Old Captiva House is charming and beautifully decorated. It's the essence of a beachy restaurant: Calming white wood & aqua blues, white table clothes, cozy low ceilings. Christmas decorations made a wonderful atmosphere.Pasta with Chicken Strips was fabulous. My Grouper was okay but Risotto was outstanding. Rib eye steak was good. Service was excellent.Very busy restaurant. Recommend reservations.Parking: Busy, tight parking lot.

Tween Waters is a lovely property and the service is exceptional across the board: at the front desk, at the restaurants, to the people who set up the beach. The atmosphere is amazing, too! The only downside is not the fault of Tween Waters but bears mentioning: there is a serenity pool that was anything but serene due to the clientele who chose to spend time there. People brought toddlers into this space, there were loud drunk people at one point, and VERY loud talkers.Vegetarian options: I was pleased to see vegetarian options at both Captiva House and the other fine dining restaurant ( I can t remember the name!).

Old Captiva House is a delight with friendly staff and good food. For our starters we had a caprese salad and a deconstructed sushi roll. The sushi roll is my favorite it was amazing and the mozzarella in the salad was delicious. For our main we had the smoked salmon pasta and the steak with mashed potatoes. I felt the combination of the smoked salmon and the prosciutto fat made the dish a little too salty. I liked the flavor of the prosciutto more than the smoked salmon if I had to choose. The mashed potatoes were also a bit salty. They give you plenty of water to drink which is a plus. My only complaint is the amount of salt used. The bread was great, couldn't stop eating it.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp

A beautifully decorated restaurant in a great location, but the food is of mixed quality and service was slow and inattentive. The bartender is clearly an expert, because the cocktails were fantastic. Bread service was excellent, with tasty fresh rolls and multiple dishes of seasoned olive oil around our large table. Appetizers were disappointing--the prosciutto-wrapped jumbo prawns sounded delicious, but the bone-dry and flavorless dish I was served was anything but. The escargot is a bizarrely unpleasant version of a classic dish that includes a noxiously thick red sauce instead of the garlic-drenched morsels we know and love. The entrees my party ordered were a mixed bag, but my grouper was perfectly prepared, and the lobster risotto it came with was also pleasant. Desserts were excellent, with the key lime pie being a stunner, and the "bread pudding" being delicious despite being simply zhuzhed-up banana bread. Our waiter was pleasant, but inattentive--he would take incomplete orders and we'd have to call him back so other members of our party could order. We hoped for a leisurely-paced meal, but wound up sitting for nearly three hours (with three kids in our party, mind you), and the restaurant had empty tables everywhere. We wound up waiting for 45 minutes to receive our check, and then we only received it because a member of our party went and found the waiter and asked for it. A decent option for drinks and dessert in post-Ian Captiva where restaurants are limited, but they'll have to up their game to get our dinner business again.

What a treat. We came in town for a short spontaneous vacation and found this phenomenal restaurant. Getting there at sunset by itself was already worth it. The restaurant is beautiful with very relaxing atmosphere. We had a reservation and got welcomed quickly. The waitress was great and very knowledgeable about the menu. We tried Escargot for the first time ever and absolutely loved it, delicious. The Lobster Crab Cake was also delicious. The Pomegranate glazed lamb chops topped everything, such a perfect dish, everything on this plate was absolutely delicious. The roasted duck with orange mango rum sauce was good but slightly too sweet for us, yet we still loved it and ate everything. We will definitely be back in the future.

Last night was our first time eating at Old Captiva House and our last time. It's beautifullydecorated. Unfortunately, that was the only good thing for me. Our server seemed to be a nice person but we hardly saw her. After she served our entrees we never saw her until we asked another server to get her for us.My $58. lamb chops were so tough I had difficulty cutting them. Chewing them was a realchallenge. I gave up and couldn't eat them. Plus, we needed water. Our server forgot about us.Of course, the lamb chops were taken off our check. It was very disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic. We we re staying at the connected Tween Waters resort so it was a no brainer to try the Old Captiva House.Food was wonderful. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The bisque was served table side which was fun as you don t see that very often. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They also had a very nice wine and cocktail menu. This place does have a higher price point but the superb quality of the food definitely reflects that.Definitely would recommend to anyone staying at the resort or if you re in the area.

