I cannot say enough good about American Transmission. The most reputable transmission and Automotive Service in Jacksonville. They took care of me with the cost of a rebuild transmission and some other repairs I needed. I would like to thank Keith Jr. He was awesome kept me informed on all cost and got it done in a timely manner. Once again I have been in the automotive industry for over 34 years. And they are my go-to transmission place.

If i could leave 0 stars I would.DO NOT BUY A TRANSMISSION FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!!!I paid $6,000 for a Reman from this place, and that transmission only lasted 6 months. The warranty only covered 12,000 miles and I still ended up paying $600 for a second transmission. TERRY in the warranty department would not answer phone calls or emails from me or the shop handling my truck. This only drug the process out of getting a replacement several weeks. There warranty is awful and any other rebuild company has a much better warranty, I can promise that. Stay away from American Transmission at all cost unless you want a overpriced wore out transmission with 0 warranty coverage.Sincerely,Pissed off customer.

Absolutely horrible experience, I own a small business and purchased a transmission for a guest of mine. Transmission went bad after 5 months, had to pull it out and wait 3 weeks to receive another one. We installed and and the transmission was broken from them. Pulled it back out and sent it back in and received another one. Same issues with no 1st gear or 4th, I had to tow the truck to all transmission would for them the rebuild this 3rd transmission . Cost me $3000 for all these inconveniences and they didn t even care to pay the labor for the transmission never use these guys. Super unprofessional. I would never suggest this place to anybody to buy here

Absolutely trust in them to get your car right! They were upfront on what it would cost to rebuild my cummins transmission and was exactly what it cost on pick up! On top of that the turn around was exactly what they Said for complete trans overhaul! KEITH JR was the best , got me my truck back fast and RIGHT. Not one issue from the trans now!!! Great pricing as well, $2700 for complete rebuild and to r and r the trans! After bringing it to ammco trans, definitely don't trust ammco, wouldn't rebuild trans and quoted 7k. GO HERE TO AMERICAN TRANSMISSION, and ask for KEITH JR. From business owner to another, thank you for getting my big truck right again!!!

Transmission never even worked from the word GO Zero miles and had internal parts fail, never do business with them... their warranty is a scam and a lie

best transmission shop ever we have been with the over 20 years the entire staff have always been top notched we fell confident with running our entire transmission services through them all these years the always stood behind there warranty i couldn't do what we do and offer what we offer without them

Edit:Unless you want your vehicle driven home by techs. Wrecked and have the owner lie to you for over 8 months, saying waiting to hear from my body shop .My truck is now wrecked and the owner admitted it. 1 year later it s still wrecked.

Great place to get service. This is the second time getting my vehicle serviced. 1st time was a fuel tank leak. They found a loose hose connector. They didn't charge for unnecessary parts. They solved the issue with labor only. They are not the cheapest in town. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I got quality service at a reasonable price. I will use American Transmission again. Thanks for a job well done.

Brought my f250 truck back in for warranty work. They took care of the problem. No money out of pocket. They kept their word. Every time I called I got to speak to keith segars. It kept me informed. Very happy with American transmission. I highly recommend them. My transmission is perfect.

I called and they were very helpful on the phone. Went I brought my car for repairs Edwin was incredible helpful and great to work with ..they called me when my repair was finished and picking it up was as easy as dropping ig off. Besides doing a great job with my repair they even cleaned my car. Great all around experience!Service: ElectricalService: Electrical

Second time here I am NOT satisfied. Years back they did an Oil gasket on my 1999 Chevy 3500 7.4 L and they did a fine job. I take my truck in knowing I need an alternator swap so I get the alternator on the guy mike says you also need a new exhaust intake box and a pulley. Running a business myself I don t mind getting things fixed correctly the first time because my loyalty to my customers first relies on a reliable vehicle. After One full week of public transportation I get my truck(2020 Silverado 5.3) back at $805. Now I have a New problem after leaving the shop my truck is LOW ON OIL And RUNNING HOT LIKE FIRE. I ve had this truck For 3 years and drove 106,000 miles never once had this problem. I Take it back to the shop the mechanic has me to lift the hood and he goes directly to a hose coming from the water pump that has a PIN hole size hole directly on top. Very very Very SKETCHY. The man wanted to charge me more money for something that occurred while the vehicle was not in my possession. These people are scammers and the head supervisor flared up at me when I said I won t be bringing my business back here. If you want to be hustled out of hard working money risk your vehicle shutting down while crossing a bridge and then Verbally ASSAULTED these are the guys. No apologies or anything just nitty gritty Customer service

Terrible service. My car has been in the shop for tree weeks. Every time i call is lie after lie. The engine light came on. I was told that it was a sensor. And after tree weeks after they dropped and opened the transmission got the cost of the repair. $4000.00. And still today my car is not ready yet. Keith Jr. Has been my contact and never get and straight answer from him.Service: Transmission

Patrick and the team at American Transmission were great. I had to get back home (not Jacksonville) but my transmission was severely overheating. They were able to get me in on almost no notice, "patch" the issue to get me home safely, and gave me advice on how to fix it and what to look for at a shop back home.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

