Beach Front Motel in Cedar Key, FL. If I could give ZERO stars, I would (except for location). We made reservations for a room in October, 2023 to visit Cedar Key for a 10 day stay in March, 2024, and when I called, the lady didn t mention the damage done to the motel by Hurricane Idalia at all. We are in Wisconsin so we heard about the hurricane, but didn t realize it hit Cedar Key so hard. I called again in January to inquire about dishes in the kitchenette because we read in a review that there were no dishes in the kitchen. The lady I talked to said, We re cleaning up from the hurricane that hit here last August, so there are no dishes now, but if you call back in February, we ll know more or something along those lines. I did not call back in February because I figured it wasn t a big deal. We could just take our own dish set. We never got a call from the motel to cancel the reservations. We drove almost 1700 miles down there to find the motel still in total disrepair and no phone call from them. They claimed they called everyone to let them know of them closing because of hurricane damage. Why didn t we receive a call? And why did they even let me book a room back in October if the hurricane happened in August? Oh, and I can t forget to mention that when I went online to call a number for the Beach Front Motel, there was still a number that was taking new reservations, and new reservations only. And their website was still up and running and accepting new reservations also. It was a poorly managed business all around. I was so disgusted. Never again.

The location is great!! Service is severely lacking. Check in time is 3...I showed up at 4 and my room wasn't ready. Came back at 6 and waited 10 minutes for someone to come in the office to check me in. While waiting, I listened to 2 people argue in the back office. After checking in, they could not find my key. The office lady walked me to my room and left her keys (the keys to every room of the motel...would you consider this a good idea) and the office phone. She told me she'd be back with my room key and clean towels. After 90 minutes I took the keys and phone back to her and she was shocked to see them and "hadn't started missing them yet". She then had to search for a key to work for my room. The room itself was nice and had a great view, but it was not as advertised or what I reserved...I reserved a room with 3 beds and a kitchenette. The room I received was 1 bed, no kitchenette. We checked out at 10 am and still did not receive clean towels even though I asked multiple times.Nearby activities: Within a mile of dock street in Cedar Key.

Here s the deal. If you re looking for a 5 star resort with all the bougie amenities and staff to wait on you at your beckon call, this ain t it. The hotel is old, but not run down. The people that run it work hard to keep it nice. I witnessed one of the ladies that work there pulling weeds by hand while we were there!! Can t tell me they aren t doing the best they can. Everything functioned as expected. It was clean and we felt very safe staying here.Cedar Key is a small island with a population of around 700 people. This place is old Florida and charming with the BEST views. Visiting this little gem inspired my family and I to expand our search for new adventures across Florida.Oh and rent a golf cart from the hotels recommended spot. It s the best way to get around, and fun!

If you are white trash, this is the place for you! This place is in need of extreme updating. Everything here is dated and needs to be replaced, except the air conditioners. The air conditioners are right on time. It appears that the people that work here, their children hang out in the pool while they are working. So if coming here to relax, is your plan, then you need to find somewhere else to stay. I paid $400 for two nights at this place and have regretted it. The beds are poor, the bathrooms are poor, there is no ice machine, no towels for the pool, the pool is OK and is cool and clean however, the riffraff that you have to walk through to get to the pool is not acceptable. The people hanging out on the stairwell that you must walk through to get to your room is unacceptable. This place is billed as a fine spot on the internet but is a completely different spot when you see it in person. I would definitely recommend you find somewhere else to stay in Cedar key than the Beach Front. The view is great and the location great but other than that it is extremely overpriced. I am very disappointed and will not stay here again. This is a 80.00 a night spot on the coast. Nothing special and very overpriced.

Clean and comfortable, friendly staff and a view to die for. That sunset was awesome. Great pool and a great place to relax. Hotel needs some updates but who cares, it's an older city and all you need is clean and comfortable. Definitely will visit again.Rooms: Huge room with a stove and full size fridgeWalkability: Easy walking to downtown

The place was perfect. Room 206 has a great view of the water if you don t mind climbing a few stairs. Don t expect to see yourself checking in to The Holiday Inn. First thing you will need to do is find the office. They have a large sign that says office. You walk in a room that is the size of a closet. Then you get to meet the manager/owner (not too sure) who is a lovely lady working hard. There may be days they have fallen behind getting the rooms ready. If they say to come back an hour, don t pull your hair out, she is bending over backwards to get you in your room. Don t blow your top and get all stupid. Just thank her and go in town for a great meal and cold beer. It s an island. Chill.Room was super clean. Lots of space. My only negative was that you need blackout curtains.Overall a great place to relax and I will be back getting room 206 again. Dogs are welcome.

Worst stay ever, not because of the extremely dated room, or no ice maker, or no dishes, or stove not working which didn't matter as no pots/pans, nothing to do with everything wrong with the room including the AC which won't actually cool the room. It was the people making extreme noise all night, making the building literally shake. And no on-site staff to even complain to. It is going to make for a long night unless I call the police I suppose.

