Price gouging.My tranmission died on Sunday, March 17th. On Monday, I called several transmission shops and settled on Cottman. Over the phone, Don, the manager, quoted me a reasonable price and promised a quick turnaround, so I towed my car there. I asked Don if he thought I could get $500 or $1,000 for my car in its present condition. Don said I'd be lucky to get $200.Shortly after dropping the car off, I got a call from Don with a much higher price, so I started shopping again. I found another shop across town that towed the car from Cottman. When I went to Cottman to pay for the diagnostic fee, Don said to call him back once I get my lowest price. He also said he was interested in buying my car (a Jeep Wrangler) from me because he had the perfect engine.I paid $1,200 less to have my transmission fixed elsewhere.

Very helpful shop from my experience.My car started sputtering and check engine light came on Friday. After leaving it overnight, they gave me an update Monday about what needed to be done.Very thorough inspection as they found my water pump was leaking too.They were able to fix my transmission issue, engine tune up, and replace my water pump.They updated me Tuesday and I got my car back on Wednesday. My husband drove it and says it's great, I'm very happy with my car knowing they fixed the transmission and extra stuff on top.Pricing was very reasonable considering all that needed to be fixed. I'd recommend considering other shops would take weeks to fix my car.

Very upset with this place. I drove my 2017 Ford Focus R/S to get my engine light diagnostic. After a few hours of the vehicle being at the shop and calling in frequently to get an update, I was told that my car wasn t running anymore. They told me that my best option was to bring it to Ford and have them take a look at it. I had to tow my vehicle out. Still to this day my vehicle isn t running because the damages will cost me around $5,500 which I simply don t have right now. I drove it in, and had to tow it out because they simply didn t want to deal with it. 0/10Service: General repairs & maintenance

I thought transmission places were basically the same. Went to Cottmans transmission and met Don. Don believes in old school communication. He will keep the customer updated with what s going on with the transmission and if it s under warranty what s going on with the warranty company I can t say enough good things about Don very happy with the service.

After speaking to the manager and him assuring me they were very familiar with Cadillac transmissions, I took my 2010 srx to them. They told me it needed $4700 rebuild. Not satisfied with that I had it picked up. After a second opinion from another local shop, it only needed a $1400 transmission controller. Working like new now. I would not recommend using cottman to anyone ever again.

As her original owner, it was necessary for me to take my beloved '04 Infiniti G35 Coupe to a 'shop' that didn't do what had to be done on her at the Firestone that does her oil changes, etc. I was referred to Cottman. I took her there... It went very smoothly and I was satisfied when I drove her home... At the time of the original repair, Don, the manager, had recommended that I bring her in one wk after the valve cover gasket replacement they'd done. I went in for that check on schedule...But then, I again started getting the 'smell' I'd gone to them for in the first place. I again took her back in. Don was so accomodating and pleasent. He didn't treat me like an idiot and proved to me that the oil is burned on and has to wear off. Cottman's very competent mechanics fixed my beloved car and the management made sure they knew "The customer is always right".Don't waste your time searching anywhere else... They're honest, capable, and NEEDED!Thank you Don, not only for your mechanical expertise, but especially for your military service!!! and God Bless the USA!Thank youService: Transmission

Being in the automotive business for over 20+ years I can honestly say that this shop is fairly priced and does great work. We have been using them for years now and we have great experiences only. Thanks for all that you do for us!

