Had my car with a broken belt towed to Akins & Bobs on Saturday evening. Because they were not able to fix it (for not having a master technician), they let me park the car at the shops 2 days free of charge, they also didn't charge for checking the problems.Very honest people, highly recommended.

Excellent people, knowledgeable and friendly. Super convenient as it's walking distance from home. Brent and his crew are awesome, competent and fair.Way better than the last shop I went to in the Skidaway/Victory area that double gasketed my oil filter and installed a strut spring assembly upside down.Go here with confidence. Everyone hates car repairs, but these guys will take care of you for a fair price.

Didn't really stop here for service, just wanted to give a shout out to "Smurf", who saved my day. I was leaving the doctors office across the street and realized I had locked my keys in my car. He was kind enough to take some time out of his day to run over and help me out. Saved me from waiting around for a few hours for insurance to send over a locksmith. I guess if you're going to lock yourself out of the car, no better place to do it than across the street from Akins and Bobb. Thank you again Smurf.

If you re in need of mechanic work, these are TRUE mechanics (rare find) with years/decades of experience. They diagnosed and resolved the problem with my vehicle, even after taking it to Mavis 3 times and the dealership! Hats off to Gil and Alan, I feel much safer on the road now!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Brakes, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacementServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto brake repair, Tire rotations, Brakes, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement

We were getting ready to leave town for a 7 1/2 hour drive home to Richmond and smoke came out of our wheel well. We stopped by the closest place and they said that they couldn t get to it that week even though it was Tuesday. They recommended we try Akins & Bobb and ask for Gilbert. Gilbert was very professional and sympathetic and managed to have our major repair work done by the end of the next day. It was a quite costly job but obviously we couldn t comparison-shop but we feel like they treated us very well.

Worst experience ever! Stay away! I warn you now. I had a beautiful ford Mustang cobra that needed a simple tow to a body shop while I was at work. I get a call from the body shop stating my cobra had arrived but the front bumper was hanging off and my drivers side quarter panel was dented in and the taillight busted. I had to go to court and they ended up costing me thousands in cosmetic damages that they denied ever causing and wouldn't accept fault for. These are bad bad BAD people who don't care about you as a customer nor respect you as a human being. STAY AWAY! they have horrible reviews and a low rating for a reason. Don't have what happened to me happen to you! I'd give them a negative amount of stars if I could!

Terrible!! We had our truck towed there under a false premise. The told us to install a starter would cost $80. They tried to sell us a new one at $254 which we felt was excessive. After we found a part on our own SIGNIFICANTLY LESS... they refused to honor the prices they quoted on the install. I dont know who operates this place date to day... but consumer beware. The worst part is we ignored all the 1 star reviews because AAA gave us there name as an approved location. Which reminds me... they're about to get an earful next.

The people here go out of their way to be nice and explain everything. We're not sure yet what is wrong with my daughter's car; but he says he will keep me informed.

Brought my truck in for AC problems. They kept my truck till the next day. Called me at 9am saying my truck was fixed. These guys went above and beyond to make sure everything was working properly. I would highly recommend you take these guys into consideration.

This place is the truth, great people and great mechanics. Very knowledgeable, upfront and honest with time frame of work to be done. Ignore the 1 star reviews, those people cleary don't know anything that is involved with automechanic work and have fallen victim to having there lives filled with instant gratification. My Fiance and I were traveling south to Florida and decided to make a stop and site see around Georgia when our water pump broke. It was late evening Saturday, so no one was able to fix it. Monday comes around, I called the shop told them the situation. Got the van towed to the shop around noon time and by 4pm they had it fixed and we were back on the road for our trip.Service: Engine repair

Took forever to fix a car! Had to leave my car there for 2 weeks just to fix a timing belt. They didn t clean all the old oil in my car which resulted in a contamination and when I came back, they said leave it there until they have time to fix it! I needed the car to go to work of couse I didn t leave it there and had to go to another shop to get it fix. They acted like everybody stay at home while waiting for them to fix the car. Very unprofessional. Happened to one of my family members as well and they didn t fix a small thing until he said he was moving the car to another shop after 2 weeks. Never come back. There are better places around

One of the best body shops around. I've never seen a shop that took the time to completely educate the customer as thoroughly as they do.And Lamar takes it personally when an insurance company isn't doing the right thing. He will take a stand with the insurance companies to make them do the right thing. He truly has the customers best interests at heart.Very impressive

We were stranded on I-95 and the first company AAA called for us said it would be 3-4 hours before they could get there. Akins and Bobb were there in less than 45 minutes and the driver, Charles, was wonderful. He was able to get us back on the road and even called us personally later that night to be sure we reached our destination safely. You don't get service like that everyday.

Not sure here - AAA - approved service station. Very kind service. I was told engine block was cracked and needed replacement. Drove to next mechanic for second opinion. Serpentine belt was changed and bill was $106.00. I have driven the car 5700 miles since - no issues. Something does NOT ADD UP HERE.

Honest care! They didn't exaggerate what needs to be done, and started on my car quickly. They could have told me much more needed to be done, but instead told me it was not needed. Refreshing to know I have a place to take my vehicles that will not take advantage of me. Highly recommend!

Horrible experience. They are extremely difficult to work with. I had a fairly straight forward repair, called them to get on the schedule and they would not do it until the claim was fully processed. They said however that it would be no problem to meet my travel schedule. When I went in to begin the process, they fully changed the date. When I reminded them of their promise made just two days before, they became belligerent and told "well that is not the case any longer." There are much better places in Savannah to have your body work done. STEER CLEAR!!!

