this place doesn't even rate one star but has to to post a review.my wife and I arrived to check into our room and found it freezing cold. the near bathroom mirror was gone leaving adhesive on the walls. the room was also filthy. I told the front desk this was unacceptable and wanted a refund.I was assured the owner would be back later and do a refund. after driving several hours to get be there we were tired and found a decent hotel. I'm still waiting on the refund I was told was coming, but hasn't so far. I'd rather have had a good experience with this place but can't recommend it and urge you to stay away. the owner will rip you off!Noteworthy details: terrible experience and a rip off

I was there for 5 minutes. As I was walking to my room. Carpet was very dirty. Looked like someone had puked in floor. Then i smelled something burning in the hallway. The place a strange smell to it. I gave it a 1star. Thats lowest review i vould give it.

I don't often leave a bad review, but people should know what they're getting into.Yes, it's on the river. That's the positive side of this review. In room 14, there were bugs in the corners of the room. The light in the bathroom wouldn't come on. The bathtub was filthy. The water wouldn't even get to luke warm. The riverside door wouldn't lock.We would have been better off sleeping in our tents.

I love the location with beautiful view of river. A very good restaurant is in with this hotel, and they provided entertainment all day that maintained an appropriate noise level and ended at 10:00 p.m. They allowed us to keep our small pet (only certain rooms so call before). Generally friendly staff, and rooms were generally clean. Some updating of bathrooms and bathroom flooring would make this a more aesthetically pleasing accommodation. Adding a clothes rack would also be nice. Also, a little outside work around A/C units would be helpful. Overall, we had a very good stay.Nearby activities: Lots of nearby activities including great shopping and restaurants. Close to Anna Ruby Falls. Tubing down the river. Most parking in Helen is $10.00. We did go to Hofbraufest, and it was great also.Safety: On a busy road.Walkability: within a short driving distance or walking distance of a little over a mile to shopping. Two restaurants in short walking distance.Food & drinks: In complex Hofbrauhaus Riverfront Restaurant and Betty's Restaurant and market nearby.Noteworthy details: Loved the Hofbraufest in Helen. It is on the outskirts of town a little away from the busiest area.

The room was absolutely awful. There were bugs and when we woke up there were spiders on the wall. It was like living a horror movie . I strongly recommend that you do not go to this hotel. It is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in . We were out of there by 6 am you couldn't even take a shower because of the water not staying at a constant temp instead it was really hot to really cold. So if you want a room with bugs spiders holes in the wall then this is the hotel for youRooms: Awful holes in the walls bugs and spiders

We checked in seen the room and left. It was my birthday trip and horrible. I wouldn't let my dog sleep in the room we had. The floor was falling in . Cob webs everywhere. Dust in the busted up window until and vents. No light cover over one of the light fixtures. Absolutely disgusting pillows. There was a roach on the nasty bathroom floor. The room had a strong musty smell. The shower was stained with a brown tint and the shower curtain was filthy. We have asked for a refund that I doubt we get. I booked this room a month in advance and when we arrived the receptionist claimed her computer went out and she didn't have my reservation. She said we were lucky to get a room. The deck up stairs you walked on to get to our room was scary old and ragged. Great location for a horror movie. We could've got out fast enough.

Stayed 4 nights a few different times seen one worker Everytime. Water pressure and temp has always been great. I wouldn't recommend if your a boujee person. One must understand your renting a room from an older built bldg so don't expect heaven. TV only had 8 channels on last visit. Just pay to stay in a nice cabin nearby..... Or one of the commercial hotel and suites.Rooms: 2/10Some lights didn't work , TV had 8 channels cable barely into wallNearby activities: Georgia mountain coaster, unicoi Park, Raven Cliff falls, Helen water ParkSafety: Doors barely lock so make sure you stay strapped fooWalkability: Everything is within walking distance I'm townFood & drinks: Honey bun, instant grits, oatmeal, frozen sausage biscuits and apple or orange juice is your breakfast.... Everything in town is always packed and very limited... Id suggest driving 20 min south to Cleveland.