Food and service was good, the large shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were ok. Hubs had the well seasoned blackened snapper with water melon salad, he says he would order it again. I had shrimp on lobster risotto with grilled asparagus, thinking it would be a small dinner, but no, the three huge shrimp were delicious and the cheesy risotto was loaded with lobster meat. Better be hungry for this dish. Imo, the best place of the three in this resort.

Dinner was amazing! We started with a couple different appetizers, and they were very good. Dinner was their grouper over lobster risotto that was exceptional! We'll definitely be back!

Came here while on vacation at South Seas with my family and all I can say is wow! We are so happy we found this gem, definitely made the last day of our trip memorable. Both the food and service were fantastic! The wedge salad was outstanding, along with the tuna and filet. My husband had the crab cakes and lobster bisque and said both were amazing. I highly recommend to anyone, this place is worth the drive.

Pulled in here because it looked nice and the sign out front stating "best breakfast in town" caught our eye. We were seated quickly and the place was empty aside from one other family. Service was prompt and our food took no longer than ten or fifteen minutes to arrive. Gotta love how quick breakfast is cooked. My meal was as expected and I had no complaints. Can't really screw up biscuits and gravy. My wife however was displeased. She ordered a shrimp omelet and when she took her first bite she was surprised to find it full of what looked like a pesto paste. When we asked the server about she simply said it's a shrimp paste that they cook. What a turn off. The host approached our table not long after inquiring if we enjoyed the meal and after we told him our concern he said that the shrimp are placed in a blender with the other ingredients and then cooked. The menu description had none of this information and it was not appetizing. Overall we were displeased at how it was handled.

We had an excellent meal in this lovely historic space with a view of the water. The lobster and crab crusted scallops on coconut rice was amazing. The Branzino was cooked to perfection. We also had the special, tile fish, atop a delicious and perfect risotto. The reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 was the aloofness of our server and the pricing is a little on the high side.

We had reservations and were so excited to visit this special place on our first trip back to Captiva after Ian. We have thoroughly enjoyed our trip and have loved supporting local restaurants, markets, stores and vendors on the island, being sure to give grace and understanding to obvious bumps that may still be in the road.Having said that our experience at Old Captiva House was awful. It was especially sad as we looked forward to this special family dinner and everything about it was disappointing. One star feels like too much to rate our experience this evening. We had reservations for 7pm. We waited 45 minutes to have a wait person come to take our drink order at our table. At that point we asked someone working for bread please. As we finally were able to order dinner more than an hour after sitting down, we ordered a second drink that never came, ordered it again with another staff member and still only one of these two orders came after our dinner was finished. No water or bread refills the entire evening.Food was mediocre at best and service was awful. Our bill was over $400 and it makes you so upset to spent this kind of money and not have water even at the table. They were having a busy night and clearly overwhelmed however we were ready to have a wonderful evening, overlook bumps and provide grace to things that we couldn t control. However, never was there any consolation, apology or attempt to make things right. An evening we looked forward to was from start to finish, an incredible disappointment as well as a waste of money. We even waited in the lobby after dinner in an attempt to speak to a manager, owner or anyone to let them know how we felt about our experience but after waiting another ten minutes without anyone there we ended the already upsetting evening. There are plenty of places on the island working hard, providing great food and excellent service and appreciative of the support of customers. Unfortunately in our experience, this wasn t one of those and though we visit Captiva annually and have for 30+ years, this will be a difficult one to get back on our list.

