Tortuga inn is a hidden gem on a beautiful island. It has its own private beach equipped with beach chairs. A huge pergola with tables and chairs that over looks the beach. Theres a dock outback right on the bay. Many restaurants within walking distance. There's a free trolley that will take you anywhere on the island. The upkeep is amazing and the STAFF IS GREAT! There is tons of diff options for room sizes, and their prices are reasonable. They also run specials during the summer! Highly recommend!Rooms: Many diff options. Rooms are beautiful and coveted in beach decor. Very comfortable. Feels like a home away from home.Nearby activities: Dolphin cruisesFishingShoppingRestaurantsJet skisCharter boatsTiki bar boatsPaddleboardingBikingGolf cartsWalkability: There is numerous Restaurants nearby, And trolly stops located right out front that run every fifteen minutes.

Service was not very friendly when we checked in. They told us nothing about the resort. I mean absolutely nothing. Took our money and that's all they cared about. The only reason I knew anything about this resort was from previous reviews. It's in a good location to Bridge St. And the trolley picks you up right in front of resort. The pools were very nice and very well heated for February. Definitely appreciated that. The condo we stayed in is way over priced. I did not like that there was not a bathroom in general for people to use. You had to go through either bedroom to get to a bathroom. The floors were filthy. We had to wipe up some water off the floor through the condo due to using the pool. The towel we used was so dirty and disgusting after doing that. All the doors in the condo, including the front door were filthy. Baseboards were disgusting. The A/C would not go below 70 degrees. We asked to have this fixed. Never got done. Thank goodness they had ceiling fans. The lanai outside lights or fan never worked. The beds were comfortable but didn't have an enclosed mattress pad on them. It was an ok experience. This was our first time staying on this island. Not sure how this compares to other little resort inns in this area. The beach was across the street. I have neuropathy and would have never made the trek over to it. Just too far away.

Beware when booking this property, they have two different buildings. It's not clear on the website which location you are booking. There is an older "motel" style building called "Palm Court" which is oceanside, and a newer condominium style building on the Bayside. Most of the pictures are of the newer, bayside building. The property has a lot of potential. Great location, steps to the beach and the palm tree courtyard has tropical, old-Florida vibes. Unfortunately, upon checking into our two-bedroom unit, we were overcome with a strong smell of mold and mildew. We went to notify the office, but they close at 5:30 pm, so we thought the unit just needed to be aired out. After we couldn't rid the smell, I investigated and found the mold/mildew smell was especially strong coming from the lower kitchen cabinets. I found white fuzzy mold growing on all of the pots and pans (handles and lids and all). I suspect this unit had been flooded, and they couldn't get the water up from under the kitchen cabinets so it just sat there causing a mold bloom. Not only was this extremely unpleasant (our luggage still reeks of mold days later), but a health hazard. I'm sure I'm not the first guest to be overcome by the mold and mildew. A moisture problem like that doesn't happen over night and the fact that management hasn't addressed it shows a complete disregard for guests and candidly negligence. When I was able to notify the office, they apologized and said they would notify the "owner" yet no offer of financial remedy was made as they claimed the units are individually owned. I should have seen the red flags when full prepayment was required at almost $500 per night!Outside of the mold issue, the unit was very dirty and worn and had numerous maintenance issues. Tile floors were greasy, mold and mildew in tub, worn out squeaky mattresses, toilet valve that was leaking so toilet kept refilling every few minutes all night long. My kids were practically in tears and it left us with a very negative experience for our time on Anna Maria Island.Perhaps you'll get a better unit, or if you book in the off season and get a great rate, you can live with it, but for almost $500 per night, I feel like I was robbed.

The rooms are nice. Check-out policy is quite strict. The inn is very close to the beach, is a private beach so there are no crowds. The water is turquoise with no wave (literally feels like a big pool). We had a great time at the beach. Beach chairs are provided and ONE beach umbrella is provided per room.Lobby closes around 6pm. And there is no night life in the whole island. Great for families or a peaceful retreat.

