Very much enjoyed my stay at Alpine Crest. Easy river access and 2 quick walking routes into town. I visit Helen to tube, hike, relax, browse shops, snack and eat German food and drink German beer. The steep winding rode to the quaint buildings is exciting and adds to the charm. This place feels like staying at a off season ski resort in Europe...and I love it. Buildings are old but clean. Minor repair needed here and there in room but acceptable for age of unit. I would stay again and try to get a top floor unit for the awesome view and spacious living room and balcony. Some of the amenities were out of commission but..it is..what it is.My family enjoyed the experience and visit to Helen. We've been coming up every 2 years for 12 years and are amazed at the growth of Helen and the changes. Every time we came up there was a new hotel and I've never seen so many people as this year! Town was busting at the seams! No parking and hundreds of people everywhere. Saturdays are VERY busy then much calmer during the week. Looking forward to visiting again.

This the nastiest place I have ever stayed and they call it a resort we get there no email as how to check in when we finally figured it out we picked the packet up at the security shed now it has a sign that if you have any problems you can go in the shed and use the phone that is a lie no phone is in there we get to the 2 bedroom condo if that is what you want to call it and there is no heat 27 degrees we tried call numbers to answer on any of the numbers the phone in the condo doesn't work so my husband turned the oven on the next morning we saw the maintenance man he came up changed the filter told him we had to use the oven he told us if we had anymore problems to call Annette still no heat still no answer at the office or the number her gave us my husband had to go buy a heater for us to be able to get a little warm 2nd night 30 degrees so finally we got a hold of someone in the office and told them the heat doesn't work she said she would have the maintenance man check it out my daughter he has already been there and changed the filter we left and came back that evening still freezing in there called back to the office they answered told them about the heat she stated that the maintenance guy said it was 90 degrees in there when he came in Thursday that's a lie we ran the oven and the thermometer was 8 feet from the oven and he needed permission to go in there but that morning she said she would send him up to take care of it she called back and said we could stay through the weekend and she would put us in another room we switched rooms we had heat but the bathtub was falling in and when it fell ot was going to the garage smh my husband looked the tub was leaking and it had mold everywhere under it sinking way down with any kind of weight the remotes to the tvs didn't work in either condo the toilet ran all night the faucet in the kitchen dripped couldn't shut it off the dishes was dirty in the cabinets I believe the condo she moved us to was already rented someone tried to come in on us in the middle of the night so they put them in the condo we was in they hadn't cleaned I know this because we still had a set of keys for it because you have to bag your laundry up and take your trash down and do your dishes before leaving and we hadn't done that we was tired from our activities that day I saw a wrecker service truck come up and I went out on the balcony to see what was going on and he stated he was there to get a tire with a flat the lady checked in and she was very unhappy with the room being used that she left and needed me to get the car the grounds are horrible grown up nasty I will not stay there againRooms: They need a major upgrade -10Nearby activities: It is a cute little town with tons of stuff to do we are pleased with that part we will definitely come back but not stay here I took pictures of the tub the moldNoteworthy details: Anna Ruby falls 10+Brasstown Bald 10+Museum store 10+We loved the town & pubs

