I like to try hotels that are off the beaten path and potentially unique. Every once in a while, a gem like the Port Hotel pops up. This is as "Old Florida" as it gets, small hotel is located right on the water in Crystal River, with great morning views from a large window and a nice patio to enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. This is a popular area for "swimming with the Manatees" tours, and tour boats and swimmers can be seen at all times of the day just across the water near Banana Island. Manatees, bald eagles, and other wildlife are right there in front of your hotel room. Rooms are simple but show attention to cleanliness and maintenance. Restaurant, bar, and watercraft rentals are located on the property.

Beautiful view, amazing staff, great restaurant. Lowkey for sure, but that's what we wanted. I can say it was one of my best vacations ever! One guy stood out, sorry my mind forgot his name, tall, brown hair, and everywhere, he was always busy!! He was so helpful, as everyone was! I hope we didn't drive him nuts. Bought wetsuit for 20 bucks, used but great for our devil's den adventure. Loved!!!Nearby activities: Went kayaking at their recommended, nearby place. Loved it!Walkability: The restaurant is on site!!Food & drinks: The food was amazing!!! The drinks were the best ever!!Noteworthy details: Beautiful, manatee sightings everywhere!!

Pretty run down. Windows filthy, leak in ceiling of 2nd floor unit. Sink removed from bathroom. Stains on floor and futon. No effort to fix or repair. See pics. I realize you get what you pay for but I've stayed in 39 dollar a night motels that were better maintained and cleaner than this place. Surprised health inspectors haven't shut the place down. Stay at your own risk

This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed in Florida. The price was good but after my girlfriend checked us in we found out why. There were people hanging out asking for money and the rooms were dirty . I will never be back and wouldn t recommend .Safety: Poor safety . Potholes everywhere and people hanging out asking for money.

I m sorry but this is one of the nastiest places I ever stayed. There s obvious water damage from leaks in the ceiling and wall, it smells awful, and needs to be updated asap. Not to mention the customer service from the front desk was just plain rude. Stay away from this place. My boyfriend booked this and got a good deal on it, but it s not worth the discount. Spend a little more and get a nicer place.

The rooms are dated and have evidence of water staining but it was quiet enough for a good night of sleep. I had a corner room and had to close all blinds completely to block out the security lights around the marina and property. When I arrived, I wanted over a half hour for some to come into the office to check me in and provide a key.The location is great. I had dinner in the on-property restaurant with great food and watching sunset over the water.

We had went to the hotel expecting nice people and kindness especially with 2 disabled men who had no place to live. We checked in on Dec 29th 2023 and stayed for 9 days. We had to contact someone to help us pay for the day we missed and an extra day. On January 2nd, we were told by the ( what we thought ) the nicest manager we met, but turned into a catastrophe. My check had come in the day we were going to pay extra until we found a place, it started out good , we thought we made good friends with 2 of the girls we met and they turned against us. The manager told us they were tired of getting lied to and this had happened to them before , and was told that we had overstayed our welcome at their hotel. We had originally paid over a thousand dollars to stay here had I fell down their stairs and they did nothing about it.This hotel had wonderful hospitality and service but the management and Manager was very rude to us and we were told that they will never rent to us again. Our stay was miserable and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome.

We came to this hotel in 2020 for vacation and ended up moving here in less than a year! We stayed in building B on the second floor, and loved it! We stayed in B17 every time we visited, three times total, and the last time was for the closing of our home in Crystal River. I would give it 5 stars if they didn't destroy the swimming pool and the third building. The location is awesome and there's a really nice restaurant, very expensive though. They also have a launch and a kayak rental.Rooms: Very spacious, but a little outdatedNearby activities: Kayaking, snorkeling, biking