We ve stayed at Tortuga a few times over the years and it is always a pleasant one. Very clean, plenty of amenities, and friendly service. I can t give 5 stars though because on our last visit our room, 162, was next to the second pool and smelled overwhelmingly of strong chlorine our entire stay. We mentioned it to the hotel manager immediately upon checking in. She told us she couldnt move us because she was pretty sure they didn t have other rooms (the sign said vacancy) and sent a maintenance person that admitted to us they can t even smell chlorine anymore. We lived- but It would have been nice if the manager had checked in herself. Also, there was no follow up from her.I do recommend staying here but try to get a room away from inner pool, and don t expect much from staff.

Great beach resort for families. Dog friendly, spacious condos. Excellent customer service. No gulf views because it's across the street, but private beach access and chairs provided by hotel. 2 pools on property. Covered parking. Would stay here again.

Great location, nice room, quiet. Getting around was easy from here, though we mostly headed south. Beach was clean and never too busy. Lounge chairs are free to use, along with the umbrella they give you in the room. We would definitely return. Honestly, my concern is a place like this will go up in price as people realize how enjoyable it is.Walkability: 10 min walk to Bridge Drive. If anywhere is too far to walk, there is a free trolley or golf cart service that works on tips. We found it very easy to get around without a car.

We stayed at #154 bayside. It was perfect having the dock access out our back patio for fishing and having the beach a short (<400m) walk to the beach on the other side. The spa was right out the back patio as well and was only for our unit and three others. The Bridge Street area with shopping, bars, and restaurants was within reasonable walking distance. The only complaint about the condo was they could have had sharper knifes and better quality cooking pans and utensils. It wasn t inconvenient enough to outweigh the good though 5 stars :-)Nearby activities: Kokohut, Bridge Street restaurants, shops, bars, mini golf, pierWalkability: The free AMI trolley was right outside the reception building

We stayed here at Tortuga Resort for the first time and loved it. We had room 261 very comfortable and roomy. Had to bring my portable coffee pod maker and small fan for the bedroom for white noise. Other than that everything was provided.I loved the indoor pool which was very calming.

After staying here I don't understand all the positive reviews. I booked a one bedroom deluxe. The balcony looked out onto the entire walkway for the front building to enter their units. As they leave they could look right into our unit. It happened to be that they were replacing the ceramic tile roof which was incredibly noisy and disruptive. Plus the workers were immediately outside our unit too. I booked this so my husband would have a nice place to stay while I went to dialysis. I couldn't have made a poorer choice. When I complained at the desk and said I wanted a credit I was told on Tuesday they would ask the manager.I never heard back and had to stop again Friday and ask again. They gave me what I felt was a very unacceptable credit compared to what was paid and what we endured. It was expensive, the furniture was run down, the washer / dryer had seen better days. The coffee maker didn't work, the dishwasher door wouldn't stay closed. The best thing about the place was the water pressure in the shower. Otherwise they would get one star.

This has been our favorite go to beach vacation spot in the last 3-4 years. It is so convenient to the beach which is right across the street, they provide beach towels, chairs and umbrellas, and it is always well kept up with all the way around. Nice quiet area but yet central to anything you need around you either in walking distance or by trolley. The rooms are great sized and has a full kitchen in the event you stay for longer than a few days it comes in handy to make your own breakfast/lunch/dinner. The staff has always been very welcoming and friendly each visit. Highly recommended this place if you are needing somewhere nice to stay for a few days or week.

The stay was great, I stayed in a 2 bed 2 bath deluxe. Place was spacious and well kept, and right across from the beach. I was there for a friend's wedding, and they were staying there, so I also decided to stay there.Reception was nice, they mention that they were under staffed, so they couldn't accommodate to certain cleaning and other services, which was understandable. However, they had called me the day after check-out that they were charging me for pet cleaning fees, because they had found some pet hair in the couch. (I did not bring any pets during my stay, mind you. Also I bought all new clothes still in packaging and luggage on my trip, so there was no way pet hair attached to my belongings. And I only have a small short haired cat....which I still lint roll any hair stuck on me) but they kept insisting that I did. This was frustrating to me, because I had already told them that I didn't bring a pet, even at check-in I confirmed that there was no pets. I do not know if this was a scheme to charge me additional fees, or their cleaners didn't do a great job of cleaning before my stay, but I was not happy with that situation. They did not charge me thankfully, but I had to keep repeating myself many times that I did not bring any pets. If they believed that I brought one, they should show me proof via video or pictures of when I was on the property, not accuse me based on their cleaners finding or vacuuming up some pet hair...and enough pet hair for them to make that assumption tells me that their cleaners don't do a good job of cleaning (again due to under staffing as mentioned before.)Which is why I gave them 4 out 5 stars, had they handeled this situation and customer service better I would have given them 5 out of 5.

