It took me a while to leave a review here as I've been really busy once I got my car back from Hometown Auto Service.I have to say, wow, excellent job! I carefully read reviews of different places before deciding where to take my car. The only bad review I found here at Hometown was something like they took a week to get a car fix or that they were too full. That's not a performance failure for me. Good businesses today are extremely full and busy. I took the advice from someone who convinced me that if I could wait, I should bring it later to this place. So, I made an appointment right away for weeks later. I explained how my car was not shifting after replacing the two transmission shift solenoids. We service our own vehicles at home. A diesel duramax, a car, and three motorcycles. We like to buy either oem or good quality parts and to fix whatever is needed to extend the life of our machines, but this time, we didn't know exactly what was going on. We even found/read on the internet of someone who had the exact same problem after changing the shift solenoids but never mentioned a solution to the problem. So this time, we needed help from a transmission professional. I contacted a couple of other places where I could have left my car even sooner, but they sounded like a rip off about to happen. I decided to wait for Hometown Auto Service instead. I waited three weeks before towing my car close to my appointment date and then waited one more week to get my car back. I honestly don't regret it at all. I believe it was all worth it. The owner was honest and took the time to explain what he finally found the problem to be. The car is now running great. I'm very satisfied. There is no nonsense at this place and very reasonable repair cost too. I recommend this place, and I have them in mind for any other automotive problem in the future.

Super helpful. Quality work, and very reasonable price. I drove in during bike week and had a transmission line fail on the freeway 30 minutes outside of town. Pouring fluid to the point there was almost none left and the transmission struggling to move the car at even a moderate pace. I am a mechanic by trade, but being 4 hours from home with no resources to fix the problem myself I was in desperate need of a shop to help. Google lead me to Hometown Auto. I called up Friday morning to see if they had any time to inspect the problem. I was recommended to drop the truck off and they would get a look at it that afternoon. After lunch I received a call with a diagnosis and a quote for the repair cost. They were upfront with their prices, which were very reasonable, and had the problem sorted out by the end of the day. The folks at Hometown Auto did it right. Thanks to them. I was back on the road that night, and rolled home without any issue.Service: Transmission

This place is great!! I can't recommend them enough. It's very hard to find a good auto service shop when you move into a new area and Hometown was recommended to me by a friend. I knew I had to have some everyday maintenance done to my car, a small problem looked in to and hopefully fixed and some questions answered so I decided to make the appointment. Stephanie explains everything, gives you options and recommendations. They did everything I asked and more for a very reasonable price. Made notes about my car so they can refer back to them and keep track of things to watch out for. It was a pleasure having my car serviced at Hometown and I shall be going back there for them to "take care of my car" from now on. Very Highly Recommended.....!!!

Owner was polite and seemed honest but refused to install parts that weren't made by the car manufacturer as he claimed " There are too many junk parts out there " . This often translates to I want to be able to buy the part and mark it up on you but can't say for certain if that's the case with this shop. I don't really understand the rule if you simply tell the customer that you will not guaranteed performance if you supply your own parts and have them sign off as such. Seems to be better business than turning away folks. This place was back up for weeks to get in so they are obviously doing something right.

I will not take my vehicles to anyone else. Joe explains everything. EVERYTHING. He is incredibly honest about all work done to my jeep and 4 runner. Stephanie is always awesome and helps me any way she can. His prices are very reasonable and I always feel like I matter as a customer. I always share his info with my friends!

If you're looking for a knowledgeable honest mechanic these guys are AWESOME!!! They are car geniuses! And Stephanie in the front office is so nice, friendly and down to earth. I had a car getting repaired and decided to just trade in for a new one and these guys went ahead and fixed everything that was causing problems and only charged me for the one thing I wanted fixed. So AWESOME! Took my son's car there got it repaired A++ and the car got a scratch on a new bumper we just had painted and these guys paid another shop to repair and repaint the bumper damage. Wow!! They are the nicest people I love these guys!! They got a customer forever !! A++++

If you are in need of an experienced and honest mechanic, I highly recomend Joe and the whole team at Hometown. Had many questions and concerns about a car i had recently purchased. Stephanie took all the time necessary to explain it all and made sure all my concerns where put to ease. Great customer service combined with knowledgable and honest mechanics makes this the go to place if you need some answers about your auto issues. I was in a position with this new (to me) car that it would have been easy to take advantage but they treated me like a loyal and longtime customer right from the get go. Thank you again Stephanie and Joe!

