Great mechanic, with fair prices and honest people. Over the years, they've done a lot of different work on two or three vehicles of mine, and I've never been disappointed. These are the kind of people that will advise you NOT to do work that you come in thinking you need... In my book, that kind of honesty goes a long way. We took our old rusted truck to Dan Kay's and wanted it just to be looked over to find out how bad it was. They said it would be $95 for a "look over" but didn't end up charging us because they knew immediately it wasn't something they wanted to work on. They said it was too bad of shape, and we were grateful he didn't charge us the evaluation fee. :)

These guys took care of me when I needed a battery for my car. David and Lee did an excellent job and got me back on the road quickly and at a very fair price. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing work done on their vehicle.

I had an excellent experience! I arrived at my appointment slot and they had my oil changed and tires rotated and sent me on my way within 40 minutes! The service was complete and it was extremely affordable!I highly recommend Dan Kays Auto Repair and will certainly be going back.

Dan Kay s is my #1 go to auto repair shop for any of my car needs. I ve been going to them for the past year and a half since I found them while driving down the road and decide to give them a chance as it s nearby to me. They are always friendly and honest and have repaired my car from a nail in my tire to my suspension and A/C. Passing through Gainesville in our motorhome when we stopped for gas and saw that we had a nail in the tire of our Jeep that we tow behind. Dan Kay s was close so we pulled in. They stopped what they were working on and we re able to remove and repair the tire without even having us unhook. We were back on the road in 20 minutes. Super nice people, honest and courteous. Slamming great place! I d recommend ANYONE in Gainesville to visit this family mechanic shop. Needed my car fixed up after the tire almost fell off and they had it done in a jiffy for a gnarly good price.

I have brought two cars to Dan Kays, for me they are everything you want in auto repair. Honest and straight forward. Fair priced. And they have fixed everything I ve taken to them with no problems. The most honest and friendly mechanics I have had the pleasure to work with. Very knowledgeable! I had a repair the felt just wasn't worth it for the value of the car. They could have made the repair but rather than my wasting money they told me and I really appreciated it. I ended up getting another car and the 3K they saved went toward the replacement. They put the customer first!

I'll be back to Kays for their professional customer service, timeliness and attention to detail for repairs, and excellent pricing. I went to Kays based on positive recommendations from colleagues, and I'd confidently recommend Kays to anyone. My experience was excellent. I came in because my A/C system went out quickly. I did all I could to troubleshoot myself: changed relays, checked fuses, compressor clutch, and so on. Kays took time to listen to what I'd done already, and to what I thought could be wrong with my car; they gave me an estimate up front; and they called me quickly with status updates. Not only was I happy with their service, but they told me to call back or bring in if any more issues would arise and they'd work with me as part of the original assessment price. Both the front desk and the mechanic were personable, patient, and informative. Kays has the hallmarks of a great local business worth returning to.

We've been going to Dan Kays for several years since we received a recommendation from a friend. They are one of the very few honest mechanics in town that won't try to take advantage of you. We have an older car, and they know our priority is to keep it running. They actually assess the vehicle and determine what it needs rather than looking at a chart with mileage recommendations. Repairs and maintenance are always done well and we never have mysterious issues after servicing the vehicle. The road construction by them has been awful for a long time, but their customers keep coming back because they know they do fair business. I've been going to Dan Kays for over a year. They don't pressure you if you know what you need done, but they will also look over everything if you ask them. I moved to a different city recently and have been struggling to find an honest mechanic. I called around for quotes the other week for a transmission fluid flush, oil change, and tire rotation. A dealership and an independent shop quoted around $240-$260 for the jobs, while Dan Kays completed all of it for $130. Aside from basic oil changes and tire rotations, I've had them do heavy duty jobs like a clutch replacement. Not a single complaint. Great, honest people.

Highly recommend if you need work on your car. extremely easy to work with even if you have a difficult schedule as I do in medical school. His prices were very reasonable and my car was looked at and fixed within day of dropping it off. He communicated efficiently and is great guy!

These are good people who do good work. We have dealt with Dan Kay's for some years now and always been satisfied. We recently had what we thought was an issue, but it was not. David and Mike handled everything with great professionalism and in an assuring manner. I highly recommend Dan Kay's Automotive for anything they can do. If they do the job, it will be done right.

Every time I've needed a repair, I've been treated fairly and honestly here. Even when going in for something as simple as an oil change, other places try to sell me on other stuff (like cabin air filters and things like that) and that's never happened here. I've never felt ripped off, and that says a lot as a woman going in to a car repair place.

My car wasn't able to switch between gears, so I dropped it off at Dan Kays, which was recommended by a friend. He called me when he figured out the problem, broke down the price into parts and labor, and had it fixed the same day! I had an issue with the car the next day, however, so I brought it back in. He said it was a simple problem to fix and did it without charge. I recommend these guys, since Gainesville has some sleazy places (ahem, Tires Plus).

I was having issues with my car battery dying and they ran a diagnostics and told me it was my battery and not my alternator. So they replaced my battery for $260 and 2 days later my battery died again. I took it back to them and they said it must've been a faulty battery and kept my car overnight to make sure there wasn't a parasitic draw. 2 days after that my battery died again. After weeks of trying to figure this out I took my car to the dealership and they said it was my alternator and replaced it, now my car is working again. While it's possible this was an honest mistake, it was deeply frustrating and disappointing to spend money and time I didn't have to on this. I will not be taking my car back there.Service: Battery

I mainly work on my own vehicles, but when the job is too much for me or if I want someone I can trust, I take them to Dan. Hands down the most honest, fair and knowledgeable mechanic you could ask for. Highly recommend to all my friends and family.

I have been here three times. All three times were oil changes. Simple I assumed but, first time they didn t put any on my dust guard bolts back in and then tried to blame me for pulling over a curb.. now I m under my hood and it appears they just take bolts when they need them because my battery is missing a bolt and the opposing side tightened down to compensate. Never going back again. Another I can t figure out is why if I get a high mileage oil change I m supposed to be back after 3000 miles? In the past 3 years I ve owned my car every high mileage oil change I ve received has had a 5000 mile gaureentee.
