I am very disappointed with my experience at Pop s Auto Electric & AC . I brought in a 2019 Chevy Silverado to have an engine rebuild . Joe quoted me $7200 for a rebuilt motor. Had the work done back in March of 2023. Truck sat for 4-5 months before I was able to have it on the road again. Joe/owner boasts the truck runs phenomenal and brand new. I drove it and it started making odd thumping noises after a few days . I brought it back to have him look at it before I go on a business trip with my rebuilt truck . Joeassures me the vehicle is fine and should run me zero issues . 2 1/2 hours I get into the first city in Georgia and the engine seized and I had to pay 1200 out of pocket to have my truck transported back to his shop. What an inconvience and costly situation that caused me. Not to mention I had to pay for a friend to come up here with his vehicle just so I could conduct my business. I arrive back and try to figure out a solution and possible reimbursement for the situation he caused me. Joe/ owner exact words were we can look over it and try to see what happened or we can settle it in court . That obviously didn t make me feel secure or valued as a customer. I let him fix his mistake another 3-4 months goes by and I finally get my truck back. After driving that week the truck started making some worry some knocking noises and Joe/owner couldn t explain what the issue was and blamed it on the front end suspension. I brought it to another mechanic and told me nothing was wrong the front end and also notified me of an oil leak coming from the bottom end of the motor . I took it back to Joe and his team and he gave a puzzled look like he didn t know why it was leaking. Spent another month working on the truck , got the truck back only to keep having issues with misfires and so on. This is ridiculous considering the amount of money I ve spent with their business and the unreliable work that was done on the vehicle . I wouldn t dare to come back even with the warranty because it s been a complete nightmare every time I have to take my truck back there. If I could save anyone from a total disaster , I would not bring your vehicle to get maintanence / repair at this shop.

This review deserves attention, especially for those who value supporting small businesses and rely on honest service. I've been a strong advocate of small businesses and often grant 5-star reviews to those who truly deserve them. Most small businesses go above and beyond to earn such recognition. However, my experience with Joe and his team at Pops Auto Electric & AC has compelled me to write my first-ever one-star review. Their lack of integrity was truly astounding.I initially had Pops install an engine in my car, but it soon began smoking heavily. I immediately had it towed back to their shop, where the ordeal began. They diagnosed the issue as a hose leading to the radiator, and I was relieved, thinking it was a simple fix. Simultaneously, I had ordered a convertible top and agreed to their set price for installation upon its delivery. However, I received a call stating that I also needed a water pump replacement because it was allegedly broken. I questioned the timing of both parts failing, and they insisted it was a coincidence. I reluctantly agreed to proceed.Later, I received another call claiming that the top I had delivered was also damaged. I contacted the supplier who assured me they had taken meticulous care in packaging the top. They emailed me several pictures which I sent over to Pops as evidence but received no response from Pops. When I visited the shop, the mechanic working on my top admitted the part was indeed broken. I asked him to simply close the convertible top for now, He agreed. Then came yet another call, informing me that I needed a new starter. I questioned this, as I had not experienced any starter issues. Joe justified it, saying it's a common occurrence, and offered a "wholesale" price for the part and installation. He said $250 for the starter and $150 for install My bill had already climbed to $1,030 before this call. When I finally got the call that my car was ready, the bill amounted to $1,498 as anticipated with the last part. (This will be important a little later in the review)Upon picking up my car, I was handed the keys and told it was parked across the road. Excited to finally have my car back, I attempted to start it, but it wouldn't turn on. I returned to the shop and found the same mechanic. What happened next is almost unbelievable. He casually asked, "Not starting?" and tried to start the car, only to then inform me that the engine was shot due to overheating when it smoked earlier. I was incredulous, as we had just walked 300 feet to the car, and he acted surprised that it wouldn't start. Why didn't anyone inform me earlier? Did they want me to drive off, have the car break down, and wash their hands of the situation?I called Joe, questioning why I wasn't informed about the engine when the front desk staff called me. He shifted blame to the receptionist, claiming he had told her to relay the message. I asked why his mechanic lacked the integrity to inform me. Joe's response was astonishing; he deflected and claimed to have installed the starter for free, even though my bill had increased by nearly $500, just as he had quoted for parts and labor. This experience was riddled with lies, blame-shifting, and a complete lack of accountability. I eventually had to send a tow truck to bring my car home, losing a significant amount of money in the process. To add insult to injury, the convertible top was left open a few inches when I had paid for it to be closed upon delivery. My disappointment isn't just about the money I lost; it's about the utter lack of integrity displayed by this business. I'm not questioning Joe's mechanical skills, even a furniture thief who breaks into homes can efficiently move furniture and help you load your U-Haul truck if you had to move. . What I'm saying is, consider looking elsewhere for a mechanic, or be prepared to take a risk. You've been warned.

I had taken my Mother In Laws PT Cruiser to multiple shops and none were able to figure out what the problem was. 3 batteries, 1 alternator and a few other things later - we still had the same problem. Not only did Pops Auto find the issue and take care of it, they did it in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. I highly recommend them especially for electrical related issues.

