Not much to look at in the outside, but if you need your car repaired at a reasonable price Can Am motors is the place to go. They will repair the problem and not pad the bill with unnecessary repairs. Art has been there for forty or so years and Tony some 20 years. Both are master mechanics. If you happen to be a collector or have an older car they are great. If you have a newer car they are great. They have worked on various makes and models of my cars for years. I do not trust anyone else to work on my cars. A great neighborhood car repair shop located just off Fletcher Ave on the corner of 131st Street and Florida Ave.

I recently had some issues with my car and Can Am was recommended by a friend . Tony and his team repaired some major problems with my car in one day. Dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up by 4PM , repaired and ready to go. All at a reasonable price. I will definitely use them in the future for any problems that come 6and will highly recommend them as well

Art has been here for over 30 years. He has always been honest and trustworthy in everything that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. His prices are good and fair and he won't replace something unless it is absolutely needed.

I went to three Midas's including one i used to work at for an estimate and all the estimates were about 309 dollars. The owner beat every single estimate that I had gotten by asking me mechanical questions to find out what it actually needs and giving me the opportunity to let him know what i know. Normally a customer is treated with disrespect if they open their mouths and try to explain what their vehicle needs. They quoted me 170 dollars for my rear pinion seal and made me an appointment for the very next morning. I would recommend this place to everyone! Thank you for the awesome service and professionalism!

Square dealings here. No b.s., no trickery. Just honest people doing good honest work at a fair price.Edit to add: Just had more work done that I was going to do myself. Art was willing to even use the part I had already purchased elsewhere. He explained what the real issue was with my vehicle and being a shade tree mechanic I caught on to what he was telling me. Cost more but I'm happy to report his solution not only fixed my original issue but fixed one that I thought was unrelated. Five stars again.

I was referred to Art in the mid 1980's when I had a blown head on an Isuzu Pick-up. Art correctly installed a new head in half the time at half the cost of the dealership! I do my own small stuff but when I need an expert, I have taken my cars/trucks to Art since.Art has always:1) given a fair detailed estimate.2) I have never had to pay more that the estimate3) if the cost may be more than the estimate he will tell you prior to doing the work, give you the option to continue or hold off on the additional repair.4) the repairs are of quality of work and years of experience are top notch5) if he doesn't know something he will tell you, no BS I can fix anything just to get you in the door.Less expensive than the dealerships (low over head) and just as good of work and I am not being paid to write this!!!!

My timing belt broke on the highway recently. I had the car towed to Tires Plus and they wanted $600 just to replace the timing belt before they would check the engine for very expensive damage. I argued with them and told them you can check an engine for damage without replacing the timing belt. The manager said there is no way to check the engine for damage without the timing belt completely replaced. I disagreed and had the car towed to Can-Am instead. The owner Art took a look at it, checked the engine for damage without replacing the timing belt and told me I had two bent intake valves. He charged me $70 for the diagnosis and called it at that. He saved me $530 just to find out the engine was junked. He was very friendly and nice. I will definitely be back in the future for my auto repair business, because I know Art won't cheat me out of my hard earned money.

I very much like to support my local businesses but they told me I needed an expensive part for my vehicle that I later learned I did not. The difference in the overall time and costs to repair my vehicle was too great which is why I won't return or recommend this shop to anyone.

Art and his staff know what they are doing and they are honest and don't tell you that you need stuff done that you really don't need done. This is an honest mechanic you can trust. I have been taking my cars there since the mid 90s!

I KNOW that when I go to Art that he will patiently and clearly give me experienced, honest, money-saving advice AND GREAT, guaranteed SERVICE.Art always makes efforts to save me money: 1) he finds online the best available replacement part (price, guarantee, delivery speed) -- and 2) his prices for labor match, or are lower than, anything I hear from others who've had similar work. Can Am keeps its appointments and finishes work promptly. Suppliers trust and respect Art and deliver quickly to his shop. His assistant Tony is hardworking, pleasant, kind, sensible, and skilled. Everything Tony does is DEPENDABLE.Scroll down to read ALL of what "80th Division"'s review says, below. I, too, am not being paid to say: everything "80th Division" writes is TRUE about Can Am.

Art cheated me out of my money. Took car there for a problem that I was not sure about. I thought it was the starter, and asked him to replace it, but FIRST ascertain that it was INDEED the starter. He said "oh, he'll do that". Then a half hour later, Art's mechanic returned and announced that the new starter is in ($241), but it also needs a battery ($90 more!), because the problem was still there. RED FLAG. I raised the concern that the problem was likely just the battery, and Art said "oh no...the starter was bad too (when a mechanic gets it wrong, they always say this, another RED FLAG)..the bad battery killed your starter because it was 'arcing', which makes no sense. ANOTHER RED FLAG.Batteries don't kill starters. A battery can't put out more voltage than it has. It just can't. I said "arcing?..show me the arcing you're talking about". He said he has to take the cover off my old starter to show me. So I made him take the cover off. What I saw DID NOT look like arcing, I know what it looks like when metal arcs. Depending on the amperage, it would show pitting on the contacts. There was no pitting. It looked more like normal wear on the brush/contact end of the armature assembly. RED FLAG AGAIN.I thought 'this guy was lying to me and didn't check the starter at all'. So I took the old starter with me, and headed off to the battery place. I asked them if a battery could EVER kill a starter. They said no. They put in a fresh battery and the problem was solved. I then went home and took out the new starter and replaced it with my OLD starter, and that old starter? the one that Art said was bad from the battery, because of the arcing....? As I thought from the start: The old starter works fine, and this is a classic case of an unscrupulous, rip-off mechanic. It's proof to me that he lied. Art lied to me and told me my starter was bad..and it was really only the battery which was bad. Not the starter. I walked him into this, when I saw all the red flags, and proved that this guy took off a perfectly good starter, and charged me 241 dollars for another one. The problem was ONLY the battery. My old starter is still working just fine.Ripping off females is a typical mechanic's game..but I happen to know a little about cars and electric motors..which he didn't expect. Of course Art told me they tested it, to which I replied, then why did you put a new starter on? He replied that the didn't test it 'that' way and they don't take returns on electrical parts. I asked him, eh..well how DID you test it? He couldn't give me an answer, because he never tested it. He was with me the whole time talking in the office. He didn't ever go out and tell the guy to test it either. This man will schmooze with you, act all friendly, while he takes your money.Don't trust Can-am motors. I see very little business happening there (another red flag) and wonder how he stays in business. Angry.

Art quoted me a price for BMW work that was lowest in my area. I was a bit skeptical but he did the water pump, pulley replacement and serpentine belt within the time and price quoted. Will use his service for future work.
