This was our second time staying at Coombs Inn, we are from Pensacola buying a boat! It was the cheapest rates we could find and just fine for our needs. Plus it was literally down the road from downtown, water front where there are a lot of shops and food trucks!Rooms: The rooms are fine, neat set up for an old Mansion not your typical hotel feel.

We stayed at this place several years back and it was great. We just got back and this was very different experience. It is a beautiful house, however Here is a list of the things we experienced. There s no ice machine on site, even though there s an ice bucket in the room. No secure Wi-Fi, The Bedspread was dirty. I asked for extra bath towels, and they said no problem, Two days later we still didn t have them. I left a note at the front desk when no one was there, two days later still no call on my cell phone. The room: One day it was hot, the next night it was freezing. You have no control in your room. It s one central heat/cool system. Room nine squeaky bed. It s sad because this is a great little house with horrible service. We will not be staying there again.

Let me start by saying that I hate giving below 4 stars. I want small local businesses to thrive and be found. BUT, this was so frustrating that I had to post because it would have been a five without a few details that I think are important. First, we couldn t find our room. The address we looked up took us to a beautiful yellow home with 10 rooms. We assumed we were on the second floor because the rooms on the first floor were single digits. After carrying our suitcases upstairs, we learned that there were only 10 rooms. We were room #11. I saw a similar building out back, so I walked our luggage out to that building. Simple mistake, right? I assumed my wife missed something on the email. I later learned that there wasn t an email but only an app that had a number 11 on it. This back building was #21-#24. My wife calls the number she has and no answer. She tries again, and is told that we are in another house a block away. No apologies for the lack of communication. I load up the car and move over a block. We find the room immediately and bring in our luggage. I am sweating profusely so I turn on the ceiling fan. It doesn t go on. I tried the digital switch on the wall and it doesn t light up. I realize there s a battery in it and it must be dead. We both want the fan to work now and when we sleep so I take a picture of the battery and make a note to pick one up later. I had moved the tv to get better access to the battery and when I went to move it back, I saw the tv mount covered in dust (see picture). It wouldn t have been such a big deal if it was the only thing. We dress for dinner and head out. I buy a battery and a fan at Dollar General, and we come back to go to bed. The battery makes a light come on the switch but the fan doesn t work still. I finally did what I did not want to do and climbed up on the four post bed to try and reach the little fan chain. I got it and the fan came on blowing more dust throughout the room. Finally, we just laughed and I sat on the bed waiting for my wife to change. Then I noticed the strangest thing. You can see the toilet from the bed. There are glass French doors between the bedroom and bathroom and the only thing blocking are sheer, see through curtains on the glass doors. Neither one of us were excited to do our business in front of the other. So, besides all that, the bed was comfy, water pressure was good, the house itself was beautiful. Oh, and we got the email telling us where our room was around 5:30 while we were at dinner.

Enjoyed it very much in room #6, love the claw foot tub, view, beautiful architecture, clean room. Step up to bathroom is a little high, definitely not for handicapped though wasn't a problem for us. Had plenty of coffee supplies available in the lobby, wonderful big porches with rocking chairs and tables. Main road next to it is busy but rooms are as quiet as can be expected in a multi room building. Of course it's near everything so very little driving necessary, some would even walk the few blocks to shops, museums and restaurants. I'm not crazy about remote check in since I don't use my phone for transmitting personal financial information but I didn't have to since I had made reservations at home so am happy both processes are available. Do recommend it and will stay here again for future visits.

We enjoyed our stay in Room #23. Comfortable bed and living room area. We had a full kitchen, which we were not expecting. Not very well supplied but we made do. Only one afternoon the temperature creeped up and a visit to the front desk corrected that. The main a/c controller was in the unit next to us where no one was staying. It was very hot out and our unit had in addition to central a/c - a window unit and an additional one in the bedroom. This all kept us cool and comfortable even though it was in the high 90s. We particularly enjoyed Socks, the cat and a little friend that visited one evening. Beautiful inn. Everything was clean. When we checked in and during the weekend the person on duty was available and at checkout another was working in the main area. Guess I had good timing.