I wish I would have read the reviews before dropping off my car here due to a reccomendation from the dealer I purchased my car from. The recent reviews on this shop about been slow and delivering poor customer service are accurate. My car have been in this shop for more than a month at this point (03/28/23). My transmission was being repaired through an extended warranty (Adjuster was in schedule to show up on 04/03/23 based on what the shop said to me, same thing they told me on 04/11/23, the adjuster was supposed to show up on 04/10/23 - and he said they have 48 hours to show up). When I asked Keith Jr how long will take to have my car repaired, he specifically said 7-10 days once the claim was approved . The claim was approved 17 days ago and today 04/28/23 when I asked what is the status of my car he said will be ready following Tuesday. He said and I quote: " I didn't touched your car until recently becasue it was waiting in line to be repaired". They don't call to give you an update, and you will get the same dissapointment answer if you go to the shop.READ THE REVIEWS!! Customer saying they had to bring their car in for a 3rd and 4th time becasue issues after repairs and is giving me concerns on how my car repairs will deliver.Service: Transmission

I was out of town and my clutch gave out on a Friday while I was working at the hospital downtown. These guys were the first available and as soon as my car got in they were looking into the problems and confirming what parts they need. The next they had it done. Great customer service, and they came through for me when I needed it done quick. I would recommend them to anyone.

I'm stuck in a rebuild loop with this company that was used by my normal shop since they don't do transmissions. I am on the 4th rebuild since March of 2022, with the 4th rebuild being a bolt on of a new until as opposed to a rebuild supposedly. I also purchased the extended warranty with the first rebuild back in March. They return my truck today to my house in St Augustine and the right rear fender is scratched up. This is the worst auto service have ever received since I started buying cars. Run away, DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!!!Service: Transmission

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!Had my transmission rebuilt there a little over a year ago,and this is the second time I've brought it back for warranty repairs.Its been 2 months they've had my vehicle. . They never called to update me on status. So finally , I called them after a month of them having my vehicle and they still hadn't started on it yet. I had to call everyday to find out when it will be ready. but everyday its a different excuse either they tell me, tomorrow it will be ready ,or they come up with a new issue, which i would have to pay out of pocket for. Or just outright dodge my calls. So i began showing up to the shop for a response... AVOID USING THIS BUSINESS BY ALL MEANS ..THANK ME LATER!!! READ PREVIOUS COMMENTS...others have had similar issues

Excellent service, changed fluid and filter also relearn transmission, performs as it should now . Kieth and Mike excellent communication. Reasonably priced. Would use them again.

I truly do not understand how my car has been with yall for going on 4 months and my car still isn't fixed. I was given my car back after yall had it for almost 3 months and 3 days later it was right back at the shop! As of today yall have had my car for 3 weeks and every time I call its another excuse...ie, waiting on parts to be mailed, and apparently this is a "first come first served" establishment, as said to me by the service person. At this point you are doing warranty work to repair what you never truly repaired to begin with. SMDHService: Transmission

Mike and Keith, Jr. and Sarah and Katrina could not have treated me better. Mike was patient with me and helped me understand everything I did not know about transmissions. When he was not there, Keith, Jr was just as polite and explained everything I needed to know. They had my car for 36 days and I called a lot. It is worth every dollar you spend and everyday you need to be patient. They had come highly recommended from RPM and personal friends. So glad that is where I took my Chevrolet Traverse.Service: Transmission

I bought a transmission from them for my grandson's truck. They did not install the transmission, we had a local mechanic do that for us. Although we had to take the truck back to American Transmission twice for warranty work, they were always very professional and made the repairs without a second thought. Patrick, in particular, was fantastic to work with. He was very patient in explaining to me what they had to do and he listened to me vent several times about the issues we were having. He never made me feel like I was a bother to him and I always felt like I could call and he would listen and be honest with me. I would also like to thank Charley (spelling?) for all of her help with the payment process. She always had time to answer my questions and made the process painless. Thanks again to both of you

I have to say I was very upset with how I was talked to over the phone. I am sure the tech talking to me thought he could get away with it because I am a woman. Told them to out my vehicle back together I was coming to get it and would take it somewhere else. When I arrived the general manager was waiting on me and said he overheard part of the conversation. Assured me that was not how they did business. I elf my vehicle and it was ready the next day at an affordable price. They made the situation right.

to be fair these guys have done 2 oter cars or me with no problems, but the 3rd was a nightmare! new transmission which was not the problem because the problem wasnt fixed after they replaced it. brought back 5 times before they fixed the problem. now 6 months latter its leaking. left several voicemails but nobody called back. I dont know what hapened to these guys but I would find somewhere else to take my car if i were you.Service: Transmission

I want to thank the men in the warranty service department who took care of our sons Nissan titan. Every person from front desk to the ones that worked on it was very polite & professional every step of the way. We had his transmission done here and we had an issue later, which was covered by warranty and as everyone knows that's the best feeling ever!! I have dealt with customers for 23 years and you all are top notch and are very greatly appreciated! I highly recommend this to anyone that needs mechanical work done on their vehicles. Great communication from Rob the entirety of the repair. While the cost was substantially higher than what I was anticipating, my 21yo car feels like it's brand new. I'm very pleased with my experience with this shop, and hopefully will not need them to do anymore transmission work for the remainder of my car's life.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Keith Jr took really good care of me. He had my truck towed for free and fixed quickly. My truck was fixed at a great price and good warranty. I would definitely recommend and go back if ever needed.