I ve been going to Ailton s and Bobb for a few years and have always been treated fairly and straightforward. Work gets done right and they quality is second to none. I noticed a significant change in their operation recently, the service desk was cleaned up and brighter, I met the new manager and was really impressed with his professionalism and dedication to customer service. This is the only shop I d go to for repairs in Savannah.

This body shop was the least competent and professional of any I have ever dealt with. First of all, the owner was rude to my wife. We all have bad days, but he never apologized Second, these guys had trouble dealing with my insurance company, USAA, and getting the estimate approved. They did not send or failed to email pictures of the damage but claimed that USAA had last the pics. Third, the work was average and the car had sap on it when I picked it up. These guys are poison, stay away.

This place is a disgrace, AAA recommended it . Car broke down 2 weeks after they fixed it . Then they charged my mother $200 to change a piece & to "look" at it . Something evil is living in this place . Who would do someone like this . I depend on my car for so much & now I'm afraid they've done something that may never be fixed. I WARN you do not leave your car here! It will leave worst than when it came .

My wife was in Savannah on May the 14th and was involved in an accident. We have AAA service so she requested a AAA wrecker service. Akins&Bobb Towing was dispatched for her car. She called me back and just kept saying how nice all of the employees there were. Today they brought our car to a meeting point for me to get it and after being on the phone with them and getting to meet one of their staff today all i can say is wow they are all great. I highly recommend Akins&Bobb towing. Thank ALL of y'all so much.

If you want your car to be repaired and your nerves saved, do not be lazy and look for another service. There is no basic diagnostics and, accordingly, there is no result. Here you will lose your money and in return will receive a portion of stress.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

After writing the one star review below, Akins and Bobb refunded my money, so I felt I ought to come back and acknowledge that. Thanks you for the refund.Original:AAA towed my car here when it started making an alarming noise while on a road trip. Knowing I was traveling alone with 3 children and stranded scrambling to find a hotel room, I would have thought they would let me know they were too swamped to fix my car, but they didn't. After more than 36 hours with them no closer to figuring out what was wrong with the car let alone fixing it, I had my car towed to the dealer. I asked Akins to write up the results of all the tests they said they had run on the car and to place it on the driver's seat for the dealer, which they said they would. The dealer found nothing on the driver's seat, but I certainly found Akins' $100 charge for running tests on my credit card statement. When the dealer called Akins for the information of what they had done, they were told by an Akins representative that they hadn't had time to work on my car and had suggested to have it sent to the dealer, which is a bald faced lie. I don't know what Akins really did with my car or whether it was $100 worth of their time, but I do know all my car needed was some transmission fluid, and I'd think that checking the fluids would be the first thing a mechanic would do for a car that has alarming sounds seemingly coming from the transmission.

A&B have been my family's mechanic for 6 years, 3 cars, and 2 trades! They are AAA affiliated, offer military, and educator discounts. They know me by name and face and take my emergencies big or small like it was a problem of their own. I've never not been able to get back to work quickly because they were Bs'ing and price gouging. When you're a single parent, in school, on a budget...these guys mean a lot. Thanks for all you do! Ask for Gil...

Warning!!!! don't go here Akins and Bob Motors up-charged me with unnecessary repairs my vehicle didn't need. Gilbert, the counter sales repairman saw me coming and I feel like a fool for allowing him to con me out of an additional $400 for a starter I did not need. Here's is how he started, Gilbert conversed with me as an expert to win my trust. Then he gave me the repair sheet and told me not to write on it, but I did. (later he swiped it back and started a new sheet). I wrote the reason I brought the vehicle in because of a broken gear shift the receipt states it's a SHIFT CONTROL CABLE. Later, Gilbert calls and tells me my car is ready but it won't start, I told him "it will start by pressing the key and turning it in the ignition." Gilbert told me it was my starter and if I didn't repair it my car would break down on me down the road. I gave him permission to repair the starter, see the upcharge coming, I didn't need a starter I needed my ignition switch repaired, as per deep dive search in Google. When I picked the vehicle up he told me "the mechanic" says you have to press the key in to start the car or it won't start." I told Gilbert that I'd described to him the very same and he told me I need a new starter. Furthermore, Gilbert stated "if I didn't repair the ignition switch it would ruin the starter and the warranty on the starter would-be null and void."The plot thickens, so I begin to ask questions, what is the warranty on this starter, Gilbert said "12 months or 12 thousand miles" the small print at the bottom of the receipt says "90 days or 4000 mi parts labor warranty." I knew I'd been defeated I felt violated. You guessed it, I'm a 63-year-old woman and he would have never played this out with a man 09/27/2019.

AAA refferred me to this shop. Once my car was towed to akins & bobb the man at the front desk of course asked me what happened. Before even looking at my car he made an assumption that my engine failed. He didn t even want to inspect my car. Instead he insisted that I should not leave my car unless I was willing to get a new engine. He made this assumption without even inspecting my car. The topping on the cake was being called little girl by this same man behind the desk who I feel wrote me off when I walked in the establishment. I will not come back to this shop even if they had a discounted rate! Period.

250$ missing from my car while it was in their possession. Company does not communicate well and would not provide info for me to speak with management. I would never recommend this company. Front desk staff is the first source of communication and the skills they possess are little to none. Hopefully, there is not another hardworking victim to a crime of this magnitude by a small company in the community.