We stayed here for 1 night in room 12, it was not the room picked to stay in, it was definitely cute and old fashioned which I loved, but the pillow cases had crusty brown spots and obviously weren't cleaned or replaced. The people in the room upstairs were slamming doors and fighting at 12:30am so the place is far from sound proof but thankfully that only happened for a short time and during the day when we were there it was peaceful. There were no coffee pods in the room, a note saying to ask the desk for them but no one answers the phones. Cute place, needs some work to make it actually sanitary though, and customer service needs improvement but otherwise is a nice spot close to everything.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It's a historic building, so it should be expected to be in a historic condition. The room was clean and comfortable, but the beds could be better. The hotel provides shampoo and basic toiletries, and the room had basic amenities for leftovers and coffee. There was plenty of storage for clothing. If you have some loud guests, you will hear them out in the common room where most rooms adjoin to. There was a nice balcony that faced a not so busy street which had ceiling fans and chairs. We didn't need anything, but the staff was friendly and on-site throughout the stay. The hotel met our expectations and we will be sure to stay again in the future.Nearby activities: There are several parks within a short distance, with few historical landmarks and museums. There is plenty of boutique shopping within walking distance. Beaches are about 15 minute drive to St. George Island.Walkability: The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to all of downtown Apalachicola. Plenty of sidewalks, and traffic speeds are 25 mph in most places.Food & drinks: The area is a good area, with zero issues walking around the area. There are plenty of shops and restaurants with the Oyster City Brewing Company, and several bar/grills in walking distance. There are plenty of adult beverage/food options available. Be aware: most places close by 9/10 pm and are closed on Sundays and Mondays. There are places that are open until 12/1 a.m.

The room (#22) was set to 85 degrees when we checked in at 5pm on Friday. I called the front desk because there were no instructions on how to adjust the temp. By 11:00pm that night, the room was only down to 77 degrees and we were very uncomfortable. The knobs to adjust the jacuzzi bathtub were broken/cracked. The switch to turn on/off the front porch light is covered so you can t access it. There are no curtains and the room gets very bright in the morning. One of the blinds to cover the window on front door was broken, so anyone can see inside. The bedding consists of a mattress protector, fitted sheet, duvet comforter, and another top sheet not connected to the duvet. After the first night, the second top sheet had eventually moved off the duvet comforter as we slept. When fixing the bedding for the second night before we went to sleep, I noticed the duvet comforter was actually dirty and stained. There were small dark reddish brown stains that looked like dried blood in the corner of the comforter. At this point, it was late at night and we just removed the duvet. To the right of the property, there is what appears to be a gravel parking area along the side of the road. Multiple people were parked along here during check in and there were no spaces available in the main parking area between the main house and our building when we arrived. On Saturday night, my friend parked along the side of the building in front of a shed and I parked to their right. We then walked to dinner (around 15-20 away). Shortly after, I got a call from a female employee at the hotel who told me I needed to come back and move my vehicle (not my friend s) so someone could access the shed. I asked if it could wait as we were at dinner and I would need to walk back, and she said no. I made the walk back and tried to call her to confirm my friend also did not need to move his vehicle and she would not answer the phone. When I arrived, I saw the shed door partially open and a motorcycle parked inside and realized my friend s vehicle was the one that actually needed to be moved. I asked the female employee why she didn t tell me this and she said she did not know. A male employee (owner of the motorcycle) began to yell at me for the parking issue and told me I made him miss an event. I apologized and informed him there was no sign indicating we couldn t park there and I had no idea a motorcycle or vehicle would be in there it looks like a storage shed for tools. Additionally, others had parked along there the day prior. The employee was extremely rude to the point where I started to cry. I told him I would have to drive back to pick up my friend and move the vehicle. The male never apologized and ignored me. Ultimately, the vehicle was quickly moved within 30 minutes including the time it took me to walk there. This employee was extremely unprofessional and could have handled his frustration differently. I would like to note, there was a marked employee parking spot on the other side of the building when this all transpired. At checkout, no one was at the front desk or answered when I knocked on the office door around 10:12am. I called the hotel phone, which of course went to the desk phone in front of me that no one answered. There was no sign or instructions for guests about how to check out or if someone was coming back. I was unsure if I could just leave my room keys and go. After waiting 5-10 minutes, I left a note with my room keys to advise them I was checking out and left my number. I tried to follow up an hour later and called the front desk several times to confirm they didn t need me to swipe my credit card or have me sign anything, but again no one answered and I could not leave a voicemail. As of this writing, no one has called me back.I have stayed at this hotel once prior in the main house and had a better experience then. We will never stay here again and I should have spent the extra $100 to stay at the Gibson Inn.