If you read no further, this is old and neglected.Other than location and nice enough staff, there is nothing redeemable about this hotel. As far as room, upkeep or amenities, a comparable hotel would be a red roof inn or roadway inn with about a 2.5 customer rating. The first room the toilet was not bolted and leaked all over the bathroom. The second room had just been smoked in and after we went to the third room the front desk had gone by to open the doors to air it out for the next unsuspecting customer. They will say we are 100% non smoking and no one smokes in our rooms. It's not true because they attract nasty smokers and smoker's will always smoke where they are not supposed to.Thread bare sheets and bead spreads, the kind you would expect at the Bates motel. Neutrogena soaps. Poor plumbing fixtures. Old furniture. Not a clean smell anywhere in the hotel. Cheapest TVs you could buy directly from China where the sound is so bad you can't understand the audio or words. No toilet roll holder. Bright lights right outside your door attracting thousands of bugs which go right in your room at night. AC can't keep up with Florida heat above 90 or when cooler at night. They still use keys and not secure keys but the kind you can make at a key machine. Fridge with a thick crust of ice in undefrosted freezer. Ice machine requires quite a walk to the other side of the restaurant. Just miss the poor excuse for a breakfast and go to breakfast Station. The front desk excuse is "we have been here for a long time." Yes nothing but cheap patches to the property, everything else been there since the 1970s and rode hard. Things seem clean and the cleaning lady from Venezuela does a good job with what she has.All hotels in this area are bad, but this is near the bottom. Consider Best Western or Hampton but plantation is not much better than here.Take it or leave it attitude here and the hotel may have had only 2 to 4 rooms occupied while I was there. They don't seem to care or get how bad this place has become.I never asked for a $10 discount for the first days trouble. No accommodations for no room service even with the please clean room sign on door from 5:30 am.Nearby activities: We saw manatees swimming right from our room. The place is on the water. Short drive to anywhere. They have a marina with tours but hard to find and figure out who runs....Food & drinks: Restaurant and bar on site. Restaurant with the disgusting policy of adding 3% to pay with credit card service fried bar food with live music. After getting the 3% charge we just went elsewhere for our stay.

Water front views that allow pets and boats if you're traveling with a boat.Rooms: Rooms had fridge, microwave with a deck and view. Wifi and TV.Nearby activities: Restaurant is literally 10ft away with delicious food. There is also a gift shop within 10 ft amd you can schedule a manatee tour. Rent boats or kayaks for like 20 bucks.Walkability: This place is just convenient for the priceFood & drinks: I would suggest checking out rainbow springs, 30 min drive from here and only $2 per person to get in. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL water stays (at its lowest) 72 degrees year around. They also have kayak rentals there as well.

PROS-friendly knowledgeable front desk staff. Very nice view of the lake and good water pressure.CONS-It was dirty and smelly. Dryer sheets, hidden in furniture disguise the smell. furniture, broken and rusty. Mattress is so bad probably should ve slept in the car. linen. So old you could see through them. But not as thin as the walls in the ceiling. If I could find a way to post, the pictures we took, I would.

We knew it like was an old run down historic hotel by the reviews when we booked it. Yes the rooms are old & in desperate need of some TLC, but it was very clean to say the least. Every room is a water view room with fantastic sunset views. There's a restaurant & tiki bar steps from the room & a marina on site. We stayed here for the location & convenience of everything, the help were very kind & pleasant & our dog was welcomed. We will be & with our boat the next trip, we enjoyed NYE weekend there & ty!

This hotel has the perfect spot for its restaurant. You can't get a better view than this. The rooms are basic. Basically pretty clean. Could use a little more elbow grease but not bad. I came for the atmosphere not to grade the hotel against the Hilton. I had a great time. It would be easy to stay here longer. Sad to go. Got to keep my cat with me which was wonderful. I could not have left her at home so it wasn't a choice. We were both well behaved and did no damage. She drank out of my ice bucket which I didn't appreciate but those are the breaks. Overall a great time here. Wouldn't have gone somewhere fancier for anything. Will definitely be back. They do have some construction going on right now and it gets pretty noisy outside your balcony. Hopefully that will be gone soon.Second stay. Went to a local restaurant and had leftovers. I have a microwave but no utensils! Went down to the office to see if they had something. It's going on 7:00 a.m. Office is open but I didn't see anyone at first. Kim showed up from nowhere. Got me plastic fork and spoon. Yahoo! Don't care about Elvis just want my breakfast. Not true. I loved Elvis. Love this place. Please don't knock it down.

It's pretty good but the fridge makes so much noise. I don't like my balcony being over the restaurant. That's disturbing. Other rooms where more private. The room was clean !!!. The TV is too small and there is not a coffee maker . The balcony is big with nice views. The bed is fine. The bathtub is old. The rest is fine. The staff is nice. The restaurant not. Arrived yesterday, at 7pm I went to dine at the restaurant and they couldn't serve us dine in because they were busy one hour before closing. Over all, I would love to stay again. Crystal River is a friendly town . There is a nice place called Homosassa state park down the road that had manatees and other wildlife.

We enjoyed our stay. All staff we encountered from front desk to housekeeping were friendly. Rooms were clean. Yes, they show their age in some areas. Our room seemed to have been recently renovated. Room was bigger than expected! Views are amazing. We only stayed one night, but would stay again.
