Pre-paid for a standard SUV 31/2 weeks before my trip to TPA! Flight scheduled to land at 13 40 so I reserved for 1430! Check in at the counter seemed fine, but once I went to the pickup area my name was not on the board and there were no cars in the pickup area only people confused about the process to physically pick up their cars! I inquired about my rental car status with the employee inside the little office! He was overworked and rude AF! He said the problem was that I had made my reservation for 1 pm and not 2:45 ! I tried to show him my rental information AND PICKUP TIME, but he wouldn t even look at my documentation! He told me to go to the line in the Gold area and wait for a car! It was like the wild wild west! I have NEVER seen such a piss poor excuse for business operations than what I witnessed at pickup! I finally got a SUV, but it was a 2021 Nissan Rogue, which is a step down from what I paid for, it had 47800 miles on it, and had been rode hard and put away wet! There were scratches on the bumpers, was filthy inside, and stains on the seats! I have never seen a car rental company hold on to a car for 4 years! I return it in the morning and will update my review after that!

Take the Airtrain to Hertz - every 4 min from the baggage claim area - there was a big line but if you have a preferred status, head directly to the park to find your name and the assigned spot. The car (upgraded!) was nice with the key and the contract with the name so no chance of making a mistake. Hoping for a quick exit, but there were some glitches and took a bit longer. Overall a great experience though despite my anxiety to exit quickly.

I put four stars because still I did not get acknowledged my early dropped off (3.45am) before opened the place(6.00am). Other than that this is the best rental experience I ever had. I like to recommend this place for those who will rent in future. I will upgrade to five stars, if I get acknowledged the drop off with in 48 hours. (Received the return recipt. Thank You)

Beware these guys are dishonest thieves!1 star because I can t give zero stars. I should have known when I got in the car and it was dirty that it was not going to end well. When picking up the vehicle, the agent asked if I wanted to add on their insurance which I denied. He pushed again to add it, which I again denied. I told him no several times. He printed the agreement for me to check and then took it back and asked me to sign the pad. He said there was some glitch and to hang on. He quickly got it figured out and I signed it. I did notice a charge on it and asked when he assured me that it was my hold fee for the reservation and that it would be refunded when my car was returned. Well come to find out he had in fact added the insurance did not tell me and I now have an extra $140 fee on my credit card. Hertz Customer Service claims it cannot be refunded because I agreed to it. To be clear I DID NOT approve the charge.I also recall him making a big deal of showing me my agreement and then reprinting it for my record once I signed but did not give me the copy I had initially read through.I never add the extra insurance when I rent vehicles and have no plan of ever changing that.I believe he added the charges after he told me the computer was struggling as I waited to sign the agreement. He also proceeded to tell me that I could prepay for the toll pass and it would be $15 a day or I could just do pay as you go and be billed later. He said this would be a flat rate of $9 to the entire day if I used the toll road. I chose the pay as you go option since I had no plans of using tolls. I did mistakenly go through toll roads on the first two days and assumed there be an additional $18 charge. Unfortunately it seems this booking agent lied to me more than once because I now have another change on my card for $33.97 and no receipt to show me why other than it was toll charges.This agent and company is dishonest and has horrible customer service.I will never use them again!

Buyer Beware of Using Hertz Rent a Car. The process of renting a car was fine. Their personnel was fine as far as renting. But when we returned the car which has a few paint dings on it (and that I had pictures of before we left their rental lot...we always take a video or pictures of the entire car, which we recommend highly), there was one man working, pointing to where we should return the car. We put it where he said to and he told us to leave the keys on the dash which we did. I asked him to please walk around the car with me to see that everything was fine but he said, "No, just leave the keys on the dash," and walked away from us to get to the next car waiting. Six days later we got an email saying there was damage on the car (I think a small paint chip) and they wanted my insurance information. No one will return our calls, and they sent us a no-reply request for insurance information so they can bill my insurance company for damage we never incurred. This is now the second time in a row we've had a bad experience with the Hertz. The first time, we got a car with a tire that had a slow leak that went flat and they wanted to charge us for it! We've don't have these kinds of problems with anyone else. This is the last time we will ever use Hertz. And after experiencing them trying to totally automate their problem solving, I say "BEWARE!"