The pool was closed.. the playground was so grown up my child couldn t play on it. We brought our fishing pole to fish and the pond was so grown up. The bugs are way out of control. The walk way is grown up with trash everywhere into town the slides are never opened. I own a timeshare here for a week and I m selling it after this trip.. not worth the feesNearby activities: The pool was closed.. the playground was so grown up my child couldn t play on it. I can t believe this is referred to as a resort. It s horrible!!! When you go into the Clubhouse the pool table felt is ripped in a few places and there aren t enough balls to play an actual game. The handicap ramp is jagged, rickety and totally unsafe. The pool is just old. Forget about the so called water park as the slides are not operational. There s literally nothing to do at this tired resort . As you travel up the winding, steep road deciding if you should be praying for your safety or that the condo is in better shape, or both . You re met with these parking spaces that have active and inactive mud dauber nests in them. Once you climb the 2 flights of stairs, you walk into a run down unit with old furniture, outdated bathrooms with disgusting stuff in the vents and ceilings with mold on them. The jacuzzi doesn t stay full and the water doesn t stay hot either. The deck is also black with mold and rickety. The stairs going to the loft are creaky and the carpet is stained. This was the BIGGEST disappointment as we were celebrating my birthday and were looking forward to a nice, comfortable stay - especially for what we paid for this unit. Not only do you NOT get WiFi signal that they advertise because the signal and strength are so poor, you have to strip the bedding and gather all used towels up and take the trash to the dumpster at the end of your stay. What exactly am I paying housekeeping for?? Almost $800 and literally NOTHING to do and a dump of a unit. You can rent a stunning cabin for this $ and you don t have to do housekeeping s job on top of it. Extremely disappointed!!Rooms: Absolutely disgusting! Dead bugs everywhere. Mold on the ceilings, carpet stains.Safety: Not safe for disabled people or children. Very concerning about mold and growth in vents.Noteworthy details: Bad WIFI, old and outdated bathrooms and appliances, rickety decks, not handicap accessible, water slides inoperable, mold.

Wife and I went during Oktoberfest. Place was dated but clean enough and was really tucked away which I liked. We really enjoyed the balcony too.BEWARE: after the stay, these people must sell your phone number or something because I have been getting daily calls from a "Verified Spam" number mentioning that I stayed here. Every. Single. Day. and they won't let up.The place is fine as long as your expectations are set appropriately, but it also comes with a guarantee of daily spam calls. Will not stay again because of this.

Miss this place. Old times. Hot pool. Fun pool. Updated stairs great. Already know that Alpine has become a poor establishment (water pressure, little activity, and . We will not ever forget our memories.Walkability: Walk down the mountain....Noteworthy details: Pool is open and that's rare!

We were here second week in August 2022. It was poor, it definitely needs updating. The dishwasher was broke, phone and internet didn t work, found roaches in bathroom. Dishes were put away in cupboard dirty. If you need something extra expect to pay for it. Many steps to go up to get to room. Waterslide was not working had green algae all over it, only one rowboat but would be afraid to use it.Was supposed to stay for week, we only stayed 2nights until we could find another place to stay. Neighbors had a huge hornet s nest outside on porch and found a tray of biscuits in oven. It makes Helen seem like hell!

We arrived on the 2 nd of December. Check in was to be at 4 pm. We arrived at 3:20 pm.There was no one in sight,no signs stating where to check-in or out. Our friend called a number that was posted on the front door,of the office/ rec building. A maintenance man came down the hill from the area of buildings. We finally got checked in and to our "condo." It was a two bedroom and two bathroom. The extra time waiting was for the cleaning staff to make sure the room was clean. We had two twin size beds for us to sleep in. Our friend, had a queen bed for them. The phone in the room, was not in service. There was no WIFI,no extra bed linens, blankets, pillows. The extra blankets were in the floor of the closet, with the vacuum cleaner sitting on the edge of them. Our friend used her weekend, points from RCI,with this trip. It was the first time that a time share has had any rooms in Helen,GA.We have been in Gatlinburg,TN. With her in a condo, that was an older building but well maintained. We have had these reservations for two months at least. The place needs to be cleaned up inside and repaired.Check out was at 10 am. You had to strip the beds and put the dirty linens and towels in a clear bag.Take out the trash,do the dishes and put them up. No big deal other than, the bed spread?? When does those get changed? They were sure to give you a price list if you need anything extra. An extra filter and coffee was a quarter. Glad that I packed my own coffee!!