I booked my room via telephone three weeks in advance. Was told they would email my confirmation. I was booking with five other couples. No one received an email confirmation like we were told so, after a week we decided we better call to make sure everything was good. When we called the girl verified that we all had our rooms book and would definitely send out our confirmation. No confirmation was sent to any of us. The weekend came and one of the couples had booked for a few nights and checked in, all was good. I went to check in and what do you know no reservation. They were booked and my name wasn t on the list. We had planned a great trip together and all they could say was sorry. Didn t offer to compensate for the inconvenience. I was able to find a room at another location but it wasn t near our friends. If you do book do it online. The staff is too incompetent to handle anything other than housekeeping.

Best budget hotel. If you are looking for a higher end modern Marriott type of hotel this isn't for you. It's true to Cedar Key vibes. Pet friendly, family friendly. Everyone keeps to their self. I recommend the oceanfront room. Can't beat the view.

Arrived in Cedar Key around 7:00 pm to watch sunset and experience the 2nd oldest city in Florida. Requested a walk in shower for my disabled best friend. The only walk in shower was on 2nd floor and my friend struggled up steps even though there are no skid strips on them. We took the risk because we were open to the adventure. It s old but we were thinking to just be grateful for this fishing town. We decided to go to village before it closed for night. A regret we had later by not checking the room earlier. We had a great time in town and made it back to motel around 10:39 pm. Noticed cracks, run down and old ,we just planned taking shower and sleeping. The balcony is out the front door overlooking pool. Very misleading to customers. My friend got undressed sat on bench in shower turned on shower and then NO water. Dribbled out.Called office, no answer just answering machine. Walked to office. No one in office. Picked up outside phone placed in glass box to call office. Broken!Went back upstairs after numerous calls and packed. Came back downstairs placed keys in key slot and left all the while calling continuously. Finally phone was answered and said she was away for awhile. We told her what happened and we had returned keys and had left property. We asked for money back and she said the money is non refundable. What?My disabled friend hit roof and said we will will just cancel credit charge. Then she hung up on us.Instead of resolving issue they were quick to say tough luck.Conversation with owner resolved nothing except getting blood pressure up.I should have paid attention to details. All my fault. The way they treat their customers is exactly the way they treat and feel about their property. Horrible.

Great staff. Rooms very very clean. Cold air conditioner in the room. ***We had a room with a kitchenette but there were no utensils or supplies in the room****but we were able to get takeout utensils from one of the restaurants. One of the few hotels with a pool. The hotel is close enough to walk everywhere, but not so close that you re in the hustle and bustle of the town.ample parking. Will stay here again

My husband and I just stayed here and we loved it. Room was very clean. We thought it was a beautiful area for so many reasons. We went for walks, shopping, restaurants, fishing and more. The room was great size, had a king bed, mini fridge, microwave, table, tv etc. The lady s in the office were great! We were actually a walk in with hopes to get a room and it worked out perfectly they had a few and we got an ocean view. The AC did seem like we would be hot all night but we definitely woke up in the middle of the night freezing. So that was great!! We like it cold. The only thing I would have to say could be better was the water pressure in shower but I do find that an issue at most places. So they definitely still get five stars from us. And we will definitely be back!!Oh I almost forgot to add. The only thing I was having trouble with was the wifi. Just didn t seem to want to work with us. Not sure if it was the service from the motel or our phones just weren t having it. I kept getting stuck in sos so couldn t use phones in room at all. But outside was totally fine off the wifi.Nearby activities: Lots of fishing areas, shops and little beach/park for the kids and families and an amazing pier.

The location gave us a wonderful view the whole place is in dire need of major renovations. Extremely over priced for the quality of the room. Ice maker didn t work and it was over 100 heat index.

Check in was supposed to be at 3pm Did not get in our room till 6:30. We had traveled a long way and were ready for a shower but the shower only had a trickle of water. The hotel was full so we could not change rooms. We were just looking for a place to stay for one night , that didn t cost too much, in between travel stops .This was not it!!!Cedar Key was cool though..

For the price of $175 per night, you d think you could at least have gotten fresh towels each day. Or, at the very least, the rooms wouldn t have been dated and painted to look like something out of a 1970 s horror flick. When I called to book the room, the lady was very rude and told me, I could pay the price or not, she didn t care, she would give my room to someone else. All I did was ask her if she could match the price listed online. The rooms did appear to be clean but the linen and paint was so old, it was hard to tell. The second night, we were bombarded with termites. They literally were everywhere. In our room, in the pool, on the walls, it was a nightmare. My mom, used to work at this place back in the 80 s and I can tell you, not much has changed since then. Not even the sheets . I would highly recommend staying elsewhere for that kind of money .

