I've been using Terry's for a while and I'm happy with the prompt service. Price is very reasonable. If something is under warranty, they take care of it with no problem. Good to know there are honest auto shops still around.

If I could leave one star I would. For the past 2 weeks I have been picking my coworker up and bringing her to ocala from Gainesville because her car was supposed to be getting worked on. Everyday she would call and ask for updates and he would be like im trying to figure out what is wrong with it . Then she called and he said that he left early because his dog died, then today he had a doctors appointment. I feel as if you are doing a service if you can t or do not feel like working on Someone's car then you should just say that instead of making them wait 2 weeks just to not do anything nor fix anything on the car. I would not recommend this place to anyone 0/10.

Let s start by saying stay far away from this place Terry himself is a liar.. I brought my car in a not crank state before speaking with Terry assuring me that he would have me running.. Yes running around is what he gave me lie after lie that my car would be fixed come to find out Terrys staff wasn t experienced enough to deal with the electrical issue that my car was experiencing after a week of lies I was patient enough to give him time to find Or fix the issue finally coming to my sense that my problem wouldn t be solved at Terrys I decided to get my car towed to another shop 2 weeks is more than patient for a car that hasn t been diagnosed every talk I had with Terry was he couldn t give me information on MY CAR after the 15th call 2 weeks later.. Terry became angry and decided he would charge me 600$ for him to unhook my car needless to say my car was in the same state as I left it save yourself don t go here

Customer service is superb and you know you can trust Terry. He will tell you what really needs to be done and not do any work just to get your money. Hard to find a mechanic like that anymore. It s pretty busy so be patient but who cares waiting a while in order to get peace of mind

Very disappointed by the service here. Terry came highly recommended by coworkers, however I learned the hard way that his shop looks for the fastest fix not always the correct fix. Had a feeling I was being taken for a ride, so I sought outside opinions - validated by 3 other mechanics that the problem was not properly investigated the first time around, yet I still had to foot the bill.

Terry is very trustworthy. He is the only mechanic that I am willing to go to as a young woman in Gainesville. He is very direct about what the car needs and what can wait. His staff works very diligently under his direction, and it s very clear that the goal of this business is to retain customers by giving them the best experience possible! I will definitely return :)

So, I was in quite the bind. I was hearing a rattling sound and smelling something coming from my air vent when I would accelerate. I tried going to Walmart and called every other mechanic along Archer Rd and no one would see me. I called Terry and he told me to bring it in. He said that he would "make time" to see my car. I couldn't have had a better experience. Multiple mechanics checked out my car, they test drove it, and found the issue. They even showed me a less important issue with my car that I can fix at a later date. I was in and out in an hour and I couldn't be happier. I have to drive to Orlando on Thursday and I was terrified that I would have an expensive repair that would ruin my trip (or even keep me from getting to the airport). Neither was the case. I am very grateful to Terry for seeing me without an appointment, making time for me, and fixing my issue so fast. Thank you everyone! I told everyone where I work about you guys. Terry s did an amazing job with my car. I am a young woman, a college student at UF, and I m often paranoid and nervous about car repairs as I ve been taken advantage of by other car shops before. Terry s has my business and I d recommend them to anyone needing auto repairs. My A/C stopped blowing cold back in January of this year, I brought it in and they couldn t find a leak so they recharged it and put in dye and told me to bring it back if it stops blowing cold. Now in May it stopped blowing cold again, I brought it in, they found the leak and repaired it. Phenomenal service, fair pricing, and completely transparent with what my car needed done & the cost. If I could give this place a negative 0 I would! Please pay attention to the reviews that says Terry is a con artist and a scammer because that's exactly what he is! Terry had my car for 9 days was told when it was brought in what was wrong with my car, possible blown head gasket, and he let my car sit before charging me $200 to say the exact same thing! Terry talks in circles like you don't know what your talking about so I had to get my car towed to someone who could actually fix my car the right way. Please save your money and take your car anywhere else but here cause Terry will scam you, yea I said it and got the picture to prove it!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Has been professional and helpful in the past, not charging for things that weren't needed and being willing to discuss what is needed and why, but that wasn't the case today at all.I arrived for my "appointment" on time, patiently waited for my car to get in well over an hour later, and then was talked down to by Terry for asking questions and making some quick warranty calls on the job being proposed to me instead of just saying "yes" right away like he would've preferred. To make that worse, my efforts to talk to Terry after that were met with further disinterest and argument from him, which was highly unprofessional and completely uncalled for.No customer needs to be treated poorly and have their time disrespected, and that can also be said for pricing now that I have talked to another shop (with a much higher labor rate) and have been given a drastically different price altogether - approx 33% lower while including an additional part. Given all that, I will not be back for the job mentioned, and possibly not at all.However, I do hope this information is taken seriously by Terry and has a beneficial impact on what he does with me or anyone else (in the front of the shop and on the phone) in the future, because the care and integrity he exhibits impacts the entire shop. Such a change is not difficult to make, but it's not worth me or any customer rewarding such careless behavior by ignoring it and pretending like it's alright when it's not. Terry can do better, and will if he wants to, but that's between him and the Lord.Until then, I'll go back to my (now) 120/hr. shop on my side of town (North Central) who is going to save me almost $100 and include an additional part as part of the work; and I never told them what Terry quoted me! Not professional!!! Long story short. They had my car for 3 days. I had to call as soon as they opened for an update on the third day because the car was supposed to be ready on the second day. They said the part hadn t come in yet and that it would be ready later that day. They call me to at 2pm to tell me the wrong part had been ordered and they would need my car at least another day. I told them that I am coming to pick it up and will have someone else fix the car. I get there, had to wait 45 minutes for my car to be ready. I get the correct part from the dealership only to find out they NEVER put the old part back in and the bolts are gone!!!!!! The old part and bolts could have at least been left in the passenger seat.

