I just wanted to share my experience with this company as the customer service and quality of parts is top notch.AJ who was the customer service rep that took on my order was extremely helpful throughout the process and answered all of my questions truthfully and honestly and helped me decide on which version of the head I wanted. Not only do they use OEM parts to remanufacture the heads, but he also assured me of the quality of all the options they sell and put my mind at ease.I live in Alaska, and was quoted very reasonable shipping, as well as a 1.5+ week lead time that ended up at my door with 6-7 days to spare of the quoted time. These guys seem to be a great team of individuals who strive to make their customers happy and get the quality parts they pay for. I would never look elsewhere for reman or new cylinder head needs, these gentlemen take the cake! Thanks a bunch AJ!Sincerely,Xavier Mora

I had heard they are one of the best places to get a head... not the case for me got it all put on just to find out the hole for the thermostat was not machined deep enough and the thermostat housing would not seal... where the hell is quality control at this place not sure how they allow something like that to go out the door. Had to spend another $100 to have a machine shop machine my thermostat housing to allow it to seal! Not happy at all never again will they get my business or anyone I know. Get it together clearwater!

Overall a great experience with Clearwater Cylinder Head. Every time I called with a question after ordering they picked up the phone and we helpful and pleasant (rare these days). My cylinder head arrived at my door 2 weeks after my order which is exactly as promised. The head was packaged well and there was no damage from shipping. The head was remanufactured (as expected) and all surfaces where super clean, all holes were tapped clean and the valves looked great. Had the head installed in a few hours and fired up with no issues. The price was really good as well. Good to know they also stand by their work with a great warranty. Highly recommend.Service: Engine repair

Company bullies other companies. They had 11 people leave false 1 star reviews on my mechanics page after he reached out for help from them. Seems like a bunch of children work here..Edit:After posting this I got 4 likes. Goes to show that I am being honest and the company is trash. This is a shady company that you should not buy from.Edit: called and asked them why they leave false reviews for companies they screw over.Had a newer employee sounded confused said he would ask the manager. Weeks latter still got false reviews. My mechanic has ALL 5 stars other than their false reviews. Gotta love a petty company.

I bought a head with a new casting from and had is shipped to the shop that was repairing my truck. The head arrived and the shop sent the old head back as required for the core. After installing the head the shop took it out for a road test and discovered the camshaft seal on the new head was leaking oil. The shop called me and told me of the problem. I had the shop call Clearwater Heads to see how they wanted to handle the problem. The shop was told because they were not the one who bought the head they were not going to anything, (the head vwas shipped to the repair shop). I called Clearwater and got the run around. All that needed to be done was to install a new seal correctly. After getting nowhere with Clearwater heads, the repair shop suggested we just replace the bad seal. The truck had already been in there shop for two weeks waiting on a head. I contacted Clearwater and told them what we were doing. This was the easiest solution since the head was already installed on the engine. The repair to the head cost me an additional $387.60 in parts and labor. I have been trying to contact them for a month now with no response. I offered to eat half of the repair on the head if they would eat the other half, no reply, nada.So how I am disputing the total charge on the head with my credit card company. Beware, they have no customer service, buy at your own risk. Giving me back $190 on the cost of a $675 head would have been the more than fair thing to do. I understand sometimes things go wrong and I was more than willing to eat half of the cost to fix their poor workmanship. As I said they have no customer service at all so how the total cost of the head is being disputed. It is nice that after a month of sending emails and a letter through the US Mail, it took a bad review to get someone to respond. Today I went down to the repair and spoke with the mechanic who installed the head. The head was shipped with no orange tag to call this to their attention. They assumed the head was rebuilt and ready to install. The end result is my truck is fixed and runs good but I an not happy it cost me an additional $378. I guess we can say both you and the installer both messed up. Your company for not putting a tag on it and the installer for assuming the head was complete. If you are putting that tag on there is a good reason you do. This is what happens when the tag is left off. This could have gone much easier if you had responded in a timely to the numerous emails I sent. You as a owner may be very concerned about customer service and reviews but it appears your employees are not.

