Great experience! We have been so excited to return to the island and support all the local restaurants and shops. Sunshine Seafood did not disappoint!Love the outdoor seating option and the live music from RC Otters. Service was exceptional and food was delicious.Truly enjoyed the entire meal and the opportunity to support local restaurants as this beautiful island rebuilds. The lobster bisque was delicious, Brussels sprouts and focaccia exceptional, and all pasta meals were fantastic! Will definitely recommend and revisit.

After years of living in the area, we finally decided to check out Sunshine Cafe and Wine Bar on Captiva - and wow, am I glad I did! This place is a true gem that I had been missing out on. Yes, it s a bit on the pricey side, but let me tell you, the food is absolutely worth every penny. The surf and turf? Excellent! And while I was initially a tad disappointed to discover they only serve wine and beer (a Smokey old fashioned would have been great), the wine selection didn t disappoint. I let the waitress pick a red for me, and she hit it out of the park. If you re on Captiva and looking for a dining experience that delivers on quality and flavor, Sunshine Cafe and Wine Bar is the spot. Can t wait to go back!Make a reservation!

Allow me to share my recent dining experience at Sunshine Seafood Caf in the picturesque haven of Captiva, Florida. From the moment I stepped onto the sun-kissed porch, I knew I was in for something extraordinary. The Ambiance is cozy and welcoming! Missy: A Shining Star: Let me introduce you to the heart of this establishment: Missy. She s not just a server; she s a magician who weaves hospitality into every interaction. Fresh catches, vibrant produce it s a seafood lover s dream. I savored the Chilean Sea Bass, a masterpiece that melted on my tongue. Missy s recommendation, of course. The Brussels Sprout appetizer with bacon and goat cheese? Divine. Sunshine s wine selection is a treasure trove. Missy guided me to a French Ros that danced with my meal. Her knowledge and enthusiasm elevated the experience. Highly recommend.

Have been dining here for years and have adored every visit. Service and food are superb. Fish is cooked perfectly every single time and the chef serves plates with a delightful melody of vegetables. Doug and staff are attentive and genuine. Be sure to call or stop by and make a reservation during busy seasons as they fill up!Also, please do not miss the chocolate fantasia. :)

We found the perfect quaint restaurant in the middle of paradise! We reserved the Sunshine Cafe for my 30th birthday and it was better than we could have imagined. There were 15 of us on this evening and the set up was perfect- a huge table with half couch, half chairs. The ambiance was so enjoyable.Doug was our host for the evening, making sure we had everything we needed! They had a fantastic selection of wine and the dinner was delicious! When we arrived we enjoyed some wine by the bar inside, then walked down the street to watch the sunset. When we returned we ordered dinner and enjoyed birthday cake! After dinner we walked 15 steps across the street to Key Lime Bistro for live music and dancing. We couldn t have wished for more. It was one of the best outings we ve ever had!We will definitely be back soon for a dinner party. This is a perfect place to rent for a small intimate dinner party or just even a date night for two.

If you want your taste buds wowed with every bite, this is your place. Everything is so fresh and the seafood amazing. The blind pass shrimp appetizer had such a unique flavor. The daily specials along with the main menu items brought us back several times on our trip to Captiva. Sunshine cafe was one of the highlights of our trip.

One of my favorite Captiva Island restaurants. The food is prepared well and unique. Tonight was halibut with chipotle sauce. Yummy. Then the chocolate tower dessert was so good. A nice quiet dinner with my daughter so we could talk just enjoy our night out. Love this place. Thanks, Robin, for you service and smile.

This restaurant is a true home run. A best kept secret. I ve been here twice, bringing four friends the second time last night. How can there be such perfection? Food is absolutely delicious, the service, spot on. The restaurant is quaint and intimate. Food is the best I ve had on the islands.

3 stars was generous for this place! I expected so much more since it's owned by Sandy Stilwell. We were staying the week at Captiva Island Inn and decided to try this "upscale dining option". Shortly after we arrived and were seated outside the skies opened and the rain came down. This seemed to fluster our waiter and throw him into a panic. We had eaten a large lunch so we both went for Gumbo and a salad. The salad was Cracker Barrel quality average at best and the worst gumbo I've ever eaten. I will not go back and would recommend with caution. If you're not too particular this might fit your needs!?

Amazing food and service. We had the scallop and the Brussels sprouts appetizers and they were both outstanding. Also had the paella which was excellent. I would definitely recommend taking the scenic drive over from Sanibel.

We eat at Sunshine Cafe every time we eat our in Captiva. Some weeks 7 days a week. Have been eating there for years. Best seafood and steaks on the island. Never had a meal that wasn't perfect. Also salads are delicious like the goat cheese salad with chicken, scallops, shrimp or salmon added. Also the best paella in the world. That's also how they advertise it on their menus. Indoor or outdoor dining. Great wine list. Highly recommend Sunshine Cafe.

Best food and service on Captiva. Good wine selection, staff is friendly and attentive. Went twice on a short stay. Took their time on each course and did not rush us out, good food experience.

The man at the front was one of the rudest people I ve ever experienced. I love Captiva, have been coming here since I was 5. This man threw me off and absolutely took me off guard. I asked if they could take two and before I even finished he started running away saying we have nothing. Understood, it s busy. However he didn t even look at me and his tone of voice was nasty and rude. I think everyone on this island is so kind and that s what makes the atmosphere so special. The fact that this establishment would allow this foul man to work and host the front ruins the entire mood of the island. Awful.

This place is a little gem on Captiva! Best meal we've had on Captiva, hands down. We started the evening by ordering a bottle of prosecco off the wine list. Our waitress returned to let us know that the manager wanted us to try the bottle she brought instead, which was a better bottle than ordered, as it used to be on the menu, but they are no longer able to get it, and they only had a couple of bottles left. We ordered the Scallop and Goat Cheese appetizer and it was phenomenal, the scallops were perfectly prepared, the crostini were toasted nicely and not soggy. We all ordered fresh seafood for our entrees. The red snapper was very fresh and moist, the broccoli and red cabbage are some of the best I've tasted. The tuna was prepared exactly as requested and the restaurant was quick to accommodate dietary restrictions by swapping out vegetables for starch - that amazing broccoli and a small order of their wonderful brussel sprout appetizer. Although too full for dessert, we certainly plan to explore what they have on our next visit. The waitress was engaging and kind and the manager spent several minutes chatting with us both about the food, and trips to other countries and those experiences. We will absolutely be returning!

Visited on June 9, 2018, the first night it was at new location. The food was excellent and the small, but well decorated dining room was a great place for a meal. The wait staff was excellent and friendly. I highly recommend it.

Growing up in Kamchatka, grand mama would tell tales about the dish she gorged on, of rice and seafood and other treasures, during her travels to Captiva. I thought this dish a dream of a nostalgic old woman until the volcano destroyed my village and I was forced to leave for Argentina. Once there, I heard tales of a dish of rice that met my grandmother's tales, from the same cafe. I thought it impossible until traveling to Madrid, where, while boasting of the paella, Spaniards would often say, yes, but you must travel to Captiva for the best version. Finally, after working all my years, I came to try the world famous Sunshine Cafe paella. Grand mama, oh, how you told true! World famous indeed!