Terry's Automotive has been taking care of pur UF student's car since she started at UF 3 years ago. They have always done a GREAT job and have been very reasonably priced! Our daughter will take her car there for everything in the future. It is nice this day and age to find a great Automotive repair shop! We have referred many other UF students to Terry's every time a parent asks for a referral!Service: Oil change

Terrible customer service and even worse craftsmanship. I went with a broken a/c and was charged $500 and it broke again after 12 hrs. I took my car back giving Terry the benefit of the doubt and he charged me another $500 and the air conditioning again broke within 12 hours. I kindly asked Terry to either fix the a/c as intended or give me 1/2 of my money back consistent with the warranty he gives on the back of the receipt. He denied my request and instead insulted me multiple times.My brother also went to Terry when his car died and was given a similar bandaid treatment where the problem that was "fixed" returned within 24 hrs.Overall, this business seems to thrive more on causing problems for your vehicle than fixing it. Terry is highly unprofessional and resorts to name calling when confronted instead of problem solving. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

I d been a regular customer at Terry s and had had really good experiences. However, I got my battery replaced there and it was installed wrong and i ended up breaking down and having to buy a new battery. When I called Terry about it he was extremely rude and didn t seem to care at all. I will not be coming back to this shop and wouldn t recommend it to anyone.

Our alternator went out in my truck while driving back from Tennessee. We had it towed to Terry's and they had it fixed within a few hours. They ordered the part first thing in the morning so we wouldn't have to wait all day. Friendly and speedy!!

Terry's Automotive was recommended to me by Discount Tires. Thankfully, I took the suggestion and went to the right place. The splash shield of my car at the bottom of the engine was broken and it was coming off. They took care of the problem right away. The best part is they didn't charge me any money for the service. I was really impressed by their service and generosity. Surely, Terry's Automotive will be my first choice if I face some new troubles with my car. Till then, probably the least I can do is write a good review about them and express satisfaction as a customer. :)

I'm not sure what some people are talking about in here. I have been coming to Terry's for a very long time and not once have I had a bad experience. Terry always recommends what's best for my car, and if it wasn't for him, I would have had to get a different car a long time ago. Prices are decent, but I value customer service more than anything, and for their customer service, I wouldn't mind paying a little extra if any! I highly recommend this family oriented shop. I have tried many shops in town, and Terry's tops them all, especially in their exceptional customer service!