Six Stars if I could give them. I have bought numerous heads from them over the years and have always been happy. One of my mechanics broke a cam bearing cap on a Chevy Aveo. An unobtainable part. I called Clearwater and talked to Kevin and explained the situation to Kevin. He Fed-Exed me the cap at no charge. Above and beyond the call.

So let me start off by saying i was extremely happy with my experience before receiving the product. Upon receiving my cylinder head, I get the box, crack that baby open (was patiently waiting for this to arrive) and the first thing I notice after taking it out of the box, that there s a big ol chunk from the corner folded over on to the mating surface, and then I look alittle closer and 3 of the 4 corners of the cylinder head are bashed in like someone dropped it repeatedly. Understandable, this isn t my first rodeo with damaged products. I contact the seller and I ll admit, pretty upset, basically expressing that I wasn t not at all pleased and would either like a refund or another cylinder head. I get a reply that doesn t include anything about how they re going to fix/make it right. They basically said go take it to a machine shop, it s not our fault, have a nice day. So now It s either send it back or go pay someone else to fix it. Now I 100% know that to fix it would probably take an hour and some chump change to get the head resurfaced. But that s not what I payed for in the first place. All I asked was it to be taken care of and they said just send it back after I asked if we could just have them pay the invoice for the head to be resurfaced. Good work and good customer service is hard to come by these days and usually it s one or the other, for these guys it s neither. Save your money, headache and most importantly time and buy from someone else. Not to mention I ve found about 10 small little fragments of metal all inside of the head, near camshaft and lifters. Even one piece on the intake valve. Pic #2As you can see No damage to the box. Pictures 5-8. And then they packaged it like it was a box of shoes, using the cardboard to take up the extra space of the box and not protecting the cylinder head. Picture # 9 and 10I was just happy to receive my money back so I could re-purchase else where

*******SECOND UPDATEThis guy's attitude says everything, doesn't it? And he's foolish enough to post this on the internet for everyone to see! Instead of accepting responsibility for his terrible customer service, he continues to try to blame me, going so far as to call me ignorant!Did I buy anything off of your website? Have I ever been to your website? No.I called you and had you look up a part for me over the phone, and I ordered it over the phone. Whatever it says on your website has nothing to do with our transaction. I personally asked you if there would be a one week wait period before it shipped, and you said no it's already been refurbished and it's ready to ship. I said "WOW! Really? Most places have a week wait time!"It was also 10:00 in the morning, which left plenty of time to get it ready. Why are you lying? I think I know why. Because your ego is clearly the largest part of your brain. I can't believe your business hasn't gone under yet. Good luck! You'll need it!****UPDATETheir response to my review is a complete LIE. I was never told of any one week rebuild period. I specifically asked about it and was told that the rebuild was already complete and it just needed to be shipped. Nice try, LIAR. And yes, I did place an order two days before your Christmas holiday. So what? What are you implying, that the shop doesn't do any work for the two days before the Christmas break? Why are you even open then? If you don't feel like working you can call in sick. Your holiday doesn't start for two more days. That literally means that you need to work for TWO MORE DAYS. I seriously can't believe you have the audacity to even bring that up. It's beyond unprofessional and completely childish. So now you DO get a 1-star review for trying to blame your incompetence on me. I am SO glad you didn't get any of my money.Original review:I don't give 1-star reviews because it's just vindictive.I did, however, receive 1-star service from Clearwater Cylinder Head.I canceled my order, even though I desperately needed a cylinder head that they had in stock- one of only a few left in the country, because they were SO RUDE to me over the phone.I ordered a cylinder head on a Thursday. The guy who I spoke to was a complete jerk( talking over me, not listening, acting uninterested, rushing me) but I let it slide because I really needed the part. The following Monday was going to be Christmas. I called back the next day, Friday, to get the tracking number, and they told me that it wasn't going to ship until Tuesday. When I asked why not, A.J. said "you're not ordering a pizza. This is a machine shop."Well excuse me, A.J. I didn't realize it took you 5 days to take a refurbished part off the shelf and hand it over to FedEx. Know why?Because it DOESN'T. The lazy jerk decided he wasn't doing any work until after the holiday. I'm surprised he even answered the phone! I told him that if it didn't ship on friday, to cancel the order. He hung up on me. And I'm not at all surprised that no one ever called me back to tell me whether or not it's shipped. I knew it wasn't going to ship.I immediately bought the same part from someone else. I HAPPILY paid a little more but guess what? My cylinder head was DELIVERED on the following Tuesday.I called Clearwater Tuesday morning to make sure that the order had been canceled. It took them 10 minutes to figure out who I spoke to, and then five more to get back to me and tell me that it had been canceled. I knew that it had been canceled. AJ canceled it the second we hung up the phone. He had no intention of doing any work! It's clear that my time has no value to you, Clearwater cylinder head. When I order a part for my car, I don't expect it to be delivered 2 weeks later, even during Christmas time.FINALLY, I went online and read your reviews. Man I'm glad I cancelled my order! What a mess! The clowns you've got working there are DESTROYING your business!Good freaking luck.Btw, AJ-I don't think you're qualified to work at a machine shop OR a pizza place.

