Aamco Transmissions is one of the best car shops I ve been too over the years. They re straightforward and honest all the way through. If they can t do it for a reasonable price within your budget, they go the extra mile to find someone who can or specializes in a specific niche of repair. Highly recommend them!

had my car being towed to their shop and have them to diagnose it but they did not even bother to mention that they had 30 cars to look into behind mines. They told me that it would be 1 week wait until they can look into my car, when 1 week went by, they added up other 2 weeks and suggested me to tow my car to other shop. Waste of my tow money and such a waste of my time.

I brought my jeep liberty into aamco transmission to have it rebuilt,they charged me over 5600 dollars.they had it for 3 weeks. I drove it 10miles,it fell out of gear at 55mph almost reving the engine to 6000rpm,then 2 miles further down the road I stopped at a red light ,it got stuck in 2nd gear and would not shift at all.it was worse off then when I brought it in..I bring it back a 2nd time..they now have my vehicle over 7 weeks and it's still not ready.. frank the manager gives me excuse after excuse that the mechanic is working on the issue,but the vehicle never moves from out back and nothing is done. Now I have to take them to court to get my money back. AVOID this repair shop or you will be ripped off and your vehicle will be there a long time.. zero stars rating from me.Service: Transmission

I had my truck brought in to this shop upon recommendation for a transmission pan gasket in April of 2021. Several weeks later I found that the pin that connects the shifter to the transmission was zip tied on and pan gasket never replaced and and still leaking. I called the corporate office to see if I could get some help with this, as I had to have my truck towed and a new shifter put in. This cost $789 out the door. Corporates response was that the GM planned to do nothing but invited me back to have the gasket looked at. The gasket job that never got done was close to $300. Corporate also would not give out the name of the owner. The whole place looks like a bunch of crooks. I still have to find a place to have this pan gasket done. I will not go back ever again. Less than 1 star.

Stay away I got my truck back worse after 5300$ for rebuilding transmission didn t work took it back they had it for almost another month and now is worse again and now check engine light is on I ll probably be suing soon if I can t get ahold of the owner and get refunded. Tomorrow getting it towed to REAL SHOP not a franchise of a known company whose corporate offices get paid from themService: Transmission

Bought a rebuilt transmission. It failed in less than a year. They replaced it under the 18 month warranty. The replacement transmission didn't shift right. They confirmed that it wasn't right, but the manager at that time said that they couldn't do warranty work unless it was throwing a computer code. Refused to have a technician look at it. Eventually I went to another transmission shop. It turned out that the shift solenoid installed by the re-builder, GPS Transmissions, was the wrong part. I replaced the solenoid with the correct one and now the transmission works properly. The new manager (they have had 4 different managers in the 18 months I have dealt with them) asked what it would take to make it right. I said $300, because that would cover most of my costs that I incurred diagnosing and fixing it myself. The new manager got back to me and said the owner never gives refunds, but he would offer me $200, because that is what the re-builder would pay them to fix the problem. I took the $200 because I have already wasted too much time and money doing a job they were paid to do. I hope the new manager can turn the place around, but he is fighting an uphill battle against an owner who will not empower him to take care of customers in an ethical manner. Owner's attitude is the customer is always wrong - even when there is unequivocal proof otherwise. Two stars because the new manager tried and got me 2/3rds of what I asked for.Service: Transmission

These guys said they could get me in quickly... 2 months later... and then they tried to charge me for things that didn't need to be fixed! I just replaced my whole brakes 7 days earlier, calipers pads rotors... they said I had a bad brake pad! Crooks! I brought it there for a rear end under warranty... really not good at fixing vehicles, I left and had a bolt missing from my shock strut and oil leaking from my brake calipers! Do your self a huge favor and steer clear of these clowns....

Frank is always so great with updates. Very reasonable pricing as well as a quick turnaround on a transmission replacement on a vehicle nobody else would work on!Talk about service. 10/10 I will recommend.

My advice is to stay as far away as possible from this place. I brought my transmission in and it is still leaking $3800 I paid total. Was told there was nothing we can do for you by their General Manager Rodger. The condition my car was left in is a whole other story. I was told by a mechanic friend that he never changed the oil pan gasket. And he won't cover the warranty. I'm seeking legal council in this matter.

