This is an amazing independently run shop with kind, helpful, and honest owners. I had a CV/Axle replaced several months ago here. I stopped in today to make an appointment, but got helpful advice instead and was able to fix the issue myself. This is my go to place for any repairs I need in the future. Highly recommend!

Reliable and honest mechanic in Inverness. Kelly is fantastic! I would trust him with my mother's vehicle and that is saying a lot for mechanics if you know what I mean. They also take care of your U-HAUL rentals.

Kelly runs the best repair shop in Inverness. Super-competent, honest to a fault, prices services fairly, delivers on time, would never rip anyone off. Been using him 13 years.

This was my 3rd visit over the past 3 years. First time was the install of a hitch receiver on my car and it was done professionally and quickly for a reasonable cost.The second visit was actually by our daughter who needed brake work and found a Excel not only did it for less than the quote she had from near her home in OH, but it was done quickly and another issue was found and taken care of in the same visit. She s had no problems with the work.Today was my third visit where I had to have a tire repaired and again, the work was done quickly and for a very reasonable cost.Highly recommended!!

Did great work on my vehicle, Kelly called before working on it to tell me what it needed before working on it and told me the cost up front. I'll take it back to him for other things that I have to have done. Good mechanic and real nice guy.

I would prefer getting ripped off by a National chain over this small business operator, who I originally thought would be the better choice. WOW was I wrong. I wouldn t have minded paying a little more if he actually did the correct work, but, for example, replaced brake pads, knowing rotors were bad & never told me! A couple months later, I had to replace ALL myself. Brake pads AND rotors...for approximately $200. He charged me $275 just for brake pad install & almost $90 for the pads!!! Lasted 4 months! Sorry, sorry mechanic, service & price! But, yeah, he was nice.Service: Brakes

I had a great experience at Excel Automotive. Kelly even rushed my car when I asked to get a quote a day earlier than he originally told me. The parts came the next business day and he got me finished that morning. Super fast, honest and nice people! Thank you very much!

Best mechanic shop within 50 mile radius! We have taken 3 different cars there, and he is quick, courteous, good priced, and he is absolutely honest. I have never trusted my car with any other mechanic, but with them I drop it off a day early! They always lock there gates, they always shake your hand, and they truly don't rip you off.Car broke down? TAKE IT HERE! AWESOME PLACE!

I was having terrible problems with ford explorer, I took it to a number of auto repair shops in the area, all being reputable. I received a number of different things that were wrong with extremely high prices. Honestly i was about to throw the truck off a cliff. Then I took it to kelly he diagnosed it properly, told me what was wrong and it was fixed within a half hour within an eight of the prices that I was quoted. Kelly is an awesome, honest, sincere, mechanic and definitely knows what he is doing.

Honest mechanic. Got guote on replacing an alternator and water pump. Priced for labor have parts approx $400. plus taxes. Also busy until the end of the week needed repairs done immediately. Truly a great choice for vehicle repairs Reliable & trustworthy. Mecanic Kelly has been around for years & more years to come =4

I had to replace the rack bushings on my '93 Lexus SC400. Looked up a DIY online and it looked straight forward, so I attempted it with jack stands and hand tools...after three LONG hours, I had enough! I called Kelly and asked him if I could get it there, could he take a look at it...he said bring it in and had them on in 30 minutes!!! It's amazing what knowledge and the right tools can do--and he only charged me for the time it took and didn't try to put me over a barrel because he knew I was in a tight spot. I WILL DEFINITELY be going here for ALL my auto repair needs from now on, and I highly suggest Excel to anyone in the area. Thanks again, Kelly!

Honest and willing to work with you. I had to overhaul a few vehicles to drive back to Alaska. A week before I had to leave I got injured. I explained my situation and they squeezed me in. Because of my sudden injury I had a pile of parts and fluids they had no problem using. Labor was about as fair as I have ever experienced. Safety inspection yealded only real and known issues. All were immediatly resolved. Outstanding customer service.

Master warning light came on along with a ton of other warning lights. They took me in and ran a scan to let me know what is going on. I go back on Monday. They were friendly and professional. They didn t make me feel like I was about to be swindled like most mechanics do. I have done business with them in the past and have never been disappointed. I actually have never been to Excel Automotive. I know this sounds a bit odd but I get the best quality customer service a gal like me who gets confused about her car, that I can get. I live up in TN but I'm friends with the owner & his wife & I've known them for many years. Since last year I've had the usual issues come up & not so usual I'm used to, come up. I have oddly a poor choice in what shops to take my car to for maintenance. I didn't know that until I texted Mrs. Ashmore & asked her advice & she was giving her advice while talking to Mr. Ashmore who owns & operates Excel Automotive. Mrs. Ashmore will stop what she's doing & immediately assist me and answer my questions & tell me what to ask when I go places. She'll keep it simple so I understand the message I have to convey to whomever is working on my car. Even when I get a flat tire, I am getting directions, even if it's to simply calm down & all will be well. Mr. Ashmore, the owner, looked up places for me to go to in my area by my zip code and we both agreed on one location I should try per his recommendation since I obviously can't drive clear down to Florida for him to work on it for me (which he would in a heartbeat). I always ask them (Mr. & Mrs Ashmore) questions before I go have my car worked on, even though I go there more often for general tune-ups, to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Heck my maintenance light came on and stayed on & that's not something easy to trouble shoot. Mrs. Ashmore simply asked when I last had my oil changed & it turned out to be an issue & she told me to tell the shop I go to, to make sure the reset my maintenance light so it just doesn't stay on. They've been a huge help from who to go to for oil changes, when I got a flat tire (which ended up being more than just a flat after the car was thoroughly looked over), & when I panicked because my brakes were making noises. Mrs. Ashmore will even have me scan my bill to make sure I'm not being scammed as well. When I was given a list of things to look out for as I get closer and closer to much higher mileage, I ran that past her as well. She told me not to worry yet but to keep an eye on things. I get the best service from them granted I wish Mr. Ashmore was the one working on my car all the time whenever it needed it. I told Mrs. Ashmore if I ever won the lottery I'd be flying myself & the car down all the time for regular tune-ups & the not so regular problems that pop up unexpectedly.Best service ever considering I live out of state!

Did great work on my car for less than originally quoted as it didn't take him as long as he thought it would. That is the first time I ever spent less than quoted.