Joe is the best transmission mechanic in Volusia County! Go there with confidence and be assured you're in good hands and don't have to worry about someone telling you need work done that's unnecessary like some other places.I highly recommend!

Needed a transmission filter change and pan gasket - and wanted a power flush. From the time I called to get a quote, I got the feeling Joe (owner) cares about giving his customers more than just a transaction. He knew my transmission model number by memory and told me all the common fail points during a typical 60k service. He spent time explaining to me why I did NOT need to do a full flush, which reduces his revenue. It is true what the reviews say - Joe is honest, honest honest. During the service, he showed me the dropped pan and walked me through every part of the process. He really cares about his work, and knows how to do it. GO here for honest feedback and work on your car!

Can not state enough on how well Iwas treated as a customer by this company. Excellent communication, service and pricing. Probably best car repair service i have experienced in this area by far. Special thanks to Joe who really took the time to deal with my questions, his patience and knowledge fixing a previous persons shabby work was truly above and beyond what you would expect. If your tired of getting ripped off or getting poor results on work done on your vehicle I highly recommend trying Hometown.

This place is a joke. I called for an appointed. They set it for Monday. I called then Monday morning to say I would be about 5 minutes late due to an accident. But i still got there 3 minutes early. When the lady at ther front desk told ther mechanic i was there. She told me it would be another hour. Because the mechanic was going to lunch. My thought is. If you set an appointment keep it. Then eat lunch

I drive a 2012 Mazda and am so happy when I leave their shop because I know they are very honest and do reliable work. Also the "PRICE IS RIGHT". I've taken my car in there when an oil change shop told me I needed something and Stephanie and Joe would dispute that. They have saved me money. What kind of shop does that? Another fact about them is that they will get your car very quickly. I've never had to wait long.I wish I would have met Stephanie and Joe at Hometown Automotive a long time ago. I've wasted so much money trouble shooting things before I found this wonderful shop. Thank you!!!!!!!!Cheryl R

Joe and Stephanie are knowledgeable, experienced, honest, and fair. I took my car to them, thinking that it might be time for new front brakes. Imagine my surprise when I received a call from Stephanie, telling me that the brakes are just fine! They were recommended to me by two people, and I am so pleased.

Came down for vacation went to grab some lunch and my car started acting up. After visiting several auto repair shops I was directed to Hometown Auto services. Upon entering there establishment I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile. Despite an absolutely booked schedule they quickly diagnosed my issue and squeezed me in when others around couldn t. I was not pushed to purchase more than I needed or up sold on pats or services. Saved us from a potential vacation disaster... I would highly recommend them to family friends, or anyone!!!

Recently, my Ford Explorer broke down completely with a blown head gasket and engine failure. Hometown Auto was able to quickly and effectively repair this major overhaul (including a transmission repair) in a week's time. Throughout the entire process, the staff were professional, realistic, and showed that they really cared for the work they did. They ensured that I was getting the product I payed for by double-checking every nut and bolt, with high attention-to-detail. I would highly recommend Hometown Auto to anyone in need of car maintenance or repairs.

Awesome Coustomer service. Great prices and quality work. Just slow or overwhelming busy. Taking a week to look at a transmission before even repairs are started. In my opinion is slow. I had the transmission rebuilt and back to me in this amount of time.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Could not recommend more. Our Chevy Astrovan broke down while on our 16 hour drive home, the day before New Years. After reading Hometown s reviews - we decided to bring the van in and we are so thankful we did. We were initially told they wouldn t be able to even look at the car until noon, but our van was completely fixed and ready to hit the road by 12:30pm. We are SO thankful for their diligent, honest, fast, and fair work, on a holiday no less. THANK YOU Hometown Auto!!! Because of you we were able to get home to our family in time for the Holiday!