Not an upscale fancy place, but a great place to stay. The condo we rented was roomy and comfortable. It was like going back to the 1980's but the price was right. The kitchen was big, and the grounds were well maintained. We did not get a chance to go to the pool, but we did sit by the river and watch the people go by that was fun

Needs updating inside and out. It is clean. No cable working at that time. No amenities everything was closed pool fitness there was absolutely nothing to do and without cable. I would not go back unless I had a huge upgrade with nice furniture and better parking. It is a good location and you can walk to everything downtown. And it did have the basic essentials for a week's stay . I am a timeshare owner and I would not recommend this Resort.

Easy friendly check-in. Everything was ready. Place is slightly dated but that's exactly the kinda feel I like in Helen. Everything was clean. Had an amazing view of downtown. Previous reviews made me nervous of the steep driveway but it really isn't bad at all. It's directly behind downtown with parking at the bottom where you can walk a trail into town right by Paul's on the River and the Mountain Coaster. The road coming in has the carriages and horses that work Helen. Unique spot at the top. Secluded feel yet within minutes of everything you want to do.

We are owners of the resort for 20 years, used it as primarily an exchange thru RCI as a red week unit, we had been able to exchange for anything until they went week points, now hardly anything, first time using and we had guest come up from Florida, I m embarrassed to have them here, the place is the worst maintained resort I have ever been in . No staff on weekends, moldy building falling apart, grounds not taken care of, all amenities falling apart , I want to know what they have done for 20 plus years with all the maintenance fees? Obviously nothing to my resort!!!!!!!!!

I booked a unit here thinking we would be able to enjoy the "modern" world and nature. However, it's way too over priced when you consider they closed all public amenities (understandably), bedding was stained and smelled like icy hot (so maybe not clean??), do not have smart TVs, and there's no cable.Great location and seclusion. We really enjoyed staying here, however, I wouldn't stay again. The things I enjoyed about this place, I can do camping for a lot less.

Great location, relaxing grounds tucked away from town but a convenient walk to the main street. I loved our room- the jacuzzi and little balcony overlooking the trees was picturesque and fun. The indoor pool is large and so retro! Also nice workout room and sauna. I was glad to have covered parking too.

We arrived to find all amenities closed. Water slides, park, pool, game room, play ground everything. The whole reason for our trip was to take all 6 of our kids. There was no one there but the few people who worked there it looked like a ghost town. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and went to look at our quarters it was very outdated and dusty cracks in the ceiling and walls the Bannister in the loft was very lose and you could shake it easily... we asked for a refund and was told booking.com was responsible for that we contacted them to be told alpine resort was responsible who in turn said VRI (Vacation resorts international) was responsible. We feel we drove 100 miles to be robbed of our money. Terrible experience with alpine resort and booking.com. still waiting for our 434.35 to be returned......

The resort itself is in a good location in Helen Georgia. I like the fact that I can book a two-bedroom condo. However, if you want to use the facilities you have to drive to them because there's no walking path from your condo to the pool or to the river. I think the worst part about this experience was the information that I received from the staff there. When I checked in at the guardhouse he gave me a packet with information and the keys. I proceeded to take the kids to the pool where I was told they needed wristbands. I went to the front desk to get the wristbands and the lady was very rude and she told me well if you read your book in your room you would know that there's a $5 charge per wristband because people don't return the wristbands. I didn't know that was even a book in the room because the guard told me everything I needed was in the packet given to me. When I got the wristbands I told the lady I was going tubing. However, when I went to the tubing place they said that I needed tubing passes from the hotel that the wristbands did not work period that the hotel should have gave me passes. At this point I paid the $50 to go tubing because I wasn't driving back to the resort to get the passes. The room itself was great with the exception of the fact that the whirlpool in the room did not work, there was no cold water, and the pull out couch was nasty. When I went to check out I told the lady at the front desk. There was very little cold water in the room to take a bath with, and that the whirlpool tub did not work, and the pull out couch needed to be replaced because it was really nasty and she was rude about it. Her response was well you werent suppose to have a pullout couch or use it so it does not matter. I also told her about the tubing incident and she's like well you should have read your packet. So pulled out the packet and I showed her where it said that tubing was free for guests but it had no instructions about needing passes to go tubing and when I checked in that I didn't get the passes and she's like well that's your problem. Overall, the two people working guest services that I dealt with were not very nice and did not give me the correct information. So it really ruined my stay.

