Very happy with the machine work I had done here at Tachyon, Jeff is the man! I did a full rebuild on my own Gen 4 LS truck engine (my first one btw) and needed some pretty run of the mill stuff done (hot tank block, heads, clean up valve seats, valves, pull out and install cam bearings, cylinder hone, polish crank, broken stud removal in aluminum head) he knocked it out of the park! Plastigauged everything during assembly and it all checked out. Truck is running smooth, glad this place was recommended hope they stay around forever!

Can t even put on a battery terminal.Used some cheap universal kit and the positive terminal was too small for my battery lead, so they hammered it on, damaging the post and resulting in leakage and corrosion which left me stranded. Piss poor shop and has only gone downhill since Terry left. I ve been a customer for years because I understand human error happens, but they also almost killed me when servicing my drum brakes resulted in barely being able to stop coming off of a highway on-ramp. I ve also had to go through 3 different ac compressors because they order the absolute cheapest thing available on the market. Backyard step-dad work for dealership pricing. Steer clear.

I brought my 1984 corvette in for some much needed maintenance to the suspension and ignition timing. Jeff, and staff, exceeded all my expectations. My car has never ran this well - they completely dialed it in. Best mechanic shop in Jacksonville, hands down. If you have an old school and want it running optimal, these are the people you want touching your automobile!!!Services: Steering & suspension replacement, Auto maintenance

They were great! I travelled from out of town and my car went out of service. They took the time to help me even after closing so I could get back on the road. I'm so thankful for them because I made it to my destination on time and at a great rate. Would recommend

They fixed our Mercury Milan after two other places could not. One was Ford on Atlantic. Reasonable price too. They are a true vehicle repair shop.

I had a 2.0 T mk 6 engine built . I ll will say the newer employee who answers the phone is not a very pleasant person. Bad attitude and doesn t really care to help you or answer questions. The other guys are really nice and easy to talk to.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

I took my head off of a 1965 Mustang inline 6 to be resurfaced and valve seals replaced. When I got the head back from Tachyon and placed it on the block and got everything torqued down the head was leaking from the freeze plugs. I don t understand how they would resurface the head change the valve seals and not change out the freeze plugs in the head. Every shop that I called said the freeze plugs should have been changed out. It s an easy fix but I paid for all that to be done. I m very disappointed with Tachyon, they came highly recommended from a co worker. I would not recommend them to my friends.

Great work on the Axle job. Idk why Why Jeff thought I was a dumb girl I did ask the gentleman to please check my tires as the indicator is on and I know that PSI was short he tells me oh it's the dummy light and needs to be worked on.I took it to a friend we took it over to a place to fill my tires (less than 2 minutes) up they were at 22 and 28PSI they were supposed to be at 33 PSI the light is off. Wow!

This shop is busy because they do good work. Nice friendly staff who explained everything before the work was done.I highly recommend Tachyon automotive.

I thought I had found the right place to get auto work done,but I'm starting to rethink this. Took my van in for not starting,sudden shut off right in the middle of driving,they said it was the wiring harness after months of them having my van now they are saying it is the brain. Before all of this I payed for what was suppose to be the problem, still in their shop for 8 months now and it's still not fixed. They are trying to save me money,but seriously. I'm still paying for insurance on a vehicle I can't drive. I'm becoming a bother to my family for rides.

I have them do my machine work for my motorcycle and Jeep among other things. They are always super fast friendly. Work is on point. And costs are very reasonable. With 25 years of motor work under my belt, I wouldn t trust anyone else.

I have been bringing my FJ Cruiser here for years! These guys are honest..priced very fair and are excellent mechanics. It s cost half of what a dealership to repair my truck. I never worry about being over charged or being taken advantage of.Terry & Jeff are fantastic!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. They messed up a job and didn't want to give a refund. I told them we can go easy route or a long one taking my car to a dealer for inspection and to the court right after. They gave refund right away. Such a rip off. Don't go there. One star review well deserved.

Very honest and friendly mechanics! My girlfriend's Focus ran hot a couple times but I was unable to recreate the issue. Still wanted a mechanic to check it out before we attempted to make a road trip. They were unable to recreate it either (must have just been a fluke), but they offered great advice in case it happens again. They didn't try to replace anything I didn't need and since they couldn't find anything wrong they were extremely fair with the diagnosis fee. I definitely feel comfortable with their opinions and will bring all of my vehicles here in the future!

I brought in a 1965 Ford Mustang 200cu in 6 cyl. to rebuild as compression was 115 and needed to be factory 155-165. The long block rebuild completion took 4 month, $2300 and final compression is 120. The motor still runs very badly & fouls plugs out with- in minutes. I can't drive down the street, 1/4 mile. I can't afford to have someone else do this again. The carb was rebuilt by National Carb and tested on another 6 cylinder and tested good. I never bothered to contact Tachyon, because I was busy trying to figure out what was wrong other than the rebuilt engine.Service: Engine repair

Brought a very expensive cylinder head to be cleaned, decked, and rebuilt. 75 miles later the head was eating its self and the owner Jeff who is very unprofessional refused paying up for any mistakes!! Legal case pending!!!! WISH I Could give less than a one star review, Do not bring your car or parts to this shop!!!

Said they would call in 2 days to let me know what was going on with my stuff. 9 days later I called seeing what was going on being that they never called me. On this call Jeff tried to sell me things I didn't need and lied to me about what was wrong with my stuff then said he would call back in 15 to let me know about the rest of the engine stuff I dropped off. Over 2 hours later I called again and he tried to sell me the same thing then said they were looking at it right then. The next morning I called to ask how much was done so I could pay for that and take my things. Jeff avoided my question 6 times and each time trying to convince me that I don't need my things. On the last time I asked he got upset and finally told me they never looked at my stuff and to just come pick it up then hung up on me. So they never looked at my stuff, tried to sell me work that wasn't needed and lied to try to sell it even though again they never even looked at it(his exact words), rude, and poor communication. Don't take your machine work here they will try to milk you for your money. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

Worked with Terry to get a poorly designed OEM part that failed replaced with an aftermarket part on my 370z. While the repair isn't typical, they still scheduled me in to have the work done. I was given a rough quote and they kept to their word while keeping me informed along the way. Props to Jake who did a majority of the tough work! Trustworthy people - I'll be back.

Shop was recommended to me by a fabricator friend. Didn't tell the shop who sent me and they were very honest in helping me decide what direction I want to go with my build. They are very down to earth.

Worst expire cr ever! I brought my heads there off my 5.4 to get cleaned up ported and one exhaust stud that was broke off in the head. First thing they did was said they would call in 2 days and no call. They took forever to port my heads which would be understandable if they did a good job but all they did was run a dremel down the ports to clean them up not much port work. Next they lost some parts of mine which I obviously made them replace weren't happy about that and started getting annoyed with me. Lastly they never even extracted my manifold stud. Wouldn't recommend anyone there not even my sisters ex boyfriend. DO NOT GO THERE!

These guys did a major job on the 350 small block in my 1988 GMC Suburban 4-wheel Drive. This was more than five years ago. My engine.....still running as strong as the day I picked it up. If your engine needs a little pep or a lot, this is the only place I would rely on!
