I ve been a very satisfied customer of Chequered Flag Automotive since 2019 when the shop performed a BluePrint 408W swap and PA C4 / GearVendor OD installation into my 65 Mustang Fastback.The most recent work included installation of adjustable, tubular upper and lower control arms, resolving some fluid leaks and a disturbing engine drivability/performance concern.Scott is a true scholar of his craft, thinks outside the box and always considers the big picture when servicing or upgrading a vehicle. Scott s utimate goal for your vehicle is that when it leaves the shop, it s in the best mechanical condition possible. His seasoned mechanics Shawn, Shane and Derrick are top notch.Chequered Flag Automotive is my go to place. I have no reason to take my business anywhere else.

Really appreciated Scott and team doing my rear brake drum to disc conversion and going above and beyond to make sure my car was safe. I needed to upgrade my master cylinder to support both front and rear disc brakes. In addition, I was considering upgrading my carburetor, but Scott informed me it wasn t really necessary as my current carb was perfectly fine for my application. The gist of this is Scott and team won t sell you on work that isn t really needed. I appreciate his honesty and integrity.

Scott and team have done a great job improving my collection of restomods - everything from new engines, overdrive transmissions, big brakes upgrades on everything from a 66 vette to a 83 mustang. Excellent advise and quality work which is essential in cars that drive 3000 miles in 7 days.

Chequered Flag just installed a new 5 speed transmission in my '65 MGB. Service was great, as always. Scott knows MG's and takes great care of his customers. Scott worked with me on the options and the decision to install the Vitesse conversion. The new transmission was a great decision and would not trust anyone other than Scott at Chequered Flag to do it.Service: Transmission

The Checkered Flag automotive team has been very dependable in diagnosing anything that might be hindering the performance of my cars. They have improved the performance, the running and the safety of my vehicles over past two years. Checkered Flag also does a tremendous job in performing the everyday maintenance of my car as specified by the manufacturer. I have also been impressed by the very competitive prices of their service which is lower than the automobile dealers on the work they have done for me.I would recommend Checkered Flag to anyone looking for quality and dependable automotive work for a fair price.

If you want your car fixed right, at a very reasonable price, by true professionals, Chequered Flag is the place. I have been taking my cars to Scott for many years and from the very first time I went to his shop I got the feeling that not only did they know their subject but took care of my car problems with an attitude that had me feeling like they were working on their own car.This company is without a doubt the best auto repair and restoration company I have ever come across.

I have just had my mother-in-laws 1998 ML 320 with only 70K miles serviced, as there was apparently an old, neglected oil leak. All of the below comments still hold. I can't recommend Scott, Shane and Chris enough.I have been a 25+ year customer. The owner and mechanics are professional, knowledgeable, and you are able to speak with them directly. Their honesty and integrity are combined with common sense. Routine maintenance and "big jobs" are all done well, and the advice given is intelligent and practical. I would highly recommend Chequered Flag for all vehicles, old or new--and if you have a vehicle or issue that is not within their scope (unlikely), you will get an honest opinion and recommendation.

Brought my mustang here for a clutch replacement. Scott wanted to use his overpriced "suggested parts" and would not insure the labor on the parts that I suggested. Upon installation of the parts I provided, Scott and his team deliberately damaged some key components making the parts unusable and were still installed anyway. After picking up the vehicle, I could tell right away that there was a problem and, of course, Scott wouldn't fix it. I took the vehicle to G&S Muffler in Woodstock to have them take a look at it. They determined that the parts were in fact tampered with and even showed me. I had G&S buy and install the same clutch that I had recommended and for a better price. I've put 20k miles on the new clutch and not a single problem. Not only did Chequered Flag charge me $400 more for the same job, they deliberately tampered with my parts to make the job faulty to begin with. They are sleezy scammers when they don't get their way.Service: Transmission

I have always wanted to restore a 1973 AMC Matador to be a tribute car for the Adam-12 show. I bought a lime green 1973 AMC Matador and had it at a shop for over a year, and they did nothing but charge me for bad work. I learned of Chequered Flag from doing a search online and their reviews were very good so I called them and spoke to Scott, a 30 year ASE Master Technician. He did not laugh (and I expected him to..lol), but I know my car is the ugliest car in his shop... Scott and his team are probably the MOST competent and knowledgeable team of techs that I have ever encountered. Honest, trustworthy, and competent are words that I freely use for Chequered Flag. We have been working on my car for 2 months and I can tell you, if you love your car, and want it done RIGHT, go HERE! The absolute best! I'll give the final review when I get her back but I am certain Scott and his team will deliver a first class product. Bravo Scott and team!

