I had a big block Cadillac V8 crank that needed some rod journals ground. When he was done the entire crank looked better than new. Really solid work at a very reasonable rate.Later on I took in an aluminum Honda 4 cylinder that needed heads resurfaced and cylinders honed. Excellent work and excellent customer service once again. I ve been impressed enough that I ll be bringing future projects in to this shop. The owner really knows his stuff, does quality work, and treats you right.

I recommended this place to a friend, after my previous employers have had quality work done here. I was under the impression that this place did good work, at a good price, and on time. I was just informed that the opposite took place. Carroll's had my buddy's engine in their shop for around 2 months and didn't call him one time to update him on pricing, or give him any info on what the progress was. The 'work' that they charged him for was sloppy (cleaned parts were NOT really cleaned) and overpriced. The extremely arrogant attitude of the owner didn't help. Will advise people NOT to go here ever again!

I've used Carroll's on multiple occasions for engine rebuilds and other smaller jobs. The owner, Dave, is super knowledgeable and is more than willing to answer questions - he seems genuinely interested in helping you solve problems or fix whatever you are working on, rather than charging you as much as he can. Their prices are more than reasonable and the work they do is high-quality.

The owner is extremely knowledgeable on everything he does. Staff is highly skilled and helpful. I would choose Carroll's over any other shop in town immediately. If you want quality work, this is your spot.

Had David come out seen the long block and it had racing aluminum connecting rods. 2yrs later pull the pan ,no aluminum connecting rods.Boy they got me good.His price is good work is good. JUST CHECK YOUR PARTS WHEN TJERE DONE.

David took in my flywheel for resurfacing. Got a call the next morning that it was done. When I picked it up the price was right and the thing looked brand new! The staff was friendly and took the time to let me know I need to clean the thin oil residue off when I install it to avoid slippage. Very happy! Will return if I need anything else in the future!

These guys ruined my 4.2L Audi V8. After asking them countless times if they have experience with and feel comfortable working on an engine that has aluminum cylinder walls, they went ahead and honed like it was a steel sleeved block. Consequently, the cylinder walls were beyond repair, which is why I was forced to purchase a new engine. It seems like these guys don't know what they are doing unless its a traditional 1970s american steel block. They can't handle anything that is more advanced/high-performance.In addition to them ruining my block AND charging me over $200.00 for the lousy work they 'did' do (the things they 'cleaned' were NOT clean), they never bothered to give me a call on the status of my engine, they never called to give me prices for what they were doing, and they didn't do the work on time. The owner, a very arrogant guy, even had the audacity to throw my parts (which were in various boxes scattered around his unorganized and dirty shop) onto the pavement in front of the shop. He literally threw my parts on the ground. I asked him why and he replied, "You should have payed more." This guy is a joke!The only reason they are still in business is because dealerships around Athens still bring in their repeat business. I know, because I work for one of those dealerships. After all of this went down, I spoke with some techs at the shop. It was no surprise to them that Carroll's work was sloppy. Should have talked to them first. Stay as far away from this place as possible!!!

Love the staff here, they have built two engines for me and really know there stuff. I have had them do two turbo cars blocks, one american block, and one from a 90's Mitsubishi that is known to be tricky to build. Both are perfect.

Absolutely wonderful work! The machinists are kind and are always willing to help which only makes this place better! Will go again if I need another hone / bore for my motorcycle cylinder

The kind of look you in the eye and engage customer service that is becoming far too rare these days. Work was done when they said it would be, and the price was more than fair. I only had a flywheel ground, but I will go back for future machine work without hesitation.

My husband has a big block chevy. Carroll has done work on it before and did a good job, but that was 18 years ago.This time my husband called and talked Carroll many times over months waiting for Carroll had time to get to it.Finally Carroll said bring it, I have time now. My husband took the motor, that was put together the next day. A week later carroll ingormed him he got it tore COMPLETELY down. Well that seems lile things are getting started, but nope not this time.My husband called Carroll every week or two to check progress. Motor was not touched at all after tearing it down.If we were in Athens for other things and just stop by to see how it was going, Carroll would be coming out door leaving and couldn't even talk or was not there at all. This whole time his shop had plenty of motors to be worked on.After four months of excuses and being avoided, my husband went and picked up his motor. Needless to say it was still tore down and had to be put in many boxes to bring back home. And Carroll charged $400 for that. How can a reputable business do that much less to a customer they have done m any motors for?We know mechanics that knew our motor was at Carroll's and they had one of their customers motor at same time and got put off just as long or longer. That makes the mechanics look bad and it isn't their fault.If you are thinking of using Carroll's engine rebuilders,all I can say is good luck, hope you have plenty of time and patience. And it wouldn't hurt to say a prayer that he does get your motor done.We never thought we would have had any problem with Carroll boy were we fooled. And it wasnt going to be some little cheap build, it was going to be an expensive build.Now we have to find someone to put the 402 back together.BUT we did get a motor from Blueprint engines. And will never recommend Carroll's to anyone and if asked about him we will give them the truth!!
