03/02/24These high ratings are from friends and relatives. THEY TRULY ARE SCUM THIEVES02/16/24 Dept of agriculture involved now over their FRAUD. Tells you all you need to know, even though Rodney acknowledged the FRAUD in his review, he has failed to refund new battery ..had the one I bought been new, wouldve/should've had 36 mo warranty according to ACDELCO...so they would've had to replace it. Fraudsters. Most unprofessional, thieves, who have SCAMMED many I bet. I'd NEVER take a vehicle there.2/6/24Watch for the FRAUDSTERS to answer to the news channel. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.Update1/31/24They won't respond to the BBB. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS1/31/24Again, as Spencer's normal, they lied to the BBB. Once, I had battery done elsewhere, stopped to get my refund, AND TAMMY PROMPTLY CALLED POLICE ON ME? HMMM, but Rodney said he "wanted to do the right thing". THIEVES, FRAUDSTERS**Warning** they committed FRAUD! Dept of Ag involved.You weigh 400 lbs, I hardly think you need to worry about me. You are a liar, said I was talking to Tammy's husband's brother. You can tell how UNPROFESSIONAL you truly are by your "soooo professional response". We'll let dept of agriculture decide.1/3/24 Owner contacted me via text after refusing to discuss w me unless it was by phone. I do not trust them and declined it. He then texted in evening he wanted "to do the right thing" but he wanted me to remove this review. I agreed to remove about battery but not about Tammy. Said he would come to my home and replace battery. Today he changed that, told me he felt "threatened " by me and would only do "the right thing" if I, with failing lungs, and no car, brought battery to him. I refused. They are UNETHICAL, so unprofessional and thieves. He told me he would come "if I changed my attitude". Is the kind of place you want to spend your money?So I wasn't ever gonna report why I'd NEVER go to these thieves, but after my battery dying, swelling after they INSTALLED IT WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME UNTIL I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR, after having a used engine put in. The first engine I ordered came in broken. So Tammy, offered to call around places. She called greenstar, (I didn't know, whom she called) and said it was the only one and it was $2050, just for engine. I said, I can't afford that, and that I'd call around. After a few calls, I happened to call grrenstar..he said "oh yeah, Tammy just called about this engine" he quoted me $1350. So Tammy tagged an additional $700 on just the engine. I bought that engine. So that was $1400 total. I was then charged extra fees, trying to make up that $700 I guess. They also put a 1 year old battery in my car, with a "supposed 18 mo warranty". I NEVER ok'd a battery, and didn't have the extra money for that, and my friend who standing right there, zelled me the money. I asked why tbey put a battery in and her dude said "oh it was really bad". Again, i never approved it. And now, I am extremely sick, doing infusions every Monday and these OUTRIGHT THIEVES WONT DO ANYTHING. Date of sale was May 14th, 2021. Picture is the battery they put in my car. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Double check...that's why I would never go there. So now, I'll contact an bbb, and report them to dept of agriculture. And when I picked it up after 2 weeks, once they got 2nd engine, I drove it, immediately and went back, because engine light was still on, spanky said "oh its nothing, it's a dummy light" after I spent $1680.93 with them and $1400 for engine. Thieves!!!!! Tammy, I have my receipt. They committed FRAUD by installing a 14 mos old battery as new. These people are UNETHICAL, UNTRUSTWORTHY, LAW BREAKERS and DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS.

I was having a random no start and random stalling on my 16 f150. Ford couldn t figure it out and no other shop wanted to touch it cause the problem wasn t persistent. Rodney took on the challenge and figured out the problem and did a fantastic job. He also disabled my auto start/stop feature at my request. I can t thank him enough. Rodney and w.j are Great people and have been turning wrenches their entire life. I highly recommend Spencer s auto group.

New to the area I found Spencer's by reading reviews. I'm so glad I did. They did an amazing job on my Nissan Frontier rear brakes. The price was better than the 3 other locations I called. They responded quickly, had it in the next day and fixed that afternoon. Thank you Tammi (y) best wished on the birth coming up.

I took my bmw to 3 different mechanics spent 100s of dollars for it to still not run properly . Spencer fixed it the right way and it s running like it s brand new . Thank you so much .

Thank you Spencer s Auto for all the work you have done on my cars over the years. You do great work and I also appreciate the fact that you test drive my cars to find out any problems and after you fix my cars I appreciate you test driving them again to make sure the problems are fixed. I have recommended you to family and a bunch of people and no one has ever complained about the work you have done. I will continue to recommend Spencer s Auto to anyone that asks . Spencer s Auto did an excellent job on our new to us used vehicle. Outlined any and all issues needed addressed with their level of severity. The repairs did not to long and was not too pricy. Omg! I brought my car into Spencer s Auto Repair because my break lights wouldn t turn off. I knew due to research and an amazing father in law that it was the sensor. They gave me the estimate and founds another problem (something I kind of figured) in a very timely manner, but had to order a part. Communication was on point but the part wasn t coming in. Part finally came in late day today and Rodney stayed late to finish my car today! This shop is the kind of shop I m willing g to spend my hard earned money at. Very professional, honest, an best price in town. I will not take my car anywhere else. I have been doing business with Spencer's Auto group for 18 years. The service and professionalism is great. Don't be afraid by reviews like Susan Shroud's, Spencer's Auto group is the best that's why I travel an hour to bring my car to them. They have never done me wrong in 18 years and I will continue to use them for all my car care needs.

