What a hidden gem! I am Native to Fl and love finding places like this. Cabins were a good size, my family had the 2 bed 2 bath. Loved the carport under each unit. Fishing was great even though it was off the dock. The back porch is so nice to sit out and enjoy the water view... only issues are the the wall units are loud you don't enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature AND all three of the wall units blow HOT AIR on the porch, it is hot enough without them so it can make it extra hot. Hopefully that can be an easy fix. We had to sit out on front porch to get a nice cool breeze which was entertaining to people watch at least. Each towel we opened in the bathroom and the dish towels had spots of some sort on them. As if they had not been washed.Front office and other staff, extremely nice! Such a quaint town, quaint cabins.....i def want to go back!

My friend and I loved our stay here and didn't want to leave! There is a covered carport with easy access to our room upstairs. The room is spacious, clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the screened in patio overlooking the water. The resort is pet-friendly, the staff were very helpful and nice and there are canoes and bikes available to use at no charge. A lovely slice of Old Florida in Everglades City and we look forward to a return trip!

What a hidden gem this place is. If you're looking for a Hilton or a Hyatt...this place is not for you!! If you're looking for a VERY clean, quiet, comfortable vacation ... this is the spot. The view is wonderful and the folks running the motel are kind and friendly. We have stayed at the other establishments in the area and we would return to River Wilderness Hans down.Thank you for a great experience. You will see us again

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Every room has its own covered parking spot below, the room is big, nicely prepared for guests and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped, there are bathroom amenities, the (screened) porch is large and has a great view. In January the mosquitos and the heat are not a problem, but the AC would be quite loud. Checking in and out was a breeze. I can fully recommend this place.

Right on the water so you could drive your boat up! (I don't have a boat). Screened in porch off the back so you can look out over the water a must do to the bugs). Clean and pretty spacious unit with living room, eating area, small kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Cold air conditioning. Can make ice in the freezer. Good bed and shower pressure. No hair dryer though. Didn't see any alligators but saw frogs, lizards and crabs. Stay was in late August.

Rustic cabin type place in the heart of Everglades City, which at the time we visited consisted of one restaurant open for dinner. So my expectations were low. But this was a charming stay. Beautiful sunrise views from the private large screened in deck, and quiet nights overlooking the water. We were able to SUP right from the dock in our backyard. The basic room supplies were provided. Comfortable spacious rooms. Loud AC units, but I m not used to window AC units like that. Seamless check-in and check-out. Thank you for the stay!

I was super pleased with this choice of weekend getaway. It was quiet and had a beautiful lake view from porch where I got to watch an alligator swim down the river. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. The town is as small and quaint as it gets. Real down home people who are as nice as can they can be. We at the end of season and so it was not too tourist busy which was what I wanted.

Good basic cabins - excellent view of the water- saw several small schools of dolphins and a few alligators from the balcony. Friendly staff - on a fun note the porch fan is mounted upside down so it sucks instead of blows - interesting engineering there- really worth the visit

Really enjoyed our stay here. Very tranquil. Kitchen, living room, and enclosed porch adds to the vacation vibe. View of the glades in the back is nice. They have canoes too. Recommend staying some time to soak in the pace of the glades. Make sure to bring your own grocery as town has very limited options.

Great visit! Clean though dated cabins with a great view and very convenient to other businesses. Plenty of amenities, great customer service. As a side note, if you're even remotely considering staying at the Rod and Gun Club in town, don't! That place is a disaster.

Great fishing from the dock out back. Beautiful views off the back screened in porches overlooking the water. The staff from office to room service/cleaning are exactly what you look for in hospitality, good conversations and feeling welcome as if you are home. This place is the perfect getaway on a small island and lots of fishing!!!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin was cozy and had all the amenities we needed (except a throw blanket for the rare Florida night it got down into the 40s!) We didn t get to enjoy many of the amenities, but hope to visit again someday. The screened in porch is the best! Not a luxury stay, but cozy, clean, and convenient.

This was a basic, roomy apartment style villa in Everglades City. The location was perfect for visiting Gulf Coast Visitor Center at Everglades National Park. The villa has a screened in porch on Lake Placid. There is a galley style kitchen. There is a pool available at a neighboring motel. We loved the free canoes and bikes. Mosquitos can be bad depending on the wind. The staff are very nice and helpful.

This is THE place to stay in Everglades City. We enjoyed the villa in front of the water, 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed in living room. Large terrace to admire the sunrise over the river with tables and chairs and protected with a mosquito net. All equipment to make our own dinner. At check in the lady way extremely nice and gave us lots of explanations on the region. We enjoyed some time using the available canoes. This is definitely a place I would get back to!AC a bit noisy

Several of the other reviews mentioned dated but clean. That is definitely true. It's a great place that we will definitely stay in again. Yes it's kinda like stepping back into the 80s but who cares! It's got everything you need a clean bed, clean bathroom, clean kitchen and clean living room. The views are beautiful, overlooking the water from your screened in porch. The woman that helped us "Jay" was extremely helpful! She recommended restaurants, things to do, etc.... Super friendly people.

Spacious and right on the water. We enjoyed sitting on the enclosed porch. We were so happy to have laundry facilities. The pool isn t on site - about a two block walk away - but it was clean and had chairs and tables.

I'm gonna go 4 stars. I have to deduct 1 star due to the fact I had to plunge the toliet when I got there. Plus, I didn't shower for 2 days due to the age of the shower drain & shower head. We can leave it there. The staff are super friendly. If ur looking for peace & quiet, this place is for u. Everglades City is far from city life. These folks get up early, and shut down early. Most everything in this town is mom & pop. Bring ur own groceries unless ya wanna pay $4 for bread. All in all, I do think this hotel needs a face-lift. My shower & one of the chairs in cabin 8 could use some attention.I do recommend this hotel for its spacious floor plans, scenic views, and peace & quiet. Children wouldn't have fun here.Oh, and bring ur bicycle.

Very scenic view of flowing river from the deck on the 2nd floor where you could have family breakfast and dinner, protected from mosquito bites but can still enjoy breeze outdoors. Very clean and tidy rooms. The road bordering the villas doesn t have much traffic, providing a tranquil and uninterrupted time. Manager, Jane, is kind and considerate enough to recommend museums and Marco island south beach. Thanks Jane. I am Jimmy from South Korea.

They need to clean it a little better, I found dishes were put away dirty, thank God I looked before drinking out of a glass. They also charge $50 if you don't do your own dishes, maybe they should do their dishes. Also $20 per hour if you want a late checkout. Hmmm...I'm surprised they didn't try to charge me for AC, the place is overpriced in general, but they do have free bikes and canoes and the staff was very helpful. They do need to clean better, more than just floors and surfaces.

Wonderful cabin with bedroom, kitchen and living space, also a screened porch adjacent to the river. We had a great time there.