Great location but cant recommend it. Our room was not even close to the one pictured. Lovely big house but then they said Oh, you arent staying in this house, you are 2 houses down the street. For 250 i expected better. Very small room, no seating as it shows in the picture. Very short but Tall old bathtub but nothing at all to hold onto getting in and out. No AC control in the room just one in the hallway for the entire upstairs. Very steep stairs to carry bags up. Smoke detector battery beeped all night from the hallway. We had to park in an alley barely big enough for the two cars that used it, backing up is risky as there is an outdoor propane tank behind you. Also, it was a bit smelly. I would not stay again.

Good stay for a cheap price. I stayed here on a road trip back from Key West and proposed to my fiance in Apalachicola as we had to put our dog down the night I intended on proposing. We went out for dinner and enjoyed our night at a local oyster restaurant. This place is very hot with no AC but for the cost that was expected. It is also VERY haunted. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep that night. We were in the room nearest the churches semetary across the street. There was definitely paranormal activity that night. The night stand moved in the middle of the night, I saw something peering through the painted glass of our bedroom door (we were the only people in the house), my phone fell off the table that I set it on to charge.I just wish this was disclosed so I wasn't caught off guard. I've had encounters in the past but only one with something evil after my ex shot herself.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was fantastic. However, it was never clear when I made my reservation that there were multiple locations. I stayed in the smaller guest house and had really been looking forward to experiencing the guesthouse as I saw it in photos when I booked the room. Little glitches detracted from the charm, like room keys deactivating at 10:15am when checkout was at 11am, and having to walk over to the main guesthouse to have keys recoded (they still didn t work). I m honestly not sure why I was charged $30 something in incidentals when we left the room spotless. If you appreciate charming boutique guesthouses, this is a gem, but if you re also travel weary and just trying to enter your room to check out of said room, this wasn t the most convenient.

We stayed here because they allowed pets. That s about the nicest thing I can say. Room was dusty from top to bottom no attention to detail (an extra trash can might be nice, somewhere to put your luggage, a place to sit, perhaps a small bench in the bath (no where to put anything!), filthy blinds and dingy towels. We had to ask for more than one roll of toilet paper! And of course there is no one to ask until after two.Our dog loved the bed, in all fairness it was comfortable.

Lacking typical amenities.Room has no individual A/C so it was warm. Coffee yes but no cream nor Sugar substitute. No blow dryer neither. Curtains where sheer and let a lot of light in. No service personnel on site due to shortage of help. On the good side, very spacious room, very comfortable bed, quaint, easy parking.

We have stayed here a couple of times now. It's great. If you want new and fancy, this is not the place. It is a historical building, that said it's attractive and well kept. I enjoy it a lot. Most of the furniture is 3 times the age of the guests, as is the building, but because of that it's charming and has a feel you just won't get most places. And it well located, an easy walk to wherever you want in town. We would go back without hesitation.

The jacuzzi tub did not work at all, no hot water and jets did not work which was the primary reason for choosing the room at the price so we could relax and refresh each day. Very disappointing the rooms were knowingly advertised when it was known to staff that the jets did not work. Room had lights that did not work and toilet made continuous noise. Other than that the GM was responsive to my concerns. The staff were friendly and hospitable, we stayed in the separate suites which were very nice and would have been outstanding if everything was in working order. The location is perfect for exploring downtown with plenty of shops, restaurants and more a short walk away.

My husband and I absolutely love Apalachicola and booked a room at this inn as it was cheaper than the nearby hotel. The ceiling in our room started leaking on the bed during a storm. We were very understanding, as the house was built around 1910. Staff was accommodating and placed us in another room across the street. But when I reached out to management, they did not want to remedy our unsatisfactory experience. Management's customer service was lacking and we will not stay with them again.

This was our 4th stay, and we were celebrating our anniversary. We love this little town and hotel, but this visit was a little disappointing. The whirlpool tub was not working. Apparently it has been broken for quite some time and we were not told of this. The room has two fans, both of the wall controls did not work. The porch light had a cover to prevent you from turning it off, so the light would shine in the bedroom all night. It's a lovely place, but for 350/night, I expect more. The receptionist was very apologetic and friendly. No manager was available to discuss the issues.