Don't ever go to Spencer's Auto group in Tavares Florida to get your vehicle fixed ever. Shady people driving my personal vehicle for their personal use not to just check it out to make sure it got fixed and also wouldn't let me make sure the work was complete before I paid them I had to pay cash first then they finally took it out of their lot after they had it blocked in and then they let me check it out I will never ever go to that place again beware.I did not threaten his wife and I did not ask to test drive, I asked to make sure repairs were done and was denied until payment was made. Tell the facts !!!Also, thanks for breaking my center console, it was NOT broken when brought in. I have been using Spencer's for years. They are a wonderful, family owned and operated local business. You'll find them to be fairly priced, highly competent and sweet people to deal with. My Mother-in-law took her car to Spencer's auto group Repair shop in Tavares. One week later and almost $300 and car has not been diagnosed properly! They were told that the car needs to be done by noon today 11-2-2022 and it's still sitting on the lift not put back together. If your looking to get overcharged for diagnostic's and not getting a diagnosis for a week then go here! If you value your hard earned money and looking for proper business practices then I suggest looking elsewhere for auto repair work. I feel they are taking advantage of a little old lady.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

They saved me THOUSANDS by being knowledgeable and honest. I m so grateful to have a working A/C again and I didn t have to replace the entire unit as another shop had told me. Car wasn't idling correctly, it was figured out by Rodney, he was able to figure out the cause was the mass air flow, cleaned it out and now it's working great! finally a mechanic shop that knows what they are doing! love finding a place like this cause i know they will take the time and put all the effort in, into getting the job done the first time. They used to be a good and honest business. I took 2 of my cars there and had good experiences. Now after being a faithful customer for years I felt they only wanted to rob me. They wanted to charge 100 just to look at the problem when it was only a simple belt. 100 dollars is even more than they charged for an hour of labor and this was only to look at it. Needless to say I took my vehicle to a shop in leesburg with great reviews were he looked at it for free only taking 1 min of his time to inform me my belt was very bad and only charged me 60 in total for parts and repair. To Spencer's shop reviews matter. Loyalty matters. You should treat your customers better. We are more than cash in your pocket. Get some morals and go back to being a hometown shop people can trust now your just another dishonest scammer in my book and I will never send more business to your door.

It has been a true pleasure doing business with the Spencer's! they swapped out my old failed transmission with a new used one and the car runs better than it did before! shifts perfect and smooth. Totally honest, friendly, hard working people. I'm Glad I was able to find them. I don't think I would have rather done business with anyone else. I will definitely be back for some more work I need on my cars. 5 STARS*****

Tammy and Rodney are the best. Tammy came to my rescue on the side of the road when I had a flat tire put on my spare and help keep me a new tire. I would highly highly recommend Spencer's out of group any day :-)Service: TiresService: Tires

This is a great shop in Tavares. They had my car for a couple of days and I got it back earlier than expected and has been running perfectly since. Will definitely be returning for any future repairs.

You can t judge a book by its cover and you really shouldn t judge this place ether. This is a mom & pops family owned and operated automobile repair shop. This place is not like the dealership or one of those corporate box repair locations. This place is like bringing your vehicle to a trusted family member because that is the way I felt after my very first experience with them.They were upfront about the diagnostic fee if we chose to take the vehicle somewhere else.I used to take my vehicles to the dealership or a corporate box repair location for everything. Then I smartened up after I learned about how they work. With this vehicle I did what I always do and took it in to the dealership or a corporate box repair location for an issue. They had my vehicle for 2 days and said to start with we will need to replace these parts for $600 approx. and see if this fixes the issue if not we will have to try this next for $xxx amount.Has that ever happened to you or does that sound familiar?During the two days of waiting I searched and asked for an honest reliable mechanic that has ethics. This place here came up over and over on almost every inquiry and question I asked. So I decided to give them a try and let me tell you I am so blessed that I did.They found the issue and had it repaired in a couple of hours with a great price and no games.If you have more money than sense take your vehicle to the dealership or one of those corporate box repair locations and maybe get a dishonest opinion and lose your money over and over again.Now if you have more sense than money then I highly recommend this place if you want to treated with respect dignity and honesty.

I am really love this place. I am a high school student and have my own vehicle. i take my vehicle there and am always treated fairly. Rodney is probably the most honest mechanic I have met. Before I found him I hated when something went wrong with my vehicle because it was so expensive for any repair! Rodney is always honest he even told me that it would be better for me to trade in my old car because I was spending too much on repairs. Telling me this was not in his best interest he could of benefited from my piece of junk I was always fixing. Got a new suv and he will be the one I take it too and I will recommend his shop to everyone!

Brought my BMW in for an oil change and was very happy with the services rendered. I recently moved from Orange County and the prices at Spencer s are well below what I m used to spending for service. I was in and out and on my way, making for very convenient experience.