Was a bit concerned after seeing some of the reviews. I m grateful to report that I found none of it to be true! Checking in was seamless and took less than 2 mins. Friendly staff, REALLY efficient facility, great selection. Got a brand new Malibu with less than 1000 miles on it. Return was hassle free as well. Great work Hertz team!

We recently rented a car from Hertz at Tampa International Airport, and I must say, the experience exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, Hertz provided excellent service, making my trip seamless and enjoyable.The staff at the Hertz counter were incredibly friendly and efficient. They greeted us and swiftly processed our reservation. The vehicle we rented was clean, well-maintained, and exactly what we needed for our trip. The checkout process was very quick and hassle-free. Upon returning the vehicle, the Hertz staff once again impressed me with their efficiency. Our experience with Hertz at Tampa Airport was nothing short of exceptional. I highly recommend Hertz to anyone in need of reliable transportation during their travels. Five stars all around!

I would certainly not rent at this location, even if you are a regular Hertz customer:1. The rental was not ready at the reserved pickup time. We had to wait an hour in a lobby of irate customers before getting our vehicle. (The staff member that assisted us at the counter was nevertheless friendly.)2. We were not provided with a rental agreement upon receipt of the vehicle. (The car itself was clean and without problem.)3. At return, we came during posted business hours, but the return area was not staffed. We did not receive a receipt upon return.4. We later received $70 in charges for an unlimited toll pass that we didn t want, charges that were not explained to us in advance.5. We returned the car with a full tank of gas. We have a picture of the gas indicator at full on return. Hertz charged us $18.19 for refueling of 2 gallons. This charge was false and possibly fraudulent. (Hertz has since refunded but provided no explanation why this was charged. Is this a systemic issue at this location? Not clear )We have been Hertz loyal customers for over 20 years with almost no prior complaints. This rental experience has shaken our confidence in using Hertz.We have previously reported these issues to Hertz and have not received an explanation for these failures.Hertz should review management procedures at this location for quality failures.In short, I would certainly not rent at this location, even if you are a regular Hertz customer.

First, it doesn't make sense why I have to check in online first, to still then have to wait in line to check in again at the airport. During the second check-in my charges increased by over $200 with additions I did not want but were explained to be either free or severely discounted. Lastly, with the style of car I was upgraded too, there was only one that matched the description and it's maintenance required status was on. It was impossible to report this through the final check-in where I couldn't upload any pictures of issues. Enterprise is always great and I will go back to using them.

I was inclined to write a review after seeing a lot of negative ones before booking. I had a great experience - do yourself a favor and download the Hertz app so you don't have to wait in line and go straight to the garage to get your car. The agent gave me a choice of cars to pick from and we got a brand new car with less than 500 miles on it. Very easy pickup and dropoff, didn't need to plan for more than 15 minutes extra time to drop the car off. I recommend them! They have a huge selection of cars

BEWARE- Excessive undisclosed charges, was 30% of my total bill. I gave them an opportunity to correct, they just sent me a copy of their rules and thanked me for the business. Beware, using their site, numerous fees are not explained until you return the vehicle and have the bill emailed to you.Here are the charges:Concession fee recovery $44FF surcharge $4Vehicle license fee $13Customer facility charge $47Motor vehicle lease tax $17That is a $13 per day toll fee, over seven days and I went through two tolls, but was told there were many tolls that I would have to drive through. Very misleading for total of $87.@hertz

DO NOT USE this company!! I would put negative stars if it was an option. They are completely unethical. I booked and pre-paid for a rental car with a fixed rate, where it clearly stated in the email that this price was guaranteed. When I picked up the rental, my credit card was charged again for 3x the rate without my approval and just sent an email that the same rental was now 3x. When I called to resolve no one answered. When I submitted a claim on their website, I provided the original email and the second email and they said they had no record of the original email and would not refund me. Needless this to say this is completely unethical and Hertz has lost a customer for life and hopefully more as a result of this review, which they deserve.

