I have to give this place 1 star based on my experience there. My 2020 Nissan Altima wouldn't start, and Pep Boy was the only place open, so I reluctantly took it here. I thought it was either an issue with the battery or alternator, and figured it would be a very easy and quick fix, so I figured Pep Boy was better than waiting. I should have waited. The next day I am informed, after calling myself, that the issue was "definitely" the starter, and that I would need to get it replaced. I could buy their starter for $464 or find my own and they would put it in for me. I bought a much cheaper starter and brought it for them to put in, and a few hours later, after I called again, I was told that it wasn't the starter, but something related to the wiring in the main wire harness, connected to the battery. They told me, after talking to Nissan, that the solution might be replacing the entire main wire harness, which would cost about $4000+ (something that many people have told us after doesn't make sense because the car is not old enough for that to be an issue). It seemed they do not have the skills or ability to properly diagnose my car/figure out how to fix the issue, so we took it out of there and brought it somewhere else. That other place believes it is simply an issue with the battery, like I initially believed. I would NOT bring my car here, especially if it is a electronic issue.

The customer service at this store was the only saving grace. The mechanics did the original servicing fast but not in completion so it took 2.5x the amount of quoted time. Was told the issues were due to low fuel levels, service advisor said that shouldn t have been used as the excuse and made it right.Had the proper steps been followed, this would be a good review. However, they were not, and were openly told to me not followed; causing me a full day lost at main job and late to my second.

My daughter attends college in Gainesville I am 3 hours away. Her air broke in her car so I decided to call pep boys at the newberry location and book her an appointment to have it looked at. I spoke with mark on the phone and he assured me he would get her air fixed. My daughter took her car in and yes they were busy and she waited quite a bit but when I got the bill I was surprised but in a good way. My bill was very low it was only a relay switch thank goodness. Mark and pep boys could ve lied and end up costing me hundreds but they did not. Thank you Mark and PepBoys it s wonderful to know that there are honest and good people still out there.

Went to pep boys for an alignment and wheel balance without an appointment. Wait time was a little over two hours overall. Truck was too wide to fit on their alignment rack. Wheel balance turned out well. No complaints there. However, the service tech left a big greasy black handprint on my headliner, which I m obviously less than thrilled about. I understand that it happens, but they either didn t notice or didn t care enough to clean it up. As a mechanic myself, both are equally worrying in this profession. To make matters worse, I just got done getting the truck detailed about an hour prior to going to pep boys.

An overall good experience. I worked hard to be on time for my appointment, but my car sat for quite a while before it was brought in. A reasonable amount of time once it was in. I needed the receipt because the car has a full factory warranty or I would have done it myself, so I am a little picky. I choose Pep Boys because I knew I could trust them.

They're very friendly and efficient but will try to scam you. They recommended that I replace several parts that are less than 6 months old and have only 7,000 miles on them to the tune of 1300 dollars. I have receipt of all the work that were trying to do again.. That is so dishonest and sleazy. I will continue to get my free tire rotations but NEVER use them for repairs or purchase anything from them EVER! What happened to integrity?

The advisor tried to charge me for rotor work ($138) that was supposed to be covered in the cost of the standard brake service package ($209) as described on pep boys website. I stood my ground and he relented and discounted the extra $138 but seemed pretty frustrated with me. I am giving 3 stars not to the specific shop but to Pep Boys as a company for advertising one thing on their website but having their employees try to charge extra. I don't fault the advisor. I fault the company. This isn't the first time I've had an issue like this with Pep Boys. If I didn't have lifetime alignment with them, I'd probably look somewhere else but they got me roped in and I go just knowing there might be something fishy that I have to handle. Again, the employees there were great and just doing their jobs but I don't know if Pep Boys the company has the best business practices or best intentions towards their customers.

I ve had nonstop issues with my car since taking it here to get the battery checked a few months ago since it was stalling every time I started it. The first time they claimed that my battery just needed to be charged. A couple of weeks later my car battery died. I took it back in to get a replacement battery since it was under warranty. These people installed the battery wrong which caused it to become corroded and once again stop working. I brought it back in and they claimed they fixed it but weeks later my car dies again. Since I m visiting home, I had another technician take a look at it and apparently they installed the battery wrong AGAIN causing the battery to be loose. The technician told me that my car could have caught on fire with their poor installment. Which is scary to think of because I ve been traveling to different cities. I ve never had an issue with Pepboys until I came to this location. They come across as nice but will take advantage of you if they know that they can. I m so glad I left this town and never have to deal with their incompetence again.

100% satisfied with the service. I got there at 7:15am it was already open i needed batteey check and ended up getting a new battery. The representative was educated and kind. They work really fast and effective. Kenny i believe was his name. The only thing was not so good was the price for the battery!

Their work is OK; however, there's significant room for improvement in their business practices. I recently had my car sent in for repairs. Following the inspection, I received a call with an overall estimate, yet I wasn't provided with an itemized bill. Subsequently, I discovered that the cost of the replacement sensor listed was nearly double the price of OEM sensors. Upon inquiring for clarification, my concerns were not addressed seriously; there was even a moment where they mocked online prices (although the price is from Toyota website). This experience suggests the possibility of dishonest practices. I suggest not go there.