I was referred to this shop by a relative. I was very pleased with the service overall. The shop was in a good location and had a good sized lot. In regards to customer service everyone was very attentive and nice. The main Mechanic/Owner Joe was very knowledgeable. The few other mechanics I seen looked very professional. The garage/work bays itself looked very clean and tighty. Price was above fair. I would not let any of the negative reviews keep you from giving them a shot. So, Joe is the owner. He really does work to give the best prices and service. He just repaired our Ram 1500- Ac and 2 exhaust manifolds. I just picked it up today. We did have a little issue with the brake light switch because the clip became damaged when they repaired the AC. There was no way to know this until it was driven a good distance. I picked up the truck about 5pm (on a Friday!) and went possibly 5 miles and had to turn around and return. They were already closed and he put on his going home clothes. He was ready to get out of there. However, Joe saw me pull in and gave me 100% of his time and effort to make sure that everything was perfect. He jumped in his car, ran to the store for a replacement piece, and put it in while the shop was closed. He apologized profusely and was actually concerned that I was dissatisfied with the overall job he had completed. Joe, I m not dissatisfied... you have made a customer for life. I am sorry your weekend had to start late, but I appreciate your professionalism!Services: Exhaust, Air conditioning

Needed to get my Dash lights and Running lights fixed, and they delivered! Joe helped me out while I waited and he was exceptional in his service! He even allowed me to see the work they were doing to repair my electrical issue. Its an amazing family feel and the workers are very pleasant to speak to while they were working on my vehicle. Lymarie was very sweet and the overall experience was fantastic! Thanks again to Joe and Lymarie for the incredible service, as well as the boys who fixed my truck in the back!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Electrical

This mechanic is a straight up SCAM!! He is completely ignorant on how to troubleshoot a basic car such as a PT cruiser. This mechanic charged me over 2500 in repairs and in the end he said no mechanic can fix this car. He just gave up. I took it to a reputable mechanic across the street from his shop and got it fixed for 200 bucks and it was just a sensor. The mechanic was hella rude and said that it isn't fixable after he charged me 2500 bucks. I highly recommend you do not use this guy. If you look at other reviews he does the same to multiple people. It's either he is scamming or he is a ignorant mechanic. There isnt any way around it. If he can't figure out a economy American car. I really wouldn't trust him to work on any vehicleServices: Electrical, Auto engine diagnostic, Brakes

AVOID THIS SCAM SHOP. INEXPERIENCED MECHANICS.I went to this shop they charged me and soon as I step in the car to start it it fails. They asked me to leave it longer. They charged me again. I go to start car it fails instantly. They say leave it again they will take care of it. I come back they charge me again. I go to start car it fails. I got charged 3 times without leaving the lot. They tell me it is a ghost issue no mechanic in the world could fix this car...I took it to another mechanic and got it fixed for 90% cheaper and it was done right.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I've been coming here for a while now, and the team is always friendly, the prices are great compared to other car shops locally, and they do their best to work with you and get you out in a timely manner. It's always better to have an appointment since they are a small locally owned business, but it's not always necessary if you come early. Thanks guys!

$1300 to replace a compressor on a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I was given a price, then called 2 hours later and given a higher price because they had ordered the wrong part? The car s air was done and works great and has a lifetime warranty. Be patient when you arrive, they may not be available to assist you right away. The front desk woman/(maybe Owner) was amazing. Great place, just seems very expensive. But happy with the service.

I accidentally shorted out a wire and tried to fix it for 2 days with no luck. I brought the car in, Joe (the owner) looked at it and had it fixed within a couple hours at a good price... very polite and helpful, told me exactly what happened and what he was doing. I would definitely recommend pops!

I went here with my husband to fix my daughter's car and I ended up with no car and $900 less in my packet. The owner asked for an advanced of $400 and assured my husband the repairs would not be more than $1200. Then a week after asked my husband for another $500 to be able to "finish the work". When my husband went to pick the car up he asked him for way more money than the maximum amount he had tell him it was going to be. The guy is totally dishonest and rude. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

I went to four auto shops to ask about my auto electrical problem, two recommended pops auto. I went to the place to check it out. Looked like things were getting done. Brought my pt cruiser in for headlight electrical issues. They fixed it right away at a reasonable cost. The owner Joe is nice to work with.

Great experience for me, took my older Lincoln in with dash board electrical problems. I really thought I had to finally part with the old Town Car, but no, Joe is some kind of a magician I guess. He found the problem, was not the computer just some old wires shorted out. Price was reasonable and now everything works. I am really happy and now I can keep my nice big Town Car with everything working. While I was there he also changed the fluids and that was a better price than I had paid at one of those Jiffy Lube places. I will be back!

STOLE my radiator cap while I brought my car into the shop to have my tail light fixed. They told me that it got "stolen" over night while in their care, however there is no evidence of someone prying my locked hood open. My car was smoking when I got back home. DO NOT go here!! Don't even risk it. Not worth the expense and also they charge you $140 the second you want anything done.

