend money on stuff you don't need. Glad I took my vehicle elsewhere. Smh seriously bad business.

The man at the front desk is very honest and helpful. I took my girlfriend's car to American transmissions so the can put on the New carrier bearing on. I I thought that was my only problem until he said the I need more U-Joinrs. They fix the car and save me a lot of my time. Now the car has no worries .

I had some issues with the reverse on my F150 2004. After taking it to My Favorite Automotive mechanic(Regular shop were I take my card) on Dekalb Ave to see what was wrong with it, I was refered to American Transmissions since they do not repair transmissions. The Folks at American Transmission were very precise on the dignosys. They were knowledgeable, cordial and delivered what they promised. The repair was even done sooner than what they promised. Ask for Craig.

Excellent work, very friendly and professional. Very honest and fair. I am very happy with the job they did for me.They will do all things possible to make sure you are 100 percent satisfied and happy with their work. All work is guaranteed. And they do follow up after work completed.

Craig and the ownership are great. I have a 1976 Ford 350 camper addition they help me keep running. I had the transmissions rebuilt and service I received could not have been better.

We are house-hunting for a week from 600 miles away. Car starts making weird gear-sounding noise. Ruled out a couple little things. Took it to American Transmission in Stone Mountain fearing the worst, but out of options. Friendly staff listened to the issue and immediately started checking out our car. Turned out to be air conditioner issue, nothing to do with transmission, (disconnected AC, fix later). I cannot say enough about a business that will respond in minutes to a traveler s issue, and help resolve it with no BS, no upsell, just straight talk and respect for a customer they ve only just met!

The terminal-ill patients that we see about and have seen about since July 1995 received sponsorship January 2009 when Mr. Everett and Mrs. Julia put our Ministry in a 1996 Dodge Caravan so we could travel the world over seeing about the terminal-ill. The van had a rebuilt transmission in it and we have enjoyed traveling caring for those who life is short lived.Thank you American Transmission for your generous support down through the years. Is there any way that you can give these guys six stars maybe possibly 10 they were knowledgeable and actually understood the principles of Transmissions I had my vehicle add an Aamco where the service manager at told me that I needed a new control module or a transmission that pretty much covers everything involving your transmission took my vehicle to American Transmission where they simply did a transmission flush and filter my issue went they were but as I was there I heard them giving good advice as people came in the door with a could have just taken advantage of them outstanding workmanship and quality you're definitely in the right hand with these guys

I called inquiring about a transmission replacement..I gave all the info. regarding my car and I'm still awaiting a call back... if you can't return a call in 48 hours.. why would I bring my car here?... hummm.. not me.