We booked our car through a third party website, when we booked it was showing a larger SUV, when hertz sent us confirmation it was showing a chevy equinox. Upon getting to hertz at the airport we knew we needed the bigger size for the 5 of us with our luggage. The gentlemen at the counter immediately fixed it for us to make sure we got the correct car, his name was Kevin and he was great, thank you kevin! we will be back with hertz next trip here (we come here frequently)

The customer service at Hertz Tampa has been top of the line. I had an issue with one of the vehicles they rented me, which had to be exchanged along our trip.Upon return of the vehicle, the lead agent Zelda, along with the mangers Greg and Edward were extremely professional in understanding my issue and addressing all of my concerns. They quickly resolved all of my issues and assured me they would take care of any of my future needs.Thank you all for representing Hertz in such a positive manner.

I rented a Tesla Model 3 for my trip to a wedding. When I arrived at 7:19 am for pickup, there wasn't a single Tesla available. The Gold counter gentlemen said they were no longer available. That I was not informed in advance that this location was no longer upholding their Tesla rentals due to a "recall" is a significant problem because this didn't allow me to make timely and necessary changes to my reservation in advance. This gentleman said I could choose any other e-car in the electric aisle. Unfortunately, the Electrify America charging network isn't as prominent as Tesla's. Based on the Third-party charging app provided, the arrival to my destination promptly and safely wasn't possible, nor could any staff give me guidance on using the app. After waiting in line in the Gold area for the third time that morning, I explained my issues and requested a gas vehicle. I was told by the female manager I would have to pay $15-a-day upgrade charge instead of the typical $30. At this point, I was frustrated as it was well past 8 am so I made the switch. However, when viewing the vehicles with this "upgrade", they did not have as many features as the Tesla I originally reserved. For this issue to be resolved I had to go upstairs nowhere near the garage, get in another long line, all to track down this female manager because the gentleman in the Gold area couldn't help. On the upside, Kevin at the upstairs counter (not a manager) was helpful and quickly got me into a vehicle that matched the features of my original vehicle, but I still had to pay for the increased rate, which was ok. However, I didn't leave until 9:18 am. This experience was inconsiderate of my time. Also, being an Emerald Aisle Member with National, I've never had as poor service/experience as this experience with Hertz-Gold Member.

I could not be more grateful for the service I received at the Hertz counter today. Kevin was calm, kind and patient. I also observed another colleague there who was also incredible with customer service.The experience was fast, efficient and fair. This location alone has encouraged me to become a loyal customer. My car was fully paid online already but I forgot my matching credit card, they refused to use another credit card for accident coverages. I tried to reach out t customer service on phone , after 1h30 and many people talking to me, they never managed to register other credit cards I had with me. I am legally allow to use another credit card but Only solution proposed was to make another contract costing 300 dollars more than original one and hoping to get a refund for the car I paid and didn t get. The car I booked and was confirmed by email was not even available ( Tesla ) , and so far customer service has refused to do refund , I lost 1.100 dollars.

Really really bad experience I never had from hertz before ,when I go to the hertz counter,I gave my driver license to the black man ,and that black man gave me the receipt . But the information not match ,I booked 4 days rental ,he gave me 2 days fully insured car, I told him. I didn t buy any insurance ,my bank card they covered primary insurance ,that black man said. Oh. I don t care ,that is not my things, and when i found the receipt name is not me. I just told him. The whole process time he with a black lady laugh at me,this is not service,so rude and ridiculous. No more hertz ,so disappointed.