I'm sitting in pops auto electric right now, this is my third visit. I traveled 30miles here from sanford and 30miles back. I end up paying 4.00 in tolls each time. I paid 240$ on the first visit to get one day of success with the work they did. I had to come back a second time and they blew my electrical computer and told me the part was 700$, I went and bought the part my self and came back a 3rd time. Let me add, each visit I had to wait in the waiting room for at least 3 hours or more each time. All I want is my car fixed. I walked outside to see if they were working on the car. I find it running with no one in it. I go back out 20 minutes later and the car is still running. I definitely will not be coming back here.

They don't know how to troubleshoot they only replace parts. Ended up spending near 3k on a repair that never fixed the problem. Mechanic informed me that nobody in the world can fix my car. Yet the shop across the street from them laughed and fixed my car for free. HJoe is a scammer.Service: Auto engine diagnosticService: Auto engine diagnostic

Walked in, and got a weird look from an older man, I assume the owner. He definitely had an attitude, asked about an oil change price ..I told him I had a Ford ranger, he interrupts me saying let me finish, so at that point I told him he had an attitude and walked out. Bad vibes altogether, will not be back. No customer service skills. All I was looking for was an oil change price, and the worst part he was referred by a friend.

Very disappointed, took my car in to have an electrical problem and an AC issue looked at - in their defense I had two other shops look at my car's electrical problem only to tell me it was outside of their expertise.I work full time during their business hours so I called two days beforehand and essentially made an appointment to leave my car overnight so they can look at it first thing in the morning. I never receive a call the next day. By noon I inquire and they still need more time... Ok.Across the span of four days they never called me, I had to call them to find out the status of my car only to get no update.(One the third day the phone literally rang with no answer at 4pm, an hour before they close. Three days later, they still have my car and no one is answering my calls nor has called me)Nonetheless if you can't fix or diagnose it in three days, you're probably not going to be able to fix it at all.I call to pick up my car on the fourth day, they said fine, it'll be ready by close to be picked up.I arrive 13 minutes before close - nobody is at the desk to assist.I wait the full 13 minutes until their closing time, then just walk up to my car. All doors unlocked, my key in the ignition, transmission in neutral and the parking brake is not set...Needless to say, I took my car.I find out later a window I had kept shut because the regulator was acting up, they further damaged (after taking the door apart it's clear it wouldn't roll up, so they continued to hold the up button while it further grinded/twisted/damaged the regulator cables.) after they were done with it, the window would not even stay in the closed position as it had before.Under the hood, bolts to one of my sensors and the engine cover plate were missing from the engine bay. Not sure why they would tell me it would be ready when it wasn't.So nothing resolved, parts are missing and they further damaged my window regulator.Until now, I have never taken my car to get repaired only to have it returned in worse condition. Also, they have never met me. I dropped my car off while they were closed. If they even saw me take the vehicle, they wouldn't know I was the proper owner. To be expected no one has called me to let me know my vehicle was stolen from their property or to confirm that I'm the one who picked it up (or return the parts they retained).Would not recommend, they specialize in electric and AC, the two issues I brought it in for - that they did not resolve.

Took our car into Pops as it had a few issues, main one being that our suspension was going out. Was told by the owner that they could not source any local parts to fix, no big deal - found what we needed online and had it ordered/shipped to his store. After getting the car back we discovered that they STOLE the new parts and replaced them with used parts! This guy was supposed to be a friend of the family.. This place is a joke. You will NOT be getting any business from us in the future and I've gone out of my way to tell my story to others that were considering leaving their vehicles in your grimy hands.

So, So, SO disappointed my wife took her car there and wow they jumped on that no one else could find the problem but they did aaa not so much. Charge her $300 for what they said was the problem and it wasn't. brought the car back to them because they asked . They could not find the problem remember now we already paid $300 for what they said was the problem and they still could not find it. Joe the owner drove her car around but still could not find the problem remember the $300 we already paid. Oh get this Joe the owner no I'm sorry, no hey we were wrong, hey we will just take the $300 for no reason because you still have the same problem you can in with but who cares your a women and I got you. So have a good day and I got 300 reason to be happy. You go here grab your ankles!

All I will say is a man named Allen seriously needs to be retrained or fired. Extremely rude on the phone. I have never been to this location and was referred but after that experience I will look elsewhere.UpdateThis is an update to your response message as it will not let me actually replied to it directly. But why on earth would I bring my vehicle to your location for servicing after you were extremely rude to me on the phone? You never get a second chance at a first impression always remember that...

Horrible customer service!! Dropped off my Tacoma on a Thursday morning to have brake lights fixed and was told it would be done by 3:30pm that day. I called at 5:30pm to check and no one answered. I left a message and never received a call back. Friday morning by 11am I STILL had not received a call or message or anything!! I called around lunch and was told it was finished on Thursday! Customer service is an absolute joke here and no one ever apologized when I picked up the truck Friday for the lack of communication or being LATE on when they said it would be done. Charged me full price for everything. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Walked in without an appointment, and about 1.5 hours later my truck was blowing cold air again. Had a service port that was leaking. Owner/manager sat down with me and they got it done. The coffee is strong too.