Purchased Cylinder Head. First sign of trouble should have been the delivery date got pushed back a couple of times. Called and was told would ship Friday. The next week, I was told it would ship Friday again. I told them please don't rush. I would like them to take their time and do it right, even if there are delays.Eventually the cylinder head arrives. It took longer than the 2 weeks it was supposed to take. Fine. It looked nice. I should have immediately done a water gravity test on the valves to see if they at least hold water. (I realize not adequate test but a good start) I have done quite a few cylinder heads purchased from a different supplier over the years, and it was bolt on and go. I fully assembled the engine. It's a GM 4.2 inline 6. I decided to do a compression check before installing. It was low on a couple of cylinders. I did a leak down test. It was low on several cylinders, with #4 losing 70 percent of pressure. Totally unusable. It leaked out of every exhaust valve, and the intake in a major way on #4.I called CCH, and left a message with a woman. She said I would be called back. I wasn't called back. The next day I talked to a man who said I need to return the head. Frustrated, I ended the call and called back later and talked to Kevin. He was friendly enough and even said they would cover my cost of head bolts and gasket and said this is the reason they have a 5 year warranty. Problem is I now have zero confidence if CCH. Even if they tinker with the head enough to get it not to leak, who's to say the head won't blow up in a year due to bad craftsmanship? (sure still under warranty but I still lose my time) This head was clearly not vacuum tested before leaving their shop. I really don't want them touching my stuff at this point, even if I am forfeiting a "free" warrantee repair. CCH could argue that maybe I installed it wrong and I bent a valve. I did not of course, but even if I did, I wouldn't bend every exhaust valve. The 5 year warranty is great say if the valve guides wore out after 4 years. It should not be for shoddy workmanship and quality control issues. To remove this cylinder head, the oil pan and front timing cover have to be removed. All that RTV in the trash. The head gasket and bolts in the trash. All that time wasted. If the engine were still in the vehicle it requires removing the front differential and front driveshaft and 4wd disconnect.Using CCH was a $725 mistake. $525 for the head with shipping, and about $200 for the head gasket + GM head bolts and RTV. Never mind my hours invested. I should have done the simple water test on the head before sending them my core or installing. This reman head is worse than the core I sent them.Currently the Head is at Head Works of Nashville. They verified the valves were not sealing using a vacuum test when I brought it there. They said they know about Clearwater Cylinder Head and have repaired their heads before. If this system allows me I will update this review on what they find wrong with the head, as far as why it leaks. Head works has almost perfect reviews. CCH has under 4 stars and I don't know why I didn't pay more attention to the bad reviews before I ordered. I usually do. Please take your money to a local shop that has a good reputation, where you can visit them if you have an issue. Avoid CCH. Such bad workmanship should not be rewarded. Please, for the love of all things holy, avoid CCH.One other note. Kevin said he wanted to see the head, especially to see who worked on it. I told him I could provide him the numbers on the head, he said there are too many numbers and he needs to see the head. I am willing to send hi-res images of every angle. I also find it odd that their system can't tell them who worked on the head based on invoice number. Like it's not linked up anywhere.I hope this review is helpful and if it prevents just one person from being burned, it was worth the few minutes to type it out.Service: Engine repair

