We had a large lovely two bedroom condo type. Full kitchen, beautiful furnishings and a nice screened porch over looking the marina and marsh. The hotel was a little pricey, but we had a thoroughly nice stay.Nearby activities: Saint George island.

Well this was our maybe 4 th trip to Water Street Inn and had an eventful night with the fire alarm going off at 1:20 am.!! NO FIRE AND POLICE SAID Happens a lot!!That should be an easy fix to find the SHORT.Ascend Group -who owns hotel- should do better with up keep of property!Outside doors to rooms are peeling, shower didn t work and reported it but wasn t fixedCorner of a wall had a hunk knocked out of it.Baseboards all needed a good scrubbing and furniture needed to be vacuumed under. I cleaned outside table.Just some painting and maintenance is all it needs. Great location on the creek just keep it like it was in the beginning.ASCEND GROUP GO CHECK ON YOUR PROPERTY!!! Reluctant to go to any other Ascend propertyRooms: Need maintenance thru out!! Bunch of deferred maintenance! Cleaning of baseboards and dusting See my review above.

I'm not sure where to even begin with this review since there's so much I can say. I will, however, try to keep it brief. To begin, the bed was rock hard, the room clearly sustained water damage in the past, and everything was outdated and somewhat dilapidated in my opinion. The female that checked us in was friendly, but the one that checked us out (claimed her name was Leigh but didn't have a name tag) was extremely rude as far as I'm concerned. My wife prepaid through the hotel itself for a three night stay; but after two nights of trying to sleep on the rock of a bed, we gave up and checked out. When I explained why we were checking out, she didn't apologize and just shrugged her shoulders. Then when I asked about a refund for the third night, she simply said no.After explaining I was going to leave negative feedback, she expressed zero concern. But that's not the real kicker. She then charged my credit card on file for incidentals, $75.25. Guess what? There were no incidentals, so it's purely revenge in my opinion (it's being disputed as fraud with my credit card company, so we'll see how that goes). At the end of the day, a few words of advice you should consider in my opinion:- Don't stay unless you like hard beds and are okay with dilapidated rooms.- Don't prepay because they will not give you a refund even when it's the state of the rooms as to why you're leaving early.- Check you credit card days after you leave to ensure they're not charging potentially fraudulent charges.- Notice how many anonymous reviews there are for this hotel. I don't recall ever seeing this, so it makes my doggy head and wonder if they're legitimate.

Marina stay....Very expensive, $4.00/ftNo courtesy car, golf cart, bicycles nothing.Shower was not very clean and NO hot water so unusable.Asked for a list of restaurants or attractions (welcome packet) nothing! For $4.00 / ft some amenities should be included. Loopers beware!Staff was very nice... just he fact that accommodations dont match the charges.Very disappointing

I had a terrible experience with this hotel. The manager Leigh was extremely rude, she doesn't get the fact that people have options. This place is being operated like if it was in a 3rd world country. I had to call the Corporate office to get a credit for an unforseen cancelation as they charged me upfront upon booking. They wanted to charge me the complete cost of a 4 day stay instead of just charging a cancelation fee. Please Run.... Don't book this sketchy hotel, it's not worth the hassle.#Customer service is everything!

Upon arrival, we were happy with the hotel. The suite was large, and seemed to suit our needs. The issues started the first morning at the property. We arrived by boat and rented a slip for our 2 night stay. On Saturday morning, we discovered that there was damage done to the Sea Dek on our boat by the resident cats at the hotel. At first glance, one might not think it to be the fault of the hotel...HOWEVER, the hotel staff feeds and maintains the cats on property....providing food and ice water, even allowing the cats in the hotel lobby. There were cats on the cars in the parking lots. Two sections of Sea Dek on our boat were damaged during the stay by the cats kept by hotel staff. We were told by the front desk guy that is what our insurance is for! THEN, we returned to the hotel after dinner to discover our room was permeated by noxious fumes, making the room uninhabitable. You couldn't even open the bedroom window as it is weighted and does not stay open. We were told by the front desk guy that management decided to rent the rooms regardless of the fact that bathtubs were being refinished, resulting in the horrendous smell. I tried calling the manager (she didn't like me calling her cell phone) and she hung up on me, rather than offering a solution or to be moved to another room (not sure if any were available). Since we arrived by boat, it was not like we could get in the car to try to find another hotel in the small town at 11 pm at night, so we were relegated into trying to sleep sitting up on the patio to avoid the horrible fumes. For the suite and boat slip for 2 nights, it cost over $770. Choice Hotels deflected to Edgewater Group, and we've received no reply or offer of resolution by Edgewater Group, the owner of this independent Choice Hotel. Unless you like to be treated like garbage by the hotel staff, exposed to horrible fumes and have your boat damaged by the cats maintained by the hotel staff, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

I had the same problems reported by customers, with non refunds. Also, Google maps shows breakfast. I fought could not make this chain pay my refund, good luck.