I had a slow leak in one of my tires, so I stopped at this place. As I had an afternoon appointment, I asked how long it would take to fix, and was told 1-2 hrs. Four (!) hrs later they're done. They said the leak was in a place that couldn't be repaired and that the other tires were in bad shape too, so I got talked into buying 4 new tires. As I leave the place, the car indicates that one tire is low, so I have to go back and ask them to inflate it more (it was at 25psi instead of 32!). Back on the road again, I note that the tires on the left side are overinflated to about 45 psi! I decide to just fix that myself. The next morning the slow leak tire is low again. I go to another shop and they change the air valve . It took 30 min and cost $10. Obviously pep boys found no leak in the tire and blew me off. They also left the wheels very dirty and oily hand prints around the driver's door, so I had to get the car washed. In addition the passenger seat had been pushed back so far so the baby car seat in the back was out of place. Safe to say, I do not recommend this place!!

My daughter goes to UF. She needed an oil change, so since I occasionally use Pep Boys where we live in the Northeast, we made the appointment in Gainesville. Her Jeep GC also had the passenger side headlight out.No problems with the oil change. However, they gave her a price of approximately $540 (not a typo) to put a new headlight bulb in, saying it was labor-intensive. I told staff over the phone there were several time saving alternatives to changing the headlamp bulb other than removing practically the entire front end on the Jeep, but they said they had to follow the procedure and pricing in their Pep Boys protocol maintenance manual. I obviously told them not to do it, and advised them further that if I was able to efficiently do it myself when I came down to visit in a few weeks, I would be done with Pep Boys across the board, moving forward.Fast forward to this week, I went down for a visit and was able to change out the headlamp bulb successfully in about 15-20 minutes in my hotel parking lot, having little to zero automobile maintenance experience.I will note the Gainesville staff was cordial and understanding with my position; my problem was with Pep Boys rigid corporate policy on something like this, with evidently no wiggle room afforded to the mechanics.Customer lost, unfortunately.

I was treated fairly and honestly. My issues and repairs were a process that took more than just computer diagnosis, and the time and effort put forth by the whole team was great. The mechanics who worked on my vehicle had some serious dedication to their profession, and were determined to get things done right, without just throwing parts at the problem, and hoping for the best.Thanks everyone at Pepboys in Gainesville FL.

Came in last night with an emergency situation. brake booster went out on our way from Nashville to Tampa. We NEEDED TO BE IN TAMPA ASAP and were assured numerous times we would be on the road by 11am today. It's now11:30 and my vehicle was just recently started. Last night we checked TWICE that they had the PROPER BOOSTER and were told it was.well it wasn't so they called the warehouse to send one at 9am today.Long story short, I'm now late to set up at my show, was lied to and zero #$$_$ given about Any of it. Coffee machine has bugs and the bathrooms lack paper towels. It's not hard to do Better people it really isn't.I run a business and I assure you THIS IS NOT HOW ITS DONE

Went there for my brake pads they said it was $200 at first then they called me and said my lug nuts were on too tight 1,100 to fix. I found a honest mechanic that charged me $200 and got my lug nuts off!

Just called asking if they could change a tire for me. When asked info while trying to explain, they just hung up on me. I guess they don't have much patience. It is not recommended if customer service is preferred. Also not the first time I've had issues with them

My AC was blowing only hot. I asked them to replace my AC actuator. They replaced it, but this time the AC started working intermittently even a hotter blow. When I tried to explain the issue to the gentlemen in the shop, one was said the manager, they did not even listened to me carefully. I asked them to return the part because it made my AC even worse, but they did not accept it because I did not pay the diagnosis fee which is another issue. I took my car home and unplugged the part they installed, which is not the original part, the AC started at least blowing hot as it does before the installation.To summarize, they put a wrong part, at least it made my AC worse, did not even listened to me, and that caused me $400.How would you rate that?Yes, someone called me back after my review published and said the same things that they did not run a diagnosis. Question: How would you run a diagnosis process without putting the missing part first? The request was to install the new part and then run the diagnostic but they installed the part that I purchased from AutoZone first and called me back saying that part was not working. I returned the part to AutoZone and purchased a new one from PepBoys (same shop). When I went back to get my car after work, they just rushed and I waited for another 2 hours. At the end they said the new part did not also work. I asked to return the part and they did not accept that because they did not run the diagnostic.Question again: How would you run the diagnostic without the part? Why didn't you call me back all the day?

Mr. Travis was very helpful and kind. Greeted me with a smile at the register, and was in the same good mood when I came back to pick up my vehicle. Asked him for something extra and he made sure it was taken care of.

Sat an entire hour, as my work van sat in the parking lot for one nail in my tire. Walked to get something to eat and seen the workers smoking cigerate after cigerate walking back and forth to there personel vehicles wasting time. Still waiting going on 2 hrs. This place is a Joke

Excellent service! I made an appointment online the night before and was seen right away. I was missing my wheel lock and had to go home and retrieve it - but the Pep Boys crew still was able to see me that same day and was really quick and professional about it. Papi is an awesome dude and should get a raise in pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Experience 2: I appreciate the service Pep Boys has provided me. I brought my Ford in for a tire repair and oil change this past Saturday. I was surprised to learn my tires have aged out and need to be replaced due to dry rot. While I didn t have the money needed to do all 4 tires at that moment in time, I looked carefully at them and they are showing some sign of age, and this condition makes sense after my research given the low amount of miles driven on the car in its 6 year lifespan and the tires likely being originals from 2017. Perhaps the condition of the tires is marginal for needing replacement but I will be avoiding the freeway, avoiding speeds above 45mph and focusing on coming up with the money and getting back In to have the tires replaced as dry rot is actually dangerous. It shouldn t be messed with as a blow out on highway can kill.Experience 1: Jamie at the front desk was very nice. They were just barely able to fit us in but we got what we needed taken care of at decent price and I recommend them

My college student broke down, they charged me $505 and said it would be an additional $2300 to fix. We had the car towed back home and it shows up with a broken window. They are now playing dumb. Pepboys is a total ripoff and very dishonest
