My car broke down on 3/13/24 at 1ish pm. Had it towed and was recommended Billy s automotive. They did a free estimate. Called and explained what happened and seemed very educated on the parts and were able to explain to me what probably happened before my car even broke down due to the damage they had seen. Gave me an estimate on price with labor, parts, and tax. I got my car in tip top shape at 4:50 pm on 3/14/24. ONE DAY!!! Amazing. Definitely recommend. And the staff i interacted with was very kind.

Great and honest service! I took my car here for an unknown issue and Billy's was able to quickly diagnose my vehicle with a failing transmission. Although it was not worth fixing on my ancient car, Billy's was honest and upfront with me and did not charge a diagnostic fee. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an honest mechanic service - will be taking my future service here!

Billy is great and student friendly. His business choses to have integrity when it comes to clients who may not know much about the vehicle they are driving! He has saved me a lot of money when it comes to managing my car.

Billy's was amazing. My daughter got her car back very quickly and is now able to drive home for Thanksgiving. Ford was gonna keep it for weeks before even doing a diagnostic for what turned out to be an easy fix. He's an honest and caring person. Can't recommend enough!

Billy s Auto Repair & Towing is the only shop I trust.I ve got a Ford Thunderbird that required some diagnostics. Most shops wouldn t even take it due to its age & rarity. Billy took the job & had it ready to go faster than you can get a call back from most other places. My family has been using his shop for years now, & in my home, Billy s name is synonymous with trustworthiness & integrity.He ll let you know what can be done, what requires specialty work, & what an honest price range would be. With Billy s Auto Repair & Towing, you really have an expert of the trade in your corner doing things the right way, the way things should be done.I wouldn t take my car anywhere else without consulting Billy first. His shop is a rare gem.

They fixed our old toyota sienna which was sold to us by someone else with a rusted bottom, which made the fixing of the exhaust and right wheel boot very difficult, and it s running like new again. We are so relieved. It s just what you would expect from a place ran by its owners. They are honest and try to help you as much as possible. It s the second Japanese car we bring here and will not take them anywhere else. I paid for their services but I feel like I owe them more. Thanks Billy s!

I can t say enough good things about Robby from Billys Auto Repair and Towing. Tonight, my truck broke down in the middle of a busy road, and my insurance said a tow truck would be 70-100 minutes away. After less than 5 minutes on the road, Robby saw I was stopped and pulled over to get me out of the busy road and into the parking lot, and even offered to drop the truck at my house since I mentioned I was almost home. At this point I asked how much it would be to just tow it to the shop, and he gave me a fair price so we just towed it straight there. Besides getting me out of the road for free since he cared about my safety, he turned a long and stressful situation into a short and much less stressful situation. Highly recommend this business, and thank you so much Robby!

I don t know their mechanical skills but first time going there I had zero idea It would take up to 2 days to even take a look at the car. I m giving a 1 star due to the very poor costumer service, with lack of information on my part and lack of a positive engagement when I first walked in. I am a new person who came in on word of mouth but I will not share this place with anyone. My advice, be friendlier to people who come in trying to find a decent mechanic.

Gainesville s Auto ER on Archer told me that both my front and rear brakes needed replaced ASAP. Billy s was going to be a better price, so I brought my car in there for the replacements. Billy called me and let me know that I had over 50% life on my rear brakes and over 30% life on my front brakes. He assured me that there was no reason to replace the brakes at this point and charged me nothing!

I went to Billy s to get my car fixed and as someone who s not from Gainesville and is a student I wasn t sure where to go but Billy made sure to take good care of my car! It wasn t running well when I took it in and he had my car ready very fast and from the moment I turned on the car I felt the difference!! It runs amazing now and I will be taking my car in the future if I have any other problems!!

A seriously nice guy. I needed help and posted on Facebook's Gainesville Word of Mouth group and he responded that he could. He totally came through for me and I appreciate that he did. He's a busy guy bcz he and his family and friends run a the business. That he took the time and resources meant everything to me. I spent months trying to figure out a solution and he fixed everything up in one day. I'll be back! My van will need some service soon. Thanks!

HONEST MECHANICS DO EXIST! We've taken our Jeep to several different places in Gainesville and were so discouraged. We've been told they couldn't find anything wrong, they've fixed it (they didn't), they looked and think X is the issue but didnt have time to fix it (wasnt even the right issue), the list goes on. All of these places said they'd call to update us (they didn't), most kept our vehicle for well over a week before even looking at it. Then we found BILLY! This family owned and run business has been around for over 50 years! We took our Jeep in on a Wednesday and had a proper diagnosis by Thursday afternoon. It was fixed and ready that Tuesday. We've finally found an honest mechanic and can't thank them enough for taking such good care of us. We highly recommend this business!!

My granddaughter is a student at UF and had a problem with her car just a few days before driving to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. The Ford dealership said it would be two weeks before they could even make an appointment for her. Billy s took her car immediately, repaired it in one day and did not charge her anything. I can t imagine any better customer service anywhere! I highly recommend them for your Auto Repair needs!! Plus I have peace of mind knowing her car is safe to drive to Nana's house!!!

So I just bought this conversion van in southern Florida. And I'm gonna drive it back to Appleton WI. Van was running like a champ and then. Boom. It shut off. I called Billy's auto repair. They came over with there brand new roll back. Loaded up me and the van. Took us to their shop. The driver had called ahead so there were 2 mechanics waiting to get rite on my van. Within an hour they had me back on the road again. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. Thank you guys. .

This review is late, but several months ago Billy helped me figure out a strange issue with the start mechanism in my car. He was attentive and generous and even made sure I could pick my car up on the weekend when they were closed. You want someone like Billy to work on your car problems, he knows so much more than most dealership technicians. Thanks so much!!