I recently rented a vehicle from the Tampa Airport Hertz; it was an easy and seamless process. Fafa, who was working the front desk was very helpful and answered all of my questions. She also recommended places to eat/ things to do in the area during my stay. 10/10 experience!

Do not ever rent from here for peace of mind. We got an EV and it had barely enough miles to get us to our hotel (20%, we have a picture for proof). No one checked when we were leaving and we didn t realize until half way through. Additionally there were no chargers that were close to us and my husband had to drive around for hours looking for a place to charge. What a nightmare especially on vacation! They did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. Oh and we are presidents circle members. What a joke. Terrible location and do not ever recommend anyone to rent from this place. They treat customers terribly-even ones with the highest status available!

After a long day of travel, arriving at Hertz Tampa was like a breath of fresh air. The efficiency and organization of the fully staffed location immediately caught my attention, providing a smooth and hassle-free experience that was much needed.What truly set this Hertz location apart was the streamlined exit process. With all exits open, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I could leave the center, just minutes after my arrival. Had a reservation for a Tesla Model 3, paid in advance two weeks ahead of time, but when I got to TPA Airport they would not take my credit card. They said there are two credit cards they don t take and I had one of them (even though they had already charged it). I offered them a debit card, but was told they don t take debit cards if I live in the area! If I had been traveling into TPA they could have taken it really? What a ridiculous policy!! I used to be a Hertz Gold member, but it has lapsed and I can assure you that I won t be using Hertz anytime soon! I walked over to SixT who was happy to take my money. They even matched my rate from Hertz and provided my a very nice BMW 5 series!

Customer service is appalling! We dropped off the rental and as we were entering the airport realized I forgot my wallet in the trunk. Ran to ask them to allow us to retrieve it, found out they use a third party dealer to clean the cars "off site" and it was immediately taken there. I asked that they contact the business to inform them we would pay to have it retrieved. REFUSED. "Not my job". Put in a claim, directed to wait to see if my wallet was found (in location I gave them with details). Nothing.The vehicle we rented was not the problem at this HERTZ location. Customer service horrendous.

I got up-charged about $110 more than original reservation due to the addition of liability insurance at the check-in process without any discussion. I accepted other charges such as loss and damage wavier and skip and pump which I originally signed up for. In fact, those two charges were discussed during the check-in process. However, liability insurance was never mentioned during the check-in process nor signed up during the reservation. I talked to customer service after two attempted calls and long waits. Customer service said they will give a partial refund and I have to call back in 3 to 5 days to get the answer for the rest of refunds!!! I have to tell you it was quite challenging to get even partial refund. More importantly, I do not get it why follow-up cannot be done instead of me trying to reach them. As we all know, it is not quick to reach them through the phone call. Truly, it is the last thing I want to deal with after the vacation.

One of the easiest rental services I ve ever experienced. Pro tip: Download the Hertz app, sign up to be a member, check in online prior to picking up: requires your drivers license and credit card, walk to your car and drive away. I didn t have to wait in line or be haggled for add-ons.

Had prepaid for a vehicle . After 30 hours of travel we arrived at hertz Tampa airport location to pick up the car. Were told we couldn t take the car because we only had a debit card? They accept debit cards after a credit check and even in their phone waiting service say they accept debit cards. They actually said at the desk that it would be too much hassle for them to sort it out . No attempt to smooth the situation out or help us . Don t bother giving your money to this company when they can t even help you after you ve in effect paid their wages. AVOID

Scam Alert!!! No one was able to provide me with a receipt (outside at drop off location or inside at the Hertz counter) then was charged a $400 cleaning fee for smoking I ve never smoked a day in my life!!! Beware!! Do not rent from this location! Of course can t contact anyone shameful!

No car seats available to my clients who had 2 car seats booked for their rental today - trying to call the location directly and it is not possible - the call just disconnects - hoping there is a way to get someone to contact us and offer an alternative solution.