The staff here is so friendly and welcoming, from the minute we arrived, they were helpful and kind. We arrived before our check in time, the nice lady in the office let us park our car there for several hours with no issues. When we did check in, the room was clean. Very clean. This is an older place, but everything was in good working order and everything was freshly cleaned, from the towels and comforters to the floor and windows. The pool was the perfect temperature and was cleaned every morning that I was there. The maintenance man was polite and busy the entire time we were there. He never stopped cleaning and working. The cleaning staff was also friendly and busy, but didn't mind when I asked for coffee and directions. This is ocean front (no beach) and about 4 blocks or so from Dock St, maybe 5 from the beach park. The ice machine worked great, the air conditioning unit was cold, the bed was good, the shower had great pressure and hot water, all in all, zero complaints! Definitely recommend!

Do not stay at this hotel. I was unable to check in until 1930 (normal check in 1500) as the room was not clean. During the night the ceiling fan fell from its fixture and was hanging by its wires over the bed. I reported this to the onsite representative but there was no one available to fix it. I had to move the bed myself to avert a potential injury. I contacted Expedia for a refund, they were initially unable to contact the general manager, then a refund was declined. I have reported the facilty to OHSA.

Nice rooms, great AC, clean appliances, but ice machine still broken as it was exactly one year ago when we stayed there, could use some better service or maybe they are understaffed. Either way I'll be returning hopefully soon.Rooms: Comfy room, relaxing, big shower, no tub, but clean and accessible.Nearby activities: Pier, restaurants, lots to see at the cedar key museum and you can watch airplanes takeoff and land at the air strip.Walkability: Easy to navigate through the city, a golf cart is recommended though, don't drive up and down hwy 24 the police don't like that too much, but you can cross it.Food & drinks: Great food within walking distance, lots of seafood, little pricey but great food regardless.

Where do I start. We reserved room 105 2 weeks before we arrived. It is a gulf view room with 2 queen beds and a kitchen. When we arrived to check in for the weekend we were told that they rented it out to the people that had been staying in it. I'm not sure why you would rent it back out when it was already reserved. It seems that this is a common occurrence. I have since spoken to several people that have stated they had the same issue. Shelley will tell you to go online and check out the room. Ya it looks nice but once you arrive you get switched to another sub par room. Now I will say this, we ended up with 2 adjoining rooms with a door in between for the same price. However the rooms we were offered overlooked the parking lot and were very outdated. These were rooms 210 and 211. I had asked for a ground level room so we didn't have to deal with stairs but ended up on the 2nd story. There is water damage in both rooms. Room 211 has an outdated kitchen with no knobs on the stove and a 1985 Sunbeam rotary dial microwave along with rust all over the refrigerator. Spend the extra money and stay in a condo. Don't fall for the bait and switch like we did. The nicest thing about the place is the pool and it has rotted wood all around it but at least it holds water but then again even the pool on the Titanic is still full.

We showed up with no reservations on a Friday. Had to wait to see if someone canceled. Someone did. As a manager of an RV resort. We love it here, of course they need a few repairs, but it is on the water and gets beat up by the weather and sun. but this place is better then some chain hotels and the room does not smell like mold. The views are awesome. The owners are very friendly. We are making reservations for another stay when we check out.

We arrived with no hotel reserved, we tried a few that we passed upon entering Cedar Key, all with no vacancy. My husband went in to talk to the office, they had a couple of verbal reserves that the customer had not arrived. They said if they do not arrive by 6 pm they could give us the room, we went grabbed a bite came back at 6 pm... one customer did not show. They gave us the room, I could not find an iron in the room, the staff member "Lonnie" Said I will give you mine and you can use it, I ironed all my clothes and returned it, he said you don't have to do that keep it until you leave, I said no you must be using it as well. I thought "WOW!!!" That is customer service. The room was nice, clean, The pool was the area it needed the most help the chairs were in disrepair, most were broken but still usable. Everyone was eager to help and very nice. We definitely would recommend and stay there again. (Hope they replace the pool chaise lounges soon) Thanks for making our experience pleasant, it was much appreciated.

Amazing location, amazing management and owner. I highly recommend this to anyone, except those who prefer super fancy stuff. This isn't fancy, but it is amazing in that it has AC, clean bed, shower and toilet and a mini fridge. It's right by the water, a point that big sharks tend to be caught often. I caught a very large snook, trout, redfish, lady fish and a bunch of other inshore fish. It's walking distance to a grocery store and many bars and restaurants. I highly recommend it!

Was my first trip to Cedar Key and chose to stay at this great little motel. The staff all were incredibly friendly and helpful. I had a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the water and it was perfect! The accommodation had everything I needed to just relax and enjoy to include a fridge, coffee maker and a fantastic pool. I will definitely be back and can recommend this place without any hesitation.