BEWARE!! DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel is the worse place I have ever stayed in. We paid $400 a night during Oktoberfest. My nonsmoking room reeked of smoke we had to light a candle for the smell. The bathroom which looked like someone tried to upgrade with tile had putty all over bathroom floor so obviously was not swept or cleaned. We woke up to baby roaches crawling all over our closed water bottle. We left immediately and showed the lady behind counter the pictures and video. All she said was I ll let the owner know. Unable to get in touch with owner and he will not return my phone calls.Rooms: Horrible. Disgusting. Roach infested.

Take the bad reviews seriously!!! Do yourself a favor Spend your money on camping gear at Walmart and camp. It'd be more luxurious. There's ZERO % chance I would stay here at this place. Especially with wife and family. The ONLY thing good about it is the restaurant that it's next to. ( food and service there is amazing, and they have great live music)

Never again!!!! My husband and I paid almost $500 for this room due to the fact that it was October Fest. First, we got there, checked into our room.....which was filthy, we ran water into the jacuzzi tub which was also dirty just to see if it worked. It didn't. So my husband went to the office to tell them about it. The maintenance guy came and looked at it and confirmed it was a broken so we were given another room.....also extremely dirty. The jacuzzi worked but there was a huge brown ring around the tub. Again, we paid almost $500. The continental breakfast consisted of apples, oranges, instant grits, instant oatmeal, pre packaged muffins and honey buns, and the frozen sausage biscuits. For the amount of money we paid we should have gotten a full course breakfast. I'm not sure where the photos of the rooms in this hotel online were taken but it definitely wasn't at this property. False advertising is putting it nicely. If you want a good clean, quality place to stay DO NOT GO HERE!!! We will never come back. I have no idea how this place could ever pass any inspection to stay opened. It should either be condemned with or completely remodeled.

It was absolutely one of the worst motel/hotels that my wife and I have ever stayed in.1# The room was a disgusting mess of hodgepodge of piss poor homemade repairs. It also reaked of cigarettes.2# The window AC/Heater was located above the vanity mirror extremely dirty and only worked if you manually changed setting, when it worked.3# I can't confirm but both myself and wife got several bug bites on our ankles, I assume it's from fleas. There was a bug on the ceiling.4# The bathroom, all I can is it was probably suitable for a crackhead.5# I did not notice the evening we checked in, but the amount of cigarette butts in the flower pots outside the main office door has kept the local cigarette vendors very wealthy.I could go on, and on and on, but I won'tI hope this encourages future business to go elsewhere. You may ask why, did we stay. Simply we were tired and we booked online and we laughed at first about this adventure. When the many things we were laughing at became blazingly clear. That this place could be one of the nicest places to stay in Helen. It is so clear that from the owner downstairs, they care nothing about this potentially wonderful business. SHAME, is what I hope they feel if they read this, but since there is no response to anyone's reviews, they probably do not read these. Please, please don't waste your money. Drive on or sleep in your car.

Great location, right on the river but needs safer access to the river. Rooms were basic but definitely need some updating and basic repairs. Nothing seemed securely stable shower head, tub handle, shelves, sink, toilet, tub faucet, front door and back door . Not worth 98 a night though.Safety: Back doors and back deck were a little sketch and the bathroom needs everything better secured to the walls and tub.

This was the worse place I ever seen. We paid good money to stay in a hole like this!!!!! Got locked in the bathroom and had to use a credit card to get out. Called maintenance and didn't fix it, tighten a screw and walked out. Had to leave the door open the rest of the stay. Should close the doors to this place.Rooms: Horrible.. fifty dirty. Never again

Loved the customer service of front desk worker. She was kind. Loved the location. Bed was comfortable.Dislikes: shower, sink and walls were super old, I think from the 1970s! The air conditioner has the plastic on it. The breakfast was muffins, oatmeal, and apples. It was a good budget hotel but seriously needs to be cleaned (I had a roach drop on me ) and some TLC.