The guys at AAMCO are amazing! Joey frequently called me to keep me updated on my vehicle and give me a peace of mind. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a new engine put in and it was done so quickly, two days after they received my motor my vehicle was done. These guys are efficient, knowledgeable and impressive! They definitely put their customers first and actually care and want to help you! Garrett was very helpful and knowledgeable. He stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process from our first phone call, through arranging a towing service, and ultimately diagnosing and fixing the issue. We wound up paying a lot LESS than anticipated too! He has advised me on our next steps to take for maintaining our engine and I feel confident that he will guide us well. Excellent service. Under new management with young knowledgeable staff managers and technicians. Clean facility with nice waiting area. Garrett is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the transmission business. Called me to update progress of my repairs. To all my fellow veterans Garrett and AAMCO honored a veterans discount and sincerely thanked me for my service. Veterans friendly company. Van runs like new, and they earned my trust. Very satisfied.

Horrible company lier through there teeth and I had a warranty to pay for eveything they gave me the run around and then lied over and over again then screwed me on timing they had my truck for 5 weeks and only fixed one thing left the rest off now im out thousands of dollars in repair because of there neglect and incompetent

Id like to just say first hand that Garrett provided me with excellent service. when I went in to get my car checked out He was super friendly and understanding towards me. He Answered all my questions and concerns about what was going on with my vehicle which made me more comfortable about the situation at hand . I came to the shop with my car making the most horrible noises. I spoke to Rock, and he told me he will have one of the mechanics test drive it and give me a diagnosis. The next call I received was about the diagnosis, how much it would cost and the lead time. Mind you - this was the day after Christmas - but Rock made it happen. I picked up my car at the time it was promised. My car was fixed - no more noises. Kudos to Rock - an excellent manager - but equally impressive is Luis, the mechanic.I have since recommended this shop to other people. It's so hard to find a repair shop worth trusting. I feel so lucky to have found this AAMCO location when I did. Thank you Rock! You're an excellent manager. You made me feel at ease about my car. You said you will fix it, and you sure did. I will only go to your shop going forward.

The Port Charlotte AAMCO has helped me with 4 transmission issues now (over many years and different vehicles). every time they have found and fixed my problems, explained what was needed and how long it would take. Their pricing is fair- but you are paying for a specialist not a general mechanic, and they've never tried to push me into extra work unlike many shops I've been to - looking at you tire shops.I do most of my own repair work for engine's, or electrical problems. But leave the transmission to specialist's. AAMCO is my specialist of choice. And definitely recommend this shop if you need transmission work done.

I can't say enough about our experience with AAMCO. First let me say that Rock was great, he is a very customer oriented manager. Our transmission needed to be completely rebuilt. Rock explained the problems and options in a plain no nonsense fashion. Once we got our car back it ran fine until we took it on an extended drive then a pretty serious problem arose. We called Rock and all he was concerned about was getting our car to the shop and fixed right. He was very sincerely concerned and very apologetic. Once they figured out the problem they fixed it no questions asked. A lot of places you go to would have found any way or reason to charge you again saying this was not covered in the work done. Not Rock he stood by his shops work and made it right. I will recommend AAMCO to any friends or family that need repairs without hesitation. The real measure of a shop is how they stand behind their work. Rock and this shop are second to none in this respect. I hope I don't need them again but if I do I will not hesitate to go back to this AAMCO again.

My gratitude goes to Frank. He sincerely impressed me with his compassion and concern for my car. He went above and beyond expectations to ensure not only my car was done correctly, but did it at an extremely reasonable rate. If it wasn't for Frank, i could have potentially spent far more if not even considering to purchase a new car. All my thanks goes to Frank for a great job well done and his caring and concern! Aamco was recommended by my usual mechanic for transmission service. At Aamco Chad was great to work with, explaining all options and pricing on diagnosing and rebuilding our transmission. We went with the local rebuild to save money over a factory remanufactured unit and are happy with the results. The van is driving smooth and we have the confidence to take long trips again. He even invited us to return after a couple of weeks for a free checkup to verify there were no leaks or other issues. Our trucks transmission started slipping we took it by Aamco and they had it running again in a couple of days, very fast service and polite young men who work there! A great big thank you! We made it back home, 700 miles away, without a problem!