I wish all of my business with folks were as easy and high quality as dealing with Scott at Chequered Flag - We are long time customers (10+ years) who are always satisfied with the work that takes place there - HIGHLY recommend going to this shop.Scott does upkeep on my Mazda and my wife's Toyota, but if you want to have custom work on a muscle car, or any type of vehicle, he does that too. I always leave Chequered Flag wanting to drive one of those "other" cars he works on at his place.

This place is AWESOME!The other day my son's car broke down and we had to have it towed. My son, who is 19, is living away from home in GA so I was not able to take care of the situation in person like I normally would. A friend recommended Chequered Flag Auto, a repair shop in Roswell, and we had the car towed there. We dealt with Scott and I found him to be very knowledgeable and professional. As a Dad, it s hard to handle situations like this without wondering whether or not the repair shop is trying to oversell, or even take advantage of a 19 year old young man. This was not the case with Scott. I found him to be very thorough and helpful. He diagnosed the problem, let me know what needed to be done right away to get the car running and made recommendations as to repairs that should be done at some point in the future but were not urgent. He got the car up and running at a very reasonable price. I even checked to see what the repairs would cost here locally and it would have cost me more to get it done here at home in NC. I would highly recommend Scott and his team.

I cannot say enough great things about Chequered Flag. Scott and Shane are fantastic. They service and maintain several of my vehicles and they always do an amazing job. Fabrication, Engine Rebuilds, Turbos and even NOS. Scott is meticulous about the details and he makes sure everything is done correctly.

I wouldn't trust this company with my car. I mistakenly and innocently parked in one of his parking spots (that was not posted as his shop's parking spaces) so I had no idea I was not supposed to park there. I went into another store for no more than 5 minutes and when I came out my car was blocked by his red chevy 2500 diesel pickup. (He obviously did this on purpose to make me confront him in his shop) I went inside the shop and he quickly told me he absolutely did it on purpose and he should have had me towed. He said he should just leave his truck there and not let me leave. There were at least 8 parking spots open too. Might be a testament to his following. Obviously he's jealous of other automotive companies that are near his shop to be so defensive about a parking spot. What a complete tool! I have no idea if he does good car work but I have personally witnessed a personality that I would never deal with on a business level. Beware.

Scotty worked on my parents 1974 Fiat 124 for many years. My father trusted Scotty implicitly and often, believe it or not, would say "Scotty doesn't charge enough." I know that sounds ridiculous but when my 92 year old mother passed away, and I inherited the car, I understood. The car looked brand new. Then I went through the service records. This guy KNOWS cars. All the little notes and nuances were impressive. Just keeping a 45 year old Fiat running like new is an impressive feat in itself. If you have a special car that you really care about take it to Scotty and let him do what he does. Final note - I live 1,000 miles away and can't give him my business any more but when I emailed with a question he responded within 12 hours helping me out. Good luck finding someone better. I would attach a photograph but apparently can't in this review. But I'll bet Scotty can send you a picture if you want to see his handiwork.

While i'm sure a fantastic mechanic communication is most certainly an issue. After an initial quote of $8500 I reviewed and picked only certain services I wanted to be handled. I was quoted $3800 for this. Show up one week later to pick up vehicle (note: was told by Scott this would take 2 weeks...so finished early mind you) and the bill was $5600. This was never discussed with me whatsoever - a 33% increase and i find out the moment i pick up the vehicle. What did i get after 30 minutes of back and forth? An apology and a $200 credit. This is not how i do business nor how i expect others to - such a shame for someone who seems to be a well-respected mechanic (may be the last time i trust google reviews).

Scott did a great job on my older Jaguar. He is very knowledgeable and gave me great advice on how to proceed addressing the problems. This shop was recommended by a friend. That friend stated that this place does great work and has great integrity. It's hard to find a shop with integrity and honesty that you can really trust in today's world, but this place is the epitome of those two terms. I highly recommend.