Purchased a set of NEW Jeep Liberty cylinder heads with 5yr warranty. Lasted 8 months, took heads off, found heat tab missing, one intact, inspected heads and found .014" guide clearance, which is almost TEN TIMES more than it should be. Sent heads in for warranty. Got heads back that were full of glass bead, in condition worse than what we sent. Pitted valve stems, used valve guides, rusty cam, rusty lifters. This place is probably the Number 1 worst place to get cylinder heads from. What a joke, owner was rude. Lied on the phone. Heres some pictures of the new valve guides they say they just put in. STEER CLEAR!!!

Quality control has dropped in recent years, as bad as a rounded 10mm camshaft bearing cap bolt on the cylinder head I picked up yesterday. The previous set of heads I picked up from them had the wrong cams installed. I might consider shopping around next time.

Took my Miata head into them after a head gasket failure, they cleaned and pressure tested it informing me that the valves were leaking. Decided to go ahead with the rebuild, got my quote and was told two weeks. Call comes in a day before two weeks, my head was cracked but they replaced it with one they had on the shelves and they honored the original quote and it's ready. Ecstatic with the service and can't wait to get it back on the car. Definitely going back for any more head work.Service: Engine repair

I brought a cylinder head into the store front/ shop of clearwater cylinder head Inc. at 5100 Ulmerton Rd, Clearwater, FL 33760. I was informed by a friendly, knowledgeable counter man that the cylinder head had cracks in it and it was typical for the motor. I was told it could be repaired for $495 and it would take two weeks. I stopped in just before two weeks to inquire the status and I was told two weeks was just an estimate. I called every day after that and finally I was told they were working on it... the next day I received a phone call that the cylinder head did not pass testing and they tried another core with the same results. I was told they were looking for a core for me and it could be 2 more weeks. I think that was another estimate/lie, so I went to the shop to pick up the part the manager gave me an attitude and said it was very labor intensive. I did order the cylinder head from another shop for $325 ... my car is running good.... no thanks to Clearwater cylinder head Inc.Service: Engine repair

They did good work. However it took over 3 weeks to get the heads. The day after I placed the order they called me and were very polite. Told me 6 to 10 days to build them. Called after that and they were very rude on the phone and said it would be another week because they were really busy. Don't waste your time with these people because they are a little cheaper than others. They also sell under other names like Odessa cylinder heads on ebay. Spend the extra money and buy some already built and ready to ship. Don't wait almost a month.

I m really nervous now at the what my heads will look like when I get them. I ve was told Monday they were shipping out would be here wendsday or Thursday. Never received a email or tracking number. So I call to find out what s the deal on wendsday being I see fed ex drive by my house. They for one acted as if I didn t know what I was talking about and then tell me they haven t even shipped yet. I call back to see when they would and they were really rude and said they ll ship in a couple days and hung the phone up. So now I m nervous to see what my product will look like also waiting 2 weeks and now another week I m not impressed at all and Tim and mr bob well I hope you gets what s comeing to ya. I m from Arkansas but I will not recommend you folks for nothing. Just hope my heads are able to use when they ever do get here.

I contacted Clearwater Cylinder Head because I needed a cylinder head and even shopped around in Canada before I chose to go with them. My conversations on the phone were pleasant and courteous. I ordered a 0331 cast for a jeep 4.0 6cyl engine and the item came packaged with lots of padding and protection. While I had to wait....that's life....my order was shipped and i received it in 3 business days. TO anyone that complains about shipping....You got your item shipped free. I had to pay for shipping to Canada -which was still cheaper than buying here and picking it up.Thank you for your prompt service and hopefully I don't have to buy another one. I will be installing it next weekend. Wish me luckService: Motor building

Cylinder heads for a GM 5.3 were purchased. Arrived full of metal shavings. The "valve job" that was performed left a massive amount of inconsistent clearance across the valve stems. Calling in to discuss the issue is useless as you will hastily disagreed with. No pictures were requested. Due to this issue, the engine will rattle on a start until the lifters expand. All in all, I should have read the reviews first.Service: Motor building
