Dewey's performed a preventive maintenance for me at 100,000 miles on 2003 Silverado. We moved to SC. Not having reliable shop like Dewey's here, only performed filter and fluid changes. At 247,000 miles 1st gear Chernobled. Could have been avoided if not so far away. Thank you for extending the life of my transmission.

Miles had every opportunity to take me to the cleaners and he didn't. My Ford Explorer was acting up. The Gary Youmans (spelling) dealer claimed I needed a torque converter for $6,500.00. I had the truck towed to Dewey's from numerous recommendations and I sent the paperwork from ford along with it. Miles could have said I can save you a grand and did some work and I'd never know the difference. He offered a very cheap alternative of flushing my engine a few times and adding an additive to my transmission fluid. My SUV runs like a top now for $400. Good honest mechanics are hard to come by but Dewey's is one.Service: Transmission

The shop I hired to restore my Mustang used this shop to rebuild my transmission. The shop had used Dewey's several times in the past with excellent results.. When I saw the reviews, I was confident they had selected a good shop. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. At first all seemed fine. The transmission was completed and returned in plenty of time to support the build. Unfortunately, once the power train was installed, it was apparent it wasn't working correctly. After a few minutes of driving it would slip out of gear. At that point the car was taken back to Dewey's. Miles had it for 2 more months, and was very poor at communicating. He kept blowing my shop off, telling them he was busy and had other customers. Keep in mind he was already paid at that point. He finally insisted on speaking with me directly and refused to even speak with some people at my shop. He then started giving me lots of excuses as to why it was taking so long, including telling me someone had cut the tube on my transmission and on the donor transmission he used, and that shorter tube was the problem. Um, if he knew it was cut, why did he put it in at all? Why wasn't it replaced? Finally it was finished and I got the car back 3 months behind schedule. Fast forward less than 4 months and less than 200 miles, and the rear output shaft seal blew out on the interstate up in Daytona. I missed the event I was taking it to, forfeiting my entrance fee, and had to have her hauled back. The wrong size seal was installed. They should be press fit and there wasn't a single groove from it being pressed in. I had the seal replaced elsewhere but someone that understands interference fits. I incurred significant loss as a result of Dewey's incompetence or negligence, or both. I would give negative stars if possible. Now I'm worried what inside my transmission is messed up.Service: Transmission

Miles was honest with me on repairing my car's transmission. The car was not worth the repair cost and he was honest about it.I had my jeep repaired at Dewey's several years ago and they fixed it for a minimal cost. Thanks

Car broke down one evening on 95 north. Got towed to a hotel. Called around the area to shops to see if they could diagnose my issue. Went one place in town I won t mention, and didn t receive good service. So I called Dewey s to see if he could give me a better diagnostic. He told me to come by, so I did. He was prompt with service, drove my vehicle and explained to me different aspects of the transmission issue, warranties, and even topped off my transmission enough for me to make it home the following day. All for free. This is the service others should live up to. Keep it up, Dewey s. If I lived in the area, they would get my business hands down.

Fantastic service, reasonable pricing. Miles laid out each possible solution for my transmission issue and addressed the issue with the most cost effective option first which thankfully was successful and saved me a lot of money. Will be returning for future servicing. Highly recommend this business.

Miles at Dewey s transmission took care of us at every step of the process. He is very straightforward and takes the time to patiently answer any questions you have. Hand him the keys and he will have your car back and working in no time. If you are having any transmission issues with your car Dewey s is the best place in town hands down. I went to two other places and was told the car had many issues and would need thousands in repair (clearly trying to upcharge). The people at Dewey s are knowledgeable and got it done right for the right price. This is a shop you can trust, a quality you don t find often today. Thanks to all of you at the shop especially Miles for the car help. I really appreciate it!

This is the Second time that we have had to use Deweys for transmission work.My 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe had been experiencing some pretty serious slipping in the morning. I did not notice any huge leaks or anything, so I just assume that the transmission was on its way out. I took it to Miles, and he told me that he would take a look at it. Once he took a look at it, he found it it was 3 1/2 quarts low on transmission fluid, even though the dipstick was showing it to be full. He topped it off and then put it up on the rack to take a look underneath. He found that one of the 2 transmission coolers was leaking. He gave me two options. The first option was to completely replace the transmission cooler which would cost about $400, or he could just simply reroute the lines to bypass the secondary cooler and it would be about $100. I chose option 2. Got the car back today, and it runs and shifts awesome. These guys have been around since I was a kid (I m 44 years old). They know their stuff. They are fair and honest.

Brought my Toyota Tacoma in after taking it to the dealership for a transmission issue. Dealership told me I needed a new one and wanted to charge me $5000. Took it to Miles at Deweys. He knew what the real problem was and had me back on the road for under $500. Honest and highly recommended.

I took my 05 Ford Expedition to them to diagnose a shifting problem that another shop could not handle. They showed me that the transmission case had hairline cracks, had junk inside and had a piece of a thrust bearing stuck to the magnet that is inside the transmission to catch such things. It also had a cheap type of fluid in it. The shifting problem was quickly traced to the internal circuit board and fixed. It now worked right. however given the other indications of issues, I had them go back and rebuild it. Miles gave me a full report and carefully explained all the things he had done and the parts replaced. I had Miles rebuild it instead of trying to get the original shop to do this under their warrantee as I didn't trust them any more.

Wow! Mind blown on the service an attention to detail. Came in for a specialty part. Everyone in the space coast gave me the run around. "Miles" and the guys have been cranking on transmissions for a while from the conversation we had. Usually a bit freaked out about a mom an pop shop. Here, after the call back an experience of the care they put into my project. I would let them watch my" kids" an know they are safe an wont get lost in the shuffle. Thanks guys enjoy lunch! Lol.

Dewey's Transmissions got my Jeep back up and running quickly. Miles was able to quickly get a part for my Jeep that even the dealer told me would take a week to get in. They got my Jeep fixed quickly and did a great job.

Just picked up my son's car from Dewey's. They diagnosed a shifting problem, reset the computer, checked the levels and quality of the transmission fluid and even the diferential fluid and said drive it a while and see if the problem persists, then bring it back. But no use spending money on it if it was a fluke. And to my surprise they said there was no charge for the scan and diagnosis! You don't see that every day in the auto repair world! Thanks Dewey!

Took my 1964 Impala there to have the Trans looked at. After 2 weeks the got to it. Then it sat OUTSIDE for another month and half because the starter was moving and they dint know what to do. When asking why my 75k car is sitting outside in the rain and becoming rusty the OWNER through the keys at me and told me to get out there. All this while the owner died. So thanks for nothing and i will help spreed the word.