Awful experience, awful treatment, awful prices. I've seen multiple people (myself included) go to Terry's, overpay for their repair, and then have the problem go away for one day. After that the problem comes back and you get charged more. If you stand your ground on not wanting to pay $1000 a second time for the same fix, you get berated by Terry himself. This shop is actually garbage. Do yourself a favor and take these negative reviews to heart. My friends and I didn't and we suffered for it.Update: If you're reading this, go to Billy's Auto near Butler Plaza. Billy's is cheaper and when something related to what they fixed broke, they didn't charge us to fix it again. This is how it should be. I paid you to fix something, and if it's not actually fixed I shouldn't be charged again. Terry doesn't understand that because he's a scam artist.

Very honest. It s difficult to find an honest mechanic. But Terry s is a great place to go. I didn t know what was wrong with my car I thought it needed an alignment or something else. It turns out all I needed was air. I ve gone to mechanics in the past who wouldn t have told me the real problem and charge me for whatever work I thought I needed although it was a lot simpler. Terry is not one of those people who will take advantage of you. I will definitely be recommending this shop.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced, before I had my car towed up to their shop, I called to make sure they would have time to look at my car today, and they told me that they would get my car in and done today. when I called up there to check on it, they told me they wouldn t get it done before close, as they still haven t looked at the car. I told them that s absurd as I called to make sure they had time to look at it, And then they hung up on me. They wasted my time and my money for a tow and are rude as anything. Mr Terry is awesome!!! I've been coming here since 2005. He's saved me several times when my car broke down. I wouldn't have made it through nursing school if he didn't fix my car when it died close to the end of my last semester!! He's honest and always tries to save you money by telling you what things need to be fixed now and what things need to be monitored. He also serviced my Mercedes ML350 and saved me a fortune!! He also offers towing to his business. I've always recommended him to my friends and family. He's continues to be blessing! Thanks Mr. Terry for all that you do

I've been going to Terry's for a couple of years now and absolutely love this shop and it's team. My prius and I have frequent here with regular oil change to bigger issues like my hub assembly going out on both front tires or wiring issues I had with my headlights due to a ballast going out. I generally ask Terry to diagnose the issues I have and ask for a break down of what's wrong, what cost of parts are and labor is. Terry's has no problem with using parts I bring for them to use in my auto repairs. Terry's has been a great help with my mechanical issues and advice for the repairs I decide to do myself. Otherwise, if I can spare the money, I rather have his crew do the work. If they find an issue I didn't complain about, his team takes the time to show me the issue and explains the severity, if any, the issue may be. His team is by far my favorite of any shop I've been to in the past. You just can't pay me to go any where else.

Visited Terry's Automotive to get quotes on work I knew my vehicle needed. They are extremely courteous and while my car was on the rack, showed me exactly what needed to be replaced and/or repaired and pointed out to me visually why. I liked that VERY much! I have since returned and have had them begin the work my car is in need of. I highly recommend Terry's Automotive!

DON T COME HERE! Save yourself the trouble and go to Goodyear instead. At least there they won t charge you $80 to LOOK at your car without even telling you that they will charge you for it. Staff was rude and inattentive.

I think seven of the nine reviews being two/ one star reviews says something about this company. Save yourself some time and go to smittys auto repair in NE Gainesville. They have thirty reviews above four stars.I went to Terrys for a simple job and had the part in hand. I needed spacer adapters placed on each of the four tires. I would have done it myself but I recently had my hand operated on and can not do that type of work yet. Took them twenty minutes and he charged me $100... I expected maybe $15. I would suggest that Terry take the time next time and explain to customers that his prices are what they are. If he would have done that before the job, I would have smiled and said thank you and gone somewhere reasonable instead of being a pissed off customer who was charged five times what he should have been for an in and out job. He could avoid bad reviews if he would explain his priced before hand, like the review under me. The bottom line is that they are slow and expensive compared to other "mom and pop" shops in town.To Terry, i'm not the first customer with this problem after going through the reviews. I suggest you inform your customers of your prices before you touch their car.