I always try to look at the positive and normally would not leave a review unless it was positive, but I feel this experience was one of the worst all-around experiences ever with a hotel.RUDEST staff on the mountain. When we arrived at the hotel, I said hello and the lady at the desk said, "What's your name?" My husband said 'good morning' to her when we went to get "breakfast, " and she literally only made a noise and tilted her head. Honestly, if the staff had not been repeatedly rude to me and my husband, I wouldn't be leaving this review right now.BUGS!This place is near the river and surrounded by trees, not a city hotel. Unfortunately It's run down and not maintained very well, but for less than $100 per night and a last minute get away, we were ready to brave it. We dropped our bags, changed our shoes, and went out for dinner and sightseeing. I noticed a few ants on the nightstand, so I picked up my train case and moved it to the dresser. When we came back at around 10 pm to go to sleep, I saw a roach crawl under the microfridge as my husband walked into the bathroom . After jumping on the bed, I saw another one crawling out from under the bed. I screamed, my husband killed it and went to the front desk to ask for a different room immediately. No one was there. He rang a bell and waited and then sent me the phone number posted on the sign to call. When I called the number the man asked if we had gone to the front desk. I said yes, but no one was there. He said he would call me right back. He called me back with 5 minutes and said, "Go to the front desk, and they will get you a different room," and hung up. When I went to the front desk, 3 people were there. They did move us to a room with 2 double beds, but not only did I receive no apologies, but they were clearly hostile when I got to the door. Two people on the poarch followed me into the tiny office as I went to the front desk. They kept repeating that "no one else had reported roaches," and it was "just sprayed."I was literally standing there in my PJs, already pretty vulnerable, and was being treated like I had done something wrong by 3 staff members. (2 women and 1 man) If the staff had shown any remorse or empathy, I would not be writing this review right now. I get it things happen, but the total lack of kindness makes me angry, and I want to make sure others do not find themselves in the same situation."BREAKFAST"They had packaged honey Buns, packages of instant oatmeal/instant grits, and a basket of apples. There is no way these rooms are up to any type of hospitality code. The 1st room was a king bed (this was the one with bugs). Dust everywhere. Clearly, it had not been cleaned properly in a long time. Holes in the fireplace, air conditioner was broken, and bugs. The 2nd room was two double beds. The door knob on the bathroom was broken. The front and back doors were beaten up pretty badly with significant gaps when closed. Definitely signs of some forced entry on both sides.. Was just dinghy and dusty. If we hadn't already paid in full and repeatedly told our room was non-refundable, we would have just left.

The first room we were given has evidence of bed bugs, food left in the refrigerator, and stains all over the sides of the beds. It smelled awful. The second room was a little cleaner, but in poor repair. The next morning we realized that there was no shower head and the tub was stained. All in all, I could not get out of this hotel fast enough.

I made reservations for Oct 3 to 6 in mid Sept. I was looking at the reviews later all were bad so i canceled later the same day. I was told they would email me the cancelation and number never received it. Called several times about that always told they would email it. When we got the credit card they had charged us for the bill. I have called several times but always told I have to speak to manager. The manager is never there. This is some shady business avoid this motel.

This place is horrible. The pictures are nothing like the rooms. They were not on the waterfront. We pulled in and my husband was ready to leave. I checked in and gotthe keys hoping it was better on the inside. We walked into our king suite to see mold on the walls, the room was disgusting and right out if 1967. My husband does pest control so naturally he immediately noticed the roaches and bedbugs. We got back in the car and went back to the desk. I politely asked for a refund but only got part of the money back. The girl at the desk wanted to argue with me about the conditions of the room so I just left. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

How do you even start this review. I have never in my life stayed at such a disgusting place in my life. This place should be shut down and condemned. Staying under a bridge would have been more pleasant than this trash hole. The customer service or manager whatever she was, was the rudest most unprofessional person ever. Trash over flowing, water is brown when it comes out, everything falling apart, mold, holes in wall. The list goes on. How in the world this place is still open and charging over $200 for it is beyond me. Sleep in your car seriously it s safer and nicer.

