Absolute gem. I m so excited about this place! Impossible to beat the price and location. The motel is on the sand, it has a beautiful white sand beach which is not a given in the keys. The room was immaculately clean, the beds comfy and the linens spotless. I keep pinching myself, a place like this for the price we payed seems like a dream. As a Florida resident, I plan to make this a regular get away spot. This is the best value in all the keys, for sure. The staff is nice, tons of toiletries and towels are provided. The neighborhood is high- end, great restaurants close by.Rooms: Spotlessly clean, crisp linens, comfy.

Discriminatory Treatment and Harassment Ruined Our StayI have been a regular patron of the Key Colony Beach Motel in Marathon Florida Keys, having stayed there numerous times without any issues. However, my recent experience during my last visit has left me deeply disappointed and outraged.On the day of our check-out, a tradition we've followed many times before, my family and I were looking forward to enjoying the beach and amenities for the remainder of the day. Little did we know, this would turn into a nightmare.As we were peacefully soaking up the sun on the beach with my grandchildren, we were approached in the most aggressive and rude manner imaginable by a fellow patron of the motel. To my shock, instead of intervening to defuse the situation, the front desk clerk from the hotel joined forces with this individual, exacerbating the confrontation.What ensued was nothing short of a humiliating and discriminatory experience. We were made to feel unwelcome and unwanted, with baseless accusations hurled at us. It was abundantly clear that the sole reason for this unwarranted treatment was our race. As a proud US citizen, I was appalled to have my rights violated in such a blatant manner.The lack of professionalism and humanity displayed by the staff at Key Colony Beach Motel is utterly disgraceful. No guest should ever be subjected to such harassment and discrimination, especially not in a place where they've been a loyal customer for years.

Overall impression staying here; we would come back. If you re looking for an on the beach property in a good location this is it. The beach is private, the seating is great, there s a heated pool on the beach if the ocean is on the colder side.If you re looking for a five star spot with nice rooms then this isn t the place to stay. The rooms are very old with few amenities. They were clean and not uncomfortable, but small and outdated. There is a larger mini fridge in each room but the only microwave is in the office (not a deal breaker but inconvenient). The breakfast wasn t bad, there were plenty of options to grab and go. There is coin laundry on site ($6 a load) and an ice machine (always empty on nice days). You re paying for beach front convenience /access staying here not the room or service.Rooms: Small, outdated, mini fridge, no other amenities in room, loud window AC units.Walkability: Not much nearby besides restaurant next door.Noteworthy details: On the beach with nice beach amenities.

If you are looking for a perfect beach location this is it! I cannot say enough good things about the beautiful beach area, pool and outdoor seating areas near the beach! Our room was steps from the beach, and while they were dated they were VERY clean, as were all the outdoor areas! The complementary breakfast was a perk if you didn t feel like going out..:but very basic. The staff was very accommodating and friendly (shout out to the girl at the front desk!) and our room was cleaned everyday and fresh linens provided. Location could not be better for direct beach access and getting to other places in the area! This was our first time to the Key Colony area and we cannot wait to come back!

Absolutely love this place. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Have signs everywhere about being quiet after 9. :00. Pretty little beach. I would give it five stars but at the time of my stay there was no microwave in the room. There was quite a bit of jellyfish washed up on to the beach in the morning so I would be sketchy about swimming.

The location is great. the Beach on the property is well maintained as is all of the property. As other reviews said the rooms are basic but comfortable. there are minimal amenities in the rooms but the beach on site makes up for it. pool looked nice but we were on the go so much we didn't get in it. we were on the go so much we pretty much showered and slept in our rooms and thay was it.The staff were all very nice and the cleaning lady did a great job. Everything was clean and they were always maintaining the property.I would reccomend for an on the go vacation enjoying the keys or relaxing on the beach.Rooms: dated but comfortable. they did have a sign they are adding coffee pots to rooms.Nearby activities: There is a lot to do in the area. I liked the beach and snorkeling at Bahia Honda State Park. All the restaurants we ate at win the area were excellent