Exceptional customer service and great professionalism. Don Martin and the team at Cottman were honest, friendly and extremely helpful. I had to tow my vehicle over to Cottman (after hours) to have it checked out since it wouldn't start. Don walked me through their after hours drop off process over the phone, called back the very next morning with their diagnosis results and advised me on what needed to be done. He also gave me ample time (over a day) due to my schedule to return for my vehicle. I highly recommend Cottman and would gladly do business with them again.Service: Electrical

Very frustrating, expensive, and disappointing experience. I had to return my vehicle twice for correction of poorly performed work and supposed failed parts. Staff was unprofessional and unskilled at dealing with customers. (At no point should an employee use the word deadbeat while working through debit card spending limits, or joke about the prices of their work). I had to demand a breakdown of parts, labor and work performed, and am still waiting for that.My advice is to seek repair work elsewhere. This location (Brandon FL) is poorly operated.Service: Transmission

Don was fantastic, his customer service was above and beyond expectations. The communication was outstanding throughout the process. They put the customer first and treat your car like it is their own. Had my 06 Buick Rendezvous worked on there a few months ago for suspension issues. Had taken it to another place prior and they worked on it twice, but weren't sure what was wrong, but were willing to charge me for changing my CV axle on a guess. Cottman was able to not only find and correct the problem, they did it at a much lower price . Great work and very friendly. I won't think twice about bringing my vehicle there again . Thanks.Brought my vehicle again to Cottman, for an issue we had with hesitation. Told them what the issue was, and when it started. I had thought that it may have been poor fuel in the tank, but didn't say anything. Also had the check engine light on, plus I knew I needed brakes in the back. They did a diagnostic test, checked my brakes. They were able to determine that I only needed the back brakes and that yes, it appeared that my hesitation was from poor gas. Told me what product I could use for the gas, replaced the back brakes only. Again I was impressed that they did not try to suggest anything I didn't need and, yes after two treatments for the gas the car ran great. I was in search for they answer as to why my check engine light had come one. I decided to try Cottman because they were able to squeeze me in the same day and because of Don's amazing customer service. The crew ran the diagnostic tests and I brought my laptop to work while they did their part. Don made sure I had access to the wifi, so I wouldn't have to use my data on my Hotspot. He also provided me with a charger for my laptop should I need it. Additionally to top it all off, my issue was so minor that he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic test. He simply instructed me what part to get and from where. He also assured me that if I didn't feel comfortable installing the part to come back and he would do it for free. This place is amazing. I ve been coming here for years. Rick is not only honest but he s also the most professional shop I ve come across in years. Don the manager is also very Helpful in explaining the work that needs to be done. I brought my car in for a transmission rebuilt and was very pleased to find out that all I needed was a service. Don, the manager, was extremely helpful and nice. I was referred to him by my mechanic because he suspected there could be some transmission issues. Don's team evaluated the vehicle and determined that the transmission was fine. He sent me home without charge. They have excellent customer service. My transmission failed, It was neutralizing in 3rd gear. They had me drop it off on a Monday morning and by the end of the day he had it diagnosed and said it could take 4-5 days for the repair. They rebuilt my transmission and he called me back in 2 days saying it was done I was blown away. Friendly enough, but their pricing is outrageous. I was told a transmission swap would call for about 8 hours of labor from another highly rated shop and I can buy a completely remanufactured transmission for $3800 (I have the quote), costing about $4600 out the door. This shop said it'd be $7500 for doing the same thing, mentioning how hard it is to find used transmissions these days.So basically, they're maximizing on the fact that customers may have a hard time finding parts and upcharging in return. Don't know about you, but $3000 is a lot of money to toss down the drain for the same service.Gladly collected my $60 diag fee, when the other place did it for free.Went based off the good reviews but feels like a rip-off waiting to happen. GET MULTIPLE QUOTES!

Fantastic establishment, wonderful customer service. Had my car towed there and Don, the manager walked me through the after hours drop off process over the phone, Had a diagnosis the next afternoon and Don explained everything about what needed to be done and even gave me extra time to call him back another day to talk to my other half about the diagnosis. My car runs amazing now and he even scheduled a follow up check up to make sure everything was alright. Love the professionalism and would gladly do business with them again.Service: Transmission

I was having issue with a sound on my tires and I found this place online. I was not disappointed with the repair and the costumers service provided by Rick and his team. I brought my girlfriend's car the next day and they also addressed the problem on her car. Great Prices, great work and great costumers service. great job Rick and team! you earn a costumer for life!

