Experienced a tire issue minutes before the shop closed at 1 pm. Mike, the owner, went above and beyond, assuring me to bring in the vehicle, waiting for me. In 15 minutes, the tire problem was expertly resolved, showcasing the excellence of our neighborhood auto shop. Thanks to Mike for exceptional service definitely a 5-star rating!

I strongly recommend not to use this shop. I dropped off a part to be repaired which according to the shop manager would take few hours to do. I dropped it off and called to pick but not ready. Called next day and not ready, called next day and the person answering the phone did not have an idea on what was done on the part but suggested the reason for the delay. Senseless.They took the part to other mechanics because they could not repair what they claimed initially it could be done. Other shops could not fix it and they had no idea what to do. 4 days after they still could not fix the part and gave me all sorts of justifications.At a loss and without my vehicle for over 5 days, i gave up on their trust and picked up the part for a true mechanic to do what they failed to do. Not only the part was not repaired, they kept a spare part I dropped off for them to install it. I still cannot drive my vehicle and they washed their hands. Moreover, I had to pay $200 for fixing nothing!Now back to square one to get a true mechanic to fix the problem but now I'm afraid that they may have damaged the part they were supposed to repair. I hope and pray that they did not cause further damage.Please stay away from this shop and do not even rely on what you are told over the phone. A decade of experience they claim to have in the business but they failed with me on the first time and certainly last.If they new better, the should not taken the job or even charge me for nothing. I guess that they need the money.Very disappointed.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I am beyond grateful to Mike and Mike's staff. The guys inspected my car for hours without finding any troubles in the gear shifting. It turned out it was just my fault and they showed me the reasons why. They didn't charge a dime and help me all the way. A lot of other dealers would have taken advantage of the situation and charge thousand of dollars to change whatever was not necessary. God bless people like these ! Very expensive for usually works. You are a good repair shop, but your prices broke my brain.I wanted to change AC compressor, but my new part was broken and AC not started, I deside install back old compressor with noise. I spend $1150 for double installing and right now I have what I had - old noising ac compressor and minus money. Yes, it's my fault with broken new compressor. I know.Thank you Mike for your greed. I visited your service 4 times with different situations and it seemed to me that I was a regular loyal customer.Never come back.

Horrible place for service, car came out in worse condition than it came in. Owner wouldn t even listen to my concerns. More worried about the price he gave me and how low it was.Added!!!On top of that owner writes counter review on mine that is telling lies. Work was never finished and parts fell off from vehicle causing more damage!Update 4 years laterMy Chinese parts installed properly and not by rookies, held up perfectly without help from this crook!

Brought my daughter s 2009 Honda in for the shaking that we suspected was a bad engine mount(s). Dan was very helpful in person and I spoke to Mike on the phone who was also kind and knowledgeable. They did an inspection and found the bad mount as well as one or two other maintenance needs. The job took a little longer than you might experience at a big dealership but the work was done well from what I can tell. Pricing was reasonable and I would trust them to work on the car again.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

I've been coming to Great Bear for years now and always receive top of the line service. I switched to Pep Boys for one oil change and immediately regretted it and came back to Great Bear. They are super professional and honest which is important when you don't know much about cars. I always drive off the lot with my vehicle running smoother than before. They've done accident repair, AC repair, tire installation, and regular oil changes for me and I've been extremely satisfied with all services. They even have an app now that shows pictures of the work they are doing on your vehicle and you can pay through it which makes for a seamless end to end experience.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Tires, Vehicle Inspection, Wheel alignment, Air conditioning, Oil change

I have to take a minute to write a review which i HARDLY ever do. Dan at great bear is amazing. He explains everything to me clearly and he has all of the right intentions. I would recommend everyone to this business who is in need of assistance with their vehicle. Great customer service and amazing results. I have lived in eight states and in my lifetime have owned 15 cars, but had never received the polite, personalized service I experienced at Mike s Great Bear . They were transparent and updated me as they diagnosed my car s complicated issues and were very fair with pricing. Had a blow out on the freeway near closing time. Pulled into Mike s and got help from Dan. Turn out my rim was bent and a new tire could not be put on it that evening. Dan offered to keep my car overnight so that I could get my rim fixed. I m am so thankful for the great service I received from Mike s. I ll sure be back!!!Service: TiresService: Tires

Had my car towed to Mike's Great Bear Auto for the first time for a no start condition. Being out o country client I was very satisfied with the manner that it was handled. Mike kept me informed of the progress of the work as it was being diagnosed and advised of what part replacement options costs were.The cost and time to do the work was reasonable as my car got Toyota approved replacement parts.Staff was friendly and informative.