Me and my mother were hesitant due to some of the prior reviews. Let me tell you we were so happy with our stay. The rooms are plain. Very clean AC worked well. The shower got hot but the pressure wasn't great. Did it's job tho. Nice size tv and fridge. Breakfast is included and I've seen some reviews complain about it. We tho the selection was more then enough. Pre made egg sandwiches yogurt cereals muffins and danishes. Milk apple vegetable and orange juice and coffee. Lobby is also plain. The location beach and pool is SPECTACULAR the pictures do not do it justice. The seating area tiki bars pool lounge chairs all in great shape. Nicest view I've had in the keys. 2 doors down great restaurant with live band. This place is a hidden gem and we would recommend it to anyone and plan on coming back several times in the near future.Rooms: Plain but clean bed bath and good acNearby activities: Restaurant 2 buildings downFood & drinks: Decent breakfast providedNoteworthy details: Amazing beach

Perfect location with a beautiful beach. I ve read mixed reviews but ended up very happy with my choice to stay here. The check in person was very pleasant, efficient and was proficient in English. Earlier in the day staff were fine but their limited English made communication a bit of a challenge, but was ultimately manageable. Rooms were clean but a bit dated overall, but not unexpected. Bathroom had been updated with a walk in shower and comfort height toilet, new sink and mirror. Refrigerator was larger than many hotels but rooms lack a microwave. Continental breakfast (free/included) was better than I expected for a non-chain motel.Delightful sandy beach with beautiful views.Only complaint would be the excessive stench of marijuana. I got up to watch sunrise and was initially the only one around a bit later I thought oh God, did a skunk just walk by me? then I figured out nope just people smoking. We noticed in every time we were in the beach area. Keyless entries would be a nice update at the property.

PLEASE SOMEONE BUY THIS MOTEL!!! Wasn't expecting much when we drove up & a 4 sale sign out front.CONS: Old motel feel. Rooms sufficient but don't move the furniture because scary dirty under. Old style window AC that gave me sore throat next day but ok. Bathroom older & small but works fine. When plugging in some items, they fell right out of socket.PROS: Location is really nice! Wide beach w/loungers. Lots of shaded patio area as well. Big pool that is nice enough but needs a lot of work. One parking lot away from a bar/restaurant that had live music. Location felt safe & next day lots of seniors (like me) out walking.NEUTRAL: I was surprised that they had breakfast. There were breakfast sandwiches, muffins, juices, yogurt, cereal, milk & coffee/tea. 1 of the oldest microwaves I have seen to heat anything but it was nice & in the lobby.I would go there again & good value for the area. I wish I could but it & make some improvements because there is so much potential.

First, the bad: it s a bit pricey, the service could be friendlier and the breakfast was very rudimentary (i.e. take a muffin out of the fridge, heat it in the microwave and find a place to eat it) I can t complain much about the room as it was pretty decent for a motel, even though a bit on the older side.Fortunately, apart from this, we had a good time here. The beachfront is unique, especially at dusk. We liked the heated pool as the sea was quite cold in January. The parking was very conveniently located: right in front of our room. If we were to come back to the Keys, we would certainly consider staying here again.

OMG This has been the WORST experience in all my years of travel. I showed up for my reservation and they did not have my room. They gave the room away. They also gave away other people's rooms as well according tp other in the lobby. We drove 5 hours and were stick with no place to stay. There is a for sale sign outside which makes me think they just gave up and don't care. Unbelievable. I'm sick to my stomach about how "the family" (Husband wife & daughter) treated us. Awful

It is the policy of the owner not to leave a spare roll of toilet paper SERIOUSLY???????????So we had to go chasing toilet paper at 7am at 3 stores because of this policy.We had to ask for toilet paper twice at the office despite room service coming each off the 4 days we were there.You were so close to a good review, and you blew it over a stupid toilet paper policy. What does it cost you? .15 per cheap roll? Change the policy.Great view. Bring your own TP.Cheapish and clean.

My family and I came down to the keys for a weekend, we were looking for an affordable place to stay and stumbled upon this motel. Friendly staff that accommodated our parking needs, clean rooms with comfortable beds. My wife and daughter enjoyed going to the beach and pool and at night the lighting on the beach created a nice ambiance. We enjoyed dinner at Havana Jacks that was just a minutes walk from the motel.