I while back, I was recommended to this shop by a local Firestone Complete Center for my vehicle services. They were 100% spot on about recommending to go to this place rather than your usual high named transmission centers.I couldn t be anymore satisfied for the services and repairs that I ve been receiving from Cottman Transmission. I ve just taken all my vehicles to them ever since.When my Honda Civic was in needed of a basic transmission flush and filter change (which required the correct type of fluid on hand that is specifically geared to all Honda type vehicles). They wasted not time in getting my vehicle in and out of the shop before midday. Or when my Jeep needed a overhaul fix on the rear transaxle because of a broken part and fluid leak. They had the repairs done by the next day.Fast, friendly, convenient, knowledgeable, and professional are the words I'd like to use to describe this team and Rick (shop owner). They waste no time in telling you what repairs are needed on your vehicles, and for how much less.One great thing that stood out to me about this shop, is that they like to go above and beyond the call of work by checking your vehicles computer diagnostic system, and presenting you with a list of any codes or errors (if any) that you might have on your vehicle. And recommendations on how to get them fixed.Cottman is truly the way to go when it comes to Transmission repairs and anything else their shop offers..............I guarantee you will be 300% satisfied.Thank you for making me a valued customer, Will recommend to all car, truck, and suv owners.

When the transmission for my 08 g6 failed I asked a friend of mine who owns a auto body shop if he could recommend someone & I was not disappointed. The repair [tranny needed a full rebuild] was better than reasonably priced & was carried out in a much shorter time than I anticipated. It has been a few months since the repair was completed & there have been no further issues with the transmission. I recently returned to have a front wheel bearing replaced which, even with the shop being very busy & me bringing the car in with short notice, again the price was way beyond reasonable & the work completed in less than 1 business day. Mr. Wagner is very professional & explains the issue[s] & repair[s] that are necessary to get a faulty vehicle back on the road very clearly. I will definitely return for any kind of repair on any of the vehicles I own that is within this shops repertoire & recommend them to my friends & family.

Great shop. Rick is extremely honest and knowledgeable. I've had my truck there several times for a few different transmission-related repairs and each time has been a wonderful experience. I appreciate this shop for their honesty, service and they don't have a lot of fluff, they just do the job. Would recommend to anyone needing transmission work done.

I went to Cottman Transmission because my general mechanic said I had a transmission leak. And my car was shaking when I slowed down. I was worried I needed a new transmission. But Mr Wagner, owner and office manager, told me my transmission was fine for now. The shaking was my Universal joints on my drive shaft and they needed to replaced. He replaced the seal on the transmission andI was relieved it wasn't more. I was so glad I chose Cottman instead of the others in the area.. The service was outstanding. Mr Wagner picked up my car at a restaurant 3 blocks down. The location is great if you have to wait.I will bring my car back if I need service again.. It runs so smooth right now. Love it.

Worried about a mechanic ripping you off? Not here. Straightforward transparent, quality service. They replaced my Honda power steering pump and an oil change. The price here is a fraction of what the dealer would have charged me. Very satisfied, and highly recommended. Just referred my roommate to get her car fixed here.

Don and his crew was a lifesaver. They diagnosed the issue when the Mercedes dealer couldn t even figure out what was the problem. I cannot sing enough of their praises. On a recommendation from a friend in the automotive business, I took my daughter's 2008 Jeep Wrangler into Rick for a blown transmission. From the first conversation I had with Rick I could tell he was knowledgeable and professional. He provided honest and valuable insight throughout the entire process so we could make informed decisions. Rick and his team went above and beyond the needed repair and when Murphy's Law kicked in Rick was there at each step after the service. Rick and his team provided excellent workmanship throughout the entire process.

This is one of the very few legitimately honest and fair businesses out there I have never been capitalized on or price gouged and I had to have major repairs done here. My vehicle is fixed, the rate was fair, will be a lifetime customer honestly.