Loved the balcony overlooking the water. Beds were comfortable and it's very quiet. Make sure you pick up coffee pods and sugar etc as these are not in the room and the lobby doesn't open until 8! There is no breakfast available here. The receptionist that morning told me, condescendingly, that they did not 'make' coffee for guests. I had asked if coffee was available in the lobby after waiting for it to open. Okey dokey.

Although I only got to spend one night due to biz trip, I found this hotel exceptional. It was basically like having a luxury 2/2 condo on the water with every amenity imaginable. Room was clean. Grounds were clean and great staff. Everything you need is within a half mile. And very reasonable priced . Will definitely stay again and hopefully longer I felt right at home.

We really enjoyed our one night stay here as we were passing through Apalachicola. We stayed in a King condo unit overlooking the boat slips. It was so relaxing watching the wildlife from our screened in balcony after a long day of travel, plus it was close enough to walk to any restaurant in town. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Snuck away for a weekend getaway and this place hit the mark! Very nice rooms and the check in clerks are just great. True Southern hospitality. Within minutes of arrival you feel like you have known them for years! Location is perfect as it is set back from the main part of town. But do not let that scare you. Everything and I mean everything is walkable. The selection of local dive bars to higher end restaurants only add to the positive experience. If you are looking for a nice quite place to enjoy a weekend I would recommend this place without a doubt. Only thing....the dishwasher sounds like a big block 350! LOL but that is the least of your concerns. Would visit here again without a second guess.

The rooms in our suite were absolutely gorgeous, clean as if brand new, and as comfortable as home. The screened in balcony overlooking the river was our favorite place to sit and enjoy each other's company while watching pelicans, sea gulls, and boats meandering by.We will definitely be back.

Possibly Ghost sighting-I am driving myself crazy and wanted to know if anyone has experienced a ghost at this location.I stayed in room 106 and woke up to a noise that followed a little girl with a low ponytail that walked into the closet in the master bedroom. The closet light turned on and she seemed to be hiding or playing hiding go seek. She looked at me and put her finger up to her mouth and told me to shhhh. Then went in the closet but stuck her head out one more time and told me to shhh again and turned the light off. My husband swears I was only dreaming but I felt like I was wide awake and tried to wake him but he told me I was dreaming and to go back to sleep. I wasn t afraid as she seemed innocent and wasn t a scary experience just shocked. If you stay here and see her will you please post:) so I can confirm what I say was actually a ghost. I did ask the front desk if anyone has mentioned the hotel being haunted but they said that location hasn t had any sightings but other locations in the town were. Maybe it was just a dream but I REALLY don t believe this to be true.As for the Hotel it was beautiful and the perfect location. The staff was awesome as well. Very clean and accommodating.

Great place, great rooms and the pool is nice for the Florida humidity. Short walk for eats and drinks so you don't have to drive every where.

Guest service is nonexistent. The elevator was broken and we were on 3rd floor and Mgr repeatedly told us it works. After 2 days they posted sign that it was temp out of service- but no sign of a repair.A giant truck and van blocked the whole entrance while for 2 days they pressure washed the outside walkways- navigation of that was really fun. The rooms need a total makeover- paint, new furniture, bathrooms.Super over priced for all these issues. I would not recommend to anyone.

We had an issue at check in. The key would not open door. We tried getting the clerk, Ms. Linda, to reset the key several times. She ended up coming upstairs and trying her card and still couldn t open it. The batteries for the door lock were changed and the keys still wouldn t unlock the door. After exhausting all ideas to fix it, she moved us to another room. I want the manager to know how nice and helpful Linda was. She was extremely helpful and she was so upset the door lock wouldn t ever work. She truly went above and beyond trying to fix the problem and kept apologizing. She kept saying y all came here to relax and have a good time and you re having to deal with this. We told her we understand things quit working sometimes and that it wasn t her fault, but she was still so apologetic. We have stayed here before and despite the door problem, will stay here again. It s in a great location for walking from the bars and restaurants uptown. And Ms. Linda at the front desk is so friendly and engaging as you are checking in.