Brought my Mazda 3 here for a diagnostic due to engine roughness. Very polite staff working at the front. Unfortunately, Billy was unable to diagnose my car and advised me to take it to the dealership. That being said, he was extremely professional and informative about what he did see going on with my vehicle, and did not charge me anything for the inspection. While the car was not able to be repaired here, I will certainly keep this shop in mind for future auto repair needs!

I just moved to Gainesville a little over a year ago and have used a few mechanics around town. Most of them would tell you anything to get money out of you. Billy s however is the first honest, trustworthy mechanic I ve met in this town. Another place had my truck a week and couldn t figure out the problem. Billy s had it less than 8 hours and figured it out. Not only that but he thought it was the mass airflow sensor so he ordered one and installed it. But after realizing that wasn t the issue, he put the old one back in and didn t even charge me. What other shop would have done that? Most likely none. Don t waste your time anywhere else Billy s will take care of all of your automotive repair/towing needs!!!!

BEST PLACE TO GET YOUR CAR FIXED!! As a women I have always been susceptible to auto repair shops, BILLY HOWEVER WAS THE BEST!! He was very patient at explaining my issues and took the time to fix it!!! I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK HERE!! The place is amazing, the people are honest and overall I felt taken cared of. I LOVE this place! Billy is quite literally the nicest human I have ever met. He truly cares about his customers and doing what is best for them. He always keeps it real and is never just in for the money. His prices are great and he offers a student discount, which is AMAZING. He has always helped me and done what was right with my car, and I always tell my friends to go to him. His staff is kind and super helpful. They are quick but effective, and I never have to worry about things going wrong here. I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is!!

I had my car towed to Billy's with possible steering and belt problems, and the team at Billy's quickly checked out my car and called to let me know they didn't find any issues with it. The owner communicated professionally and responded quickly to the message I left, keeping me updated on everything happening with my car. The team had my car for one day and performed a thorough review, letting me know to call them if the steering stops working again.If I encounter any car problems in the future I am 100% going back to Billy's; they have the best service I have experienced in Gainesville.

My daughter went to a gas station late at night to fill up her tire and then realized it was flat. She was starting to panic since she is clueless on changing a tire and then she saw a tow truck at the gas station. My wife had her go ask to see if we could pay him to put her donut on the car and he agreed. My daughter thinks his name was Bobby or Robbie, she can't remember. Long story short, this man did so and then wouldn't take any money from us. This man was a godsend for my daughter and we are so grateful to him. I told my daughter if we ever need to get any service done to her car while she's in Gainesville, we will be using this company for sure!!!Service: Tires

I was traveling back from Florida to Texas and my alternator went out! I called Billy and they got me towed to their shop, fixed my truck and had it back to me in 2 days. Price was fair and they were great to work with through everything. It s good to find honest mechanics when you re so far from home! Can t recommend these guys enough!

I'd just topped off my gas, picked up lunch, and got some lottery tickets, a trifecta despite a major hurricane headed our way, but turned out it was a third strike because my car's shifter busted, leaving me stranded in Park at the BP on SW Archer Rd.Called my wife and she called Bobby at Billy's Auto Repair and Towing. Just around 10 minutes later he arrived (at about 4:45pm even though they close at 5, what a kindness!!) but unfortunately with a flatbed. No matter, though, he took a look through my angry attempts to crack open the shifter assembly and saw that a cheap PLASTIC bushing had cracked and come apart.After we both grumbled about cheap plastic everything these days, Bobby was able to use a Leatherman tool I had handy to walk me through carefully holding a metal part of the bushing in place with it in one hand and putting the car in gear with the other, and I was able to shift and head home with no problems so my vehicle would be safe in my driveway instead of out in the open.Bobby did this huge favor for my wife and I, so we intend to show our appreciation by bringing my car in for that along with routine and major repairs (once the storm passes, that is).It's been a rough few years for me and mine, but Bobby's kindness was a bright spot I won't forget!

Decent, honest family run business with exceptional service.My daughter's car had a loose metal sound coming from the undercarriage when driving at higher speeds. As she is new to the area, we wanted to have it looked at before I left to head home to Canada.I dropped the vehicle off with Chad in the morning. Later that after noon I spoke to Billy. He and another mechanic had both driven and checked the car. They identified one source of the problem and explained that it was not at all a safety issue, just more of an annoyance. When we returned to pick the car up, we met Billy in person. He is a salt of the earth, honest and kind business owner. I had selected his shop based on Google reviews and it being a small family run business. We are from a small town in Ontario and always prefer to support local, small businesses. Billy did not charge me for the inspection. He offered good sound advice and provided me a report. He also introduced us to his daughter, of similar age to mine and insisted that if my daughter ran into any trouble, to call his shop and they would look after her.If you are looking for an auto shop with honest, hard working people who won't take advantage of you, take your vehicle here. For all of you out-of-town parents like me, I can't recommend Billy's enough!! He will be our trusted mechanic for the rest of the time our daughter is a student at UF. Based on prior reviews, I picked Billy's to tow her car after it would not run and left her stranded on campus after the holiday break. You never know if you can trust a mechanic, especially when you're not there in person to speak with them, but he quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem within about 24 hours. He was very good at explaining the problem and the options, as well as the pricing, and he did not "try to sell" me or recommend things the car didn't need. In the end, I really enjoyed the experience of interacting with Billy (when do you say THAT about an auto repair place???) and can't recommend him enough. He was fast, reasonably priced, and the towing was free, which was great since we live in Fort Lauderdale and had no way of getting our daughter's car to a shop.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Car towing