The entire team was amazing and knowledgeable.I thought I had an issue with my transmission because of a noise and they found what the issue was. They immediately found the issue making the noise and they inspected my transmission and suspension. The professionalism of this staff begins with your phone call to Tom and continues with the teammates in the garage. They were on time and they accomplished what I needed in the amount of time they said.I will now keep a business card in the glove box.Services: Transmission, Air & cabin filter replacement, Air conditioning

Rock is the absolute best. I am always pretty careful about new shops, mostly because people tend to over charge young females with little car repair knowledge. My transmission blew and Rock did everything possible to fix it quickly and at a fair price. He walked me through the repair options and helped me choose the best one. My mechanic up north was blown away by the outstanding service and respect I had received even though the shop was well aware I had very little knowledge when it came to this repair and was quite desperate to get it fixed as soon as possible. My follow up visits to this shop were just a great, absolutely fair pricing and great work. Outstanding service all around.

I was referred to AAMCO by a friend since I was having transmission issues with my Chrysler Town and Country. I first spoke to James C. the customer service manager and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. He helped run a diagnostic check, and explained in detail what my options would be. I next met with Frank one of the technicians and he drove my vehicle with me and wanted to know the vehicle history and what I've been experiencing with it. He was very personable and listened as he ran more diagnostics. I could tell Frank was a transmission Doctor and is passionate about his work. My transmission was still functioning however, was randomly getting stuck in second gear. This made for a tricky diagnostic. They even went above and beyond the usual diagnostic and helped me not only possible figure out a first step fix that would save me $$ before just replacing the unit which would set me back thousands. I really appreciate mechanics who care about your situation and don't just immediately aim for your wallet. I was so impressed that they not only treated me this way, but I watched them treat another customer with the same commitment and honesty. I watched as James and Frank skipped lunch to help me and another customer. I felt so grateful that I bought a few Publix Chicken meals and some tea for the guys in appreciation. I hope you enjoyed it guys! Thanks for making a stressful situation less and being genuine and honest to the customer. Great work! A+

Our transmission failed during a road trip and we were in a very bad position, far from home. We towed our vehicle to Chad and his team who were extremely helpful, transparent and we were confident that our vehicle was in good hands. He was able to find the right replacement, with a solid warranty, and got the work completed in a timely manner, also at a fair price. We just drove the car from North Port to Chicago and Chad saved the day for us. Thank you and your team so much!

The manager Rock is top notch! I purchased an extended warranty several years ago and now my truck needs a new transmission. I was concerned but Rock assured me he would take care of everything. My truck is fixed and it was so easy new transmission and it cost me nothing. Even better news I found out that this AAMCO does all kinds of repairs so I will always check with Rock he is the man!

The manager, Rock, is phenomenal! Excellent customer service, honest, friendly and diligent! Took my car in for AC repair and an oil change and my car came out in tip top shape! I couldn't be more thrilled. I will be recommending all of my friends and family to AAMCO and Rock. Thank you!!!

They rebuilt my transmission in my Expedition and it hasn't ran this smooth since I bought it! They were easy to work with, informed me of every cost and Rock's customer service skills are top notch! Would definitely recommend!

I have a mobile pet grooming business, I was coming from a job and my transmission started shifting early and jumping around. I pulled into AAMCO to see if they could look at it. I spoke to rock, he surprised me by telling me he would check it out for nothing and let me know what was the matter with it. (2 weeks prior the truck had been in another mechanics shop 7 days strait, cost was $1500), I was very concerned that they would keep it a long time or look at it or want to rebuild the transmission. He caked me in a timely manner to let me know he would be able to fix the problem in a couple of hours and it would only be$200 bucks! I'm completely sold on the business I will never go anywhere else.

Rock is a great person! I had my transmission go. He showed me everything that was wrong with and got it back on the road in a responsible amount of time. The only hold up was miss communication with the insurance company. But Rock did do his part of the job and did a really good job at it. He is the only mechanic I will take any of my cars to. I finally found a mechanic in Charlotte County I can trust. Thank you Rock!!!