Great team, personalized customer service that you cannot often get these days. Many of my Hillcrest neighbors and I have been coming here for years. Love that it's family owned and operated. Cool comfortable WI-FI office waiting area. Even Pet friendly. Always dependable, honest and really know their business. Mike is a great resource for anything Auto related. Mike at Great Bear is awesome! He inspected a pre-owned conversion van I was considering purchasing, and he spent 2+ hours looking everything over, giving me a detailed list of all repairs needed and estimate on how much to repair everything. I ultimately passed on the van purchase because of all the repairs needed, and Mike saved me from buying a vehicle that would've failed on me and possibly leave me stranded. Great Bear Auto is also Triple AAA certified, so you can be sure you are getting top notch care for your vehicle. Thanks Mike!!Service: Vehicle Inspection

I was going out of the country and my car did not start hours before me leaving for the airport. Mike sent one his guys with me to pick up the car, replaced the battery and dropped off the car at my house, so my mother did not have to go to pick it up. That's what I call going the extra mile. A really nice gesture from their part that will keep going back and use their services.

I Would Highly Recommend Going to Mikes Great Bear Auto Shop. They were able to help me with my insurance claims they came to my house to pick up my car and sent me a rental car. I tried to deal with my insurance and it wasted 3 hours of my time over the phone. I decided to look for a shop and found Mikes Great Bear gave them a call. Spoke to a gentleman named Mike and he was kind enough to handle the the part with my insurance and had a tow truck sent to me directly with a rental car pick service. We worked with mike for our Chevy van and spend upwards of $3,000 to get this van fine tuned and our van won t even start up right now. I am appalled that they could call themselves professionals here. When someone pays that much money, you except the car to be working just fine. I do not recommend using this shop! I took my car here because it was recommended by AAA. I have to say that it was a positive experience. I took my car in on a Thursday afternoon. I was told, after they checked my car, that I would need to leave it overnight. I was offered a ride home by the mechanic who was servicing my car. The next day I was called by Mike who explained what was wrong with with my car and the alternatives I had. I decided to have it repaired. He said he would call when jt was ready. He was up front and honest about the options and the cost. I think it was reasonable, considering all the work that was done.The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that they send you a text with a link that supposedly indicates the status of your repair, but it really didn't work. My car was ready, but it just kept saying "Status update pending" or something like that. Although they called to say my car was ready, I was having trouble with my phone (I had to replace it) and never saw the missed calls. Anyway, I finally picked up my car and it's running great!

We went to mikes for a simple radiator leak . We got no information and our billed just piled up. it went from 1 hour or labor to 4 and a half hours. From 400~$ to 1,0046.95$ in less than 2 days. all to replace a manifold that didnt even solve the problem and only caused more issues. we have now 5 miss-firing cylinders. how did it get worse? We brought our reciepts and paperwork to him today. he hands my boyfriend a pack of coil plugs and says do it yourself. So im out just about 1,100$ trying to figure out what his mistake is. Do not go here if you want your problems solved. if you love to just throw your money way.. this is the place for you.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Engine repair

I highly recommend Mike's Great Bear Auto. Mike and his staff did a great job and was always made sure that my mother's vehicle was safe on the road. The final cost was a little higher than the estimate but lower than my initial thought of a broken axle. We discussed a lower option that would not have been as safe and I went with the higher option. I understand that an estimate is only an estimate and that unforeseen changes can make that estimate higher than quoted. Mike and his staff did a great job and I will continue to take our cars to Mike's Great Bear Auto.

I got a groupon for oil change WITH tire rotation from this place for a reason! Only reason was it included tire rotation and I hadn't done it for years!! I always make sure to take a picture of my tires before I take it for a rotation. All my tires have different marks so I can differentiate only by looking at a pic. After they were done, I made sure to ask them if they did tire rotation and they said YES very quickly! But later when I checked, the tire were on the same place, NO TIRE ROTATION WAS DONE! I can't believe they lied to a customer!! This was my 1st and LAST time at this place. Save yourself from this lying place!!!! If I could, I would give this place a zero star!Service: Oil change

We have been taking our cars here for 17 years because we trust them to tell us what we need to keep our cars running well. We tend to keep our cars over 10 years, and we have never had any major engine or transmission problems. They have never sold us anything we didn't need. Their prices are reasonable, and the work is done within the estimated timeframe.