Beds were hard as a rock, pillows were flat, old linens, the AC was sub par and the filter needed cleaned, we cleaned the filter, but it was hot in the room all night. The AC also blows right at the heads of the bed closest to it. No happy medium. The headboard bounced back and forth. Never used the pool, it's small and was over seriously over populated. The room had an odd smell. Literally left more tired than when we arrived after tossing and turning all night. We reserved a king room, was given two full beds. The two stars for the room are only due to the cleanliness. Parking is tight and for one vehicle only.Positives: location, the room was clean, and the seating/beach area were nice and clean.

This place is a real hidden gem! The views of ocean are amazing; as are the beach and shaded palm area! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We will be staying here again.

I am not the one who write reviews about places, but by far this has been the WORSE place we have stay. We reserved for 2 nights by phone with the property and told has it was 270 for the 2 days (we reserved 3 rooms) got there Friday night and they gave as the parking tickets for 2 nights so everything was good until Sunday morning when they go to the room to tell us that we need it to pay $800 more since we had only pay for one night. Even got the police there, what a bad experience and lack of costumer service. When the manager got there she was super rude and screaming at us. This place will never see us again.

This is an overlooked gem in Marathon. Don't be fooled by the simple looks. It is a basic, comfortable and clean motel RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!! The staff is warm and incredible, the beach area is like a tropical island, the pool is very clean and inviting and the "snacks" they provide in the morning qualify as a real complimentary breakfast! Please go and enjoy. We will return!

Clean and a great place to sleep! The beach is so picturesque and fully appointed with plenty of beach chairs, tables and Adirondack chairs. We brought a coffee pot so that wasn't an issue. There is breakfast, but I didn't even go because having my coffee at a table facing the beautiful beach was enough for me. I am so glad we found this little gem! We found awesome restaurants nearby to fill my seafood and cocktail cravings. If we are ever in the area, we will stay there without ever looking elsewhere! We were so pleased that it's so convenient to see the other islands with this suite facing the beach to come back to everyday. I can't find anything to complain about! Staff was friendly. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water after lounging on the beach and dipping into the ocean all day, it was very refreshing and had all the toiletries including toothpaste! I did bring my blow-dryer since a review stated there wasn't one. If you're coming to stay in a room the whole time and expect the ritz, this place isn't for you! For us, it was perfect! We had an amazing beach right out the door and a wonderful vacation!

The staff was quick with the business so we could get right to relaxing,even let us check in early. The room was clean and just what you need for a quick getaway. The grounds were spacious and very inviting with plenty of seating and ability to have multiple guests with room for a more private beachside experience. Being Harley riders this is highly recommended if on a trip through the area on two wheels. We will definitely be back!

The rooms are very Florida old school and the bare basics. Towels, shampoo, soap, and small lotion. Our room was very clean. No complaints there. Loved the beach area. We sat outside in the PM and in the AM and was very nice. Next door is an okay restaurant, but wonderful ambiance. The good thing is no driving if you have a drink. I would stay here again. Staff was nice. My only complaint was the AC wall unit, it was directly next to one of the beds. It blew frigid air right on my mate's head. My mate kept shutting it off because his head was freezing and I felt hot on my bed next to him. Overall, a very quiet and nice area to stay.

The beds are double beds, not queen. It is clean, and they daily service the rooms well. The breakfast is just muffins and juice. The milk was expired and the attendant threw them all away once I poured the curdled milk into my cereal. There are no microwaves in the rooms and the fridge didn't work and we lost our groceries. Probably fine for a night as a couple but not really set up for families. The pool is nice and heated and yhe beach is beautiful. Don't eat anywhere on Key Colony at any restaurant, you'll be disappointed and it's expensive. Also, you can use their laundry for $3, but nobody told us this until we were leaving. I spent a lot, but didn't get a lot.

The Hotel grounds were trashed. Beer bottles, wine bottles, aluminum foil food containers and water bottles littered the common areas. I woke up to watch the sunrise and had to move the trash.The staff threatened to tow our Jeep because we did not have the tag in the window. There were cars parked in the no parking area and we could barely back our jeep out of the parking lot.The office did not open at 7:00 am as advertised. We had to wait until after 7:00 am to get coffee.This used to be a great hotel but we have not had a good experience the last two visits. I would recall another hotel.The staff is not friendly at all!!!