At the time of our stay we were really just trying to sneak in a getaway on a very tight budget. This is one of the cheapest hotels we were able to find in town. Based on that, the state of the rooms should be no surprise. This is an old hotel that is pretty run down.Pros: We never felt unsafe during our stay. My biggest deal breaker would have been bed bugs, and the room was clear of those. The lady in the office was very nice. The location is close enough to town that we parked our car when we arrived and never had to drive again until we left.Cons: The rooms aren't in good shape. They are old and musty. There was an old fireplace in the room that I think used to have gas logs that had been removed. But, the fireplace was not closed up in anyway. It was basically just a big dirty hole in the wall. The mantle above the fireplace had not been cleaned in what had to be years, it was caked in dust. On the last night my husband saw a mouse run across our dresser (luckily he didn't tell me about that until we got home).Bottom line- Hotel prices in Helen, in general, are higher than I expected them to be. This room was half the price of some others in the area. As expected, it was half the quality also.

Reporting to the BBB and Health Department...The lady in the office took 53 min exactly to get our keys for the room. She was argumentive when I asked her to stop taking personal calls. The room wasn't clean. Holes in the walls. The pictures online lied. Mattresses were shot. Ac was a busted window unit. We paid $270 for one night!! I'm actually going to report the Hotel to the BBB. They shouldn't get away with this.Rooms: Rooms were not clean. Beds were cheap. Springs Busted. Carpet had a film on it.Safety: Grounds were nasty. Trash piled up. Good access to river. Poor grounds. Nails sticking out of steps.Noteworthy details: $275 for 1 Hot, smelly, dirty room. Didn't even sleep under the sheets.

I was really excited about our weekend trip. We normally stay at another hotel but this time we wanted to be by the river. My elderly mother was with myself husband, and our granddaughter. The floors were nice and the room was clean. The bathroom on the other hand, well I felt like I had traveled back in time to 1984 back to my childhood home. The tub was dirty honestly. Checked the bed for bugs as I always do,it was clean. The sheets and blankets smelled musty. Our heat barely worked. We had to go to the nearest Walmart and buy blankets to keep warm, especially for my mother. The mattresses we're terrible. Outdated spring mattresses. The lady in the office was nice and it was convenient. But I don't think we would stay here again.

We had a great stay! It was right on the river. Our room was clean. They came in to take out our trash and give us clean towels. The lady at the front desk was super friendly. We'll definitely be coming back!Rooms: Clean and comfortableNearby activities: Fishing, mountain coaster, tubing, shopping, restaurants and more!Walkability: Plenty of places in walking distance. There's one restaurant right next door.

Can I leave Zero Stars??? Your Future Experience... Sign in, Get your key, Enter the room and discover bugs in the Bed, Bath, Tub, stop looking. Get grossed out. You'll go back to the front desk, Lady will tell you, " I'm new ". Blame some mysterious person for not cleaning and then point to a piece of paper, taped on the wall behind her desk that reads, "No Refunds". You too should move on. Once you check in, you can't get your money back.....

This was the nastiest place I've ever stayed at. They need to take some of money and hire a cleaning staff. Hair all over the bathroom floor, hair and God knows what else was in the jets of the jacuzzi, toilet was leveled with a rolled up paper. Things found under the bed from previous guest, left beer bottles left our patio, and had no chairs to sit on the patio. Bird S..t all over the steps and railings to our room. And overgrown weeds so no access to the river..... and top off the chair in the room had horrible stains on it and it was missing the nightstand and blown lights.

I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. The room we booked online wasn't even available when we arrived. The next room offered was actually someone else's. Our keys worked for another persons room (all of their personal belongings all over the room) not safe at all. The next room was used and dirty. We finally received an empty "clean" room...it was so gross that I couldn't use the bathroom..we left after an hour. Couldn't even stay the night because of filth and not safe!