The worst place! Had my sons car towed there in early July, only for it to sit there until last Friday August 25th, 2017 with an absurd diagnosis. When I called in early July to ask if they did work on the type of vehicle I had, they said yes, I told him what my issues were and he said I could have it towed there no problem. I told him I was not in a rush but I never expected it to sit there for over a month only to be put off week after week with no answer on what was wrong with my vehicle. Finally when they did get back to me , they said flat out it needed a new transmission and a plethora of other things. Over $5000 worth of work according to them needed to be done. I couldn't pour over 5k into a car that wasn't worth that so I wanted to get a second opinion. I can't tell you how glad I am that I got it towed to another Reliable, Honest Auto repair shop in Ormond Beach. I had it towed there Friday the 25th of August and by yesterday (Monday the 28th) they called me to tell me the car was DRIVING JUST FINE and they couldn't get it to act up the way I had described! I am utterly disappointed that Hometown Auto would try and get $5000 from a hard working honest American family like mine who just needed an honest diagnosis to get my sons very first car safe to drive to school everyday in port orange. Please don't go here if you need an honest diagnosis. You'll save yourself thousands or at least I did!Update: immediately following my honest review, the owner and mechanic Joe called me to explain what happened with my experience while my vehicle was there at his shop. Unfortunately poor communication is to blame for my unpleasant experience. Joe is a man of integrity and wanted to redeem himself by refunding my diag fee and allowing me to give him the opportunity to work on my vehicle. I have already placed my vehicle in the hands of another place I feel comfortable with repairing my sons vehicle . I wish things had gone differently because Joe seems to be a capable individual. Ultimately he was recommended to me by someone I trust in the Automotive industry, which is why I went to him. I did my research and saw all the glowing reviews about his service, unfortunately for me I did not get to experience what most have in the way of service with him. That's exactly what happened today.

After going to 2 different places to get my transmission checked and fixed I was getting a little frustrated. The 1st place a national chain took about 4 hours trouble shooting and could not figure out the problem. (they did not charge me though the way I was treated will probably not go back there) The 2nd place was a local Daytona transmission shop, they only took about an hour to tell me they could not find the problem but could replace the transmission for about $2,000.00. I searched the internet and found almost all good reviews on Hometown Auto. I called, made an appointment went there and was informed that I had a bad cluster box in the dash. (that was what he told me before trouble shooting he thought it might be) Made another appointment after the part came in, got it replaced and the problem was fixed. Total cost was $361.90, a lot less than what I would have paid for a rebuilt transmission and would have still had the problem.

Joe and Stephanie make a great team. They have worked on my company's vehicles, personal and my '67 Firebird. The work is professional, clean and on time. I am so glad to have a place I can trust with my cars in my community.

I had brought my 2008 535i BMW to Joe about 3 weeks ago. I called Joe on a Friday and explained that my car is in the shop some where else and AAA was going to charge me if i bring it home and then to his shop. I was referred by a BMW mechanic that i used. Mind you it was on a Friday, from Kissimmee to Daytona . I told Joe it will be after 5. Joe was very nice and told me to have the driver put the car in the front. I asked Joe if he can take a look at the vehicle in three weeks. Joe was short handed and he still said OK. I would refer any and every body to go see Joe for repair. His staff are the best....Thanks JOE

I have 2005 ram 3/4 ton. I am avid user of amsoil products. Hometown auto service carries and will service with this product. This truck has been on amsoil since the 1st oil change now with 225000 miles. The trans was rebuilt in 2016 at 175000 miles and amsoil was used. Just did a trans service at 225000 and everything is good. I was looking at transmission performance upgrades on a 48re Joe advised it wasn't necessary unless I was going to do a total rebuild to make all upgrades work together.. He could have just done what I requested and charged me for it. He didn't, I call that HONESTY. Not much of that around these days.

I strongly recommend Joe Ventura and Hometown Auto. Here's my story...I initially took my Dodge Durango to Daytona Dodge because my headlight was out. They charged me $150.00 and told me I needed an entire headlamp assembly for another $1,300.00. I then took my vehicle to Joe Ventura at Hometown Auto for a second opinion. Joe determined it was only the headlight and fixed it for less than $400.00. The light bulb itself cost $270.00 at the dealership so Joe only charged around $100.00 for all of his time. Joe saved me from getting ripped off for $1,300.00. He's an honest, great mechanic.Services: Engine repair, Air conditioning