June 2019- This was our first time to Old Captiva House for breakfast and we ordered the Chorizo Omelot, Lobster Benedict and Grand Marnier French Toast. The omelot and Benedict was served with potatoes that were very flavorful. Both entrees were very tasty and flavorful. The Grand Marnier French Toast was thick, with a subtle sweetness. Very well prepared. The restaurant is well lit and comfortable, not too crowded and windows all around. The staff is very nice, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely come back to this restaurant and recommend even if you aren t staying at TweenWaters Resort.June 20, 2020- today we dined at Old Captiva House for breakfast and then again for dinner. For breakfast we ordered Traditional Eggs Benedict served with breakfast potatoes $11.95, Grand Marnier French Toast $10.25, and Two Eggs, Bacon, Breakfast Potatoes and toast $9.95. Everything was wonderful. The bacon was quality and prepared just right. The breakfast potatoes were crisp and seasoned nicely although a bit salty. The Grand Marnier French Toast was crisp and very flavorful. The Eggs Benedict was also very tasty and we substituted the Canadian bacon for sliced tomatoes. Our server was Rosenadine and she was friendly and attentive. We went back for dinner to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. Anthony was our server and he was professional and attentive. We ordered appetizers Crab Bisque which was served deconstructed and constructed right in front of us. The presentation was lovely and the flavor was very nice. The other appetizer was a Lobster cake served with an avocado slaw. The cake was lightly crisped and probably the best I ve had and the avocado slaw was very good and unique to me. For the main course we ordered the pan seared 9 Oz filet with roasted garlic Parmesan potatoes and vegetables $42. This was cooked perfectly, lean and very tasty. The second entree was Jumbo Prawns served with asparagus and a creamy Maine Lobster risotto with a key lime butter sauce $36. There were three large grilled prawns and this was a very tasty dish.We definitely recommend Old Captiva House for Breakfast and dinner and we will be back on our next visit.

To start it is like stepping back in time into that old Florida feel. The Old Captiva House is beautiful and well maintained. All of the staff was so nice and helpful. The service is phenomenal from the hostess to our waitress and to Executive Chef Greg Nelson. He visited our table and made sure everything was perfect. It was!!! Our meal was fantastic and presented beautifully. My wife ordered caprese salad. It was beautiful and delicious. Her main course was lobster and crab crusted scallops. Again, so beautifully presented and they melted in your mouth. I had a delectable garden salad with Chef Gregs very own Catalina dressing. For my main course, asparagus, smashed potatoes and the best dry aged rib eye steak ever, smothered in sauted shitake mushrooms. It was melt in your mouth tender and the seasonings on it were out of this world. We shared a piece of ,yes thank you Chef Greg, homemade key lime pie, fabulous. Everything, is baked and cooked to perfection right at The Old Captiva House. It is amazing to have such great food in such a beautiful setting with such great people serving you. Thank you all so much and a special thanks to Chef Greg.

Old Captiva house is a restaurant on the property of Tween Waters in Captiva. The bar is in the middle of the restaurant so don't expect a quiet romantic meal. The entree prices are fairly high given that you are staying at a resort. The quality of the food is above average. The first night I had the Halibut which was very good. The second night I had the filet mignon which was one of the best I've ever had. Tween waters did not seem to have very much damage due to Hurricane Ian and everything is up and operational. Another lucky survivor of hurricane Ian was the Mucky Duck further north on Captiva and the duck is superb. By the way the Bubble Room has full intentions of reopening. But I prefer the duck at Mucky duck. If you do go to the old Captiva house whatever meal you get substitute something for the panko fried avocado it was amazing.

Loved Chef Gregg Nelson's menu and food. It was a great dining experience. Beautiful old school setting of a dining room with a beautiful view of the water. We started with escargot with a white wine roma tomato garlic sauce. The snails melted in your mouth. We also started with the homemade lobster ravioli with a tomato ginger broth. Perfect. After that deliciousness we ordered the lobster and crab stuffed scallops and the Cioppino as our entrees. The seafood was so fresh and paired perfectly with their sauces and garnishes. Of course we had to have the Napoleon as a desert because it sounded too good to resist. The service was great too. It was definitely a special evening.