We love this little Resort. Excellent pool both outdoor (in front) and on the second floor too...Great location...1/2 mile to downtown so we walked to everything.Beach is a few steps across the street and there is a big dock in the rear where you get a great view of the sunrise.Excellent beach with free chairs, towels, and umbrellas...Staff was always nice and friendly. We had a few issues with our unit but mostly everything was corrected.I hope to come back...give them a second try and hopefully move this quaint little place up to 5 stars!

Very positive experience. The living room furniture was beautiful, but it was old and did not support you well. Very comfortable bed, and very good amenities. The TV was not a smart TV, so we could not stream, but the front desk was responsive. We will be back!

The best vacation my family has ever had and we ve had many. We ve never visited Tortuga and didn t know what to expect and couldn t believe how beautiful our accommodations were. Front desk was wonderful. Location to the beach and restaurants was central. Our room had its own pool over looking the bay. This large 2 bedroom had their own en suites in both rooms. We also rented a 1 bedroom and that was nice as well. We will be back! I miss it already.

We loved our stay here! It's very well-kempt on the grounds and pool area. The area is safe. The free trolley has a stop right across the street. Download the app Manatee My Stop for live updates of where trollybis located and timing. Our room was on the ground floor with easy access to pool, room 121. The only not so great thing is that people are curious and look in your sliding glass door windows as they walk past. Human nature. That would not deter me from getting this room again. Very clean, cute and had all the necessities for a comfortable stay. In addition to the trolley you can walk to some bars and restaurants or take the Monkey Bus. The white sand beach is right across the street and you will see beautiful sunsets.

Staff was friendly the location is great and amenities were nice to have. However we had issues with ants and bugs in unit. We actually paid to sleep at a new hotel just off the island. We left our things in the main living room closed and any snacks we left in fridge and sealed up when we were not there. We used the unit for the convince to visit the beach during the day and because we had already booked it. We did let front desk know and they sent someone to spray but it did not help the issue. We were just very vigilant with our things and our kids things to make sure we kept things closed. A pain for sure to be worried about bugs/ants and the fear of bringing them back home and having the extra expenditure of a hotel at night was not ideal.

Great place to stay. Very clean and updated. It would be nice to have a vacuum. It would work better with kids bringing sand into the place. The broom and wet mop aren't cutting it. I would suggest buying a $20.00 vac and putting it in all the units. It would make the tile less slippery and possibly less time getting each unit ready for the next guests.

Nice spot to vacation, clean and proper. Walk across the street and your on the beach. Great place. With- in walking distance to things to do or eat but seems secluded, I'll stay at Tortuga again.Walkability: You can walk to the center of town in about 20 mins. 3/4 to a mile be my guess.

We choose to stay at Tortuga based off it's recommendations in a few blogs. We definitely made the right choice. We have absolutely loved our stay. It is beautiful, quiet and comfortable. The beach is right across the street. It is a short 15 minute walk to Bridge St, which has restaurants and shops. They have beach toys, towels and chairs for you to use at the beach. They advertise umbrellas too but they were all being used or were broken. So we had to go buy beach umbrellas our first day. That was really our only negative of this trip. The front desk said they had ordered more but the shipment was delayed. We will definitely come back to Tortuga and AMI!!

Had a wonderful time with my family. Rene was more than helpful with reservations as our family can be somewhat demanding and indecisive. We really appreciate her patience. Loved Megan and Katie too. The rooms were awesome, clean and very accomodating. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Booked a night here- tried to extend my trip- the lady I spoke with made me feel horrible for booking with a third party (expedia) and said because I didn't book with them she couldn't extend my stay? So I'm canceling my trip altogether and won't be coming. Not to mention she hung up on me while I was talking. Great customer service? Not even the slightest. Do better!

The grounds are beautiful but condo interiors are showing their age. Our carpet had some pretty big stains, kitchen cabinet drawer was broken, bathroom tub and sink did not drain right and could use a coat of paint! Also who hung the shower curtain rods? The curtains drag on floor like 6 inches! Gross!