My sisters mother in law got a timeshare. She did it early and asked for an 8 people house/room. The resort gave her a different room saying that they gave the room to someone else? She used to come here 4 years ago stated how this resort used to be a lot better. One of the workers in the clubhouse resort service's parent said how the resort had cable and without warning or explanation? The resort took of the cable. There grills outside are not clean unless you go to the clubhouse and report it. THEN management fixes it. Even with the grills cleaned? The grills are somewhat rusty. For some reason, the telephone lines are off and not resolved. There Wi-Fi is not strong enough for a lot of people which makes it super bad for people trying to connect. To come to a close? The houses/rooms are comforting. Even though the resort looks run down? It gives it a cool aesthetic. I like this place but! Management and an upgrade is needed. When we came in? I saw two dead spiders. Another problem was that they do not give you enough supplies such as: detergent, dishwasher soap, toilet paper and soap. (one of the spiders looked like a mouse spider or a house spider)UPDATE 10/29/2020I'm on my bed and I felt a small insect on my arm. I went to squish it? AND IT JUMPED OFF! there are fleas here! Last Monday? I woke up with two bites. This may be the fleas. Because the roads are twisty turns and inclined? it is dangerous to not blow the leaves away. This resort does not blow their leaves ONLY at the entrance. My sister's husband couldn't get up the last twisty turn because the leaves were wet and would make the car skid. WHAT!? he could've been injured. Could you imagine if he went down the hills with his car!? NOT coming back until an upgrade has been completed.

We have been a member here since 1986. Although it is showing it's age, the place is clean, quiet, and for the price, you can't beat it. We did have an issue with the fridge leaking and the manager sent someone immediately to fix it.We haven't had any issues with trouble makers, noise, etc. Give it a chance! Alpine Crest Resort is an old resort, but well worth the peace and quiet you get to recharge the ole batteries!!!

The units are very nice on the inside but the building maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. The outdoor wood on the stairs and patios is old and cracked and seemed a little dangerous. Helen is a great area to visit but be prepared to do a lot of walking as parking is very scarce. Would still come back to this area again but probably would not stay at this complex. If you are visiting the area, make sure you go to Anna Ruby Falls. Totally breathtaking!

Currently staying at the Alpine Crest, we checking in Friday the 21st and were only then told that the pool, that is advertised as being open year around due to it being an indoor pool, is closed due to construction to replace the ladder handles but should be open with that night or by Saturday the 22nd. Today is the 24th and still no pool. All of the other amenities advertised are not usable either, the walking path is overgrown and pavement is busted and unsafe but unsafe areas are painted yellow to alert you of the upcoming danger, is completely covered in grass amd or mud in some spots, the swings are broken and grown up so you cant access them., the playground is covered in spider webs, egg sacs and spiders; however it does appear that they attempted to control the bug problem by slinging white powdered pesticide all over the playground equipment, which makes me not want to let my 3 year old who still puts her hands in her mouth play on it, try explaining that one to the 3 year old. The club has is closed also haven't really been given a solid reason behind that so you cannot access the pool tables or games. Yes I contacted 2 members of management at this resort yesterday I left 1 voicemail and still haven't had a call back, I got through to another and was assured they were working very hard to get it open, well my husband had been down beside the pool everyday fishing in the river and we have yest to see anyone working on the pool since Friday night right after checkin. I was told I would get a call back to let me know when it would be open and as I type this I still haven't heard back. Very disappointed is an understatement I have 2 children who just want to swim in the pool and I would like the hot tub and clubhaus, booked this based on the website information so thought I should share more accurate information.
