Front desk information specialist provided the perfect information and plan for our short trip at HelenPerfect customer service .. If you are visiting Helen you will get free parking space next to welcome centre . From free parking area to Helen downtown is just less than a mile in distance and avoids paying $10 parking fee at other parking areas ..

Helen Georgia is a charming little alpine town. There are plenty of interesting shops, resteraunts & bars and hotels /cabins to ensure you have a great time. The alpine sledding is a lot of fun. During the Christmas season, the town goes all out to decorate and is wonderfully festive! My recommendation is to stay in a cabin or one of the chain hotels. Some of the mom and pop motels have their challenges. Great place for summertime exploring as well.

My friend and I came to Helen to celebrate my birthday. It was very nice drive and because this was my friends first time visiting and I had visited in years we decided to stop in Welcome Center to get advice on things to do for the afternoon. The staff was friendly and helpful and even gave us free map and coupons which we later used to save 10% on our lunch.

Nice hostess, good printouts of local info and anything you could want in the GA area! Make sure to check out the small veteran's park on the Edelweiss Strasse side.

We stumbled unto Helen, GA, by accident looking for a gas station (which are few and far between in the mountains). The town was packed with visitors for a German festival, parking hard to find, with lots of German style architecture. We'll try to return on a non-festival weekend and stay to visit.

I have never felt so unwelcome at a welcome Center ! Julie was nice at first but both her and her coworker Alta were extremely rude, especially Alta, She took it upon herself to yell at my oldest son because my 1 year old was laughing and screaming and running around. My oldest had no idea why she was yelling at him. She embarrassed and disrespected my son! She made my whole family uncomfortable and to keep the peace we didn t say anything to her about the situation until we took the kids outside. She was rude to my husband after telling her he didn t appreciate the way she yelled at our son. She completely ruined the Helen experience. As someone who works at a welcome center I m sure she should know that people drive from far away and kids get excited to be out of the car especially a toddler. Definitely wouldn t recommend anyone to stop by here.

This town desperately needs a large parking area outside town, and either some sort of tram, or if they really want to be like Bavaria, a streetcar line from parking to downtown. Not one bratwurst stand on the street either.

Beautiful village, but the people could use a little coaching on kindness. But now I can say that I've seen it, I've even been there, that's enough for me.

The two women working in the welcome center last Sat. were the most unknowledgable that I have ever seen in a visitor's center. They barely spoke when we came in the door. They acted as though they didn't know the place where we were staying and it was on the same street within walking distance. Come on, it's a small town. They didn't know where the items in the display case were purchased. We happened to run upon one item before we left town.Aren't you supposed to be promoting your city? If you don't like your job, give it to someone with more enthusiasm. You are sometimes the first people see when they come into town. Do better.

Lots of useful info and a helpful staffer at the desk who made sure we got coupons and maps to attractions that interested us. We'd have saved six dollars if we'd come here first instead of making it our second stop. The restrooms were squeaky clean, too.

This was your standard visitor center but with a charming appearance to match the town's German vibe. They had a wide variety of information available regarding the town and surrounding area. The lady that worked the front desk was extremely helpful and kind and gave us great suggestions on how to spend our day trip to Helen. She was knowledgeable about attraction locations and distances and times of operation. I would definitely recommend stopping in for some info to plan your day. Also of note, the restroom was clean and well-stocked.

Lovely welcome Center with public restrooms, good souvenirs and postcards, and a couple nice ladies dressed in German attire who are giving information about town. Lovely building, and it even has flower boxes, (sadly) some of the only ones in town. I would have given them more stars, except for the fact that we came to town and stayed overnight specifically to see the Oktoberfest parade today. Went to the Welcome Center this morning and got a map and talked to the lady about the parade. She and the map indicated that the parade started at Riverside Park. We sat and waited in our vehicle at the corner of Riverside Park because it had been raining all morning. We had been told downtown yesterday that the parade usually doesn't get started exactly on time. So when it was 12:15 and we hadn't seen anything yet we decided to walk down towards the Welcome Center where the staging area was. We got there and there was nothing in sight. Went into the Welcome Center to be told that the parade was already downtown. Somehow it did not follow its route from the tubing center where it was supposed to stage, past Riverside park where it was supposed to start. Very disappointed.

Today is our 15 yr wedding anniversary and we scrapped all the extra money we had to come for a romantic get away. We got a cabin with a hot tub, well it doesn't work, the air conditioner is awful. And we have been nothing but romantic. We asked to be moved but they said they had no more cabins. We asked for our money back the said 7 to 10 business days . So we asked for at least A nice dinner someplace nice. They declined that as well. We spent all our money on the cabin and some groceries to eat while we are here enjoying our snuggle time in our hot tub. Well ....... That's ruined. I am appalled at the way these people have handled this. This is a very special day for us that it now not so special the way we planned.

First of all my heart vanilla chai was not hot and the flavor was very very strong and I could actually taste mold in the drink, needless to say the pot needs to be cleaned out and someone needs to learn how to make a hot vanilla chai. I tried to call them to explain this to them and the phone rang and rang and then it finally said this phone number was not set up to take messages goodbye. I do not blame the little girl that made it she was sweet

Restrooms were clean! The staff was excellent, you could tell they were genuinely interested in you and what your interest were. We ate at Boudinsee German restaurant our second time there and the food was fabulous.
